We now have young adults who are getting late stage cancer diagnoses because of doctors like these! I've heard of so many young people going to see them with health concerns for them to say, "You're too young for cancer". And then when they finally find someone to really look at them and give them tests, they find out they've had cancer for a while because of their carelessness. I'm so glad your diagnosis isn't life threatening and that you finally were treated right. I wish you the best of luck! ❤

My doctor tells me that I'm too young for cancer all the time. I've been dealing with mysterious health issues for many, many years. Every doctor says I'm too young for that. I'm only 37. It can happen to babies!

As a nurse I HATE when doctors think they know everything- like even before the patient opens their mouth. Like why are you even here if you aren't going to help someone. I think you should book another appointment with him and be like "dude, you should go back to school because this other doctor figured out the problem in 1 minute!!" I wish you luck on your hair growth journey, it's certainly no fun having thinning hair.

Rude, sarcastic doctors are the worst.... the only thing they achieve is making people lose faith in the medical profession and ultimately not get the help they need. I am glad you were persistent in advocating for yourself and finally found a good dermatologist! It's definitely an emotional thing to finally have a doctor who listens to and acknowledges your concerns, rather than being dismissive! Sending you all the positive energy and looking forward to your return to UA-cam! ❤

Here from TikTok to tell you you’re not alone!!!! Normal bloodwork, trying all the supplements, spironolactone, etc. My derm told me it was “female pattern baldness” and sent me on my way like that was the most casual thing to say to a 32 year old. I was embarrassed about how much it rocked me emotionally (because it is “just hair”), but it’s SO tied to identity and just not something you expect to be out of your control. Cheers to your regrowth journey, but you are beautiful no matter what! Sharing your experience will absolutely help people ❤

Oh Ashley !!! I'm 24 and have been dealing with alopecia and balding since I was 15 / 16 years old. I went through traumatic period with large bald spot and holes on my scalp. Now its better, but I still have twice less that what I had at 14. And I used to feel so alone, so ashamed. People who never experienced that cannot know how hard it can be, especially for young girls and when you don't know what is your issue and why you do suffer from that. Im so happy for you that you finally had an answer. You have been so strong, you can be so proud that you never gave up. Thank you for opening up about this topic

Girlllll PCOS made my hair fall OUT. It is one of the most common symptoms actually. From the beginning of the vid I was asking if maybe you had it also. When I was a kid I had such thick hair, but around 18-19 it thinned so much. For me I have stayed extremely consistent taking magnesium, biotin, and 3 hair skin nail vitamins per day. I also do a cycle of jojoba or castor oil with rosemary, pumpkin seed, or peppermint oil. I only wash it 2-3 time per week with gentle shampoo and conditioner. And my biggest tip is to braid your hair to the side EVERY night. My hair definitely isn’t like one of those tiktok vids where girls hair recovers to 10x the volume. However, all of the bald spots gave regrown and my hair is no longer falling out by the hand fulls. Now my hair is maybe 3xish the thickness it was 2 years ago. I am hopeful that it will keep thickening, but it is definitely a lengthy process and not an overnight fix like certain people online make it out to be. Ofc you can have something going on in addition to the PCOS like your doc said but your story sounds so so so similar to mine.

