Of course there almost no speed limits then! It was great fun when my late father was shouting that a super car was coming flashing all the way! Great times then... Have a nice trip to Italy 🇮🇹
Cool comment. It must have been amazing to be chugging along in a family car on a Sunday morning in northern Italy back in the day and a Miura goes past at warp speed 🙂
@@rphillips6461 thank you for your comment! Both me and father were car freaks! I was thinking what my late father would say now seeing a beautiful super car overtaking us as as if it left the engine in the garage. Really sad 😔
When it comes to fixing things mechanical, there are two essential tools: Oil and tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use the oil. If it does move and it shouldn't, use the tape.
The Jaguar XJC had endless problems with its injection, the 911 is on permanent sick leave, the Fulvia got a total rebuild, the Testarossa and the Countach had various minor but always annoying niggles (after the Countach engine was rebuilt by Iain Tyrrell), the little Lotus gets mollycoddled, only the Rolls Royce continues to provide discreetly reliable service.
Bip and Go offer 2 tag hardware options, One does Spain, Portugal, France. The other does these 3 plus Italy. The latter costing slightly more. I purchased the one that doesnt include Italy which is now a pain and the only solution is to purchase a new tag.
Fabulous video Harry and congrats on the 10th anniversary of Harry's Garage 🎉. Very much looking forward to you taking the Countach back to its motherland. Love the confidence you have in the car and the sensible precautionary kit you intend to take with you. Could watch this sort of stuff all day long. Take care for now and arrivederci.
Brilliant and really looking forward to this trip. The tour around the Alfa museum was just to my mind one of the stand outs. Thank you for giving us a guilty distraction in these times.
Buy an extra fire stick and try it. They are “interesting”. I tested one and I’m glad I did. Have not needed one, but I’m now happy that I know how to use it and how powerful it actually is. I don’t want surprises from the fire suppression if a car catches on fire.
It’s always a great video when Harry breaks out the Panerai. My favourite watch maker, the simple, clear dials are beautiful. The Italian Rolex, much lesser known. When you wear a Panerai, you have style. The car ain’t bad either.
I adore your original Countach video. I remember seeing it on a CRT monitor back in the day. I still rewatch it every now and then. You certainly came a long way and make top quality videos now. But I love that old one, very real and from a different time. Roadtrip from Italy to UK without roads littered by speed cameras and with an occasional turning on the camera and giving us an update like we're there - brilliant.
Love love a road trip with Harry! Done two this year down to Grenoble, Lake Maggiore , Matterhorn, Strasbourg, Bruges, and home Dorset. 3k miles. I’d go again tomorrow. If you’ve not done one go for it
Excellent. The spare wheel looked quite comical, but good to see the ins and outs of Countash ownership and space etc. Looking forward to following along.
Loved this series, Harry…but pet peeve #1 in car trip prep - at least for me (and especially for a long road trip in a classic) - is windscreen wiper blades! Even if unused, they perish within a year; always worth replacing or carrying a replacement (along with a hacksaw blade, cable ties and duct tape…all in my kit, too 😅)
Thanks Harry, really enjoyed this video, always nice to see some Countach content. My first thought when you backed it up in front of the camera : it STILL looks like a bloody spaceship five decades on, second thought : it STILL looks even more spaceship like as you walk round to the back end, third thought : Marcello Gandini was an utter genius. Short of a lottery win the chances of me owning one are miniscule, but we can live vicariously watching you enjoy yours without the heartache of big bills etc (the same goes for your Espada which is my favourite amongst your collection). I count myself lucky that one of my cars has a little bit of Gandini's touch in its make up - my Maserati Biturbo 430, which he softened the edges of in the late '80s making it that little bit nicer all round. Looking forward to the next video.
The car parts issue is likely going to get worse unfortunately as we have less peeps in sheds, doing it properly, at a relative cost. Good luck H on the road trip, looking forward to the updates👍
I guess many of us will have had issues when fitting after market, non original parts to cars but when they are parts supplied by the manufacturer, that's a whole new level of frustration! I imagine advances in production line tech and automation accounts for the increase in production numbers of later models compared to the more "hand built" era of the Countach, especially the earlier LP400's. Good sound advice here for a road trip in anything, not just an exotic V12 supercar!👍 Cue another mega road trip to look forward to.😀

Unfortunately the K-jet of the 930 is headed in the same direction as the (Lucasified)L-jet of the XJC. Converting the 930 to EFI will in the long run be less expensive, less problematic and way easier on fuel. There are kits available based on exchanging the lower manifolds.
Some of the CIS parts of the 930 and 964 turbo are basically now unobtanium. There are several components in particular on the 964 turbo fuelling/ignition system that are effectively no longer repairable or replaceable (ignition controller, the CIS fuel head and more). Used parts change hands for thousands of pounds. There have been some efforts to replace various of the discrete controllers in the turbo fuel/ignition system, but nothing conclusive. EFI would indeed be a good option for both better performance out of the 3.3 lump, as well as drastically improving the horrendous 20mpg that my 964 turbo seems to get.... but every example I've seen of a 930 or 964 turbo that has started down that path has ended up dragging on for years and costing way more than expected 😞
Always enjoy your videos! I feel your pain on the 930S. My '86 RUF 930 Slantnose conversion decided to start draining the battery. Killed 2 in a week. Cheap Chinese Parts are showing up in boxes disguised as OEM. Looking forward to following the Countach across Europe.
