I have mild scoliosis and a problem in my hip. I had really awful pain that persisted for two weeks in the muscles alongside my spine, my butt and down my leg no matter how much massage and streching I did. Then I tried these exercises and the pain was reduced immediately after. I've been doing them for a couple of days. The pain is gone now. Thank you so much!
Wow awesome. I have scoliosis from a head one car accident caused from 1 leg becoming 1 inch shorter. For 12 years I have had same symptoms. But getting my sole raised and custom made boot because my ankle was also shattered in over 30 pieces causing this incredible pain in the hip and the back sometimes down the side of my . So I look forward to trying these Exercises from reading your testimony. Thank you.
I am going to follow these exercise only because of u because i also have left hip pain and my left shoulder is up i also had a l4 l5 disc extrusion.btw how r u now
How do you strength your back without injury? I feeel it’s very difficult when your spine is not straight. What are the safe scoliosis exercises to do?
***NOTE!! Regardless of the side, shape, or level of your scoliosis, these scoliosis exercises should be done on both sides! They will naturally stretch and strengthen the side that needs it the most without having to think about it. (They'll stretch the muscles one side more because the muscles one side are always tighter. They will strengthen one side more (the outer part of the curve) because that side has more resistance due to the curve, so needs it more. And they will mobilise one side more because one side will always be more tight and restricted.) But you don’t have to know where the curves are, or even think about it. Just do them regularly, both sides, to get scoliosis pain relief and prevent long term issues from having a scoliosis. In most cases they will NOT straighten the spine, because in most cases the shape of the bones have changed permanently as they grew. ("Adolescent Idiopathtic Scoliosis") P.S. You might notice that I have a mild scoliosis--you can see my neck bends to one side slightly. So I do these exercises too! 💪

Thank you for enlightening my understanding of my condition. I have seen physios, osteotherapist, chiropractor and none of them explained to me and what I could do to alleviate my condition. Your video has changed my life in managing my scoliosis, can’t thank you enough.
Im76. As the years go by I’ve gotten shorten & it’s really hard to stand straight. My issues started at a very young age - less than a year old. My baby buggy fell down a steep flight of stairs. Feet turned under & start of back problems. Over the years I’ve had several other back injuries. Was 5.5 & now am 4.11. Chiro has helped some - therapy not much - & I refuse to let rods be put on my spine. Utube has recently had quite a few videos for scoliosis but yours seems to be one of the better ones and I’m going to be using 3 of the stretches . Thank you for posting them. One is similar to one of the therapy exercises I do but a more advanced way of doing it. Old bones need a lot of care.
Thanks for these exercises. One of my shoulders is higher than the other, and I have lower back pain when I stand for any length of time. These exercises made me feel better immediately and I've decided to do them every day.
Thanks very much! These are very helpful. A physio provided me with a few and I saw them in your video too. Since I was a teenager I have a very extended and extreme scoliosis. My mum already did too when she was young and spent time in a hospital in Germany. Please, this is just an advice, everybody who has an extended scoliosis be very very careful. I overworked my spine over a year ago and the ambulance had to come and bring me to A & E. The pains were excruciating and even morphine medication didn't totally help. I spent 3 weeks on the couch. These were muscle cramps, but even worse due to my scoliosis. Additionally I have a lordosis, so I am in pain every day, but it is manageable. However something happened again a few days ago 😥
I'm 71 YO, Male, now retired and a sufferer of a number of Spinal Conditions including Dextroscoliosis of 25 degrees (up from 22 degrees in the past 10+ years). I have had a few doctor opinions about the cause (Idiopathioc). In 1966, at 15 yo, I fractured my right Femur playing HS Football (not Soccer). It took over 4 months for the healing process which included being in a full Body Cast for 10 weeks after 6 weeks in traction in the hospital. When the cast came off, the doctor was "surprised" to find that my right leg was 1 inch Shorter(the femur was shorter). Other than measuring both my parents' legs (finding my mother was 1/4" short on the right), he left that Unaddressed. After about 15 years, the lower back pains and stiffness started affecting me. It's been downhill ever since. The Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD) is my Ground ZERO, despite one doctor opining otherwise?? Now, I have OA in my spinal vertebrae & Facet Joints; Stenosis at various sites in the spine, DDD throughout, C3-C7 disc bulges & stenosis, T9, T10, L2 L3 and L5-S1 disc buges (and Sponylioethisis ) and OA in both Hips and Knees. I never hit the 8-10 Pain Markers, but generally around 4-6 (It Varies), with constant Stiffness and chronic pains daily. I have seen 6 different Spinal and Neuro Surgeons since 2018 - all said NO Surgery on the Lumbar spine , far too much Arthritis. Acpuncture did very litle to help with the Pains, 6 different Chiros including Upper Cervical Chiropractic did little to help after many sessions. Many people fail to realize that Stenosis and Scoliosic curves affect the Nerves which in turn contributes to a high Misery Index. I will try these exercises, but the Stiffness in my spine limits me. FWW, I have ben taking many supplements to combat the Inflammation, spending lots of $$$$$ in that effort. I learned a few months ago from my Pain Management Doctor that my initial Cervical MRI done in 2012, revealed that I have a More Narrow Than Normal Spinal Canal. Common Sense to this Layman would indicate that would be a contributing factor to the heightened Misery and Anxiety.
