It’s okay to not use a pigtail on a outlets and put both wires in the terminals. Only the ground wires are pigtailed. Some installers only pigtail the ground wires only is that something installers should do
I have always preferred using pigtails on outlets. Makes it easier if the outlet ever needs to be replaced. And also the load of the remaining circuit will not be passed through the outlet so one less fail point. When it comes to electrical methods, everyone has their opinion. This is my personal preference and how I like to wire them.
