Great story. I don.t think a dog was necessary to uncover Wallace. Perhaps the falling arrows sticking in the ground with their flight feathers angled towards the towering hills above may well have given the game away!
Indeed, there have likely been many additions to the story in the folklore over the centuries… The flight path of the arrows would have been true in the way they landed.
