And no computers. No autotune. Just tape and scissors. And patience, genius and weed.
Plenty of rock bands right now are as real as this the usual autotune comment is so cliche. Stop listening to pop crap on the radio
@@allensaunders449 Yeah, there's plenty of real music out there... Radio will spoon feed you the pop junkfood as they've done for a long time... If you want the gourmet stuff you've gotta dig a bit deeper yourself.
😝💚💨
And LSD
HUGE amounts of weed! 😂
That instrument making those haunted house ghost noises is a theremin, truly a unique and insane instrument. Very difficult to play well.
I think Pere Ubu used one too, or something handmade/similar.
Yeah real cool if used properly
Man this dogg is a riot!
I think it might be in the track, but the instrument in the video is clearly a slide guitar not a theremin.
@@jweezy101491 No, it's actually a Theremin, the pitch control (the right hand slide) is in the casing on that model, a Heathkit tube-type audio oscillator.
Thank you. Thank you for being you and sharing yourself with the world. You are a gift. You are getting me through some rough spells.
Hey, Brak! Don't touch me! Hey!🤣
Couldn't agree more👍😍😍😍😍
He sure is! Covid, plus we have lives, things pile up sometimes,, he's a highlight of my day,, and this is probably the best song ever written,
A lot of people don't realize how much of a genius Brian Wilson is
Hey Brak, I love beans! You're making me smile today. Yeah, I like listening to Mr. Video too. Woo woo woo how about you? I've seen all the Space Ghost and Brak videos. Zorak was my fav and he recommended Rancid to me which I promptly did and I love them.
This knocked us for a loop when it was released Brian Wilson a genius.
Totally agree, love how the two bands influenced one another. The Beatles are my personal number #1 favourite but it is undeniable that they were profoundly influenced by the Beach Boys and the genius of Brian Wilson. Pet Sounds is truly iconic.
@KNGDNG@LNG Good Vibrations wasn't on Pet Sounds. It was intended for the follow-up album, Smile, which wasn't properly completed for decades due to Brian Wilson's mental health issues.
Brian Wilson is far from a genius, he got lucky this album came out before he went shithouse rat crazy.
I do believe there is certainly some genius in Brian Wilson. And he fell down the same trap many of the great artists do. It truly is a shame, and hopefully knowledge, support, intervention can help similar artists of this day and age.
@@blackbird8900 Not a trap clinical depression his father suffered the same.
It makes me so happy to know that some younger people are keeping the classics alive and enjoying it. You da man Mr.V. we love you.
💯❣️
Wouldn't it be nice for you to react too the Beach boys hit
" Wouldn't it be nice"? A.s.a.p. Then we wouldn't have to wait so long! 🇨🇦😀
He already reacted to Wouldn't it be nice.
My favourite Beach boys song of all 🙌🏻
My jam
I prefer Sloop John B.
@@ChiefBones great choice👍🇨🇦
"I Get Around" and "Barbara Ann" are two you need to checkout!
Yes. And check out 'Surf Medley' by Junior Brown.
This song is seriously a ridiculous amount of music genius distilled into a single track. This much pop magic, extraordinary attention to detail in every little sound, and weird experimentation that adds so much to the tune is the stuff of dreams and only happens once every few thousand musical careers.
Mr.Video, it's an experience to watch you react to songs that are very dynamic! If we, as an audience know where the song is going and what's about to change, watching your reactions to those changes is priceless!
Stay as you are, please. You are putting out a LOT of material out there and growing, I just hope you don't get sick of this. Keep up the good work. 💪
I'm obsessed with the Beach Boys. Always have been. Brain Wilson was the most talented musician ever. I had SUCH a crush on his brother Dennis Wilson (the drummer) RIP... he died by drowning. 😢
K,, me too! Saw them concert once,,, mid 70s,, of course I had to see Dennis Wilson so I was right up stage right. Unfortunately, he needed to be taken off the stage a few times. It wasn't too long after that that he drowned. A lot of people don't know that Brian Wilson did not sing in many of their songs. He produced and wrote from his home studio, and may have provided a background voice here and there. But as you know, he had some mental problems, and couldn't perform on stage. And there was that strange doctor he got involved with.