Man, that's quite the list, Aldo. I feel for you. Sounds like you're best bet is gentle exercise, like the ones on this video, to mobilize the joints and loosen the muscles. Start really gently, just do the exercises that feel good. Maybe try my lower back exercise video and one or two others too. You might be surprised how much you can do for yourself. Good luck.
As a quick update. I have tried some of these stretches and exercises with little help. New Xrays taken reveal (and I already knew) that I have advanced Degnerative Disc Disease with end spurs on the vertebrae of the Lumbar Spine (officially measured as 19 degree Dextroscoliosis) with a 5 degree Thoracic curve to the left. The DDD is a real problem as the terrible stiffness curtails much movement. With L5-S1 spondylioethesis and SI Joint Chronically Inflammed (Sacrosacrilitis) make bendi ng and twisting agonizing. Do you recommend Heat /Ice treatments too?😊
Your videos are the most incredible ones I’ve seen in many many years. I wish all chiros would share these with patients at appointments. They are so helpful. Thank you 🙏
I have functional scoliosis. Have had it for the past 7 months. I tried 3 physiotherapists. I'm on my 3rd and they are helping me improve my posture and strengthen muscles around it but I still get back pain when I have to walk to school with a heavy bag. Or help my parents move houses with furniture. And it's very expensive. There's been improvement but very little. Im now 16 years and 3 months old. My scoliosis was a cause of 3 previous lower back injuries and muscle imbalances and weightlifting strain being my bulged disc, bruised tail bone and then generally sore lower back muscles from the nervous systems' trauma. ------ My question: at what age will my spine stop growing? I have a short torso by the way. Also I haven't tried doing the back brace to straighten my spine but everyone tells me because mine is functional it shouldn't be addressed with a brace. I wish I could figure this out without it costing so much money and time
Great to hear. Yes, the distorted shape of a scoliosis can cause a lot of spinal joint restriction, so when that's freed up by a chiro it can make a wonderful difference. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for those exercises and it's true they really do work. Strengthening your core muscles is so vital for overall improvement. Takes away breathing problems, walking issues, posture issues and my Cobb angle has not worsen and being consistent I'm hoping for even a reduction. I look forward to more of what you have to offer and Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for this inclusive, clear video. I have 3 lumbar disc hernias - which are 95% healed thank God) and because of the spine's attempt to heal I have the 3 types of scoliosis. These excercises are burning areas of error in a good way, and I can already feel the freedom in joint movement and less weight on the spine and hips. Thank you so much!
I do these exercises with my physical therapist. He is right on point. When I actually go 100% I have a significant amount of relief. 48 degree thoracic and 35 lumbar s curve with si joint dysfunction
Thankyou so much! This was especially inspirational because I have naturally gravitated to doing 3 of the exercises you mention throughout my life, because they feel so incredibly good to do. It's nice to know that our body has its wisdom of finding these things out for itself, if we can let it and when someone like you tells us they are medically or scientifically the best anyway, a little miracle happens in our brain that surely helps us heal even more [well it does in mine].
An advice for all before doing any sciolosis exercise i recommend doing core strengthning exercise (like plank) and you will have wonderful results but its important to remain pesistent. believe me and believe yourself☺.
I’ve had a hard time figuring out why I was having pain around my ribs so often. But after being scanned by a chiro, it makes sense. I have a minor S shape scoliosis, and notice that my back muscles are always tight. Whether my pain comes from the muscle or cartilage, im not sure, but it seems that every time my spine gets Re-aligned, I feel significant improvements.
If you get relief from chiropractic you must have some restricted joints in there. Spinal or costovertebral joints. So some of these mobilising exercises should help too
Hello, I have had scoliosis for some 60+ years. My gym teacher noticed it when I was around 15-16 years old but I never told my parents. We were living in a small village, no help around... I was reminded some 5-6 years ago when I was on holiday at a friend's place. I was coming out of the shower, saw myself in a large mirror, and noticed for the 1st time that my left side was more curved than my right one which was nearly straight, and my waist hardly marked! I have seen physiotherapists and chiropractors, but nothing much has changed. Now, my left ribs touch my hip. I do some yoga but can't do the exercises where I have to bend over my left side as it hurts. I am surprised to see that you do say to stretch both sides, regardless what side the curvature is on. I am going to try your exercises because they look interesting but... I'm not sure I'll do some of those on the left side. I am seeing an osteopath in a couple of weeks. Is there anything specific I could ask him? He will notice my scoliosis for sure! Thank you for your very interesting video.
