As a runner who is training for a marathon, these foam rollers ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx9XSsjzA4f84VmhBCHlyhec7XILIxennL are really good for sore and tight muscles. This one is a good size (mine is the purple, 36 inches) not too big but big enough to work and roll both my legs at the same time - I took a photo holding the roller next to me just to provide a better representation of its size. I noticed some reviewers who complained that this is, “just a foam noodle”… and yes, that’s exactly what it is. It’s a high density foam roller. It is absolutely NOT the same consistency/strength/durability/ or texture as a ‘pool noodle’ thought and I disagree entirely with those that say so. As a former collegiate athlete and marathon runner, I’m comfortably giving this roller 5 stars. It’s lightweight and durable and does just what I need it to do at a budget-friendly price. Overall, I have no complaints and am happy with it!

The lumbar curve was reduced while the thoracic curve was either the same or just slightly worse. I had less pain and he said I should wear it till I was 18 at least and that afterwords it would be useless. I kept wearing it till I was 35 then I thought I would get rid of it. all good, till after 5 months I started to have lots of pain like sciatica in my lower back and down my hip, left knee.. the side where the crest of the pelvis was lower (where I used to have to heel lift). The pain worsened...also, I was doing pilates and other exercises I was taught as a young patient (exercises to help cope with scoliosis I was taught for a few months on a weekly based by an expert when I was 16). I had never had such a terrible pain in my life, I could not stand or alk anymore for more than 20 minutes. I was fine when sitting or laying in bed. My doctor said that I should see a phisiotherapist. I insisted that I wanted to see a more competent person (like a doctor who studied 15 years to become an expert about posture and scoliosis, but he insisted that a physiotherapist was good enough). The physiotherapist told me (after a thorough) assessment) that my scoliosis (actually my lumbar curve) was not there when I lay on the bed, but just when I stood up. That it was a sort of scoliosis cause but postural problems that that even if my legs had the same length I had to wear a heel lift (15 mm). He said a heel lift would be useful if my scoliosis was still there in all sort of positions but that in my case it would do the job. I started wearing a 6mm heel lift since I did not trust him (20 years before the specialist said I should wear a smaller one; half the real gap). I felt better within the following 2 days and I had 2 great months: no pain!!! now some pain is back but on the other side of the pelvis, the hip without the heel lift (the right side) it is not as bad as the pain I had on the left side, not at all, but it is annoying. If I take the heel lift off )from the left shoe) I will go back having that unbearable pain...I am 40, I do lots of core exercises and have a very strong core, I do lots of exercises all the best ones for scoliosis... any advice?

I got a 30min Schroth therapy once. My spine was completely stuck afterwards and I couldn't move for 2 weeks, not even sit down or get up without help. Had a chiropractic treatment and it got way better within 2 days. Don't work too hard against the curve
Very good video and I gave it a thumbs up, but it's a little misleading at the start. The spine curve of the skeleton which is facing the same way we viewers are is to the left. But transposing it to the person facing us puts the curve to the right.
The picture on the right is showing a left convexed scoliosis, and your exercises are for a right convexed one ! The foam roller has to be on the convex side of the scoliosis !
I have a scoliosis in my upper back, but whenever i'm trying to sleep laying on my right side, that really hurts some of my left ribs (the lower ones), it kind of gives some preasure idk. Could this exercise be helpful?
Scroths method = Mobilization without Specific strengthening/ Real addressing So itll MOST likely come back to exactly! How the scoliosis was over the amount of time you were using this method for. This is from my personal Experience, Scoliosis is best addressed with Yoga and becoming aware of your OWN biomechanics and Ergonomics. Goodluck! Just be Healthy, take care
Mine is beyond correcting with this, but they had me do this in physical therapy and it really helps. I just did it and I can breathe alot better. Not sure if my exact curve, but it's bad... The whole left side of my body sticks out and recently my hips and knees are out of wack bc of it.

Hi! I have scoliosis in my lumbar spine (dextro concave scoliosis). Can I use a foam roller in my lumbar area to make the spine straight, or this move is only for a thoracic scoliosis?
just found this channel! amazing! tysm! curious if there are any exercises or stretches to fix head tilt. not sure if it's from scoliosis or strabismus? maybe both? my one hip is a little higher also. Found this out after fracturing foot and having hard cast put on. lasted less than 24 hrs in hard cast bc and was booted AMA bc of severe pain it caused hip. worse than the cractures in foot. i bought myself an inversion table last year; recently, though, my lower back feels like it is squeezed together (i think the decompression videos accurately describes that pain & makes most sense) will be trying those exercises this evening! tysm!!