They used to say there's a thin line between genius and insanity.
@@iowa7693 yes. What a story. Did you ever see the movie: Love and Mercy? John Cusack plays Brian. EXCELLENT movie. I highly recommend it. ❤️
@@user-or1ye3iz6d no, I haven't,, but I'm sure see if I can get it on DVR. Thank you!
They're my mother's favorite band. Was able to take her to see them in 08 when they came to town.
Not a mover like Good Vibrations but... God Only Knows by The Beach Boys was called the greatest song ever written by Paul McCartney
That is my absolute favourite Beach Boys song!
Pet Sounds was a mind bending album.
Need a comma in there. It wasn't written by Paul McCartney. :)
YES!! ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Beach Boys song. And when Paul McCartney says it's the greatest song ever written, you believe it!
Paul McCartney, best celery instrumentalist ever.
This was released at a time when The Beach Boys were fading in popularity a little bit. The Beatles were still tearing up the charts and heavier music was starting to make its way into popular music. Then, this song went #1 and them Boys were back on top again...at least for a little bit.
Brian Wilson is a damn genius. This was all in his head and he made some beautiful music. I'm one of the biggest Beatles fan you'll ever meet (I've been to Liverpool) but Brian Wilson gave the greatest rock n roll band to ever live a good run for their money.
That high-pitched sound in The Beach Boys' 1966 masterpiece "Good Vibrations" is always assumed to be a theremin. But it's not. It's actually an electrotheremin, invented by Paul Tanner.
The theremin is played not by touching it, but by waving your hands between the 2 antenna on the machine to create pitch and volume.
Yeah, you can see the electrotheremin in the video, played like a lap steel.
And it was played by Tanner too. Really cool to have the inventor of an instrument get to play it on a popular song
"Spirit of America" was my first album. "Endless Summer" was my second. I'll echo what others have said here: Brian Wilson is a genius. Gotta react to "God Only Knows." IMHO, an absolutely perfect song.
Hey there Mr.Video, The Beach Boys called the "USA Beatles", Brian Wilson is a very good friend of Paul McCartney, I grew up with all that good 60s music, Beach Boys, Beatles, BeeGees, Hollies, SmallFaces, Byrds etc. unforgettable music, my Beach Boys faves are "friends", "do it again" and "god only knows", try some, please, I like your "crazy" reactions, best to you from "Jogi", Germany, Berlin
Glad you are part of the family Jogi. From Northern Illinois.
@@musicsansnotes thank you for your kind note, Yes I'm glad too and enjoy it so much, have all the Beach Boys and Beatles vinyl records in my collection, Pet Sounds & Sgt. Peppers... should put together as a double album ! stay healthy...Best from Jogi, Germany
This is another group that shaped American rock. America was into beaches and bikinis! Teenage heaven!!!
Absolutely beautiful tune. The genius of Wilson.
Definitely feeling the good vibrations. If you want to turn up the dance more check out the B-52s "Rock Lobster".
Great Song!
Or "Love Shack" by them.
now I have that song stuck in my head for a month again.....
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Rock lobster
Theramin totally amazing instrument.
look it up Bro. ......how to play it is fascinating.
Yes, it is, but it isn’t in this song. This song used an electro-theremin, which is not a real theremin.
@@autumnphillips151 You are right....forgot about that in the excitement of hearing that eerie Theramin like sound. Cheers
A totally hip tune while you're at the beach, by the beach, or anywhere near the beach. Although that could be said about any Beach Boys song. Of course the sweet harmony is so cheerful and soothing.
Warm wishes from San Diego🌞
😊✌
Hi from San Diego too
@@trianafoxwood7525 Hi Triana.😊
The harmonies in this particular song are SO crazy good! Of course, you might be able to say that about ALL Beach Boys songs.
When i first heard this in 1966 i was 11 , i loved it. Still my fave song of all time of any artist. This solidified Brian Wilsons reputation as one of the great music minds.
