And just like that, Sony announces the RX100 VII. Looks like they weren't too busy. I still stand by what I said, the RX100 VI is a good camera and even better now that the price will drop.

Just bought it for US$800. So much convenience in such a little package.

Ive had this camera for some time now; initially for travel (work) and thanks to your videos I managed to set it up and was great. Now i’m interested in video, but no input jack for ext mic!! Internal audio very bad for wind noise. Some people mention a ‘fur’ sticking onto top of camera over mic??? do you know where this can be purchased? Also, external mic systems ....but then need sync in post process.... I’ve carried out today a quick process using iMovie on ipad & macbook pro.... is there an easy way to sync external sound from external mic in process ......
As a camera for travel and space/weight is an issue = its very good and produces really great quality images... yep leather grip is a must

@@jamesss1953 I would capture audio externally and then sync it up in post. There isn't much you can do with the camera even with some fluff attached.

@@ditchauto thanks for this (which I've guessed already). I bought it for travel (which I did a lot of and it 'was' for photography I bought it for; video is a new event for me..... thank you very much for your reply

I never have a problem with bright scenes but my mark V with the ND allows me to knock down the exposure and widen the aperture for out of focus background. So I'm thinking I'll keep the mark V. Also, the W/Tele is kind of the range I like. Great report so thanks!

I have had the RX100 VA (24-70 equiv. lens @ 1.8-2.8)version for almost 2 years now and have found it to be a really nice travel camera, especially when needing to keep weight and bulk to a minimum as well as not being such an obvious "tourist with a camera" in other countries. The faster f stop I wanted due to frequent visits to famous building interiors (cathedrals, churches, museums) where that's an advantage. One accessory I did purchase which I've found useful is the Sony-branded leather (?) case with removable lens cover and strap to protect the camera in transit and in bags while retaining the ability to immediately access it when walking around (just remove the lens cover protector) and having it hang by its neck strap. This also allows the camera to remain pretty much hidden from prying eyes until you want to use it if you are wearing a light jacket. With the neck strap, you can let go of the camera and it will not drop to the ground...another good point! Great photos and reasonable video as well. I should add, purchasing this model after the VI version was available meant a discounted price, further discounted because I purchased it used from B&H. No regrets on any count. I also have and use the Sony 6000 and 6500 with a variety of mostly Sony lenses.

Coming from an A7iii and the first RX Camera I'm getting is the RX100 VII. Thanks for the advice the RX Camera's are impressive and having that fast AF tracking ability is important.

How did you get the anchor links to fit on the camera. I purchased the leash and the anchor links that came with the camera are too big to push through the holes on the camera?

Love the camera. Don’t like the fact that when you push the pop up view finder down it shuts the camera off.

    Hey hey
I have a question. I am shooting with the new Sony RX100 VII. I am taking most of my photos (of myself) on a tripod. My problem is: how to do an interval shoot when I am being far away from the camera - the camera locks focus on my face while i click the shutter, but doesn’t continuously follow my face as I walk away (camera doesn’t let me change the focus settings). Hope you have an advice for me ! Thank you

Jelena Cikoja Sony should have a phone app that allows you to adjust the focus from your phone.

Hi Jared! I know this is old news but I just got a great deal on the vi and realizing the gap I’m this models ability to do Timelapse. I see there are intervalometers to plug in but is there a lighter weight software if i firmware solution for a backpacker? I have googled it but the info is pretty scarce. There does appear to be a device and an app but nothing detailed about using either especially in this vi. Have you tried time lapse on the vi with a work around? What is your advice? Thanks in advance.

Very nice review! I am thinking of buying this one in 2020, or should i spend a couple 100 more and go for the vii?

I find the display much dimmer than the VA, but overall prefer the zoom range.

I’m have. Sony rx100 V1. I need to make a 20 minute video BUT I’ve noticed that at 4K setting it will stop recording because of heat issues. What setting should I use?

Do you find the vi to have better stabilization than the v? The v was pretty bad for low shutter shooting.

the “puck" / strap where to get ?....please tnx Bob

    • @Chanson_Dada
      @Chanson_Dada 3 роки тому

Long time since you posted Bob but in case you didn't find them, the pucks are part of a camera strap made by peakdesign.com. Those pucks slot into clips on the strap. I'm guessing you can't buy them on their own. They're not specifically designed to use the way they are in the video but look useful used that way.
