    I'm so glad I found this. I've been doing fantasy football for years, but decided I wanted to play fantasy baseball this seaaon. I've done the fantasy challenge on ESPN the last few years, and I did daily baseball last year... but this is my first time in an actual fantasy baseball league. I've been searching everywhere for something that could kind of give me the general scoop of how fantasy baseball works so that I feel more comfortable come draft day. Thanks.

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  7 років тому

      In most leagues, you would get points for the players that have already played this regular season. But because it's baseball and there's 162 games, 1 game doesn't make much of a difference at all. Enjoy!

    Hey guys this video is amazing, I have one question if you don’t mind answering. I was messing around with the scoring settings, and now players can’t get negative points, for batters they get a point if they strike out, and pitchers guy a point if a run scores, and if I click reset to default the score goes to INF, do you guys know how to make points negative again or put scores to how they used to be because I kind of ruined the fun of it now and want to get it back as soon as possible, thank you in advance!

    Quick Question- Who should i bench while playing... should I bench a pitcher if he isn't starting? Nice vid btw

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  7 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! A general rule for pitchers: Start the best ones, unless they are injured/suspended. In some leagues, there are no bench spots for pitchers anyways, so you have to "start" all your pitchers. For your hitters, start the best hitters as long as they are playing. You will probably end up making more adjustments to your batters than your pitchers during the season. Hope that helps.

    hi, ill be playing fantasy baseball for my first time. I've played fantasy football before. I just want to know how should I go about drafting should I draft pitchers first or should I go after hitters. What's more valuable in baseball

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  7 років тому +1

      My recommendation is to look at overall rankings when they come out. We will be coming out with fantasy baseball rankings ourselves as well. Most of us at Fantasy Couch would rather wait for the a couple rounds instead of drafting Kershaw in the first, but it really depends what you want to do. Most of us draft 2-3 great hitters then look to draft a bunch of quality pitchers.

    Doing Head to Head Points for Fantasy Baseball and have a question....
    I have a few categories that I selected and am afraid they might overlap which would give credit to a player which may be more than they deserve although I’m not sure how it would work because I’ve never done HH Points before so I’m hoping someone could enlighten me. For example I selected Sac Hits and Sac Fly’s giving each .5 points. Also I have Walks 1 point, intentional walks 1 point, and hit by pitch 1 point. Just to clarify what I’m talking about, I would not want someone to get 2 points if they had an intentional walk which would also classify as getting a walk? I’m also doing this on Yahoo if that helps at all. Also feel free to post what your point system is for your league...

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  3 роки тому

      It's totally fine for points to overlap. How you have it setup is fine. You'll get a set amount of points for a walk, and then you'll get even more points for an intentional walk. You set it up well 👍

    im in a league and were doing points...should i really change it to head to head?

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  9 років тому +1

      We highly recommend playing head-to-head (H2H) and not Rotisserie (Roto). When you play head-to-head, there are three different formats:
      - Each Category
      - Most Categories
      - Points
      Feel free to play any of the three. Our personal preference is H2H Each Category. Points is pretty simple and easier to understand if you have a lot of first-timers in the league... In short, as long as you're playing H2H, you're good!

  • @williambaker9877
    @williambaker9877 5 років тому +1

    What if there are instances where I don't have players playing on a certain day and my bench players for that position aren't playing either? Do you swap out and drop people to the waiver wire to make sure you always have players playing every day? Or is it OK to miss a day here and there and that is normal?
    Not all of your pitchers will be playing every day is that OK?

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  5 років тому +2

      Pitchers are completely different than Hitters... for Hitters, you will almost always have plenty of players that are playing on any given day. Typically, you only drop hitters if they are severely underperforming or they are severely injured & out for a long time. Pitches is different... a lot of the stats taken are averages, so it's expected that your pitchers only play once or twice per week... Once you play for a couple weeks, you'll get the hang of it.

