Thanks for the review. I live in Eastern Europe and I got this knife 3 years ago for about $100. It currently costs around $150 in my country + delivery. I love this knife. I sold my older knife and just comitted to this one full-tang knife for camping, bushcraft and firemaking. I have some EDC pocket knives and a Mora Companion but this is the knife I have used 99% of the time. I've read so many online reviews where they say it's not really a good knife, granted, I have not had a $300+ knife and can't compare. However, the Strongarm does not break however much you beat it. It batons through wood like a champion. It feathersticks perfectly and cuts saplings like crazy. It's perfect for practicing combat and probably a good defense tool as well. (Never used it in combat obviously.) Overall I am really happy with the knife as it's my prized leader in my small collection.
Loved the way you reviewed this. Could feal the love and respect you have for it, hard to get that feeling across in a video. Great work. I love mine. It's always with me in my bag and in the field. I've done everything with it without worry, even dug holes that I would never do with a more expensive knive. Edge easily comes right back.
I was one of those who scoffed at the strongarm until I watched a video by JOEX, an Austrian reviewer who literally beats a knife to its death. I was amazed at how much it took to break it to the extent that I ordered one immediately to replace a more expensive knife in my bug out bag. I am now a firm believer and would recommend it hands down!
Well said! I think I saw his and a few other torture tests as well. I have ruined a lot of knives throwing them but never this one. I love this one for all purposes as well.
@@mbuser781 I can only imagine his channel budget haha. I will usually buy a knife if I intend on using it and I will just test it to the degree I would normally use it but I love the service he is offering for sure
420 HC is no slouch, when done by Buck or Gerber. Another testament to the fact that the heat treatment is generally more important than the steel choice.
I bought this knife several years ago after watching the Gauntlet reviews. It is a strong and impressive blade. One of my favorites. I didn’t care so much for the sheath, so I found a kydex.
Very welcome my friend. You’ll really like having this knife. It’s a breath of fresh air and take whatever is thrown at it. It’s definitely built to work
Having used this exact knife before in prolonged camping situation I can say it definitely lives up to its name . Good strong carbon steel blade, nice comfortable handle what fills the hand nice. Great video as usual my freind 🙂
I've had my strongarm on my belt for almost 4 years and its beat up but it's a good beater knife it can handle just about any task without worry of damaging it. mines been used for digging, chopping, cooking, opening packages, and as a can opener and it's still in great condition just scratched up a bit.
411, Great update on this knife. I have exact same one in Coyote color and I am of same opinion, great knife. I really like the fact that Gerber put a lot of thought into the designs of this knife, including that awesome sheath. I wish more knife makers would put more thought into knife sheaths. This knife gives you options to do many things with it. Enough said. ;-)
I just picked one up at TSC, Tractor Supply Company, for $44.99. Also, a Cold Steel 4-Max Scout for $24.99. Like I need 2 more knives, but I couldn’t pass it up. 😁

@@411Outdoors absolutely I've used mine quite a bit since getting it so long ago and it is still just as tough as it was when I bought it. It stays on my plate carrier
I paid $70 for mine. Worth every penny. I will rate a knife by wether or not I would be okay with it as my only knife in a survival situation. The Strongarm passes that test. You can rely on it when it really matters.
The Strongarm is like 115-130 euros (about same in dollars) here in Finland, so it's way too expensive for what it is, it's a bit out of place here, because we a lot of puukkos and leukus that are non tactical knives. I'm quite sure that you would like a leuku knife if you liked the puukko you got (I just can't remember that did you like it or not.) Leuku is just kind of a large puukko made for cracking reindeer bones and chopping wood. Some of the a have quite large blades, about 20-25 cm or 8-9½ inch long, and some are smaller, about 14,5-16 cm or 5-6 inches. The Strongarm and the SRK for example are considered sort of a military knives here, and typical outdoor knives here have a wood/reindeer antler handle and usually scandi grind blade. Edit: I forgot to say it, but the Strongarm looks like a great knife, and you made an amazing video
I’ve had two of these knives and it’s one of my favorite all around knives. First one I gave to a friend after he tried it and didn’t want to stop using it so it gave me a good excuse to buy a new one. Most 420hc blade tend to be a bit soft but this one holds an edge very well. If I had to find a gripe it would be that the bevel grinds can be a bit off, especially in the tip radius area but yo don’t really notice it until you sharpen it and see the uneven edge show up. It’s a small difference of a mm or less but annoying enough to me that I will refine mine to even them up. When you eventually wear off the coating doing a polish on the bevels and the false edge while leaving the sides black gives it a wicked look or you can use gun blue for a nice two tone finish.
Keep an eye out. I snagged one for $67 a couple weeks ago from sportsmans warehouse. I also love the handle. And the square spine is the sharpest I own - throws nasty sparks off a 6" ferro rod!
@@411Outdoors ... the sheath is on the Cheap side though. Folded canvas. It Rattles in sheath if you shake it. No retention at all. Gotta use the handle snap. Vertical belt carry only. Knife itself is great. I might try to find a custom sheath for mine at some point. Leather or kydex.
I had a strong arm, gave it away to a friend. Bought another one a few months later...but no longer care for them. Good knife for sure, but now all of a sudden the "window" breaker on the handle is irritating, the grip too small. I ordered a Cold Steel SRK and LOVE it. It is a replacement for the Strong Arm. I got the full size, but I would not turn down a Strong Arm if gifted or all that was available.