Maybe theres a way i can get help from u online and work out something in terms of payment if u r game....i dont know which way the xray he took is from- the front or back- coz ineed ro know in order to treat myself.guy never answered my questions really....i disnt want to get angry..coz hes older. If u can help...let me know my friend..it would help me alot.. Thanks 4 ur time.
I have an S shaped scoliosis with the larger curve being on upper right side and the other one being on the lower left side (just above the waist). Should I lay on the foam roller for each of these in sequence?
The anatomical pic shows curve towards left and that body moves right correct! (Because the pic shows posterior part of body, you are trying that anterior ) So you have to place roller under left T10 - L5 ( I thing) , is that clear???
Jason Park yes he showed in the video that if you should put the roller on the opposite side to put the pressure on the curve side and straighten the curve. i have been sleeping with a rolled towel like this and doing this exercise for about a week and i’m slowly but definitely getting results. hope this helped :)

+Alex Ashley this technique will definitely help . but if its at 36 degrees , you should look for a specialist or even scoliosis bracing. speak to your local chiropractor
Yes! I had 2 curves also. One in the top and one in the bottom half of my spine. I would take a memory foam/ hard pillow and sort of fold it in half and lay my straight side on top of it. If you noticeably have one half of your body straight and the other like an ⌛️then lay the straight side on the roller or pillow. You could probably position the roller or whatever you use lower to fit where you need it. Just try placing it in diff spots until you feel the difference, you will feel the pain be relieved lol. I used to do this every night and sleep in that position since it was comfy for me. I ended up getting my spine fused with the surgery from t1-L5 so yea like my whole spine lmao. But my surgeon did get me X-rays of recreating that position and it made my spine straighten out while I was like that! It ofc would go back to the snake shape after but it was cool to see. Hope this works for you!
@@nickbossbg5636 I ended up never doing this, but I really should have. I might consider doing it but I have also been doing stretches from a video by Austin Goh. They relieve all of the pain but I have not noticed any change in my spine yet.

David Audette Hi sydney . I really reccomend going to a chiropractor and get x-rayed to see the seriousness of your scoliosis . and get treated properly
You need to go get a brace and wear it!!! Man, I wish I wore mine at your age. Got diagnosed at 13. I'm 40 now and it's 100x worse and I'm in constant pain. Can't even get it to crack anymore. At your age, cracking would release all the pain. Get it and wear it! Go see a specialist and they custom make them for you to prevent it from getting worse! When you take it off, you feel like a limp noodle. Lol

Hello guy:) thanks à lot to answer! Ok I Will do both! Thanks for those exercices for sciatic but I use since 3 years to do That and I always stiff in my right bottom and low back and wick in my left leg:) My chiro and ostéophate guy always told me to release my left thoracic spine And left side muscle of the waist first ! If not I Will always have I stiff right bottom and wick left legs! Know I start to anderstand 2 years after :)) I never listen because and I work my bottom and legs :) And after your exercice for sciolose , I fell good from all my body!! Thanks!
This is not the Schroth method. She makes it clear that you should never lay on the convex (rib hump) side because it can actually further rotate the spine into the direction it is already rotated, making the scoliosis worse. Be careful with UA-cam exercises, anyone with scoliosis should consult a physical therapist, doctor, or other medical professional before attempting.
I don't understand on which side to put the foam roller because that red line from the picture, which shows the back of the persons back, becomes the opposite side when the red line is transferred to you? If my curve is similar to the person in the illustrated picture, should the foam roller be on my left side?
I’m pretty sure that would be the left side of you haven’t already figure that out lol. Basically the side of your body that is straight is the side you put it on, it could be diff for you but for me one side of my torso was straight and the other side was an hourglass shape.