One rabbit hole you may want to try in the future......."The Doors" They have endless amount of song to enjoy, but just to name a few, try.....Roadhouse Blues, Riders of the storm, L.A Women, Love me Two Times, "The End"
Snakeman 2k19 yes, PLEASE get lost in The Doors. Your smoke will get you right in the groove. The End is long and has a backstory. However, once you start with Love Me 2Times/ Light My Fire you cant come back.
Very cool to see everyone jumping out of their usual music genres. You have so much fun. Keep it up!
Back door man .....
The genius of Brian Wilson matched by the talents of the wonderful Carol Kaye (session bass player)
These reactions get better and better. Have a great weekend.
The next set of Beach Boys tracks
Wouldn't it be nice (album, and live in London)
Kokomo
Barbara Ann
God only knows
Hey, baby!!!! Surfing U.S.A. Little Duece Coupe!!!!
Thank you!!!
Their sideburn game was fieeeeeeeerce
Please keep reacting to more Beach Boys especially Kokomo
I always say "different links" right along with you, every time, LOL
Ditto. ..and jiggle wave my arm too. 😁
Amanda C Me too! And then I think I’m so clever, don’t know why!
And at the end: ''till the next time...'' (''take care of yourself and each other'', from Jerry springer always comes to mind ^^ )
@MrVideo...oooo! I see another Merch 💡😉🤗
@@carmenmehringer9765 😱Yes! Great idea!
Too bad I'm poor though, or I'd have bought something already.
I love how you were mesmerized by their fabulous harmonies... you have some great songs and melodies coming your way as you listen to more of the Beach Boys!!!! HUGS
Seeing your young man's journey makes this Grandma's heart sing. I say this knowing that the right path is not always the quickest path. Keep at it, be patient and flexible, and things will work out for you. Best wishes to you.
Also, I think this is like an extended version of the song, there was a portion toward the end that sounded unfamiliar to me (and I've heard this song a lot).
Nick Cangemi yeah...this is the 70s or 80s remake when they went on tour.
I was wondering what the added part was. I've heard this song hundreds of times but never this version. I'm glad someone explained what was going on.
I think it’s the version from the Smile sessions but I’m not 100% that’s where I’ve heard that section before.
The boys are here. Check out the Thin Lizzy "The Boys are Back" to find out what happens when the boys get back in town.
The stuff looks good on the walls!
I know!! I wish I had one of those lynyrd skynyrd signs...they're my all time fav!!
I've lived long enough to see the old become new again. 😀
Their harmonies were amazing
I thought you fell asleep 😂 only for a second 😂
Me too thought maybe he was gonna start snoring bahaha
They used to call this surfer rock
I get around and california girls are bangers
I saw them in 1961 at a military base movie theater in Hawaii for 15 cents. Lip synching of course. Dion, Gene Pitney and the Shirelles were also there. I was 13.
It isn't very pretty what a town without pity can do. Lol, did he have other hits?
Saw them at Arrowhead stadium in KC👍1982!! They were great👋👋👋
"I Get Around", "Kokomo"
Your dancing though! 🤣😂 Love it. My mom would dance around the living room to this when my sister and I were small. Probably still does every once in a while 🤣 She still has her record player and vinyl of all the greats from the late 50s to the late 80s.
Thanks to my dad being a fan, I grew up listening to the Beach boys. Lots of nostalgia when I hear any of their songs.
this song is one of my favorites beach boys are awesome i first heard this when my mom had it playin the radio when i was 12 in 2002
We only had one or two radio stations then, and this echoed through the day all day everyday. I still listen to it often
Do “in my room” a whole different vibe.
Love The Beach Boys so much, when I was about 6 I got to see them in concert 😁
The very first “ Symphonic “ Pop record ever made...the genius of Brian Wilson
Sublime; genius. Also, laughed my friggin' arse off watching you reanimate after the quieter bits. Love ya Leo, you rock. I knew this song when I was 6 years old. OMG.
This is EXACTLY my comment … you beat me to it. 😁
Love the beach boys. Was at a concert for them when they yelled for the balcony to sing (I think sing) and I just remember a voice yelling back "there is no balcony".
