I really appreciate that Queen Elizabeth had tater tots at her wedding.
And trying to call it “hazelnut balls”, like when people make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and try to make it sound by saying they put a fruit reduction spread over brioche bread 😂
Seriously!! I for one will be devoting the coming weekend to teaching myself to make Pommes Noisettes ... which I may just eat for the rest of my life lol!
@@annecraig8257 Hello. How are you doing?
@@stardroplet9499 oh it s just the literal translation from french cause tater tots are called pommes noisettes in french, like it wasn’t a way to make it sound more elevated (even though it was cause everything in french sounds better)
Tot de la Tater…
I can't believe a piece of Queen Victoria's wedding cake was auctioned! Oh man, that's a piece of history preserved in an interesting way.
@Allegra Wallace use a tiny razor to have a wafer-thin taste
I went to a museum once that had a tin of chocolate sent to Boer War soldiers with a message from Queen Victoria, still uneaten. I wonder if it was just backstock or uneaten by a soldier killed and taken home by a fellow soldier after the war as a memento?
Princess Diana's cake has been 2x now as well. It was really cool to see a piece of Queen Victoria's survived.
@@andi8717 Hello. How are you doing?
Wouldn't it spoil ? I mean a piece of hundred year old cake as a memento sounds disgusting .
Growing up on the coast of Maine, I remember my great-grandparents telling stories about people hiding their lobster stew when they had company, because it really was considered poor people's food (and that was during the Depression)
AY! Mainers unite
@@carolinejazowski321 Nova Scotia too - my mum said when she was in school, poor kids had lobster for lunch
@@illrawb
Yes queen/king/sovereign, coastal bois unite
Lobster would be the one of greatest meat I would like to get
That is fascinating
The wedding meal of Elizabeth and Philip should be always served at British royal weddings, for long life and good luck for a long marriage.
That's an interesting idea!
Yes
He cheated on her nearly their entire marriage just like charles cheated on dianna.
They were never and will never be couple goals, that's all smoke mirrors and clever marketing.
A long marriage doesn’t equal a happy marriage.
@@tiredtears4177 wait whaaaaa what you mean he cheated on her???
Ok but can we talk about how many musicals were on Charles and Diana's music program? As a musical theatre fan, I approve
They both loved musicals
Most traditions were popularized by queen Victoria , I applaud her honestly
She is the one who started the White Wedding dress fad. Before her, ladies of all rank would marry in their 'Sunday best'. No matter the color.
@@brianeutzy3376 yupp i knew that from Lindsey’s other video about her
@@brianeutzy3376 Forever after, people are going into debt over white wedding gowns, not realizing how recent it is. 🙄

Your bestie highness,
@@janetmarcum9030 Hello. How are you doing?
Charles and Diana’s sounded incredibly simple , but perfect !
Simple? Their first dish was more labor intensive than QE's entire menu.
I love how they are English yet almost everything they value is French
Trust me.we don't
a bit weird bc of britain and frances relationship in the past
I mean jeremy clarkson once said that the queen is german so...
Don’t forget that English monarchy traces back to William the Conqueror - a Norman (French) after the invasion in 1066.
The official court language of England was French for about another 500 years and longer in official documents.
Elizabeth II speaks fluent French, and despite the “traditional” and historical rivalry, French fashions & artistry have always been taken up to some extent by the English and other courts.
French culture is very much intertwined with Anglo-Saxon culture, because of the Norman invasion of 1066. For a long time, English was only spoken by peasants. The aristocracy spoke French.
Wow. I am a graduated chef just starting out, and I can only dream of making anything for anyone remotely famous. The pressure must have been immense for the chef who worked those weddings.
Nah, it was a piece of cake.
elizabeth seems to like sweet foods and philip preferred savory .
Yes together they were sweet and savory, lol
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip's wedding menu is my favorite out of all three. Their menu sounds like something I would enjoy and I love the thought and consideration considering Britain was still rationing food. Their wedding cake is absolutely gorgeous! It looks like a church! Stunning!
Fruitcake for a wedding. Absolutely not
We sent Her Majesty a sympathy card and we received a Thank You letter in return, my wife is going to have it framed. Such kindness Her Majesty showed a normal family like mine. We feel very Blessed.
Out of curiosity - was it from the Queen herself, or from a lady in waiting or equerry on her behalf?
It was sent from Her Majesty's staffers, not from her personally. But still very touching.
JUST COMMON GOOD MANNERS.
So did my Guides and Brownies. The reply was from King Charles III, signed by him but sent by his staff. The girls were thrilled because they had a royal reply.
