Only Cali has 99cent only stores, they used to be 100% 99 cents but now they charge more. It’s a complete different company than dollar tree.

It depend if you go to an “independent” 99 then they mainly sell cheap stuff but if you go to a company like the one with the purple logo like the brand that was on the prices then they offer more stuff such as produce

My local 99 cent store sells things like cauliflower rice,
go veggie cheeses ( grated Parmesan, cheddar , mozzarella )
Califia Yogurt, & milk sometimes
And none of it expires till 6+ months and they’re always $1 lol

a little tip: if you have avocados that you need to ripen super fast put them in a paper bag with a ripe banana and leave it over night and they will ripen :)

It might not be the best budget video, but many people live in areas that don't have any good grocery stores. If you live close to these types of stores it's good to know what you can get without driving or taking the bus long distances.

Tip only by jar or tubed tomatoes and tomato products bacause plastic and canned products all have BPA only. Recently found this out!!!!
Excellent video. In the Poundland and similar stores in the UK I find that it's mainly processed junk food so I try to avoid the food because I want to focus on WFPB.

My 99 cent store is super good. They have vegan "meat", vegan cheese, and a bunch of good products marked down super cheap. I love their veggie spring rolls too😋

Just a quick thing so everybody knows most states have a store that is either a 99 cent store or it may be called something else. These stores will sell the produce that big stores don’t want to sell whether it’s because of quality or even because one tomatoes for an example in the bag went bad. These stores are a great option for healthy meals when you are on a budget. So as long as the produce is still in date it is safe.

We dont have that store in new england. I shop at the dollar tree all the time. Most of my foods come from the dollar tree because I can find some good stuff there. Yes i can go to other stores and get cheaper stuff but I like there stuff.

My 99 Cent store offers a good supply of food, just not as big as yours, so lucky. You’re right about buying in bulk, but I still drop by from time to time to pick up some fruit or veggies.

If my 99cents store stocked all those products yours carry I would be shopping there all the time.
As you stated and many need to know this, this is showing what was inside of your local 99 cent store, and showing that you COULD live off of food in that store if you had to, and it was a difference to the usual people go into Dollar Tree and live off of the food in there. You definitely stated and showed you went for the healthier options and that there were just that in your particular store. My local 99 cent store has NONE of that healthy food stuff or refrigerators or any of that to be quite honest.
But you are right, it is sometimes better off buying in BULK, like buying containers of oats that are double the size of that one for $2 each, instead of buying that smaller one. The whole thing is cost per ounce. That is what you have to look for at the end of the day. Even if you have to shop at TWO different stores.
Like my family and I, we primarily go to seven local grocery stores, there is two outlet stores, and then there are five grocery stores. One of them is Aldi's, and we always go there to get fruit. Their fruit is always super reasonably priced, and usually cheaper than other stores, unless there is a sale, and some of their other staples are more on the particularly cheaper side. Then there is the 4 main grocery stores, and I won't mention their names, but we go to the ones that have the items that we are looking for that are on sale, and that's how we decide where we are shopping.
The last two stores are outlet stores, There is no guarantee what they will have, one of them posts flyers regularly to mention what they do have in store, but once they sell out, its gone, and that is the same for both stores. But they both always have vegan and vegetarian options, and also whole food options. They have great vegan ice creams at the one typically, and also vegan frozen entrees. It is always super nice to be able to find different things in those two outlet stores, especially the food items that I never want to try when they are full price, because it is super expensive, but I am always willing to give it a go when it is half of the price. The only thing about the outlet stores is that they also sell food, and are legally allowed to sell the food past expiration on the packaging. They do not have to remove it from the shelves once it is past expiration. So therefore you have to make sure you are looking at the labels and finding the expiration dates on the items.
