    Eddie Vedder couldn't describe better how I feel about R.E.M. and how I have a total respect for them. My band NUEVE is deeply thankful with them for all the influenced provided all these years.

    Hell yea! A great band from my home state! Listened to them when I was younger and still enjoy their works! I know this was a few years back but still to me they earned it due to the great music they make!

    "Without ever being able to understand anything he said. That was the early records". Fantastic :-D

    The artist being inducted chooses who presents the induction. Soooooo, if R.E.M is wanted Eddie Vedder, I guess it should be good enough for someone who doesn't even acknowledge that they continue to make AMAZING music. I love this induction speech. It is so great to see performers, who are such fans of other performers. This compares to Rob Zombie inducting Alice.

    eddie's brilliant at speaking! and u can tell there's huge mutual respect between pearl jam and rem which isn't that common with bands when u think about it

    Love this vid so much. How I wish the website of this ceremony didn't delete the video of the entire show. Love that REM and Patti Smith were inducted the same year. Btw, anyone have the video of patti smiths induction?

    I can imagine this might be It crawled from the south and the other Facts and fictions. They are the only pretty in detail books on R.E.M. I know.

    This is how Ed has been at every PJ concert Ive seen my entire life. Why would he want to be Morrison when he's already the leader of the greatest american band of this generation?? People will want to be ed in years to come.

    You know that's Eddie Vedder, you don't want to accept that probably you're in love with him

    Really?!?! Vedder is my favourite vocalist, and pearl jam have very good lyrics, Marker in the Sand from the new album is one of my favourites.

    @Hunter172 Pear Jam is not eligible, yet. I am sure they will be in, as soon as they are. 25 years from first release. I think they have 5 more years.

    All this talk about getting Pearl Jam in, but before that happens. Sonic Youth needs to go in the hall for the enormous contribution and influence for rock music today

    @kenjames64 Let me put in this way, what the smiths did it in UK for the indie , R.E.M did it in the US, U2 Did it in the mainstream, and I am fan of the three bands,

    On the bottom right corner at 7:42, is that JPM, or John Patrick McEnroe...?

    @stretchmonster2 Beatles = R.E.M. the only difference is the later group checked their ego at the door every single time...Lennon just couldn't quite pull that off (God Rest His Soul, anyhow). So they easily deserve the most respect of any group to come out of music since rock came into existence.

    It might be Foo Fighters or REM or RHCP

  • @stretchmonster2
    @stretchmonster2 13 років тому

    @kenjames64 True, but i just think the fact that r.e.m. founded an entire genre(indy rock), makes them that much more influential....the same goes for Nirvana and grunge...but just my opinion. All the bands you mentioned are all-time great bands.

    @mrbolovski It's a shame that the smiths have not been inducted, becuase of the huge impact they have on UK, but neither morrisey nor marr must give a damn about iit, they never looked for the glory or the awards, the love from their public is enough, and peter buck thinks the same too, look his face, he hates the whole parade and this induction, he likes to play music but he's a gentleman

    The only really stupid thing here is, that the video of probably the proudest moment of one of the greatest bands of the last 30 years is molested by exchanging ridiculous verbal punches about things that should be a side issue at best. Michael, Peter, Mike and Bill have deserved a little better than that, I feel.

  • @MajestaBuck

    @TTGBMR Really? Neil Young? God.....I mean, don't get me wrong, Eddie Vedder is talented and all but inducting The Doors is a fucking honor, man....

  • @MajestaBuck
    @MajestaBuck 14 років тому

    God, how many people has Eddie Vedder inducted? He inducted The Doors, The Ramones, and now REM?! I wish someone else would have inducted REM, like Dave Grohl or....not Eddie Vedder.

  • @whsonic
    @whsonic 11 років тому

    The R&R Hall of Fame is way too much US-orientated and they induct too many bands and musicians who only sold a lot of records, but don't have real quality.
    So it's no wonder that The Smiths aren't inducted.
