Best aesthetic - Chapter 4's Twilight Town (spooky creepy atmosphere) Best mystery - Chapter 3 Glitz Pit or Chapter 6 Excess Express (lots of battles vs almost none battles) Best character interactions - Chapter 5 Keelhaul Key (Cortez is so cool and Flavio is always hilarious) Best combat - Chapter 8 Thousand Year Door (enemies are tough and require good badge/partner usage) Most interesting location - Chapter 7 All (between the snowy landscape, the moon, and the x-naut fortress, there's a good variety, and they don't overstay their welcome) Best introduction - Prologue Rogueport and Chapter 1 Petalburg Woods (I consider these to be part of the same entry, since the prologue immediately treats you to the sight of Rogueport, a town full of thugs and criminals, while Petalburg returns to the more familiar aesthetic of the Mushroom Kingdom, similar to the first chapter of Paper Mario 64; it's a nice 1-2 punch) Best.. pikmin simulator? - Chapter 2 Boggly Woods (I got nothing for this one; I don't like the partner, and the aesthetic is not as good as Twilight Town; it just stands out the least, compared to all the other chapters)
I paused before watching and made my own tier list... Ended up exactly the same, except the prologue which I placed at the bottom. And I swapped the top two choices around, but it was a hard choice!
Chapter 8 is my favorite chapter in the game, I love its creepy atmosphere, its design, the music, the bosses, the lore and build up, and I enjoyed every single thing in this chapter, you also use every ability and partners in this chapter, the tower is amazing too. And the Shadow Queen is my favorite Paper Mario character and boss in the series. That being said, here's my chapter ranking: 9-Prologue 8-Chapter 6 7-Chapter 2 6-Chapter 1 5-Chapter 4 4-Chapter 7 3-Chapter 3 2-Chapter 5 1-Chapter 8
I totally get what you mean about the tree level. I love looking at it, but it doesn't fit well with the overall Paper Mario world and style, and I get a headache playing it
Haha no I like Koops! I just think the others are even better! Plus, I suck at timing his attack right lol, so I end up using other Partners more often in battles