I got a 30min Schroth therapy once. My spine was completely stuck afterwards and I couldn't move for 2 weeks, not even sit down or get up without help. Had a chiropractic treatment and it got way better within 2 days. Don't work too hard against the curve
Thank u
Has anyone had spinal surgery for lumbar scoliosis? Does it help?
Please have more videos on Scoliosis. I need that . Thanks xx
Me too
I heard that an overcorrection of the curve is not recommendable. So you would have to choose the right size of the foamroller/towel.
The foam roller
has to be on the convex side of the scoliosis !
if you read on the right off the picture it said to put the foam roller on the convex side
I have a scoliosis in my upper back, but whenever i'm trying to sleep laying on my right side, that really hurts some of my left ribs (the lower ones), it kind of gives some preasure idk. Could this exercise be helpful?
Samehere !
Left hand side sleep feels good
My curve is to the left so I should put the towl on the left side or right side ?
How frequently should I do this?
My spine was fused, not with metal. Can I still do this?? thank you so much for this.
thanks alot, this exercise relives me of my pain. I hope u can do more schliosis exercises to strengthen the lower back
+ABDULLAHI IBRAHIM im glad this has helped you
any update?
I hope this works I'm going to try this tomorrow.
Do you a video for uneven hips?
i have thoracic scoliosis where the curve is on the upper part of my spine going to neck. i'm wondering if this method would help me correct my spine
Uhmm I ask what Happened?
Pro tip: If a chiropractor cracks your back and tells you that will help with your scoliosis. Leave and never go back :)
Yeah so true, those guys tell you so many BS, I’ll fixe your scoliosis only with trusting your back. LMAO
Wait why?
@@houakhang8954 Because it won't fix scoliosis. That's why. Those "pops" and "cracks" are just air like cracking your knuckles. Doesn't do anything except make noise to make it seem like they are fixing you. Facts
@@MoD3RnHD they can definitely fix the pain
@A. S Nope, based on experience working in rehab and researching outcomes of treatment for scoliosis :) Anything else?
I have that same G-Shock watch! Love the black and gold
I bought a foam roller at Ross today and I'm going to start doing this exercise daily. I'm 37 and have a decent curve in my lower back that's about 30 degrees.
any updates?
Hi! I have scoliosis in my lumbar spine (dextro concave scoliosis). Can I use a foam roller in my lumbar area to make the spine straight, or this move is only for a thoracic scoliosis?
Hello, I have lumbar scoliosis too. Did your scolios get better?
Hi! if the thoracic curve is a secondary curve to compensate for the lumbar one, why would you do this exercise? shouldn't you tackle the lumbar one?
just found this channel! amazing! tysm! curious if there are any exercises or stretches to fix head tilt. not sure if it's from scoliosis or strabismus? maybe both? my one hip is a little higher also. Found this out after fracturing foot and having hard cast put on. lasted less than 24 hrs in hard cast bc and was booted AMA bc of severe pain it caused hip. worse than the cractures in foot.
i bought myself an inversion table last year; recently, though, my lower back feels like it is squeezed together (i think the decompression videos accurately describes that pain & makes most sense) will be trying those exercises this evening! tysm!!
If i have scoliosis in right position of my body, whaat direction i must do to place the roller? In left or right side of my body?
U r One of the few that shows this method. Am based in the US...I have been thrown around like a pinball shelling money in a "max profit min work"health system. Saw a chiropractic and got diagnosed with
1. Segmental and somatic dysfunction of cervical region
2. Cervicalgia
3. Segmental and somatic dysfunction of lumbar region
4. Lumbar facet syndrome.
... dont think is scoliosis...guy just threw me on machines and never asked me anything else. Have been boxing for 6 years and a history of heavy weight lifitng and sports. Have digestive diacomfort...my left shoulder is up and i feel left shoulder is also rotated forward. When i breath in deep inhales..my left shoulder seems to go up and qhen i exhale it goes down..also inhaling my lower abdomen goes left a bit...hips seem a little shiteed right- smh. .. got medium pain in lower thoracic and upper lumbar region..after the treatmwnt for about 3 months everything seemed to get worse...he told me i was better..
.smh....i have his diagnostic exam..xrays and tests. Feel totally off.
Fabulous video!! Thank you!!
Finally something that's helped! and it's Australian which is even better 👌🏻
Thank you!!!
Great tips 😍
I have 11 degrees Levoscoliosis in the thoracic spine. Will this help me? What side do I try this on?
How many times a week to do do the foam roller technique?
I have an S shaped scoliosis with the larger curve being on upper right side and the other one being on the lower left side (just above the waist). Should I lay on the foam roller for each of these in sequence?
Thank you
The anatomical pic shows curve towards left and that body moves right correct! (Because the pic shows posterior part of body, you are trying that anterior )
So you have to place roller under left T10 - L5 ( I thing) , is that clear???
Very well explained ! 👍
So if I my left rib is sticking out, do I lay on right side on the foam roller?
I have the same question, not sure if someone can clarify. thanks in advance
Jason Park yes he showed in the video that if you should put the roller on the opposite side to put the pressure on the curve side and straighten the curve. i have been sleeping with a rolled towel like this and doing this exercise for about a week and i’m slowly but definitely getting results. hope this helped :)
