Thank you for clearing that up for me. My sewing machine dealer could not help me when I was having tension issues, so I took the Juki back and got another sewing machine that had working tension. The sewing machine dealer needs to watch this.
Thank you for showing how to change tension on my Juki….I’ve never understood it. My Viking is more user friendly on tension…BUT I almost never use anything but my Juki. 👏👏👏
Great video! I wish I had discovered these videos before! I am leaning so much about my machine! I had no idea the bobbin controlled the top and the top the bottom! Learn something new every day!

OMG! Ive been struggling for the past 24 hours, trying to correct my thread tension after working with vinyl. This video explains the tension adjustments so well! Thank you!!
My Juki is my quilting workhorse and I ve just gone through a nightmare trying to get the presser foot lifter replaced. My next step I s to contact my nearby dealer, but I may be back to wail some more. Nicely done video!
Thank you for the tension video. I think this is the best/clearest demonstration of adjusting the tension that I have seen. I thought I was going to start off saying…’oh no, you forgot the metal washer but you saw it, phew!
Thank you!! You helped me set my tension. Its always been the 1 thing that's freaked me out about my machine. But I get it, you're amazing! Thank you again!
I've been struggling with this since 2021; and yes, I did take it back to the sewing machine store. No help. I've never had a problem with my 47 year old Kenmore.
David, you just called to go over my shipment! Imagine my surprise, listening to you on this video, when you call me in person. So excited to receive my TL2010! Just doing my homework.
This video is awesome! I just started sewing 2.5yrs ago and this is the first time I understood how to adjust tension from the top or the bottom. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you so much. I was having looping on the bottom and read it wrong and was trying to fix the bobbin tension. First time Juki user and am using Aurifil 50. I will be getting some Glide and another bobbin case. This video was perfect for me and saved me hours. 😊 I will be sewing tomorrow.🎉 I only read a couple of comments but I will go back and read everyone's tips because every tip and hint help me. Have a great evening.
Thank you so much for this great explanation and demo. I love my Juki but was suddenly having trouble getting good quality stitches. You took the fear out of messing with the tension dials. There's nothing like seeing beautiful stitching.
Misplaced my instruction Manual and the stitches were looking so sloppy, you gave me the answer to my problem and gave me the confidence to turn the screw on the bobbin, I was told to never touch that screw! Also you pointed out that different weight threads need a different bobbin case. Wish I would have found you a long time ago. Thanks for the lesson.
Omg...thank you so much...I couldn't understand why sometimes my stitches would just be straight lines and I'd have to waste time meddling with the tension. Thanks for you expertise.
Thanks for the great info. Silly me with my new machine did not know the top stitch tension was set thru the bobbin. I've been working on the top stitch tension totally incorrect and now I'm excited to do it right!
I am so happy to find this channel. I have the TL2010Q and I love it but have always had to figure things out by trial and error. Thank you for all the videos especially this one and I have already checked my tension and made adjustments.
Thank you! I have been long-arming and got my Juki TL 2010q back out after it being stored away a long time so I could start binding with it, and I was doing the tension wrong.... like I was used to with my long arm, which is so different than a Juki domestic machine.
Thank you so much for this video. I recently got juki TL 2010Q and I'm still trying to figure things out. I was trying to adjust my tension properly. Silly me didn't know that bobbin is controlling top thread and that I have to make it tighter to get nice humps on top and get rid of my almost "continuous line". Yay.
Purchased this machine just today and test sewing found the tension needed some adjustment but I wasn't sure what was a normal setting. This has been so very helpful. I really appreciate the clear photography and advice. Thanks so much.
Thank you, I could not figure out how to adjust the tension and how to tell what the top tension is😊 hopefully now I can get it straightened out, and……Imwill buy more bobbin cases.

Hi! Can you add what the sub tension does for the thread. I read a previous comment that that should be adjusted to be looser if the thread cutting is cutting the thread too short.. to the point you need to constantly rethread
Thanks!!! All along, I’ve been adjusting the dial at the front of the machine (on my 18) thinking it was the top thread. No wonder it never looked right.
This video was very informative...exactly what I needed. Thanks, for the tip too on stretching the inner spring of the tension knob! I love my Juki! Best machine ever!
Terrific video! Just bought my first mechanical machine today, an Haruka. I’ve never had to adjust bobbin tension. I wouldn’t have understood how to fix the switches without this video. Thank you so much for your great Juki videos.
Thank you so much.. been struggling with the tensions for a little while.. this video helps a lot! ❤️ Maybe also do a video on tensions for different type of fabrics 😁
I tried all this on my juki, thanks to your video, however, I have major thread tangling (everything was fine just earlier today). I tried to fix the bobbin to how you stated it should be and I checked the spring (which I just had maintenance done on my machine a few months ago and so that looked good). I put oil in my machine, changed the needle. . . nothing is fixing it still. I don't know what is wrong. I was NEARLY done with this quilt I am on too. Thanks so much for the great video. I have one issue tho... who sews with 4 thicknesses of fabric? Please demo two thickness, like what we sew with daily.
Very helpful thanks! You forgot to put the silver part back on in the top tension part… I was afraid it was going to get pulled up by the fabric and break your needle on that last sew run. Whew glad it didn’t but I hope you don’t lose the part.
Awesome! Thanks so much. I requested this last week, and I’m so happy you made the video. I did not know the bottom tension was controlled by the top. Thank you so much! You guys are awesome.
Great video thanks! From this video I found my bobbin case had no tension at all. But no matter what I try I still get one continuous stitch line. I’m getting so frustrated. I have a TL 2010Q….

Awesome educational video on how to adjust the tensions properly for the top thread and the bobbin. Thank you, David for this video, love you guys at JukiJunkies. You are the best.