Ashley, your story is almost mine exactly! My hair loss hasn’t been as fast as yours and I was 25 when mine started and luckily I had a loooooot of hair to start. But I know exactly what you mean with the gaps and everything. The supplements, the topicals, the friends thinking you’re crazy, the rude doctors. I luckily only had one rude doctor, but she was a woman so it stung a bit. Younger women doctors are almost always the way to go! All to be told I have seborrheic dermatitis too! So most topicals won’t work with seborrheic dermatitis because it’s a skin issue. I’m been taking oral minoxidil and that’s been working wonders. Oh Ashley, I teared up watching this 😢. I’ve been through rapid and unexplained hair loss too and it’s so scary, especially when doctors don’t listen to you. It takes a lot of resilience to continue to advocate for yourself when medical professionals ignore your worries. I’m so glad that you finally found someone to help. I lost about 2/3rds of my hair when I was 16. It took over a year to get diagnosed with hypothyroidism and start properly treating it. I used to cry every time I had to leave the house because I felt so insecure. I’m now 23 and my hair has fully recovered. It took years for the regrowth to catch up. Giving it a very big trim about a year after starting treatment made the density look a bit better. Best of luck to you. You’re not alone and regardless of how you feel right now, you’re beautiful to so many of us. Thank you for the vulnerability that you’ve shown here. as a person with HS I empathize - hearing you are too young to have cancer or a screening for your legitimate concerns is absolutely heartbreaking (and infuriating) to hear when you know something is going on. We have to be our own advocates and doctors really need to start understanding diseases do not give a f*** about a numbers we keep count of. They are diseases, not something that can be scheduled at age 45. Anyway, I'm so happy you are on a regimen and willing to share your story and shed light on this situation. Seriously that doctor is a buffoon and should be reported. Literally, we have to be our own advocates - that guy had a stick or something up his rear to get on a power trip. I spent countless hours obsessing about it online and the conclusion I came to was that I wasn't getting enough protein. I know you must be hearing this a million times and must be rolling your eyes but. When I started paying attention to how much protein I was consuming (I was aiming for 50 gr back then) I started seeing a correlation between high protein diet/decreased hair loss. Eventually I went back to eating diary/eggs/meat and all the hair loss problems resolved. I'm not saying that is what you should do, but if you look at how much protein you're getting, this may be helpful for you. All the best! I know how stressful it is to lose hair

It’s true that you have to be careful when going vegan and research. But she said she had all her nutrients so that wouldn’t make sense.
This is my experience: I’ve been vegan for years and I have thick hair. It’s genetics. No hair loss BUT breakage at the ends of my hair due to dye. Though, that’s also because of my 4c hair that’s naturally prone to breakage so idk. I started taking zinc supplements because it can strengthen the hair more but I’ve never ever had bald spots in my life. Bald spots are serious. I think that’s the cause of severe nutrient deficiencies or an underlying issue. My blood tests are always good so 🤷🏾‍♀️. Ok, you NEED to monitor your nutrient intake when you’re vegan. Certain minerals like zinc and iron are lower in some foods especially plant based. I know that humans should eat meat but I’ve never liked eating it when it comes to myself. I would prefer eating meat from free range farms because animals are treated better (**personally**). It’s a moral and spiritual thing. It’s part of my life now. The reason why I haven’t stopped being vegan is because I’ve never really had issues. I feel happy and healthy because I make sure to get all my macronutrients, vitamins and minerals. That’s the key. I take iron, zinc and omega 3 (all plant-based) supplementation. Many people, even omnivores, have nutrient gaps in their diets because it’s not realistic to get all your vitamins in one day. That’s why I have supplements. To stay healthy. But yes, be careful before going vegan, if you really want to, and research before attempting any lifestyle changes like this. ❤❤
Edit: ok I saw the vid. Iron and zinc didn’t work for her. I think it’s the pcos that caused the seborrheic dermatitis. I don’t think it’s the cause of veganism since all her nutrients are at optimal levels. Her condition could’ve been cause by stress. Also, in veganism, nutrient deficiencies usually happen before skin problems.

I'm 25 and started losing my hair when I was about 19-20. I've had exactly the same experience as you - all the blood tests were fine, the dermatologists did a scalp biopsy and said I'm fine, no one can tell me why it happens. The first dermatologist tried to tell me I'm imagining it and literally called in his assistant and said "it doesn't even look that bad, does it?" - she said it does! He told me to try minoxidil if I really want, so I did for about 6 months with no change. The second dermatologist said it's probably androgenic alopecia caused by high testosterone and referred me to endocrinology to check my hormones again, which were still normal. Then the endocrinologist said I probably have PCOS and just told me to lose weight to fix it. I still have no answer and it's just getting worse. It's SO frustrating. None of the doctors care. They don't see it as an important issue, despite how much it impacts my mental health.