As a PT and former trucker, I noticed in my older years I’m getting issues with my back. Another PT noticed I have a slight scoliosis caused by my posture from my days of trucking. I’m now trying to learn more about how I can help myself and others, including kyphosis and lordosis. Subbed to the channel, thanks for this video. Did the stretching along with you on the screen lol.. helped the tightness straight away! 👍
This is an extremely important and helpful video. It is helping me help my 13 year old grandson, who has just developed early scoliosis (he had a perfectly straight spine just a few months ago). My late mother had moderate scoliosis that was never treated. I know how important it is to address this and am immensely grateful for your expertise and lucid explanations!
Check the difference between his molar heights. Often times grinding or dental work or just genetics can cause the molars to vary in height and that can have downstream effects like causing scoliosis.
I'm finding that If you saturate the muscles, ligaments and related connective tissues with Solomon's seal tincture, it will hydrate, loosen and balance fluids where ever it's applied, conditioning area to respond to therapy.
Hello,I have lumbar scoliosis and I am 20 now.I got scoliosis when I was 11,but at that time I never knew about scoliosis and thought that it was just my bad posture, yesterday I visited the doctor and he told me that since I am an adult, surgery is the only treatment.I only have a small curve .Can these exercises help me to reduce my curve?Sir, please reply
Thanks so much I was just watching chiropractor he said you can’t stop it or help it with any exercises as no proof of any of it that helps but I don’t believe that for a second… you can’t just sit and accept your problems without finding a way to help it thanks for the exercises will try those…. Better than giving up ❤ you really do have to be careful what you watch on the internet for sure…😮
You can't straighten a scoliosis (in most cases) ... but "if you don't move it, you lose it". I think it's important to be proactive and move the spine through all the ranges of motion to stop it from stiffening up. And keep the muscles in good shape.
I can never remember which side my curves are! I have idiopathic scoliosis, s shape more pronounced in the thoracic area and also the neck. I have almost constant thoracic pain and a recent xray showed, damage, bony spurs etc T7-9. I'm going to try these exercises. Thanks so much.
Mine is Thoracic so it felt amazing doing each if the stretches, I'm gonna continue these for a few days and let you know how it's going for me. My degree is 43.3 and I have a 15° in my neck, ;_; I use to have a third one but it's gone now :) I'm 19 years old but I'm not sure if it progressed or not since I haven't been able to find anyone to do xrays for me that will accept the card I have. Mom keeps saying I'll be fine but they diagnosed me with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, even though she keeps saying no but how would I not remember something this important to me when it's not important to her? Honestly. Thanks for sharing this video.❤
I’m so grateful to have found your channel. I have learnt so much from your videos, easy to understand the underlying reasons, simple exercises to follow! Look forward to your upcoming videos!! :)
Yeah finally I find you sir ..❤ I really have a shoulder blade winging from its lower apex and I always felt it happened because of thoracic scoliosis as I used to carry a heavy bag on my right shoulder No one believe me Please tell me what should I do now,,,,fixing scoliosis first? Then the winging will disappear automatically?? Or what Thank you so much
Most cases of scoliosis cannot be straightened because the shape of the bones has changed. (These are the cases where the curve started in the early teenage years) But some can, so give these exercises a go. Either way your spine will be healthier. I would definitely do exercises that strengthen your Lower Trapezius & Serratus Anterior... so do these exercises too: ua-cam.com/video/9JN6dTBAyIU/v-deo.html
I’m always looking for stretches and exercises on the internet that help scoliosis. I have AIS since 13, left lumbar curve, or Levoscoliosis. Here in the UK there are not many professionals with much knowledge of scoliosis. These exercises are brilliant for keeping the back supple and flexible, which of course reduces pain. Interestingly, I notice Usain Bolt has scoliosis too- lumbar and thoracic in an S shaped. He is the fastest man in the world and works hard on building up his back muscles so you can hardly tell he suffers from it. I wonder, I have started using the gym now at age 42, as I have looser stomach muscles from having children. Is it possible do you think to build up the concave muscles to reduce the rib hump and support the spine better? It’s only recently my rib cage has started irritating me on the left side, it feels like something digging in sometimes, I wonder if it’s because my stomach muscles are not very strong? Thank You for the videos, I’m so happy I found this channel to use!
The Schroth technique aims at reducing the curve and rib hump. You might have some luck with that, but it's more likely to help in teenagers, it's a lot of work, and I'm not convinced it can do much. The issue is that with AIS the bones change shape as you grow in the teenage years. Now that the bones have matured and formed their final shape (at 18 years old or so) you can't alter their shape. The rib cage pain could be rib restriction, muscle tightness, or arthritic joint degeneration. The exercises on this video are the best I know to help with the first two. But do them on both sides. I don't really think working the abs will make much of a difference to your rib irritation. This video may help too. ua-cam.com/video/T8vKCXP7OSc/v-deo.html Good luck!