      +Roman Nechiporuk People usually don't join leagues and draft this early. I suggest you try to join a public league in about two months or so (it gets really popular the month before Opening Day). If you joined a public league now, you likely wouldn't have another 9 or 11 players to draft with. In February, try to go here and play: games.espn.go.com/frontpage/baseball

    I have a GM in my league that endorses Min moves & Min trades if any as his way to play. He was last place last year. I’m the coCommish of the league and we are trying to endorse a culture of Activity ( Daily moves , Set up line up, Trades) in our league. I believe it’s more fun when everyone is involved in all the means available. I’m wondering what you guys feel about this?

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  4 роки тому

      I don't like forcing people to make waiver/FA moves and trades... that feels like a weird dictatorship or something... too many rules... remember the end goal of this fantasy thang is to have fun and compete... I do enforce rules to make sure everyone competes and sets their lineup with some effort tho... if there is a fantasy owner that is MIA for more than a week and not setting their lineup, I give them a warning and tell them they have to do it, even if they are in last place or else there will be consequences... they always cooperate and understand... they know my leagues are about competing and if you don't really really wanna play... then good riddance !

    • @031074
      @031074 4 роки тому

      Isn’t it the fun of having a league is to have everyone involved in all facets? I rather go against a opponent that’s super active than a guy playing dead. I think it’s a boring league if everyone thought at a minimum way.
      Look at all the forums, nobody is looking for a guy that does the bare minimum. No, they want a active guy. Why join , if you’re going to be a part timer. At a pickup game of basketball, do you want the players just standing there. No, you want them to shoot, Pass, and play defense. I could see in a money league if you want to be a isolationist and do what you want.
      But in a free league, guys want to be involved in a vibrant league.

    • @031074
      @031074 4 роки тому

      Besides in my experience, being nice and giving the Benefit of the doubt hasn’t worked. Lol
      We had guys with personal problems, that we want to give a break to help them, but they refuse and go on with the business of being active with there team. Then you get the guy that says I didn’t have time or I forgot.
      If you join anything in life , be a part of it, participate. ✌️

    • @031074
      @031074 4 роки тому

      Look, I don’t like to force anyone to do anything. I’m sick of the babysitting! 😂
      Wouldn’t it be nice to have a group that’s ultra active and competitive?
      I feel for years that active players in leagues are always getting punished.
      There’s always excuses for the guy that just sits on there team. Leave him alone, he’s busy, let hm do what he wants, it’s his way to play.
      Active guy has to deal with no competition in the league, move limits , trade limits with massive vetos. We did away with a lot of those suppressing rules. You have all the tools to make a competitive team. No excuses! 😂

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  4 роки тому

      what your problem is isn't the rules, it's the people. you have to have a good group of people. i have a facebook group for fantasy football where you can find great owners to play with, but that's for football. you can't force people to love, compete and be passionate about something. so all these extra rules may just drive the person away and to ghost you guys (more of those BS excuses). Anyway, if you're interested in our facebook group it's called Fantasy Couch Fam fb.com/groups/fantasycouch

    What does max mean for my pitchers

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  Рік тому

      Max in fantasy baseball is short for maximum, and it refers to caps placed on certain positions or statistics. A maximum over an entire season is more common in the Rotisserie format of fantasy baseball, while caps on a weekly basis might be set for head-to-head leagues. Hope that helps

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  5 років тому +1

      I'd really have to look at the league. Perhaps sending me a screenshot on social media might help. Maybe your league is a categories league and not a fantasy points league? Maybe you scored more points in one day but your opponent scored more points for the week (h2h fantasy basketball and baseball are typically weekly competitions). Maybe your pitchers' worst game gets thrown out the books. Maybe you're looking at the wrong thing. Maybe it's a rotisserie league and not head to head? I dunno... I would recommend looking at all the settings and other teams' wins & losses to try and figure it out. I'm @fantasycouch on social media btw. Hope that helped and you get this figured out

    How do u do mock draft

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  8 років тому

      +Roman Nechiporuk Unfortunately, not too many people are playing fantasy baseball right now, so there's not too many options you have at the moment. I would wait a couple months. When the time is right, you can mock draft with other real people in the previous link I provided. Those mock drafts take a long time, so you can also try the DraftWizard Draft Simulator where you can mock draft much faster against the computer... Unfortunately, that won't be up either until preseason: draftwizard.fantasypros.com/?sport=mlb&partner=fpros

    • @FantasyCouch
      @FantasyCouch  9 років тому

      Kelley Hundley You can set your lineups (who to start and who to bench) ahead of time. On top of that, it is recommended you check your lineups earlier in the day for any updates that may prevent that player from playing. Does that answer your question?