Don’t know if this will help but I have been dealing with hair loss for years off and on and certain things trigger this:
    1. COCONUT OIL, for some reason coconut oil causes massive hair loss not just for me but for a lot of people! I suspect it’s from the high ph. Our normal scalp ph is around 4.5-5.5 on the acidic side, coconut oil is around a 7-8 very alkaline. That’s why products like aloe Vera or cocoa butter are good for skin and hair because the ph is 4-5.
    2. Dr. Bronzers Castile soap and natural soaps in general all have VERY high ph, even if it’s deemed as natural. Again look at the ph of products. Was using it to cleanse my hair but the high ph was causing major damage. Get ph test strips.
    3. Check the hardness or softness of your water, perhaps look into a water softener. Water that is too hard can cause hair loss.
    4. Losing weight way too quickly, for me this happened a lot. My hair would start to shed maybe a month or two after the initial weight loss
    5. Drinking too much water, I know that sounds crazy but you’re just flushing out minerals, there is absolutely nothing in water, it is a solvent, it dilutes mineral.

Also: never sleep on wet hair. Use a satin pillow case. Buy two and change them twice a week. Wash them once a week. Brush only when it's dripping wet with a lightweight leave in conditioner like kinky curly knot today ( through the lengths only, no conditioner on the roots). with a wet brush. No pony tails or anything that pulls the hair (even slightly). Also there's a powder you can shake onto your scalp to hide it, as well as root sprays. I'd limit them to special occasions only and wash out immediately when you retire for the night. Also, I'd look into an allergy test to see if you're allergic to something in your hair care.

Red light therapy on the scalp will help. According to the medical literature Antifungal silver nanoparticles kill fungus very effectively so colloidal silver might actually be worth something in this light.
This is caused by microflora colonization, oil and dead skin cells being consumed by microorganisms to the point where they grow out of control, cause inflammation and everything goes downhill from there. Regular exposure to sunlight prevents it, but once the microflora colonization occurs it can be a pain to fully get it under control. There's probably a stronghold hiding on the back of your scalp, the prescription you have will probably clear it up just fine. It's pretty well understood. Red light therapy will probably hasten your recovery, stuff like this is good news because your hair will fully grow back.

Fennel + Cumin water dude I SWEAR BY IT. I'm 18 and have PCOS which has lead to weight gain that is hard to loose, very irregular periods (two or three A YEAR + when it happens it's heavy, painful, and lasts 2+ weeks), and of course hair fall. I was 14 or 15 when my uncle pointed out a huge bald spot on the back of my head and until about a year ago I would find a new bald spot on my head almost every month (abt the size of my finger tip). My hair was really thin and strands would fall out when it was untied and I walked around.
Since I started drinking fennel + cumin water consistently, not only have my period become regular (AND I DON'T GET CRAMPS ANYMORE!!!) but my hair has stopped falling and has grown back vary well. I usually boil about 4 cups of water with a half a tea spoon of cumin and a teaspoon and a half of fennel. It has a bit of a strong taste on it's own so I prefer to drink like half fennel half regular hot water.
please don't knock it till u try it!! I really hope u get trough this since I know how damaging it can be to ur self esteem and mental and physical health :(

@@sally9852 yes I experienced so much ovulation pain- I would get cramps and it would feel like someone was stepping on my stomach sometimes. My doctor ran some hormone related tests (I don't know the exact details as I was only 15) and it revealed that my estrogen levels were high and they checked me for cysts on my ovaries, which I do have. I'm currently waiting to hear back from a gynecologist who will look into the issue more deeply but it's been taking forever.
as for the fennel and cumin water, it was originally something my mom and I started to drink because one of her friends recommended it for weight loss. However when I started to drink it more often I noticed my periods were becoming more regular. We usually prepare it by taking 4 cups of water and adding a little more than a teaspoon of fennel and half a teaspoon of cumin. Bring it to a roaring boil on the stove (should take 15 minutes on high heat) and then you can drink it! you can add some regular water when you drink it to lessen the bitter taste, but you need to drink it hot and try drinking it in the morning on an empty stomach!