I have been wearing corset for a month now and i think it got better but idk i haven't go to the doctor because it was sooooo expensive, i am 12 years old and i am scared my scoliosis would be there forever i have been getting pain when i walk or sit for to long and this helps thanks
Oh so nice I think that i will definitely benefit from this. I have all of it including the winging of the scapular. Plus I lost use of my left arm in an accident when I was 20. I am now 60. It's a challenge.
love this! im starting my fitness journey again and i was scared im doing exercises that would make my scoliosis work but some of the exercises that you showed are the ones ive been doing! makes me feel better for real
I found your job the most relevant and well-presented, thank you for that. I have mild Scoliosis between my shoulders, so my right shoulder is a little lower, and my right collarbone has more gap compared to the left side at the Sternoclavicular Joint (clicks with particular movements). I was wondering if the collarbone issue as I described is a common symptom in such a condition or not?
Differences in the SC joint is not something that is related to scoliosis. Or at least I've never noticed that, or read about it in relationship to Scoliosis
Wow!! Watching this video made me realize that scoliosis is what I've been dealing with *mind-blown* thank you so much!! 2 quick questions for you: 1) Should I get x-rays at mychiro just to confirm and/or know what is structurally going on?? 2) May I continue to lift weights, so long as I do these exercises daily? Or, should I take a break or de-load and give it a month or two and let these exercises do there work uninhibited by load before returning to lifting weights?? Again, thank you so very much, cheers!! -Ryan
Xrays...it depends on the severity. If it's only a mild scoliosis, don't bother. Ask yourself this: will the results of the x-ray change what you do? In most cases, no. But ultimately, I can't answer the x-ray question for your specific case without examining you. I x-ray very few cases of scoliosis. Usually only if it seems pretty bad and the patient is young enough that we can still influence it's progression with things like bracing in severe cases. Don't stop exercising unless you're getting pain. Cheers Stefan
@@BodyFixExercises thanks, Stefan!! Will do and another quick question for you- should I do these exercises before a workout or later in the day by themselves for optimum effect??
Thabj you do much, im from germany and i did watch alot of videos from German practics, but your did very well for my back pain. I have a bad bad scoliosis today, right at that time when i was working and couldnt move normaly.
Glad they helped, Serdalito. They can give some nice back pain relief the same day that you do them. However, if you do then regularly I think the long term benefits will help even more. Cheers, Stefan
Hey Dr. I am 13 years old(almost 14 Turning 14 on the 01.02 )and have skoliosis on the lower side at the left from my side. Now my mom said I should start right now because when puberty ends it’ll be harder to fix it. But I have got some questions: Are these really the best things you can do to improve quickly or are there other sports or some little things to improve faster like a specific sleep position or sitting position? I am going to school every day and sit because of that most of the time on my chair and listen to my teacher. Should I change my position often? And should i do some small exercises in school or is it okay to wait until I am home? (I get home at 14:30) Also how long do I have to make these exercises to see some improvement or ever get it away forever?(just to set a goal for myself). THANKS FOR READING MY QUESTIONS and I am glad i found your channel you are literally changing my whole life. -Viktor
Hey Viktor! Good on you for being proactive! Awesome questions. Mum's right. Now is the best time to start doing scoliosis exercises--before your bones fully mature. Try to keep active. Sports is good for you. Some people think lying face up is the best position to sleep in (but I think it's good to vary your sleeping positions too). You can change position if you do a lot of sitting, but don't be too worried about that. Just try to sit nice a straight, not too slumped. It's ok to wait until you get home to do your exercises, but try to do one lot of these exercises daily, when you can. If you are looking for extra things you could do, you could check out some videos on the "Scroth technique for scoliosis" and maybe go and see someone who specialises in that. (I'm going to try to do a video on that sometime soon.) Everyone is different, and there are different forms of scoliosis, so it's hard to predict how your spine will respond to exercises. The best idea is to see someone who specialises in spinal care and scoliosis so they can give you specific advice for your case. A scoliosis needs to be regularly checked before you fully mature to make sure it's not beginning to curve more. Most people (but not all!) with a scoliosis will always have a curve in their spine, so I always recommend to think of these exercises like brushing your teeth. (We do that twice a day for our whole life to take good care of our teeth, so why not do daily exercises for your spine to keep it healthy?) Stacks of people have a scoliosis (and other people hardly even notice that they have a spine that curves a bit), but with a good little daily exercise routine you can help keep your spine flexible and strong. Thanks for your message and questions!
Sir can these exercise fix my uneven shoulder, flared ribs which cause due to scoliosis What are benefits of doing this exercise? Sir I am very scared and this problem(scoliosis) depress me lot Hence,I ask you these question.
Saya berusia 30 tahun, terkena skoliosis sejak kecil. Tulang rusuk belakang sebelah kanan saya semakin menonjol hingga 50°. Apakah bisa normal tanpa operasi ? Terapi apa yang bisa membantu saya agar tulangnya tidak semakin melengkung dan rasa pegalnya hilang ? Mohon jawabannya
Thank you so much for your videos. Here’s hoping you will show modifications for the exercises on knees. I had two replaced knees,so this would be helpful. I’m 77.
Thanks for the exercises. I haven't found a patent recipe. From the picture of the scoliosis you can see that, in addition to lateral exercises, the upper body has to be stretched, i.e. lengthened. In most cases, the scoliosis is associated with a rotation, which cannot be seen in the picture. It is difficult to know how to reverse this twist.🤠
@@BodyFixExercises With rotation, you could also aggravate the rotation if you get it wrong. I turn the upper body so that the pain in the vertebral joints decreases.
