I think probably what has damaged that chest of draws is that it has been standing in direct sunlight at some point 😊 That matress though was disgusting 😒
The trouble with the adaptor is that the cables go in the bottom. A lot of the time sockets are low to the desk or floor and you can't fit anything in!
I have stayed there many times. It’s somewhat tired but it provides everything you need and the staff have ALWAYS been incredibly professional and helpful.
Love that you pick up on the atmosphere or "spookiness" on your hotel stays. Especially the hotels I've stayed in and felt the same, makes me stop doubting myself.

Great to see you Tim and you were more than welcome to the showground... The new mattress is on order as we speak.... Hope yo see you again soon.... Andy
So happy to see a video going back to where Walk with me Tim started! Tbh I'm pretty over the super luxe most expensive ones you've been doing lately...that market is saturated. Great video!
I have visited The Blackpool Imperial for over 50 years. Every single visit has always been a pleasure, indeed we were there last week and your film just made it even better. I salute you. Charles and Charlotte DeVere. Ribble Valley.
Love that you're back on home turf at these glorious old hotels again! Despite the mattress (it actually looked as though it was water stained which is why it probably smelt) it looked a fascinating stay! Cheers Tim!
Old school tim , i loved this !!! Blimey , under £ 200 for that room in august , take it anyday over abroad , ive stayed along the front in dec and the wind was out of this world !!!!!
I liked your 'Walk down the hall then cut to first perspective' shot. I really appreciate that you put all these little things into the video. They really add a lot.

What a lovely comment, I really appreciate your kind words and hope you get to see much more of our country next time you are on vacation my friend ❤️👍
In the 1980's, when this was always the conference hotel for the political conventions, the legend was that the hotel was held together by the wallpaper and the carpet and if either was cleaned, the Imperial would fall down.
Wow the history is amazing. The woodwork in the corridor so stunning. The ceiling in The Washington Suite ballroom so beautiful. Incredible history of the tunnel and baths. I would stay there but only after they changed the mattresses. Thanks Tim. Not a bad price.
I was involved in booking and setting up the entertainment for the Northern Night charity bash at the Labour Party Conference, which was based at the Imperial Hotel in 2002 . We ended up with international million selling rock band Bad Company, a Tony Blair favourite, they played an hour or so set in the Washington Suite . I've never met so many famous people in one go. The Blairs, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and lots of prominent politicians and media types. It was an unforgettable 48 hours and just a bit surreal.
This video is very interesting. For any archaeologist, historian or restaurateur, the hotel is a true gem. When you see the images you are transported to the past at times and that feeling of being immersed in a moment in the history of the United Kingdom is undoubtedly exciting. Hopefully it will be preserved for many more years. Wonderful video Mr. Tim.👍
Despite it's obvious faults it's a really grand and beautiful hotel with plenty of character and history from back in the day. I was also very pleasantly surprised about the price but in a good way, a suite including Breakfast and in August I must say that is definitely good value and reasonable too. Well done on the new sponsorship, definitely a useful travel plug adaptor which I might consider getting for my trip to the USA in October. Thanks for showing us around the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool, throughly enjoyed as always 😊
Thanks for the nice look around your local Imperial Hotel. The price is very refreshing from the more lavish hotels you have stayed at :) The mixture of different types of hotels is enjoyable to me. Keep up the great work
I have stayed at the Imperial Hotel many times since the 70’s. You should have stayed in one of the suites on the second floor, the Elizabethan or Churchill Suite, they have fantastic views from those rooms. For the quality of hotel it is very reasonably priced. I am pleased it is still privately owned and not been taken over by Britannia hotels who have ruined most of Englands fine hotels. David from Coventry

(Bet they do now though when they see your review of it!) Nevertheless, a great video showing the grandeur of how it used to be & still is in the main. Reasonable price too for a night in such an historic place. x J x😄
I look forward to watching this soon once the baby has fallen asleep. I stayed here with my husband 14 years ago for my 21st birthday. It was luxury to us back then because we had only stayed in Travelodges before that 😅
What a fantastic video! So interesting and brought back many happy memories of my childhood holidays here when they had 'bell boys'! I'm also amazed at how much of the old hotel is still recognisable. And you added so much fascinating detail - loved it - well done Tim!
The Corby trouser press, and other makes, was still a thing in the late seventies. My MIL bought my husband one for Christmas in 1978. Needing to wear a suit each day it was used nightly for several years. I also used it occasionally for my own clothing. . Evening Tim, really nice hotel with a lot of history.did like the tour around the hotel. So grand in places and amazing detail. The room really nice until the mattress wow that was bad. Thanks for the tour around the hotel.👍
As a Lancashire boy born and bred I spent a good few summers in Blackpool with my parents and siblings. I've never stayed at the Imperial, but I have friends who have and thoroughly enjoyed their time there.
I'm an American with a BA in history and I can tell you that the British Empire during the Victorian era is probably my favorite subject. There will probably never be another nation so advanced and on top of everything relative to its time, from science and philosophy, to economy and military, as Britain was in this period, except possibly the U.S. in the 1990s. The point I'm trying to make is that all of this pride is instilled in this beautifully constructed Victorian architecture. Modern architecture has lost its artistic value. In my opinion, buildings, which represent a community's development, doesn't just serve a utility purpose but a psychological purpose. I think the happiness index would increase if this artistic style was more prominent in modern architecture. Even with its modern overtones and slight run-down appearance, this hotel is still beautiful, but the photographs really show its peak grandeur. Remarkable.
I expected to hear the words "REDRUM REDRRUM" as you were walking down those corridors, a lot of Shining vibes going on!, lovely hotel, but that mattress was discraceful, but Blackpool these days has those faded splendour vibes going on, sad really, I loved a day out in Blackpool back in the day, but not now, great vlog.
I love these really old hotels with a history. They are my favourite on your channel. Love the tour of the old Turkish bath room and the potential winter gardens tunnel. That mattress though 🤢.
Norman Wisdom when 'playing' Blackpool stayed at the Imperial his favourite dish was fish and chips; not from the first class chefs at the Imperial but the fish and chip shop behind it out of the paper.
The price was surprisingly low, so in spite of some of the issues (which certainly weren't the worst we've seen from you), and especially if you are a history buff, this is a great value. What a beautiful hotel! I could wander the halls for hours!
Have stayed twice in last 5 years for events and both bedrooms needed refurb - thankfully I didn’t check the mattresses - that one looked like it’s been in a skip! Lovely building though.
Hi Tim. Just for the history and the grand decor of the place it's worth the price. The room looked lovely but that mattress no way I would sleep on it.
We have stayed at the imperial many times over the past few years. It’s old it’s showing it but as a manager imagine the staffing costs? Probably why carpets a grubby here and there. What I’d suggest is the higher management do some shift walks with the supervisors and line managers and better briefings making sure areas are targeted on rota. Split teams into wings. Such a large hotel needs managing the way it was built to be managed. The staff are amazing and never rude unless during evacs 🤣 Number 10 is responsible for my starting to drink g & t 😉 Two eggs sir? The best breakfast buffet on the strip too. Try the Lyndenne I’d love to see you review that…..
I'm currently holidaying in Marrakesh. That plug adapter seems a mighty little tool. Of the three I brought with me from the UK only one is working smoothly. Enjoyable video on the charms of the Blackpool Imperial, shame about the bed.