Great song and love your reactions as always. Always makes me smile.
Feel good music...this is my mom's era, but being born in 1971 I heard it plenty on the radio. Moody Blues, The Doors, Mamas and the Pappas...heck, just listen to the Woodstock soundtrack or watch the movie. Music transitioned from the 60's to the 70's sound...and that time was pure magic.
They're harmonies are genius...beautiful
This song was decades ahead of its time. It was pure genius for the 50s and would be at home in the 70s.
The Beach Boys started the California Love ❤️! 😎🌼🌞🌊🌊 The vibes are real! 🏄🏻♀️🏄🏻♂️🌊🌊😎
And the surfing craze.
This song is an absolute masterpiece.. As good as anything the Beatles ever put out.
Brian is a weird beautiful genius.
He made these amazing melodies while only having the use of one ear
I was only 9 y/o when this song came out, but I remember listening to it on my tiny transistor radio. I think I've seen the Beach Boys a dozen times when I became a big girl. (Billy Joel use to open for them in the '70s.) They were nice enough to learn and cover a song called "Carolina Girls" by General Johnson and The Chairman of the Board when they toured North and South Carolina, a "beach music" classic. Good memories.
Best weed song imo. The verses have such a gentle and soothing sound and the chorus just makes you smile.
Cabin Essence is my beach boys weed song
Different kind of 'Beach' vibe: Dick Dale 'Misirlou'
AC/DC...DIRTY DEEDS
The instrument is a Theremin. The other place you may have heard it is the opening theme music from the original Star Trek series. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin
Thanks I was wondering what that instrument was also 👍
The Theremin is outta this world! Aliens might've had a part in creatin it. Wonderful instrument! 👽🎶👽
Best use of a Theramin besides what these guys did with it was for the soundtrack to Forbidden Planet.
😍
It's not a theremin it's a tannerin sometimes called an electrotheremin. Similar sound but played differently.
Back in 1991 i took my then 10yr old son to a Beach Boy concert & it was so much fun & we will always remember. i get the chills too! 🙄😆😂
I remember seeing the Beach Boys on the Fourth of July many years ago. Baseball, hot dogs, Chevrolet's, long summer days in the July heat, and the Beach Boys. America!
I LOVE THE WAY YOU CHAIR DANCE
YOU MADE MY MORNING. I DANCED ALL THE WAY TO MY COFFEE MAKER
You should have WAY more followers! Your reactions are THE BEST! So many channels are just “yeah, I like it”, “it’s good”. You really get into it and enjoy what you are doing and provide hilarious commentary! 💜
This was '67 if I remember correctly.
You gotta do a song called 409 by the Beach Boys it's about a car.
Sloop John B & Little Deuce Coup are good ones too.
Fun Fact about the Beach Boys: They were a 60s band, but they stayed super-popular well into the 70s- every commercial break on TV seemed to have a spot for a K-Tel Records Beach Boys collection when I was a kid, and all the elementary school kids still listened to them. I've come to learn since that they even had a Saturday morning cartoon series in development. In 1980 & 81, they played the Capitol Mall in DC on the 4th of July. They were expected to do it again in 1983, but Secretery of the Interior James Watt intervened and banned rock music from the 4th of July celebrations because he felt it would draw an "undesirable element" to the Mall. He instead booked Wayne Newton to much public mockery. Who was more all-American than the Beach Boys? All their songs are about surfing, hot rods and girls...
It got worse for Watt when Ronald Reagan revealed that he *liked* the Beach Boys, and presented Watt with a plaster trophy of a foot with a bullet hole in it.
I love the way Brian Wilson, a bassist himself features the legendary Bass Guitarist Carol Kay and puts the Bass on the top of the mix, using it as a lead instrument rather than hiding the Bass at the back of the mix hidden behind other instruments. When have access to a bassist as good as Carol Kaye, you use her as a featured player.
