Top 25 Children of Bodom leads

- A year since Paint the Sky with Blood came out (wow time goes by quick) and I felt like I needed to do another tribute, so here it is.
I may’ve numbered them but it’s really hard to rank them since they fluctuate so much (number one is absolute though, I doubt that’ll ever change). Initially supposed to be a top 10 but changed to 25 because there were SO many choices. Very few Hexed and Something Wild songs (no IWC songs) because of their tunings, C# standard and Drop B, so they’ll get there own video. There’s a whole bunch of other lead lines I could’ve put in here (ParallaxDG, thanks for reminding me of a LOT of others leads). Note: this is NOT solos, they’re completely different and when I’ve got enough skill in future, I may do that list.
A bunch of mistakes here and there, especially in Hatebreeder and TLaS, but I tried my best. Enjoy this

I know, where are my subs?! 😂😂 joking aside, It was interesting experimenting with this idea, I’ve never done a ranking like this before but I always enjoy seeing them. Tell you what I will do, this’ll probably be over a couple of different videos, but I’m thinking of doing Top (no.) riffs from Children of Bodom, but it’ll be over the 4 tunings, so 4 different videos. That may be hard, if not harder than this. Also can I have the link to the forum plz? Thanks for that man, I really appreciate that.

@@ParallaxDG I’ll try and do 20 for Drop C. Which riffs/rhythms would you go with? Examples, the verse in Bodom Blue moon and the intro up to the little heavy riff in Sixpounder, or the IYWP…PFR main speed riff (same with Ugly), intro in Damaged beyond repair, just to give an idea.

I will try to pick some: SNBN intro/verse, Hatebreeder intro, Downfall intro, Mask of Sanity verse, Taste of my Scythe verse, Northern Comfort part after intro and then verse, Sixpounder heavy riff, Chokehold intro, pretty much anything from Bodom Beach Terror, You're Better Off Dead bridge/solo rhythm, Next in Line intro and part after that as well as solo rhythm, anything from Hellhounds (intro, verse, pre-chorus, bridge), Blooddrunk verse, One Day You Will Cry verse, Tie My Rope chorus, DWEDFN verse, Banned from Heaven bridge? (part after first solo you know the part it's pretty epic), so many from Roadkill Morning (intro, verse, pre-chorus)
Some more: Not My Funeral intro (one of my favorite riffs of all time), Shovel KO intro, Roundtrip verse, Miss Suicide is a goldmine for riffs (intro, fast verse riff, pre-chorus heavy riff), Ugly intro and chorus, pretty much all of CotN, NPTD intro, Halo verse, Transference bridge, BBM verse, DBR intro, All Twisted intro as well as verse and chorus, OBaaKD intro, verse, chorus
Ok, somehow I forgot a lot of these. Bodom Beach Terror chorus melody is an absolute top 5 for me. Transference chorus is a great melody. Not My Funeral is an easy top 5 too. I remember when RRF came out in 2011 that song was actually one of my least favs from the album. Nowadays I wonder what the fuck I was thinking lol. Hellhounds is a top 5 too. Man I should do my own list sometime, it would be interesting to see. I can honestly say that I have never seen the Hate Me melody played with open notes before! LOL at 9:13, "Not Dwayne". Yeah, that melody from The Rock is great, I was expecting that. Some of these I was not expecting like This Road, Follow the Reaper, Blooddrunk, IYWP...PFW. Also yay, I finally get to see you play a little bit of Bodom Blue Moon!
This list was pretty fun to make. Yeah I had a couple of left field choices, like This road and Follow the reaper (the latter has always been one of my favourite leads, plus I wanted to throw some Hexed in there somewhere). I realise some like Bodom Beach Terror, Not my funeral and Bodom Blue moon probably should’ve been higher, but this was incredibly difficult for me to order. Now that I think of it, I think In the Shadows should’ve been higher. Probably best to to consider most of these as top 25 not necessarily in order (Waste of skin probably will probably not change for me and I’m pretty confident with my Top 5, especially with Decadence, COB and BAM).
Also the opening notes in Hate me!, from what I’ve seen I’m pretty certain that’s how Alexi plays it, like with the IYWP…PFR lead, that’s the way he plays it.
@@metalftw9652 you know what you're right, just opened up a random youtube video (hate me live at wacken 2018) and he plays it like that. I must have always assumed that the guitar pro tab I had was the way Alexi did it but you probably know about tabs, you can't always trust them.
@@ParallaxDG There are some riffs and things that Alexi plays a certain way compared to the tabs that I’ve picked up on. For instance, the positioning of the riff during the verse in Bodom Blue moon (just after the intro lead) or the pre solo of Tie my rope or some bits of the Hate crew Deathroll solo (where he does that really quick run just before the tremolo fluttering).

Oh yeah I’ve seen that video. Yeah he really does make it look easy. As someone who’s tried to play it myself alternate picking essentially a slow sweep section, that’s a lot harder than it already looks.
