    This seems exactly what I have going on with my 700r 07,Mike I started watching your videos just before I got this bike 4 years ago and haven’t stopped watching since,you cover a lot and help the average to semi mechanical diy. I also enjoy you,Pete Hager and guy’s riding.Please keep up the good work and interesting things. Raptor Rob from Mi. 52 and still riding.

    I’ve been studying these raptor 700 videos of yours for a while and am in the process of rebuilding mine to a 734. And every single bolt on my engine was also tighter than dicks hat band. I don’t think anyone has been in my engine before, my theory is how hot the engine runs. But thanks for the videos. Cuervo has tons of great tips, but he doesn’t video the grunt work like you do that I need to do the basic tear downs.

    I bent a breaker bar the other day changing from winter steel rims to summer alloy rims, someone had just gunned the bolts on with an impact gun, way to tight.. hate it when people can’t just fasten stuff right.

    Your right the raptor will have started with an A piston then you go up a size B C or D to compensate for the wear to the cylinder

      I pulled the cylinder head off a friends 2007 700 to replace the blown head gasket. He's the original ownwr and has never had the head off. His piston has a B on it.

    do you have a part 4 to this video ?? exploring a similar issue on our rhino 700, mine still runs but has a rod knock. Thinking it might be the cylinder / rod connection or worst case rod crank bearing gone out leading to some heavy piston slap.

    Is that the correct size piston for the bore? You can see a gap all the way around the piston and you can see a lot of the piston ring.

    Would you recommend me doing a rebuild on my bike if I’m not a mechanic or an experienced person with engines or my local bike shop doing it? I currently need to do a bottom end and top end on it because the person who had my bike previously abused the hell out of it and didn’t change anything on it since they bought it. It also has very low compression so the quad doesn’t start at all but it turns over and over and over.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  6 років тому +1

      If you're mechanically inclined and good at figuring things out, then I think you can do it with the service manual, internet forums and UA-cam. It's really not that bad as long as you take your time and stay organized. Take pictures as you're disassembling things so you can see how everything was when it comes time to put it back together.

    that is a new jug and piston. notice the color difference. anyways i just wanted to say i like your videos and i thought u would like to help me with something. i have a raptor 660 and i blew it up a while ago so i threw titanium valves and a 12:1 686cc cp piston w a stage 3 hot cam and it runs amazing. but when i ride it, in 5th gear, it acts like the clutch is slipping. i put a new clutch on it and it still has the issue. any ideas?

    • @pcostyle11
      @pcostyle11 6 років тому +1

      Tyler Talarico u changed springs too? If u put another stock clutch maybe its not strong enough for your new build

    • @tylertalarico1896
      @tylertalarico1896 6 років тому

      thats the thing. i have to pull the motor to work on the clutch so i gave it to a shop and they put a “clutch kit” on it and i dont know if they changed the springs but i was thinking it was springs. thanks for the help

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  6 років тому

      I think you might be right on it being a newer cylinder. I agree that you may need new/stronger springs or you may just need to adjust your clutch cable (that's free so I'd start there). The other thing that's common is that if you're not using the recommended oil in your clutch, that can cause it to slip. One other thing, if it's a cheapie clutch, they tend to start slipping right off the bat especially with a big bore set up. Hope this helps! Thank you for the compliments man!

    The crankshaft will have to be turned if not to badly scored , if scored to much you will need a new crankshaft and maybe a rod.