Sir! I am 15 years old and I have 40 degree scoliosis S curve. My left shoulder bit higher than right. So I can do this exercises to correct it? Suggest me some best exercises to correct unbalanced shoulders? Plz tell me!
Thank you so much for your videos. I have S curve starting with kyphosis, 66 ° at thoracic spine, lesser at lumbar spine. Curve goes to right if looking at back. After auto accident 2020, pain has become unbearable. In 2011 curve was about 30°. A high impact accident tboned on left by truck going 65 mph - we were traveling 25 mph.(I was passenger, in US on right)- my husband was unconscious and jaws of life used to free him. Dog killed. We both spent two weeks at Trauma Units (I, Ortho, husband, Head injury) and 1 week rehab. Do you think such an impact(car was eviserated and traveled 3 city blocks)could have advanced the curve? I broke many ribs and right shoulder but now almost 2023 and it is the scolosis curve that is causing such pain (apex and radiates from...) It's complicated as I am in my 60's with osteoporosis. I was experiencing pain with PT (recently) so stopped. I walk every day 40 minutes briskly (hurts but afraid of atrophy). Do not smoke, drink, always exercised eat well. Your exercises look easy to do and could help with pain? What do you as a chiropractor think of ASMI? It seems to good to be true and could be dangerous for those with osteoporosis? Osteopath, Ortho doc never heard of and naturally sceptical. I have gotten zero from Ortho not even empathy and Osteopath is trying to help.I will be grateful for any advice or insight. I hope I can somehow return the favor.
There is a good reason to hope that your scoliosis can improve in your case. Here's why... Our bones mature and form their final shape by about 18y/o. The curve at this age is due to a change in the shape of the bones as you grow. Any treatment that claims it can change the shape of your bones is to be treated with suspicion. In your case this would be your original curve of 30°. But now its 66°. The extra 36° is unlikely to be from a change in the shape of the bone. So, in theory that part can be corrected.
So, you are an exception. Something has increased the curve by 36° that isn't related to the shape of your bones as they matured. I'd say that it's likely to be muscle contraction or dysfunctional nerve impulses which control those muscles. That accident is probably why. So, I think it's worth trying gentle manipulation, acupuncture, ASMI, and the Schroth Method (look it up).
I honestly don't know much about ASMI. I wouldn't expect it to help a normal Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis case, but only half your curve is from Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The first thing you should do is get an x-ray, if you haven't already, and see if the extra curve is due to some vertebrae having collapsed (broken) during the accident. This could change the shape of the bones and result in the extra curve. (In which case I don't think you could reduce the curve, but some form of treatment could still give you pain relief)
I was at a recent conference where I learnt of a horrible test that had been conducted on rats for an experiment. They somehow reduced the amount of movement detectors (proprioceptors) in the spinal muscles of rats, and the rats ended up with severe scoliosis. So, anything that could increase the stimulation of movement receptors could, in theory, help with a case like yours. Gentle manipulation, acupuncture, ASMI and the Schroth Method could, in theory, help your case. I hope this helps, and gives you some hope that you can find some relief. Cheers, Stefan
Do these exercises heal scoliosis completely, on the long term or just temporary pain relief? And how long should we do them? Wish I could know pls. Thank u.
Thank you so much Dr for the exercises, I have right side scoliosis spine ..and now I m suffering from severe pain on right back side for my own fault , I have lifted heavy thing ..plz suggest which excercise I can do right now and what will be the restrictions for this present condition?
I'd have to examine your back to give specific advice Sujata. But if it is severe I would recommend starting by icing it to reduce the inflammation. (See my video on using heat and ice). If it is in the lower back, (not the mid back) use the exercises in my "lower back pain" video, especially the cat-cow if you can do it without pain. My next few videos will be on lower back pain so I will be releasing some great new exercises for back pain soon.
Thanks a lot Doc for your response, actually my pain is exactly where the curve is.. means at the right side middle ..here means in youtube I can not show u my MRI report .. if u could see the images u could understand my condition right now
Just found you! I do a couple of these but knee rolls with feet on the ground so will try your version. I had a compressed wedge fracture at T8 then developed scoliosis shortly after 12 yrs ago. Now I'm 68 and now have S curve and hump ( grrr) I'm twisted and hope I can stop it getting worse. thanks
I am always lazy to go for the treatment though I'm not happy but because of the pain i felt when they massage it I'm always scared to go there.... But I'm looking forward to ur exercise Because i have the C scoliosis and i am happy it can be treated
Thanks Dear your videos are great! Much respect for you! How do I know if someone has 3 curve scoliosis or any other type of scoliosis please?! The causes? My daughter told me she have uneven hips and shoulders and we are not so sure about her neck but still got us suspicious On top of that she have pain on her upper shoulder around the rhomboid muscle on the left side with scapilar winging and hip pain around her glutius medius muscle on her right side as well, so what type of scoliosis is this please?!
