I cant wait to see what you do next to the 224 if i was you i would do a .010 head gasket with any cam you put in the added compression with the added duration makes for a really effective combo no matter the engine but if the 224 head is anything like the 212 non hemi head you can run .300 thousandths lift with no issues but from what iv saw on UA-cam the stock head gasket is .055 thick so to go to a .010 will definitely make a noticeable change in any setup. Im gonna be pushing my engine to the absolute limit i will be over .350 thousandths lift and 260° duration i will definitely be claying my head to make sure i have clearance to run it especially with a 32 28 valve set up in the new head

Do you have any experience comparing the Mikuni22 to a Tillotson TCT? Also, how about comparing a Tillotson TCT to an upgraded clone carb (flowed, blueprinted, possibly bored)? I am running a stock engine with just the header pipe. I like my stock air filter because it is compact. I may add a CS cam later. My stock carb has no way to adjust the idle mix. I want to change to a TCT or an upgraded stage 2 blueprinted clone. Do you have an opinion on this?

@@Black66 : That was pretty good. So since you have the Tilly carb, if you are searching for another video topic, try the Tilly TCT fuel injection carb and run it against that normal tilly, but you will need another bike with a stock linkage because your current Tilly carb and the TCT fuel injection Tilly carb both require the stock linkage. As much as the Mikuni is awesome, your video shows me that I can probably be happy with a clone stock carb that has been upgraded with polishing, but I am still debating with myself over that verses the TCT fuel injection carb.
@@donkeyhole2782 I really like the VM style carbs because they support future mods really well ,and are easy to tune. As far as performance goes , on a stock or almost stock engine you won't see much difference as far as gains in performance go. As you start adding bigger cams, heads , exhaust that's when you notice a bigger difference with the VM style carbs . I will try and test out a TCT carb at some point.
@@donkeyhole2782 I tried the TCT and was disappointed, but then I got Mikuni22 and immediately noticed improvement. The Mikuni has much better flow increasing making the powerband much better and has a higher top end. Also the throttle feel is much better than the stock linkage. Cheap amazon vm22 kit are surprisingly good too.
@@FunniestFlicks : Thank you for sharing your experience. I've decided to avoid the TCT as it seems to be focused on lower RPM torque for machines that run within a lower rpm range. For the time being, I've decided to try a stage 2 stock clone that has been polished and jetted for performance. I may work my way up to the Mikuni at some point because yes, that stock linkage is very mushy. What a contraption it is, but I have to admit, that stock linkage is very versatile. I have to figure out how to get the Mikuni to hug the bike more. I ride around bushes and trees. The way the Mikuni and air filter stick out from the bike, I am sure a bush will steal the filter when I am not looking.

So I don’t have to remove the internal govenor to install? I got a Honda gx200 and I got a vm22 carb/shorty pipe and springs that’s going into it.
It's always better to take the governor wheel out of the crankcase. Less stuff to potentially come apart . But the carb will go on there without removing it.
If I throw this carb on and remove the governor arm do I need to do anything else?
Check out the governor removal videos ua-cam.com/video/CK4p-iYTwFg/v-deo.html
Black66 Good Video. I Just Ordered A FRIJOLE MINI Bike Frame. To Build
are these street legal im considering buying one but idk if they are or not im not tryna get it impounded the first day
Depending on the area you live in you can make them street legal.
@black66 just curious but I was wondering if you help ppl with know how to fix or get around stuff on their bike I just bought a 224cc for my Coleman cc100x and don’t know how to get the throttle figured out I’m more use to the 98cc where it’s just the one area for the throttle but on the 224 there 2 areas that look like where it should go and it just has me in a loop 😅
I have a question ,what is the best engine for top speed between a 212cc predator or a 7hp duromax stock🤔?
They are both good if you change out the valve springs. It seems like the Duromax spins up harder in stock form. Maybe the head design or stoke?...
Hey David I notice you don’t use the choke hardly ever on the VM-22s even when they are fresh out the garage. Is this true? My choke is like 2600rpm but drops to 1400rpm as soon as I close off the choke on my vm22
I do use the choke. . A lot of the times I will edit some of the starting process.. I try and keep the videos moving along so they don't get to boring.
Your link to the carb says it’s a 26mm I ordered it but everyone I talk too says it’s not the right one and it’s too big

