Yamaha raptor 350 and Yamaha warrior 350 engine rebuild part 1

- My chain popped off, wrapping around the front sprocket, breaking the old chain guard off putting two holes in the side of my case. To fix it right I split the case to get it welded. This is a step by step guide to reassembling the two case halves including all the transmission gears and reverse axle assembly.

7 years later and this is probably the most helpful video still today on a warrior rebuild. Thanks brother
Have you found his other videos
I'm an auto technician, just picked up an 06 raptor 350. Haven't torn into it but I'm pretty sure the pin on the cam sheared causing it to jump time and bend the valves. Never split the case on a qaud before but I think I'm gonna go ahead just to make sure everything is good inside. Good video and great job getting involved with projects like this! We need more men in the world that can actually fix things.
Never had a problem with my 350 warriors, just wanted them to go faster.. So hats off to you bro...
Great video! When I took mine apart, the shaft to the high wheel gear had the half-circle side up. If you look in both sides of the casing, they both half the half-circle in the casting to accept and lock it in, so it can go either way. Not sure if someone got into mine before me, likely. It certainly makes mating the casings back together easier by being able to lock it into the left casing first like NGeorgia did, or you have to keep trying to mate the casing halves until you have the shaft perfect. But I worry that there is an oil flow design that requires it to go in one way or the other. Assurances that it definitely goes in the way NGeorgia did it welcomed.
Thanks. I really like your video and I hope that you upload part 2.
Thanks you made my day it's my first time working on my and I'm using the Manuel and it helps and by watching you do it inspired me to keep going thanks for this video you made
i just bought a 2000 yamaha warrior 350 for a good deal but the only bad thing is the motor was tornn apart so i got put it together. So sat im gonna start on it. but u made it look easy and simple so thx man.
I had not split cases in years. Thanks for the video, great job saved me lots of time.
Mine is full of metal from a failed oil pump. Pain in the ass cleaning everything. I just posted a quick vid. This video helped as well the book was a little confusing not that I don't know how to do it but I wanted to make sure everything was there since the previous owner was into the engine
Great video for sure helped me a lot for a first time put together.
Where’s part 2 lol
Hey man, thanks a lot for the detailed video you saved me a bunch of time
Well done on the video just fixed my brother 1987 Warriors 350 motor
if you dont put the counter weight gear in / timed correctly it can smack on the crank. if it gets in a bind it will likely bust the case. just be careful
You made this so easy to do, and thank you..
great video huge help, im about to rebuild my white 1990 warrior to get her goin again.
Thank you, got mine as a box of parts and was able to reassemble it thank to you

Great video! I wish you can do one for the Raptor 700 engine

Inside the case of the 700 everything should be somewhat similar
LOL I wish I had enough money for that :)

Just curious, did you ever get the chance to upload parts 2 & 3 of this video?
Good work, nice video and great detail in your video btw!
Have a question . The fly wheel on the one I am working on has been removed from starter gear . Is their a certain place the fly wheel goes on hub . This 350 warrior has been worked on before i bought it broke down. I have manual but it does not show were fly wheel mounts on hub . Could you tell me were TDC is located near keyway. The people that had it before me removed fly wheel from hub . I am having time in problems...Thank you God bless you
Thanks for posting this!
So if you put it in neutral is the sprocket supposed to still spin because mine is.
Alright how you doin quick ? That reverse shift drum does it have a certain place to set I mean the shift folk rode goes in the drum so when goes it move out of that line if you get what I mean help
Hey boss where's part 2 and 3 of raptor build
So I rebuilt warrior 350. Put a new piston from amazon in it because it had a 5 star rating. Crankshaft spins fine, new timing chain and valve clearance is set properly. Once I install cam the motor only turn half way and stop forward or backwards. No spark plug is in it so it should spin freely but it’s not. I took the cam back out and noticed a deep scratch inside head like cam is too big to spin but it’s the original cam and was spinning fine before the rebuild. TDC is perfect so idk what else it could be to cause the original cam to not turn. Can someone give me suggestions please?
Helped! thanks
Good job
Good vid, currently rebuilding a 93 warrior right now. Do have one question tho, when I cracked open the case there was a large machined washer in the bottom. Any idea where It could of came from?
I did as well, it goes to the starter gear mine always made a awful noise while starting but was fine afterwards. Threw that washer on when I split my block and no noise
Hey man huge help but my reverse shifter locks the output shaft when its turn clockwise, is it a negligible detail or so I need to tear into it?
What part number is that book? I cant find it. All i find is the owners manual that does not go into detail like that book
No part 2 darn
If the warrior and raptor are the exact same then how come warriors don't have a rev limiter?
One question why no gasket or silicone?
What would you charge to rebuild my warrior motor may not need much
good vid homie your funny
Do you have to put a gasket in the middle of the case? because my warrior is slowly leaking oil out of the seam in the middle
Yes ether put a good quality gasket which is highly recommended but you could also use gasket maker.
@@wyattkalbaugh4053ok thanks a lot
Can you rebuild mine cash on deck and ill bring it too you brand new everything just need bottom end built
What are the bearing sizes can some help me..
When I split my engine apart...
I head a little steel ball Fallout....
Checked ALL !!!!! bearings they're good....
Any idea or suggestion what it may be for......
PLEASE HELP......
Top of the reverse drum on the case with the bolt and washer with the spring
top of the case, the the back by reverse. there is a bolt on top and it goes in there
Nice 👍🏿
Hey can someone please help me!!!, i called and asked about why my raptor 350 wont start and they said it was the spring in the head. whats the cheapest way to go and fix this?
Can someone send me link to part 2 and 3 of this rebuild for some reason I am unable to find them
saved my ass brotha
I can't get the final gear in place. It rubs up against other ones. Just bought a warrior come to find out it had a blown piston and rod. I was only told clutch. Any tips or something I'm doing wrong?
Make sure the gears are facing the right way on the shafts. and make sure the washers are all there. I put mine together once without rtv to check the shifting. Just from one of the gears being on upside down it threw everything out of line.
Where’s 2 and 3
au top ton tuto +++++++
wheres part two?
Pro Zack I should have them up by Sunday. I have all the footage, I just have to edit and upload them. I'm slammed right now with college
i gotcha bout to tear into a warrior motor myself trying to learn some stuff lol
Pro Zack Awesome! there's only one way to learn and that's by doing it. This was my first time splitting the case on a motor. if you have any questions on specs or anything, just ask. I can look in the manual for you.
Thanks. you got it running yet?
Pro Zack Nah I still don't have it in the frame. When I restored this qaud I took it all the way down to the frame and gave everything a fresh coat of paint. I've got everything back together except the motor. I've got it up at the shop sitting by the frame ready to put in just haven't got around to it yet. Hopefully this weekend I'll get it running
Bro whart your ig ?
I did a left casings whop now I'm having trouble getting it running some reason the carburetor is pushing air out instead of sucking it in do you have any ideas