Miquel Sanahuja ^^^
@@semyt3781 have you seen a difference in the curve or is it just relief from the pain?
Can you do this on the floor or do you have to be on top of something?
what happen if i do that for years?
lets say i have a right convex scorliosis
then it will get back to normal and turn later into a left convex?
I did the foam roller. It literally took like a week to see results. Just keep track and do it everydau
@@nathanchocomint I know this comment is 1 year old but I really need help. If i do this, and if i strengthen my lover lumbar convex side and if i stretch my right concave side will my scoliosis get fixed? I am 16. Please answer me.
@@senbon751 Not sure about the strengthening and stretching but the foam roller will definitely work. I highly recommend seeing a doctor for an X-ray so you know the exact place to put the foam roller at
@@nathanchocomint I know where to put it, I can feel the spine and see it going to left, but will this work only temporary, let's say 1 hour and then the spine will get worse (back as it was) and if i don't do it 1 fay it will get back as it was or will it actually fix it?
@@senbon751 What? No, if the degree of scoliosis lessens then it will stay that way unless you do something to fuck up your spine. I recommend doing it everyday, you should be able to see good results in a week or two
Hi sir, ive a right lumbar scoliosis since my sugery of ACL knee. Ive also a Femoral acetabular impegment (FAI). I never pain in my back before the sugery because i do a lots of sports like karate (10 years)... i think the pressure of the right scoliosis make pain in my femoral hips ? thx
+Charles PERSAND please try out the other exercises with foam rolling the lower back and thoracic foam rolling .
on this channel it will definitely help you.
the thing is i don’t have scoliosis on my lower back I only have scoliosis on my upper back so I don’t know if the appendix point is different
Beautiful!
Hello mister Activ:)
Thanks for answers but what is the vidéo you talk about for my pains:)?!
I whish you a good day.
+Sabrina Boukhemacha whats pains do you have?
I have a 36 for my degree of scoliosis. I have 3 curves but there is one that is the biggest of the 3. Would this technique help me? How long would it take by estimate?
+Alex Ashley this technique will definitely help . but if its at 36 degrees , you should look for a specialist or even scoliosis bracing. speak to your local chiropractor
Yours tshirt very nice ...what is the name of Company of this tshirt sir...kindly tell me?
Oh thank you. I got it at a budget store. Haha
my right side is higher to I lay on that side with foam roller
What size foam roller?
Would this still help if I have a double curve but my bottom curve is a lot worse than the top
My scoliosis is 31 degrees, previously 29. How long do you think it will take until it gets to around 10? Is it possible?
Any Results?
@@nickbossbg5636 I ended up never doing this, but I really should have. I might consider doing it but I have also been doing stretches from a video by Austin Goh. They relieve all of the pain but I have not noticed any change in my spine yet.
Please don’t wait. It will worsen much i think… because you started curving so early. If it gets too severe it could require surgery.
I have curve same as shown in the picture in this video that means it curves in left and the right part is out. So which side should i use roller left or right. What i think is the curve is on left so it should be used on left but the video is showing on right. Plz help
i have a S curvature so if i bend like this my lumbar curve will worsen as i fix thoracic curve . what can i do
+Dallas Dalton I dont think the s curves get worst as you fix your thoracic. u can do these exercises try it with a foam roller first
Have you tried it? Any changes?
I have mid scoliosis hopes this works
I have an s curve and am fused t9 to pelvis. Would it be effective to do this on my unfused thoracic curve?
Hi. My name is Sydney. I am 11 years old. I had scoliosis 2 months ago when my OT and my nurse saw that my back were curved into a S curve . Now I have back pain due to my scoliosis and my left leg. I need your help.
David Audette Hi sydney . I really reccomend going to a chiropractor and get x-rayed to see the seriousness of your scoliosis . and get treated properly
Can it reduce mild scoliosis? (I'm 14 btw)
Lol
Okay quick question, so when I do the exercise with the foam roller, my rib literally starts to stick out. Is that normal?
you forgot to mention how many minutes a day??????????
Am lucky to find your video, as I have mild scoliosis of spine to the right . I hope that my spine will be back to normal using your method. Do you have a video on fixing cervical region, as mine is on mild scoliosis to the left ? Much thanks
I have mild too man. Hope you get better. I'm 19 so I'm hoping my spine corrects itself
FUCK well it definitely won't correct itself without ur help 😔 only exercises for midl ones
Andy Kristanto this comment was 10 month ago so how are you now ?
JoeDaPro7 GT bro ur comment is one month ago
your comment is about a year ago, how it goes with you now ?
hey how long it will take to recover
Guled Uchiha it depends on the severity of your scoliosis and where it is as well .
It's best to be managed by a chiropractor or a specialist.
If I have my concave side on the left, where should I put the towel, on the right or on the left?
on the right side :) it’ll make u look more symmetrical as well. im doing this so i can be more confident in a crop top/bathing suit. good luxk
does it work if you do it on the floor without the ball?
Michelle Tomerlin No

