You're right, I've since updated it to a much smaller and opaque Rubbermaid bin. My results were a little bit better but I think I'm going to try something with a mister set up.

For more even bubbling consider long rectangular air stones. You can elevate them with a brick so they spray the surface well.

@@flgardening813 your air pump should be higher than your tank, unless you have non return valves, apart from that good for you doing your own