Sounds like it curves to the left in the upper back, and to the right in the lower back. A professional can do an Adam's Test (forward bending test for scoliosis) to get a good idea where and how much the spine is curving. But an x-ray is the only definitive way to know for sure. If she is under 18y/o, especially much younger, you need to keep an eye on it because it can worsen during the teenage years.
Hi very informative video i like how the video is not overwhelming with some videos there are to many excersises. Do you think its safe to bend forward and touch the floor with my hands i also turn my body to the left and right and hold for 20 seconds do you think i should avoid these excersise thanks.
Hello doctor. I have s shaped curve. I am 40 years and my doctor advised me for a surgery. But he assured only 50% curve correction any spine is very stiff due to age. Does this exercise help to reduce the stiffness of the spine and give me more results after surgery? Looking forward for ur reply thank you
It depends on the surgery they do. In many cases they FUSE the spine. If they do that, these exercises will not help because the spine cannot move any more. Make sure you get a second opinion before doing any surgery. Try the exercises. If you can do them comfortably maybe they can help.
The cat is hilarious 😂 What do you think of the Schroth method for treating scoliosis? I developed scoliosis in childhood and I'm now 51. My upper back would always get tight due to the curvature, but after 40, I started hurting in my lower back too, especially when sitting for too long. I think it's coming from the SI joint because it hurts down in that area.
Schroth is probably the best bet to minimize the scoliosis when you are still growing (and bracing). But After your mid 20's the growth plates in the vertebrae are well are and truly closed, so the shapes of the vertebrae are fixed and can't be changed. Schroth might help a bit but it won't change the shape. At 51 I'd be focusing on mobilising the joints with things like these exercises, to stop the joints from seizing up too much. But keep in mind that what's happening in your low back now may have very little to do with the scoliosis. (For example, today in practise someone came in with a bad low back but her scoliosis was in her thoracic spine and the two were relatively unrelated.) Try some of my lower back exercises. Actually I'll be updating them in the next couple of months. Good luck!
Hi. My 3-year-old son has a scoliosis with Thoracic hemivertebra defects no12. How old can he start to do this exercise? And this exercise can help to get rid of scoliosis completely (or how much can improve)? Please give me advice. Thanks you so much and wish all luck & health to you.
I have scoliosis, very painful hip and my back! I do yoga, pilates cycling and i start weights ,my question is do I have anything to avoid just because the scoliosis? Thank you!
Most people can do anything. If you've got a very painful hip and back, you may have more inflammation or degeneration than normal, so just go easy the first time and see how your body responds
I'm 20 years old and i have a middle spine scoliosis that causes uneven shoulders and general enevenness, should these exercises help get my spine back in place? And how many times a day should I do it?
Thank you so much!! May I ask you a question? I have a double curve scoliosis with lumbar left convex curve and upper right convex curve. Is my left leg overcharged compared to the right one. Because I have groin pain in my left side, my calf is always contracted and I have poor dorsiflexion in my left ankle. While in my right leg everything is perfect, except for my pronation in my foot. Could you confirm that my left leg is overcharged? Thank you!!
Yup, hips uneven, shoulders uneven, winged scapula. Not very tight or painful ever since starting the gym, but slightly limited in weightlifting mobility. Just that bench press, face pulls and weighted crunches make it feel like someone stabbed through the lower ribs/stomach/shoulder blade. Or perhaps pulled the chest. I guess it means things want to return to where they belong.
It's unlikely any exercises will straighten a scoliosis. Because in most cases that shape of the bones have changed. There are some exceptions, but not many. These exercises are aimed at mobilising the joints, stretching, and strengthening to minimise the impact of a Scoliosis on your health.
I had dorso-lumbar scoliosis since I was a child and I also wore a corset for a few years in my teens. Until recently my most prominent problem was a perpetually tight muscle near my left shoulder blade which often causes tingling in my hand and pain between my neck and shoulders, but over the past few years I have developed a much more annoying problem. It started with numbness in my lower back, which when it goes away leaves me with a not too strong but very annoying pain that often affects my left buttock and leg. Also I can walk for long distances without problems but standing still is often agonizing as my legs go numb and heavy and my lower back becomes heavy and sometimes slightly sore. According to my doctor I probably have sciatica from misaligned hips due to scoliosis, but I haven't had any tests yet to rule out a hernia or anything else. The exercises you showed were taught to me in the hospital years ago but since I have lower back and leg problems I'm a bit afraid to do them because I'm afraid they might worsen my condition, what do you recommend?
Numbness and heaviness are signs of nerve compression so I think the first thing that you should be doing is getting a MRI to check for spinal stenosis and disc protrusions. Numbness is not something to be taken lightly
People, scoliosis can be fixed. Maybe not when the curve is really bad, but there’s a man he manipulates the bone. I’ve chatted with him and he’s showed me how he’s done it. There’s people with curves and I’m not sure what he does but with his hands their spine gets less curved and becomes straighter.