Did you move, or just find a better street for testing? Also, do you ever take your minibikes out into the desert? They probably ride pretty harsh off road, I'm sure.
Ya, I moved. I have a few places I use for testing. I figured I would change it up. I don't do much desert riding with the minibikes .
Helpful asf🔥💯thanks sir
I have a lot more content coming on the 224cc
@@Black66 i cant wait to see those videos especially if you built up the 224 using wild parts like the big cam (mod1, f275, 356 ) and 28mm carb 32 28 head it wouldnt be anything commonly built but it sure would make god loads of power but another great little set up for a more reasonable set up would be the mod2 cam and stamped 1.3 ratio rockers and the cam and rocker combo cost less then a big race cam and makes just as much if not more power (rod, flywheel, mod2, stamped 1.3 ratio rockers, vm22 ,header, 26lb springs) me personally i would also throw in a set of ss valves and ec retainers as i personally dont trust the hemi style valve spring retainers and could fail at high rpms im sure you know of all this stuff but it sure would be cool to see the 224 go from stock to mild to wild and see how it preforms throughout each stage as i plain to skip stock and mild and go straight for wild i wont be able to compare my 212 to my 224 as i plan to build a new mini bike for the 224 that is geared for 100+ mph
Where did you get the carb and exhaust kit from ?
The links for the parts used are in the description of the videos. Check out the CT200U and CT200U-EX playlists ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
Did u have to tune your carburetor?
Yes, I live at 3700 foot elevation. Had to jet accordingly. There are many carb tuning videos on the channel. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/MnQvIlFX8hM/v-deo.html
Great 📸 video thanks for the info 👍
is this the predator 224 hemi or just the predator 224?
It's a Predator 224. Check out the 224 playlist for many different combos on this engine. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/0PB16_EYCiQ/v-deo.html
@Black66 What sprocket are you running in the back tire?
50 sprocket
What if you already cut off the tip of the throttle cable when switching to a vm22? Will I need a new cable or is there a trick?
There are quite a few videos in the playlist where I solder on a tip to the cable. Thanks for watching!
Could you do the 224 against the ghost
Can you run the bike without taking the governor on the inside of the motor?
@Black66, I was wondering if you could help me out or suggest some tips... I've recently swapped a ct200u with a Predator 224cc just like your setup with a header and VM22. But my problem is that when I start the bike up it doesn't seem to idle and dies when trottled. I don't know weather it's too rich or lean. I've tried tuning the Carb but to really good success. I was thinking it's either a vacuum leak or bad jetting. I unfortunately dont have the bike with me at this moment to fix and diagnose it correctly. But I was looking for a knowledgeable individual such as you for help or suggestions.?
What rear sprocket where you running?
I have done close to 400 videos on the channel. Its hard to remember a particular video. Check out the playlist, I will sometimes link the parts used in the description of the videos.
What size jet do you use for the 224. predator with the VM 22 clone carburetor
Check out the 224 playlists I have had so many setups and carburetors on this bike and other bikes it's hard to nail down one size jet ua-cam.com/video/rF7xAz02INA/v-deo.html
Can I run this with a stock 212cc predator. ? No issues. Just carb n intake
What size brackets do you have?
Do you remember what your gearing ratio was?
What you recommend for a frame if I bought this engine and what mods do i add to make it as fast as possible
Check out the CT200U-EX and CT200U playlist for many different mods and engine combos with this bike. ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
Does your Governor have to be removed
With this carb it does. Check out the 224 playlist ua-cam.com/video/45Eu29F8V3g/v-deo.html
What size tooth did you use sir
Where did you get the inline fuel filter
Very nice, great video brother ✌️
Do you have any experience comparing the Mikuni22 to a Tillotson TCT? Also, how about comparing a Tillotson TCT to an upgraded clone carb (flowed, blueprinted, possibly bored)? I am running a stock engine with just the header pipe. I like my stock air filter because it is compact. I may add a CS cam later. My stock carb has no way to adjust the idle mix. I want to change to a TCT or an upgraded stage 2 blueprinted clone. Do you have an opinion on this?
I used a jetted Tilly carb in this video . ua-cam.com/video/mD_UvdIq1r0/v-deo.html Also check out the playlist on this bike. I change out the Tilly carb to a VM22 ua-cam.com/video/25Pbtgh7uP8/v-deo.html
Exactly wat kind of header pipe was that i had a pipe on my 212 n it wouldnt fit in my 224
It is a 196/212 Coleman CT200U header pipe. it will fit. You have to use a Dremel tool or a burr with a drill or something like that to oblong the holes in the pipe flange ever so slightly .
Well done Sir!