@@1Sleepy_Ghost That's awesome!
The Queen ,Diana and Catherine looked absolutely gorgeous in the gowns 😍🥰
Off course they look gorgeous ....they were wearing the wedding dress in itself a wedding dress is beautiful.
Meghan's dress was ill-fitted and looked like a bag on her. Her nighttime Stella McCartney gown was prettier.
At least meghan picked a cake that wasnt fucking fruit cake
@@teresamartin4735 Hello. How are you doing?
Diana's dress was horrendous
Everything looks and sounds marvelous, just not too excited about fruit cake for a wedding cake.
Fruit cake is the gold standard for a wedding.
I don’t understand dessert being served in addition to cake.
@@genxx2724 because in Britain, Europe and most commonwealth countries cake is not considered to be a dessert. Cake is something to be had with tea and coffee and can come after the dessert, although not straight away.
The cake is also meant as a gift to all who attended the wedding and once cut is offered to the guests to take home with them. A very old tradition is to save the top tier for the baby's christening.
English fruit cake with whisky or rum in it and maybe marzipan on top is declious! You should give it a try. I used to think I wouldn't like it, but now I love it.
At the marriage of Elizabeth and Phillip, he was not a prince of Greece and Denmark. He had given up those titles and all claims to the thrones of both countries. At the time of the wedding, he was Lieutenant Phillip Mountbatten.
+ The Duke of Edingburgh
@@setonix9151 Wedding menu says Filet of Sole Mountbatten. All preparations were made for the wedding with the name Lieutenant Phillip Mountbatten because he had no other title until the actual wedding day. The video refers to him as Prince Phillip of Greece and Denmark. He was not.
@@setonix9151 Yes, he was bestowed the title Duke of Edinburgh and couple more the day before the wedding.
And the Queens "Toy Boy" Ever Since!!
He just gave the titles up before the marriage, what's your point, everybody knew it, they are stating his history.?
This surprises me ...
Prince Philips funeral has more views then the Oprah interview
Most likely because Prince Harry was there
Lol fr
Hiiiii! And the only way I really get any of the Windsor gossip is from Lindsay, so I wouldn’t know, but it is surprising!
Most likely it was because Harry’s current wife wasn’t there.
I watched the interview on a different site. That might be why.
The amount of detail and research that you put into your videos is very impressive.
Well, could'nt she have put in a little more effort to find out how some of the dishes are pronounced?
@@paegglaresi3597 Or indeed what was Prince Philip's title, as he gave up his royal Greek and Danish titles long before marriage and was simply HRH Sir Philip Mountbatten KG (the King gave him the HRH style the day before the wedding and made him Duke of Edinburgh on the morning of the wedding.) He didn't become a Prince of the UP until 1957
Oh three generations of wedding feasts in one video
Yes 😂 Hello great grandmother ❤️
Oh, so the wife of the usurper found herself here.
The queen does eat fish and chips her formal personal chef made them for her.
I saw the same video and she did eat fish n chips...i also remember hearing when she was growing up before her father was King they would get fish n chips
Obviously. Few of you have ever eaten AUTHENTIC English fruitcake. Don't bother with the tripe sold in grocery stores and other big box shops. That stuff is garbage! The recipe I have has been handed down in the family for over 500 years. It includes a variety of candied fruits, currants, golden raisins, raisins, walnuts, and is laced with brandy. My mother made a dozen of them the day after Thanksgiving. They were well wrapped and aged until Christmas Eve. Guests were served a slice with hard sauce and hot coffee thtought the holidays, which lasted to Epiphany. My grandmother made the plum pudding that was Christmas day's post dinner dessert. YUM!!
I ❤ fruitcake. Even the grocery store kind.
Sometimes, the "better" version just isn't enough to convince that its actually pretty good. I still find it mediocre but to each their own
Mum would bake hers well in advance of the holiday, then they’d get a good dosing with alcohol weekly until it was time for marzipan and royal icing. It was a treat ,,
Is it a dark fruitcake? My mother misses her Scottish grandmother's fruitcake recipe and I've never found a recipe similar to it.
Sounds like my father in laws fruitcake...it was yummy...
her voice really going like 📈📉📈📉
Every sentence ends in vocal fry. Argh.
As a lover of Japanese culture I immediately recognized that cabbage pancake dish as being very similar to okonomiyaki
You should try tuna cakes!!! They are awesome! I saw it made on a Korean cooking channel here on UA-cam. I'm sure mine where not as good but my grandson really liked them. And if a 3 yr old will eat it, then ask for more....you know its good 😊
£1500 for a slice of 170 year old cake??