If you have PCOS (me too) you should look into the link between insulin resistance and hair loss in PCOS women. Many of us do better with lower carb diets. It can be true even for lean women that hair loss can occur due to blood sugar issues. It’s like a genetic thing…Just throwing it out there, cuz I’ve also been losing tons of hair and have read that it helps a lot. I hate to be that person that’s like “oh I have the missing link!” cuz I’m not saying that at all….just something I didn’t hear you mention it. Lots of accounts on Reddit of women with PCOS hair loss having success on lower carb diets :) PS: I’m really appreciative of you putting your experience out there because so many of us are suffering in silence. I'm sorry you're going through this! I went through a similar situation for years. My hair is stable now and much of it is growing back. Trichologists are not real doctors (IE Robert James if he is the person you're referring to in this vid) so don't waste your money seeing them. Not medical advice but consider finding a solid GP or dermatologist who can run bloodwork - CBC, thyroid panel, hormone panel, vitamin/mineral panel to screen for abnormalities or deficiencies. Hair loss is complicated and it's often hard to identify a root cause but sometimes there is one or more than one. If you have taken hormonal birth control in the past or present, that could also be a factor. I believe that was one of the underlying cause for me. Hope you get some clarity soon as I know hairloss can be very distressing. Most importantly, there is hope that your hair will not fall our forever and that it could regrow with or without the help of medical treatment(s). Big hug.

    You can try this, it is a vegan and cruelty free option to try;
So many soaps and shampoos contain toxic chemicals and ingredients that can be damaging to the skin, body and hair.
Try, Everyone soap, it is a 3 in 1 shampoo and soap. The brand is called Everyone, it is cruelty free and vegan and it is EWG (environmental working group, i believe) certified which means it is the lowest on a scale of 10 on toxicity. I wash my hair every day and do a double wash which means I wash, rinse, and then get more shampoo and rinse again in the shower. ( I actually want to find a more natural, vegan, and non toxic soap but it works for now.) Wash gently and try and use cool or lukewarm water, not too hot and not too cold. Ive also heard some places have very hard water, if you can buy a water softener for your shower, try and get one.
After the shower put about 8 drops of this mixture I am going to write down below on your scalp. If you can tolerate more than put what your scalp and hair can tolerate without irritating the scalp and not looking too greasy. Just keep it in all day until the next shower.
Then get Organic Castor oil, and buy organic rosemary oil. Castor oil is going to be the carrier oil and Rosemary oil is an essential oil that needs to be diluted in the carrier oil.
DO NOT PUT ROSEMARY OIL DIRECTLY ON SCALP!
Castor oil is a great overall oil for skin and hair and Rosemary oil has been proven in studies to help hair growth.
Start with a .5 percent dilution rate to get your hair/scalp adjusted. Basically a scalp test to see if you are allergic and can get accustomed to the oils. (.5 PERCENT MEANS HALF OF 1 PERCENT, NOT 50 PERCENT)
    To dilute rosemary oil use the ratios;
.5 percent dilution equals 10 drops of essential oil per 100 ml of carrier oil
1 percent dilution equals 20 drops of essential oil per 100 ml of carrier oil
You eventually can go up to 3% dilution after several months but take it slow and be very careful as essential oils are very harsh and can worsen conditions if done improperly. Try to go up in concentration gradually. You can use the dilution rates above to figure out how to get to 3% dilution.
Also try and reduce stress and eat mostly whole vegan foods, with fresh veggies and fruit.
I believe also stay away from pastas and breads and processed vegan foods. Pasta is an easy vegan food but it is so heavily processed that it doesnt work well with my body. Better carbs instead of pasta for me are typically potatoes, white rice, and quinoa.
Try and get a comfortable workout routine, that reduces stress.
    Hope it helps!!!

