Out of all thanksgiving pies, which one is your favorite? I gotta say that pumpkin pie is mine. I always need to go grab a slice whenever I see one! Haha. I’ve been using Sally’s Baking Addiction’s recipe for a while now! The cracks of pepper add such a nice subtle depth of flavor. The only thing though is that I always have leftover batter. But that’s ok because I just make mini pumpkin pies in a muffin tin! :D

Makes TWO pies
Ingredients:
500 grams brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn starch
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/8 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
6 large eggs
2 15 ounce cans pumpkin puree
480 milliliters heavy cream
120 milliliters milk

Pumpkin is my favorite pie, and you inspired to me to try out this recipe. I like the texture and spice mixture, but I think I prefer white sugar. My wife appreciated that I blind-baked the crust, since she likes crispy foods, but I actually prefer a tender crust that melts into the filling a little on the bottom. Made it again with those changes yesterday, since my church was having a Thanksgiving pie potluck.
All the pies! But pumpkin pie is the seasonally appropriate one for turkey day.

Although pumpkin pies are my favorite pies thus far, I’m starting to really enjoy sweet potato pies! They’re pretty similar in structure I think, I love that super smooth texture they both have!

My favorite pie is rhubarb pie! I've never had pumpkin pie because we don't have pureed pumpkin in cans in Sweden, so I've always been too lazy to make it myself since I'd have to make the pumpkin puree as well 😅
Haha yeah making your own pumpkin puree would definitely be another tedious step! 😅
But I love rhubarb pie! It has such a great tart taste.
When I lived in Göteborg, there were two places that carried it: the big ICA near Liseberg had a little American section with pie fillings, but they sold out of pumpkin in November. And the English Shop carries American goods as well as British ones, so they were a reliable source. I made a Thanksgiving pumpkin pie once for my grad school friends there.

Every Thanksgiving, I make my special once-a-year butterscotch cinnamon pie by feast of fiction. It's a bit of a doozy, but always worth it in the end. Thanks for sharing the pumpkin pie recipe too! :)