Some people really do have more money than sense
Yeah me either
It’s a piece of history, honey.
@@Rachael308 Yeah a piece of history 👌
Though I wouldnt wanna bite like lindsay said
True dat
I really enjoyed this video. But, I remember reading that William and Catherine had two wedding cakes. The fruit cake described, of course, but also a chocolate biscuit cake. The latter was supposed to have been one of William's favorites. Not sure if so.
I also recall hearing something like that when William and Kate got married.
Its a bad idea to watch this before sleeping 😭☠️ NOW IM HUNGRYYY
I'm American. My parents were married in 1953. They had a wedding breakfast for their guests and then a dinner reception in the evening. It was an all-day affair. The women wore nice dresses for the breakfast and changed into evening gowns for dinner.
Just a few notes: Lyme bay is not on the coast of Cornwall but Dorset, close to the Devon border. It would be like saying Big Sur is in Washington state rather than California. Berkshire is pronounced “Barkshire”. The idea of wedding cakes being soaked with alcohol is to preserve it as a layer was often kept and used for the baptism of future children (as William and Kate did). Fruit cake shouldn’t be stodgy and if made well, isn’t. The fruit cake wasn’t only for royals, it used to be the usual form of wedding cake for everyone. People theses days don’t always chose fruit cakes for weddings which obviously means a layer cannot be kept for future christenings as the cake would go mouldy.
Recent Royal wedding meals (like all official meals at any active British Royal palace) tend to be heavy on British produce, I believe this is due to the fact a lot of foreign dignitaries usually attend rwms and the Royals like to show off.
Also, remember the Royal family have a large wine cellars. So the champagne served at the Queen and Prince Philip's (Rip Philip) reception was likely from said cellars
Hello Lauren Steenkamp. How are you doing?
Escoffier was a famous chef but not a very good person. He was fired from the Savoy for taking illegal kickbacks from suppliers. He was charged with fraud and stealing. He stole 16,000 (an enormous amount for 1898) from the Savoy and was ordered to payback $8,000 of it.
Those look so yummy... Weddings are so beautiful!
Yes, they certainly are your majesty......unless you were one of Henry’s wives of course.

Delicious! Hey, do another video like this about Queen Victoria's wedding feast if you can. Please? Thank you 😊
William and Cate’s dessert sounds like my absolute dream. I love trifle and love to make it (though not ever with jello).
Bubble and squeak is traditionally made with the leftovers of a roast dinner and (at least in my family) traditionally eaten on Boxing Day (26/12)
Fabulous food for the time. I remember my Mum’s Christmas cake, after rationing ended. Rich fruit cake, made months in advance, topped with almond paste and Royal icing. It was simply fabulous.
I got my cake decorating badge in Girl Guides. We made the cakes from scratch, topped with almond paste and Royal icing too. I think there was a thin layer of apricot jam, heated to make a glaze, on the cake as well? Then there was all the fiddly business of the decorative piping, making fondant icing flowers to put on the cake... I'll never forget it :-)
Hello Barbara S. How are you doing?
Christmas cake is still enjoyed by many. It's a rich fruitcake with alcohol, marzipan and royal icing, and a goodly mix of fruits and nuts. I make both sorts, the annual Christmas cake ,plus general fruit cakes, and they are not the cakes everyone likes to give but nobody likes to eat . For a start they are expensive to make, especially the Christmas cake , and they are delicious.
Just as I start eating too, perfect timing
Ikr, I just got done a hot pocket lol

Meghan and Harry, Princess Michael of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, & Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence, etc. Thank you!
I think Sauce Windsdor is a different sauce than one think of, Mosimann was one of the first to promote Natural Cooking, no or little butter, cream ,lot of steaming, baking also . He speak about it in some Yt interviews. Juices from the lamb emhanced with light natural flavorful ingredients and so

Fruit cake is yummy, last year was the first year I didn't have a fruit cake my mom would get upset whenever she'd see the fruitcake catapulted in the air on food network shows that would air during the holidays. Growing up my Christmas morning breakfast plate would have a couple pieces of fruit cake with a glass of orange juice. Best breakfast ever.
I watched the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge's wedding over and over the weekend it came on, did the same when the Duke and Dutchess of Sussex got married.
Some people eat fruit cake with a piece of cheese, it's really tasty. It might be a Yorkshire thing.
I thought Prince Philip had given up his foreign titles before they married and that he'd been given the title Duke of Edinburgh (amongst other titles) before they were wed. Also, he didn't receive the title of Prince of the United Kingdom until about ten years after their marriage.