Hi Dr, thank you for sharing these exercises with your experience. I'm in my mid-30s and I was told during a routine body check that I have Scoliosis on my upper thoracic spine, mild-to-moderate (Chest X-ray shows my spine has a "C" shape). I'm not sure if these are the right exercises for me and whether any variations are helpful to correct this left? scoliosis? Thank you.
Hey Charlie. These exercises would be great for your type of scoliosis. Concentrate on the thoracic exercises more. Most scoliosis you cannot correct the shape though.
Everyone can do these scoliosis exercises on both sides. 👍

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
I am going to follow these exercise only because of u because i also have left hip pain and my left shoulder is up i also had a l4 l5 disc extrusion.btw how r u now
Can you tell which exercise you tried from this video i have the same problem
("Adolescent Idiopathtic Scoliosis")
P.S. You might notice that I have a mild scoliosis--you can see my neck bends to one side slightly. So I do these exercises too! 💪

I have same problem. can we talk?
@@santorinopow5814 sure we can talk. Have you been at a rheuma-doctor and an xray of your spine taken? You need proper diagnosis in the first place.
That's for sharing, Linda. Sounds like you need to be proactive. Good on you for looking after your spine
Literally 2 days and the pain is gone. You are a gift for humanity, I'm really thankful
Wonderful! So glad to hear it! 🙌 Messages like yours make it all worthwhile. 👍🙏
Can you explain me how much your curve digree ??
Thanks for these exercises. One of my shoulders is higher than the other, and I have lower back pain when I stand for any length of time. These exercises made me feel better immediately and I've decided to do them every day.
Sounds great!
Have your shoulders become normal now? I'm having similar prob
Hey are you doing any better?
Do you recommend Heat /Ice treatments too?😊
Try body stress release it’s amazing
Your videos are the most incredible ones I’ve seen in many many years. I wish all chiros would share these with patients at appointments. They are so helpful. Thank you 🙏
Thanks, STM! That's really nice of you!
I wish I could figure this out without it costing so much money and time
I am going to chiropractor !!! The most amazing DR in west palm beach I feel so much better it’s amazing what a difference!!!!!
Great to hear. Yes, the distorted shape of a scoliosis can cause a lot of spinal joint restriction, so when that's freed up by a chiro it can make a wonderful difference. Thanks for sharing!
@@BodyFixExercises does this adjustment of chiro remain permanent or again it becomes restricted?
Thank you for those exercises and it's true they really do work. Strengthening your core muscles is so vital for overall improvement. Takes away breathing problems, walking issues, posture issues and my Cobb angle has not worsen and being consistent I'm hoping for even a reduction. I look forward to more of what you have to offer and Happy New Year!
Thanks DD. Good on you for being proactive with your scoliosis. 👍

Very well done. Many years ago my doctor gave me these exercises, some of which I forget to do until I saw your video.
Glad it was helpful!
Good on you!
Thank you. I already do some of these and look forward to adding these additional ones.
Great!
I do these exercises with my physical therapist. He is right on point. When I actually go 100% I have a significant amount of relief. 48 degree thoracic and 35 lumbar s curve with si joint dysfunction
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Hi. How do you find this info out about the degrees etc? Please any info?

@@BMCLegacy hi Danielle. Who can I go to see who can take proper measurements of my spine? Thank you!

Yes, the body often knows what it needs. Good on you for listening carefully to it
Me too!!
An advice for all before doing any sciolosis exercise i recommend doing core strengthning exercise (like plank) and you will have wonderful results but its important to remain pesistent. believe me and believe yourself☺.
Thanks for sharing, Mohammad.
Just trying to help a soul😃

Rule no 1 is don't do the exercises if they hurt. So listen to your body and don't do it both sides if it feels sore, or doesn't feel right
As a PT and former trucker, I noticed in my older years I’m getting issues with my back.
👍 Just get a professional to measure any progress of the scoliosis too
Check the difference between his molar heights.
One of the best set of excersies ive found that immediately help with my right sides scoliosis disk hip pain! Thank You!!!!😊
Great to hear!
Most cases of scoliosis cannot be straightened because the shape of the bones has changed. (These are the cases where the curve started in the early teenage years) But some can, so give these exercises a go. Either way your spine will be healthier.
I would definitely do exercises that strengthen your Lower Trapezius & Serratus Anterior... so do these exercises too: ua-cam.com/video/9JN6dTBAyIU/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for these simple exercises, a total lifesaver!
Glad you like them!
This video may help too. ua-cam.com/video/T8vKCXP7OSc/v-deo.html
Good luck!

I found your job the most relevant and well-presented, thank you for that.

Cheers
Stefan

(I'm going to try to do a video on that sometime soon.)
Everyone is different, and there are different forms of scoliosis, so it's hard to predict how your spine will respond to exercises.

Thank you.. I will try your exercises.
A pleasure. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you so very much for this help. I'm confident that this set of exercises would effectively do the Job.
You're so welcome!
Excellent video & information 👍
Thanks! 👍
Very simply very fast thanks
Welcome 😊
Thank you for these exercises.
