One of the most suspenseful movies I have seen in theater.
It's sad that we do not appreciate good films in theatre and years later we all complain how a movie was way ahead of its time.

I must say that Anupama is the only reviewer that gives credit to the entire team including the DOP, sound, script writer.. no other reviewers even mention them..

@@aaaarishBharat she gave an impactful performance, Katrina character fell for a man was refused marriage because the man left his family in Pakistan, Katrina in the emotional scenes was very good and the hindi dialogues were delivered by Katrina very confident and forcefully do go and find this Bharat and see for yourself and Baar Baar Dekho you see this film, you will find there she acted excellent.

Merry Christmas gives the ambiance and feel of slow burning fire place, on a frosty winter night, in a cosy house somewhere, in snow covered mountains.... Katrina Kaif and Vijay Setupati give a very nuanced, restrained performance, against a brilliant background score, in a nostalgic past called Bombay...In one word it was beautifully put together by maestro Sriram Raghavan...Though the film has a murder mystery angle, the restrained emotional connect of its lead cast, amid the tempo set by the director, leaves you with the bliss of Christmas when it ends....The film grows on you like good old wine....

I am really excited to watch this film but honestly here for Anupama's nuanced, insightful review. It's particularly rewarding to watch her flex her muscles and tease out all the rich cinematic references and details that Raghavan peppers his films with. I am a literature academic and I genuinely think it was no one else but Anupama Chopra (who I have been watching dissect films ever since I was a kid) who taught me how to properly close read a text/film! Really looking forward to watching Merry Christmas ❤️
Katrina was always condemned for her acting and I agreed that a lot of times but she worked hard and hard and has improved so much. ❤

What a beautiful movie ...the thriller aspect was integral to the story but essentially it was a love story which felt like a surreal poetry

I still can't get over the dance of Vijay and Katrina in the first half of the film. It seems like both of them really complimented each other and I must commend Sriram Raghavan for bringing out the best chemistry between two people who seem highly unlikely to even share a chemistry.

Katrina Kaif definitely does know acting. what is an actor after all? a person that can convince you they are the character they are playing, and yes every single character she has convinced everybody she is that person she is playing. They are more different acting projects biopics where you mold yourself to be someone else see Sam Bahadur and see Sanju that's a point of reference they being someone real and you get convinced. However if you are not doing a biopic you are free to interpret the character in which way you want so yes Katrina Kaif is good actor.

Katrina's dialogue in Merry Christmas "the one I loved is dead, and to him I am dead too, but I'm still here right?" I felt emotional on listening and seeing Katrina Kaif say this dialogue. I like Vijay's dialogue he said "violence is better than sacrifice" .
I liked the sequence of the bird flying out of the cage, and free. It's my wish for Katrina Kaif to be free to sign films with Ayushman Khurana, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Free from negative PR, just free to take Vicky Kaushal help and just free to focus only on her acting job.