What is the app that you use called, because i have a 224 and an curious to see the 0-20 time etc
I use a dragy performance meter for 0 to 30 times, digiHUD on my phone for top speed , along with the camera GPS .
What do you do with the fuel line on top of the gas tank? Is it plugged into the mikuni or is it useless now?
I don't use the vent lines
@@Black66 ok thank you. Should I shorten the vent line and plugged it with a fuel filter or leave it as is?
@@connorneufeld413 They have a kit that puts a little filter on tbe end of the line coming out after you shorten it so nothing gets in there . I usually just leave them open.No problems yet. But then again I dont ride in dirt very much.
@@Black66 thank you so much I appreciate all your help. It's hard to get info about specific things like this. The videos are awesome keep it up.
@@connorneufeld413 Thanks! Thanks for watching the videos
would you consider building a coleman ct100u for the nonamenationals?
Maybe...
Really liking the videos man!
Thanks!
Tillitson 212 vs this predator 224??
New riding location? Neighbors get mad?
So far so good...
Is it some kind of secret what size jet you need for a VM 22 on a 224 predator
Depends on engine mods and elevation etc
I love like your content man, I currently am running a tillison 212 at a stage 2, but now seeing your review results I guess I will try the new 224 and build that also
I love riding at night however… I don’t have headlights, I have a cygolite 350 lumens tail light , but still trying to find a headlight . Wondering if in the future you could do a vid on this topic? It probably would help alot or night riders and myself 🤘
Thanks! I would like to do a video on that.
Wow!
What clutch are you running?
I have run quite a few different combos with the Predator On this bike I was using this clutch www.ebay.com/itm/313092339316
Do you think this would fit on a ct100u?
Yes
Man, please hook up one of the Tach/hour meters!! We are getting a wealth of information here but it would be nice to know rpm with your direct drive (no torque converter) set up. Some meters record your highest rpm and they're inexpensive 😀
One with a cyl head temp guage
@@ericmuhlbeier8023 I run a cylinder head temperature gauge on my mini-bike and on a Royal Enfield 650 and Triumph Thruxton 900.
What size rear sprocket was on this?
Its hard to remember a given video after almost 400 videos on the channel. Check out the Coleman playlist. I have quite a few videos where I show the gear ratios. ua-cam.com/video/X0SmAZJ6qW8/v-deo.html
u snuck a spacer on the shaft my ducar didnt come with one
It a washer from the hardware store
@@Black66 oh lol because I had a spacer on the 80cc I think it came with the motor if I needed it wouldn't they put it in the box withy ducar it has everything else clutch screw ECT and the clutch is in board and no play or movement I just got drill these holes my drill is too weak
Do you think the 224 is a good engine
Yes, I think so. It has a reinforced block and a 58MM stroke for $40 more than a 212 Predator. To do that on a 212 would cost a lot more than that.
Another question do you think the 224 predator will last awhile looking to put on a mini bike and will be abusing here and there
@@lomi4267 Ya, I think so.
If it was up to you which one would you get between the 212 & 224 thank you so much
@@lomi4267 224 definitely
Alrighty so I got my 224 trying to keep it the internals stock but get at least 45-50 mph got a mukuni vm22 and a straight pipe had to straight chain it because there was in way where it goes but yh would I have to replace the stock rear sprocket to a 40tooth for high end speed ? I’ll change internals if necessary but trying to see how much I can push stock out the 224 😂
I would leave the stock 50 tooth gear on it for right now . I think a 40 might be kinda small with a straight chain and the tall tires on the CT200U. It could reach the speeds you want with the mods you have already and the straight chain .
@@Black66 thanks a lot yes haven’t been able to test speed yet got to late but thanks for the info
The 58mm crank will benefit from upgrades
Hey, should I get the 224cc or a 212 (hemi or non hemi) I have a header pipe that fits both which one should I get ?
The 224 is a good deal for $40 more. It has a stroker crank and a reinforced block. ,
Get the 224. Higher quality than the Pred 212's and a "bigger" engine to start with. And like Black66 said, the stroker crank and block are easily worth the extra $40.
@@Black66 👍🏼
@@Black66 I guess i wont get the 244cc because i got a free working 196cc and i had a old stage 1 kit from a my blown 212 but i just need the jet and i will have a stage 1 196cc soon for very very low!!!

I don't have a header pipe but this is about where my mini bike with 5 inch wheels is right now.. How safe is it to leave it stock for now? no governor or oil sensor and stock flywheel, rod, ect?
It's 100% fine.
@@xaviermccloud4586 yeah I've been rippin it, havent worried too much about it.
What effect does it have if you leave the internal governor? I have a 212 with a zip tied governor and have a mikuni that im about to put on but really don't feel like taking everything all back apart to remove the governor. How did you set it up without removing it?