Fantastic review, thank you, I love historic buildings that still have their original features, I can vision Miss Marple sitting in the corner somewhere, lol
I've walked past this hotel so many times, but this is my first peek inside. Absolutely stunning and a real gem of victoriana. I'd love to have afternoon tea in there.
I still use the Corby trouser press, but rarely, I pressed my suit trousers a few months aback with it. Really nice gadget. I must do a renovation on it.
This hotel is amazing! We love watching your videos. Have you ever thought of stopping at St Pancras hotel? Every time we go to London we wonder what it would be like to stay there.
I enjoyed the vlog Tim although would have liked to see an ordinary room as I`m going to Blackpool in October and looking for a good hotel. It was a shame the hotel wasn`t cleaner but loved the grandeur and breakfast looked great.
That mattress was grim however i dont mind scuffs and the odd mark because that is what happens in all buildings. People bashing things and wear and tear are hard to control.
@williamevans9426 Of course that Mattress shouldn't be in that state it is vile. Scruffs are fine nothing is perfect even posh houses have marks in places.
Tim you often struggle with noise in the hotels. You really should buy some wax earplugs. They are a must for travelling and really make a difference. This tip is not sponsored but your more than welcome to send me a Tessan.
Great stay tim, nice man to show u around downstairs tour,.frigg about the mattress 😱,.i no for a fact Miranda used the trouser press when she went on holiday😉 (all Miranda fans will get it).Beautiful old building though.thanks always tim.
Really enjoying your content , be good if you tried out estepona in spain , some lovely old streets and not so crazy as marbella/ banus area. Great all year round climate also...

I was thinking the same thing. I think the room is very claustrophobic and a bit scruffy.
I can almost smell the room 🤢 the old bar in the function room was pretty cool though.
Quality content, cheers Tim. I’ll have to check this hotel out!
No way! That mattress! Yes it is covered but you don't know what seeps in! As always, great video!
As much as it needs some maintenance I love the vibe of this place. Wonderful video.
I enjoyed the vlog Tim although would have liked to see an ordinary room as I`m going to Blackpool in October and looking for a good hotel. It was a shame the hotel wasn`t cleaner but loved the grandeur and breakfast looked great.
Loved this, those Turkish baths were stunning!
I usually enjoy watching you Tim while eating my Sunday roast but it's not ready yet 😂
I'll watch now and eat later.
That mattress was grim however i dont mind scuffs and the odd mark because that is what happens in all buildings. People bashing things and wear and tear are hard to control.
I agree - a few scuffs are OK; a dirty mattress, never!
@williamevans9426 Of course that Mattress shouldn't be in that state it is vile. Scruffs are fine nothing is perfect even posh houses have marks in places.
@@shanehall98 'Vile' is, indeed, the word.
Have a great Sunday Tim a nice 25 degrees here in Ireland 😊
Tim you often struggle with noise in the hotels. You really should buy some wax earplugs. They are a must for travelling and really make a difference. This tip is not sponsored but your more than welcome to send me a Tessan.
Thanks for showing us around . While I appreciate the history of the hotel and the beautiful bars , I can’t say I’d be tempted to stay .
Great stay tim, nice man to show u around downstairs tour,.frigg about the mattress 😱,.i no for a fact Miranda used the trouser press when she went on holiday😉 (all Miranda fans will get it).Beautiful old building though.thanks always tim.
Great tour Tim👍 The mattress aside looks like an interesting hotel, so much history.
What a lovely place.. we stayed in a pub in July and was pleased to see a mattress encasement on our bed.
Really enjoying your content , be good if you tried out estepona in spain , some lovely old streets and not so crazy as marbella/ banus area.
Great all year round climate also...
Looks a good hotel I like the history and the Victorian look. Your suite looked nice but shame about the mattress. I don’t think I would describe the tv as retro lol. Thanks for showing us around Tim
Why not ask them to change it?