does it make a difference if i lay there for an hour
+CreepaFTW try not to do it for too long u may cause spasming which may make it worst
What is the perfect amount of time for this workout

Hello sir:)
Great exercice but it helps when you have IT band syndrome as well?! Maybe it´s my small Scoliosis and asymetric back cause of my It band pain?!
it´s better to correct the IT band pain first or do you exercice for sciolosis?!! Or both ?!
In the past I have seen chiropastors in 'Paris for my back pain but it´s away come back after:)) ( the pain).
Thanks you very much for your answer!
+Sabrina Boukhemacha you can always try both . these exercise are pretty safe and can hardly create major damage.
ua-cam.com/video/PYnx1Hhj04I/v-deo.html
Could i pinch a nerve by doing this exercise?
so basically your stretching the opposite side???
Shall I have to put the foam roller on concave side or convex side. My left shoulder is higher than the right side so I have pain on my left side rib cage
Place it on the side that is straight, not the side that is curved from the spine . So convex I think
How this help for someone who has scoliosis from birth? Aka all my body bones have different length on left&right side. It won't straight I know. I have 13degree thoracal. I tried doing this... But dunno yet the benefit
Can anyone confirm this actually works?
Has anyone had any measurable results from this? (Cobb of 63°)

do you have another good exercice for sciolosis?!
I haven ´ t a sciolosis but I have sciolosis position since I have 5 years old! it s nearly the same same thing! Same pain( low back, sacrum, knee, stiff left TFL, neck, shouder, ect ...) :))
+Sabrina Boukhemacha thats incredible . i will try to make a better video in the future . please try my other videos for your aches and pains
Hello guy:) thanks à lot to answer! Ok I Will do both!
Thanks for those exercices for sciatic but I use since 3 years to do That and I always stiff in my right bottom and low back and wick in my left leg:)
My chiro and ostéophate guy always told me to release my left thoracic spine And left side muscle of the waist first ! If not I Will always have I stiff right bottom and wick left legs!
Know I start to anderstand 2 years after :)) I never listen because and I work my bottom and legs :)
And after your exercice for sciolose , I fell good from all my body!!
Thanks!
+Sabrina Boukhemacha thank you . im glad this video has helped you
My scoliosis is an S curve type.Should I position my foam roller somewhere at the side of my oblique?
I also have an s curve, just means we gotta do both sides for the rib and lower back
This is not the Schroth method.
If my curve is similar to the person in the illustrated picture, should the foam roller be on my left side?
yes. at the apex of the curve always
@@iavor3231 okay thanks!
I have scoliosis and I don't like it. I really want a cure to get rid of it

Hi just to clarify, so if my right back is higher than my left, my right side will go on the foam roller right?
Yes
How long the time i doing that exercise?
Fitrah Narska like 3-4 mins I think
I'm sorry, but this has zero to do with Schroth (that's how it's spelled... not Scroth). In Schroth you avoid side flexion.
thanks chris
im confused if i have levoscoliosis(curved to the left) should i put the foam roller under my left or right side?
I’m pretty sure that would be the left side of you haven’t already figure that out lol. Basically the side of your body that is straight is the side you put it on, it could be diff for you but for me one side of my torso was straight and the other side was an hourglass shape.
under the left side - the “convex” side refers to the side the spine is curved towards, and concave is the hollow side
Would you know if you had scoliosis?
The side which is outer is were I should put the foam roller rght ?
Yes
I do not have a box, can I do that on the bed?

If you are consistent and also exercise to strengthen and stabilize your muscles, and making sure you keep an erect posture, yup! Worked for me!

Can I do this on a flat surface using a foam roller?