C A L I F O R N I A. G I R L S. by The Beach Boys
Carl Wilson what a voice.. the vibration is good, hard to believe it's been so long. Crazy stuff out on that beach - Beautiful women tanning in the warmth of the sun, surfs up man, catch a wave and your sitting on top of the world. Love to another great reaction my friend.
Such simple happy music. I love their music when I just want to remain in a good mood and dance around the house.💖
I think it’s the smile version
The first time I ever heard a Beastie Boys song on the radio I thought I heard the DJ say "Beach Boys." OMG! My reaction when they started playing "You Gotta Fight For Your Right..." I thought to myself "damn, what happened to the Beach Boys." Love them both. That was a few years ago, 1987 I was in the USMC and stationed in 29 Palms CA. THAT's how much it impacted me, I can remember exactly where I was. haha
You MUST listen to the Beach Boys "Sail On Sailor." My fave of all the Beach Boys... a surprisingly different sound from them. Love your reactions!!
Awesome song with Blondie Chaplin on lead vocal.
Hello from Hawthorne California! Hometown of the beach boys!
I grew up in Lennox.
Man you had me grinning from ear to ear seeing you dancing in the beginning. Made my whole day
the greatest song ever composed in the history of music.
The Beach Boys are just simply the sound of Summer for all time.
Man, you HAVE to do "God Only Knows"! That's not only the most beautiful Beach Boys song, it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written. If this gave you chills, "God Only Knows" will blow your mind.
Brian Wilson is one of the best song writers ever! Love your reaction!! 😂😂
You are ADORABLE!! And ALL the Beach Boys music is AWESOME!! LOVE SEEING YOU DANCE!! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Beach Boys were your classic surfer band of the 50s. This song was on Endless Summer and I wore out my dad’s original press on Vinyl. The Beach Boys put out great music.
How can you not love The Beach Boys? My parents had their music on 8 Track and my sisters and I played it constantly!
LOVE your reaction!!! That is a smooth groove. Starts off slow and then kicks right in gear and you're grooving hard. Never heard this version before .... wow ....
awesome song with the best harmonies in this classic band. thx for sharing Mr. Video!
Another absolute banger... it's one of those unique songs that will never get old.. a true classic....😎
The Beach Boys can put anyone in a good mood after listen their music... 🌹Much love Mr.video 💋💖
IMO you officially have the best reaction to this song. Period.
At 5:10 when you just sat back was perfect. And 5:23 with that sweet smile melted my heart 🤗
You are so open to new things and I can truly see you appreciate them. Good on ya!
I'm ready for another gift opening session!
Ahhh ...reliving my childhood/teen years!!! This is the go to song to raise your spirit and the song "In My Room" is the ultimate anthem for the love/need for solitude(this mellow tune soothes teen angst,BigTime). Both highly recommended, dear friend.💕💕💕💕👍👍👍👍
Two brothers, a cousin and a couple of kids down the block, sold more records than any other US band in history. Not bad. Glad to see the headphones. They are a must for classic rock.
Beach Boys "Kokomo" is a MUST!!!
Hi Leo! Please, please pretty please react to "Joker" by The Steve Miller Band! You will love it! I promise!!! Sending Lots of Love and Light from one of your loyal subs!
Sweet! I love that you dig all kinds of music!! Your channel rocks!!!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👍👍👍. Get it Mr. Video!!! I never get enough of tour reactions!!! Much love!!! ❤️
That was awesome! I'm glad you closed your eyes and listened and enjoyed it.
Thank you Leo! Making our days brighter, much love 😎
There is their classic "Wipe Out" which was recorded in the 60's, which they later redid with the rappers The Fat Boys. My favorite Beach Boys song was recorded when they were much older called Kokomo
Wipe Out was an instrumental by the Safaris, but the Beach Boys did do a version with the Fat Boys.
@@kitoyobeni1 Thank you I was like wait, what? lol
You would probably love the "Vega-Tables" Song from The Beach Boys. But this is a more experimental Beach Boys song. The songs that made them big is more like "Surfin' USA", "California Girls", "I Get Around", "Help Me, Rhonda", "Fun, Fun, Fun".