    • @kelleyhundley

      Fantasy Couch Yes, but I can't fins any button or command that says anything about "setting" my lineups. I'm on Yahoo Fantasy League.

      @FantasyCouch  9 років тому

      Kelley Hundley It's under 'My Team' near the top of the site on the menu... Click on 'My Team' and then you can select a the day you are editing. There is a ^ icon that indicates if that player is playing that day. You can adjust your lineup, who's starting and who's sitting, then the changes should be automatically saved.

    TLDR: The video provides tips and strategies for playing and winning at fantasy sports, including choosing the right settings, preparing for drafts, using the waiver wire, trading players, and staying up-to-date on player news and weather.
    1. 00:00 📊 Choose a group, website, league size, and scoring settings to start playing fantasy baseball.
    1.1 Learn how to play fantasy baseball by deciding on a group, website, league size, and scoring settings.
    2. 01:16 📈 In fantasy baseball, winning as many categories as possible is key to beating your opponent in head-to-head leagues.
    2.1 Head-to-head leagues have two types of scoring: points leagues where each statistic has a point total attached to it, and category leagues where there are 10-12 categories to fill.
    2.2 In fantasy baseball, the goal is to win as many categories as possible in order to beat your opponent for that particular week.
    3. 03:21 🏈 Prepare for your fantasy sports league draft by aiming to draft a well-rounded team that can fill all categories and considering the point settings.
    3.1 Prepare for your fantasy sports league draft, whether it's online or offline, and aim to draft an overall good team for a category league.
    3.2 Draft a well-rounded team that can fill all categories and consider the point settings before drafting in fantasy baseball.
    4. 05:34 🏈 Prepare for fantasy football draft with mock drafts and rankings, and simulate your league's circumstances.
    4.1 Prepare for your fantasy football draft by doing mock drafts and utilizing resources like rankings, and aim to do mock drafts with the same number of people as your league to prepare for different circumstances.
    5. 06:37 🏈 Use the waiver wire to improve your fantasy football team by picking up undrafted players, with priority determined by waiver order or bidding system.
    5.1 To improve your team during the season, use the waiver wire to pick up players who weren't originally drafted.
    5.2 In fantasy football, waiver order determines who gets priority in picking up players, but in some leagues, a bidding system is used where the highest bidder wins regardless of waiver order.
    6. 08:14 🏆 Trade players to address weaknesses and buy low, sell high to improve your fantasy sports team.
    6.1 To improve your fantasy baseball team, focus on trading players to address weaknesses and aim to buy low and sell high.
    6.2 To make a successful trade in fantasy sports, find a team with a weakness in a position you have strength in and ask for advice on fair trades through social media.
    7. 10:24 📅 Plan ahead and check for updates on injuries, player news, and weather around noon for fantasy baseball, which is played daily for months with possible rainouts.
    7.1 Fantasy baseball is played every day for four to five months, with rainouts requiring planning ahead and setting lineups in the morning.
    7.2 Check the Internet around noon for injury updates, player news, and weather, especially for baseball due to the possibility of rain outs.
    8. 12:13 💰 Decide on winnings distribution and award the winner with a championship belt from fantasycouch.com.
    8.1 Check your league settings and decide on how to distribute winnings, with the winner receiving a fantasy baseball championship belt from fantasycouch.com.

      +26Rudders Sorry, I didn't see this last year. Is this perhaps because the baseball season just ended? Now is the time to play fantasy baseball, before the regular MLB season starts. You get your players by drafting, and then you can add and drop players on what's called 'waivers' after the draft is complete.
