LED's are a great safety upgrade! We've had issues with the after market trim rings not lining up with the top and bottom holes! #VWLife baby!

in these years, there is no seal. 66 and earlier has the seals on the body and on the glass.

On that website they have LED's for 5 inch and 7 inch lights, what size do I have on a 1967 bug?

In karmann ghia, the headlight is sandwiched in between a ring, and a retainer bucket..i cant get them apart , so i cant get the headlight out. Any tips? (I may just have to buy new retainers,) i already have the new LED headlights

Love the videos as always. Do you have a vid on redoing the bucket style headlights? The car behind this red Bug looks like almost the same one I am doing- minus the year. I have a '66 L87 bug and was doing the headlights today- new assemblies. The fender seal on one is not lining up and the other seems to be blocking the lip so my chrome trim can't stay "in the lip" so to speak. Could be aftermarket as you stated in the video. Just bummed because I taught myself how to assemble the deal and then I figured, "I just have to put the trim in the lip and then lower and screw and done. Nope! I did get the glass back in, though and it's almost finished. I watched your vids all year- since last Nov. and gutted this car and replaced everything, had it painted, and am almost done with all the exterior pieces. Your tar board looks killer in the engine, btw.

Hey thanks my friend. So what is aftermarket on your bug? The trim? the fender?

    • @salestowelpros4691

@@classicvwbugs The assembly (which includes the trim). Fenders should be stock as far as I know. The original owner sold it to my buddy- same neighborhood- he never did anything to the bug.The unit I bought is one of the EMPI units from Jbugs. I am thinking, now that I learned how to assemble them, to try and use the original one and just install the new chrome trim and headlight. Thank you for the quick response!

@@salestowelpros4691 yeah those aftermarket assemblies are just not that good. Wolfsburgwest.com sells good ones.

Where can I get the headlight adjustment screws? Mine are 50 years old and stripped out.

Thanks for the video. Of course I went to change the headlight on my super and the sheet metal screws holding on the headlight are stripped. My luck

Mine is a ‘64 and is very different. I’m trying to replace the running lightbulb, but don’t see how to get into the bucket. Trying NOT to break anything. LOL, your instructions violate the classic “VW Handbook for the Complete Idiot”. As I recall from decades ago, the author repeatedly says that left and right instructions throughout the book are from the perspective of the person working on the VW. “LEFT IS LEFT”, he kept saying.