Still drink my teas, but coffee was insanely increasing my cortisol level when i would combine it with exercising. I am so sorry that you had that experience with that awful doctor. Ashley, I can relate soooo bad! I'm a bit older than you - 26 - but my hair loss started in the fall of 2021 too. The reason for my hair loss is different to yours but when it comes to doctors, there are a lot of similarities...
For me, the hair loss would worsen seasonally with massive amounts of shedding in april to may and then again in late august to late october. It would be too much hair loss for me personally all year round because previously I'd lost about max. 20 hairs with every hair wash but spring and fall were horrendous. I too, had lost enough hair last in the spring time that my scalp could be seen, especially when I put my hair in a ponytail.
I too, had visited each and every doctor, be it dermatologist, gynecologist or endocrinologist, available to me and they'd all tell me the exact same thing: You're fine, it's in your head. Your hair looks normal. My mother told me I was exaggerating and going crazy and my sister told me it wasn't too bad and nobody would notice.
Anyway, all the doctors did was look at my iron, zinc, copper and selenium levels which I had already corrected in the first year of my hair loss journey. The endocrinologists took a look at my thyroid and prescribed T4 because my levels were borderline low. But I had really bad side effects on a very low dose (including heart palpitations and excessive sweating) so I slowly came off the medication again.
The only one who took a closer look at my female sex hormones was my gyno. She told me estrogen was too low which it had been for several years due to sudden weight loss in a difficult period of my life. She wanted to get me on the pill. I refused because as far as I know, the pill can even worsen hair loss and I absolutely did not want that to happen.
The thing that was the breakthrough for me was a book called "No period, now what?" by Nicola Sykes. It taught me the effects of nutrition and body weight and fat on hormone levels and overall health. So for the past year, I've been eating nonstop in order to regain all the weight I've lost nearly a decade ago (keep in mind, the hair loss started in 2021 with an irritated scalp, so I didn't connect the dots and realize right away that my body weight could be the issue). I've been at my "old" weight for about 6 months now and guess what: The hair loss this past fall was nothing compared to the 2 previous years.
My sister told me recently that my hair looks so much better now. And even my mom realized that I had not been crazy when I was crying over a bunch of hair in the sink.
The reasons for hair loss can be incredibly hard to detect. Your body might cope with a certain stress level or body weight for a prolonged period of time only to then suddenly decide it's finally time to let go of the hair. If you're struggeling with hair loss that is not genetical I want you to know that you can find the reason for the hair leaving your head. It's hard. You have to keep looking for answers and most of all, you have to get in touch with your body and truly listen to its needs and acknowledge them. But you can and will succeed. Take baby steps in the right direction each and every day and you'll not only regain your hair but will also grow as a person and become a better version of yourself! Because hair loss is more often then not the body's way of telling the mind that something's not quite right.

being vegan made me have my period for months nonstop and being malnourished in general has made it so i have symptoms of pcos such as the growth on ovaries but not others. it’s probably veganism, the body is very smart

hmm altough I really feel your pain and find you to be incredibly brave for sharing your story it kind of makes my personal fear even stronger.. I always had super fine flat hair and Im in constant fear that I look like i'm sick and balding. my friends and family always say that it doesnt look like that at all but after seeing this video I feel confirmed that my perception is actually the right one because all the pictures of your hair "showing your bald spots" actually are the normal state of my hair.. it even looks fuller than mine. and the video you showed where the wind is blowing in your hair and shows missing junks of hair? this is my normal hair.. and kind of explains why I am always so insecure when taking pictures and videos.. the only difference is that I dont experience extensive hair loss which is good since I guess i dont have any health issues. nonetheless Im really happy that you finally found a good doctor and started to see some improvement ( : doctors can be so ignorant and useless
    wish you the best!

Another thing, when you are using things like minoxidil, you usually need to give it at least a year and use it consistently. You can go through several sheds. After every shed, the hair should come back thicker. If after a year, you are still shedding but no regrowth, then there is something else going on.
Make sure you go to an endocrinologist and not eat/drink certain things before blood work. An endocrinologist will give you the correct tests you need. PCPs only give very basic tests that don’t look at everything.
Best wigs are the ones customized at Orthodox Jewish places 😂 they make it look so natural. A few incredible ones in nyc, nj and Chicago. It’s EXPENSIVE but worth every penny.