No worries!
There's always lateral and rotation involved. You can't straighten them usually though
@@BodyFixExercises With rotation, you could also aggravate the rotation if you get it wrong. I turn the upper body so that the pain in the vertebral joints decreases.
Good advice and exercises.
Cheers

Thank u.
No, they help to keep a scoliosis healthy. Exercises can't straighten a scoliosis in most cases
Thanks a lot Doc for your response, actually my pain is exactly where the curve is.. means at the right side middle ..here means in youtube I can not show u my MRI report .. if u could see the images u could understand my condition right now
Hey I have that too and it really hurts what have you been doing to improve it and stop the pain?
Just found you! I do a couple of these but knee rolls with feet on the ground so will try your version. I had a compressed wedge fracture at T8 then developed scoliosis shortly after 12 yrs ago. Now I'm 68 and now have S curve and hump ( grrr) I'm twisted and hope I can stop it getting worse. thanks
Sounds like you need to do gentle but regular mobilising exercises for your spine to keep it from stiffening up. Start gently though!
This is a wonderful video! Thank you!
I am always lazy to go for the treatment though I'm not happy but because of the pain i felt when they massage it I'm always scared to go there.... But I'm looking forward to ur exercise
Because i have the C scoliosis and i am happy it can be treated
These exercises can improve the health of a spine with scoliosis and reduce pain. But they can't straighten a spine
Thanks for exercises!
You're so welcome!
What exersice would you recommend for those whose left shoulder is a bit higher than the right one?
Thank you for sharing! I will start doing these exercises. I really hope that my back pain will gradually go away, as I have S scoliosis 🙏🏻
Best of luck!
Thanks Dear your videos are great! Much respect for you!
How do I know if someone has 3 curve scoliosis or any other type of scoliosis please?! The causes?
My daughter told me she have uneven hips and shoulders and we are not so sure about her neck but still got us suspicious
On top of that she have pain on her upper shoulder around the rhomboid muscle on the left side with scapilar winging and hip pain around her glutius medius muscle on her right side as well, so what type of scoliosis is this please?!
The cause is unknown in most cases ("Idiopathic scoliosis" use the most common scoliosis and idiopathic means ... of unknown origen)
Hi very informative video i like how the video is not overwhelming with some videos there are to many excersises. Do you think its safe to bend forward and touch the floor with my hands i also turn my body to the left and right and hold for 20 seconds do you think i should avoid these excersise thanks.
Thanks for the valuable information.🙏
My pleasure!
Thank you.I will try all of this maybe my posture may improved
Good luck
(For example, today in practise someone came in with a bad low back but her scoliosis was in her thoracic spine and the two were relatively unrelated.)
Try some of my lower back exercises. Actually I'll be updating them in the next couple of months. Good luck!

Wonderful! Glad to help
Hi. My 3-year-old son has a scoliosis with Thoracic hemivertebra defects no12. How old can he start to do this exercise? And this exercise can help to get rid of scoliosis completely (or how much can improve)? Please give me advice. Thanks you so much and wish all luck & health to you.
A lot of yr exercises look like yoga, so thinking yoga can help? Thank you for your video 👍🏼
Yes, yoga is good for people with a scoliosis.
Do them once a day. But, as I explained in the video, they will not normally straighten the spine
Thank you!!
Thanks for the information
My pleasure
Yup, hips uneven, shoulders uneven, winged scapula. Not very tight or painful ever since starting the gym, but slightly limited in weightlifting mobility. Just that bench press, face pulls and weighted crunches make it feel like someone stabbed through the lower ribs/stomach/shoulder blade. Or perhaps pulled the chest. I guess it means things want to return to where they belong.
The sliding joints in the spine get distorted by scoliosis so perhaps that's what you feel
hi doc, if done enough, will these exercises fix my scoliosis or just prevent it from worsening? i really wish to revert it if its possible
Thank you for these helpful exercises!
You're so welcome!
thank you again for another great video!
You're very welcome, United!
Fantastic, let's get on with it... because otherwise I'm at risk of lumbar disc surgery...
Thank you I will try this exercise……..
You're welcome Angelo
People, scoliosis can be fixed. Maybe not when the curve is really bad, but there’s a man he manipulates the bone. I’ve chatted with him and he’s showed me how he’s done it. There’s people with curves and I’m not sure what he does but with his hands their spine gets less curved and becomes straighter.
Thank you for the video. I would like to ask if at exercise 3 do you keep your belly muscle is inside? Thank you.
I have same condition like you , I think , I can do these exercises too
Have you seen results with any exercises?
Hello Sir, i have mild scoliosis in lumbar spine and it is painful when i bend forward. Can i get normal with exercise and medicines?
I am today new to your channel, and after this video, I am a new subscriber!
Thanks for subbing!
Thanks for helping

Can these routines be applied to pedia? for my 9 yrs old daughter with scoliosis
Yes, but don't rely on these exercises to limit curve progression. If the curve is progressing you need to see a doctor.
Thanks a lot😊
