Why is this even a procedure? What ever happened to "do no harm?" If I was a doctor and some guy asked me to do this, then I would just refer him to a therapist to deal with his insecurities.
Also, doctors learn specifically how to do these kinds of surgeries, so they already have their mind set on “hurting” people to “help” people. They aren’t gonna ask a heart surgeon or a brain surgeon to do cosmetic surgery.

This is rough and clearly he didn’t think very highly of himself. Honestly that self doubt is prolly why no one was smiling at him on the street cuz he was just mad all the time about being short. Yea I know, having 8 figure bank accounts doesn't hurt but I'm sure most of them had no problems getting women before signing pro contracts. Dude should have just embraced being the height he was supposed to be and just worked out like crazy.

6:10 I think because he is more confident in himself, he's now more approachable so OF COURSE people will smile at him. It's not because he's tall, it's because he's not a grumpy, Debbie-downer. You're more likely to smile at someone who is approachable since you can expect a positive response in return.
I’m 5’8” & when I was a younger man (18-30), I never really thought about my height. Granted, this was before the internet made a big deal about that kinda thing. I was generally pretty confident (for the most part, I was a little shy with girls at first). I’m sure I lost out on women who were attracted to taller guys, but I generally did quite well for myself. I remember people being surprised when I’d say how tall I was. They’d say “Oh, I thought you were like 5’11” or something. I’m convinced that mostly came from being confident & not being aware that I was dealing with an ‘impediment,’ lol. However, I will say that, if I was 6’2”, I would’ve absolutely cleaned up back in the day🤣
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192personally have never given a crap about height. Be a good person. Be funny. Be educated. Be kind. Those are the things that most women are actually attracted to.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Oh good, I'm not crazy. I always thought the Internet made a big deal out of it. I'm a girl and growing up, none of my girl friends ever once uttered anything about height. Even the guys they crushed on weren't tall. In the end it usually boiled down to how confident, kind or quirky they were.
This is what people don't realize, I was always into the really tall skinny guys as *a type* but both of the people I dated the longest before I got married were "shorter". The guy was like 5'9 (my height) and the other girl was a lot shorter. I don't really think that 5'9 is short but you know they are talking about 6+
This for sure. A friend of mine is around 5'5" and he keeps complaining about how isn't finding a girlfriend. He also has no charisma and doesn't know how to approach women. If you aren't approachable it doesn't matter what your height is.
I've broken my legs by accident and I regret that with every fibre of my being. You couldn't pay me $100,000 to do it on purpose. Having broken bones sucks. 😣
I fell down the stairs and broke my leg in multiple places, had to have a full reconstruction with plates, pins and screws. I'm always in pain and I can't do much physical activity. Dude is in for a rude shock when he realises you don't heal from these type of injuries
The guy is actually quite charming and funny. His vibe is chill and comforting to the girl. I am really not surprised she was enjoying the date. I think a lot of men are misled on height, of course in most cases tall height serves as an advantage, but being short by itself isn't a death sentence. I speak from personal experience and what I have observed
I had a radial head fracture in my left arm caused by a bike accident a couple years. It was a small fracture, but the pain was close to unbearable. Why this guy chose to have his legs deliberately broken is way beyond my understanding.
Can you imagine if something happened where he broke his leg on accident and it messed up the entire 100k procedure? I’d be too paranoid of the potential risks, health wise and just monetarily. Plus, how is he getting any sleep with those external metal things on his legs? He’s a handsome guy short or tall. It’s a shame he felt the need to do this. I just pray he’s happy and healthy now.
with how weak the bone ends up even after months of "healing" he wouldn't need to be on a accident to break a leg, he could slip on a rock and break BOTH LEGS.
The vast majority of women won't even speak to a man unless he's over 6 feet tall. If you don't believe me, go make an online dating profile as a man and read the thousands of women's profiles in your city. I guarantee 99% will have all these requirements like being over 6 feet, making over 6 figures, loves to travel constantly.....
there's another guy on instagram who had the same surgery and it's been over a year and he still wobbles like a toddler because he is "not fully healed yet" and that's after being in bed for like 6 months unable to walk at all.
I gotta wonder if this guy's ex actually made that many jokes about his height or if it was just a couple of times but he kept going over them to the point it seemed to him like she kept making jokes about it. This is one of those things you do not do if you have just a smidge of confidence about...
That’s what I was thinking too. Same with the number of ppl smiling at him, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s exactly the same as before, but he was too busy dwelling on the negative to notice
Have you ever fallen in love and then had the whole world start smiling at you and staring in a good way? I'm pretty sure this is like that. Dude is in love with his new self and the world is reacting to his energy.
I am actually currently undergoing limb lengthening as I am typing this. I have achondroplasia that is a form of dwarfism. I’ve gone from 3’ 10” to around 4’ 2.5”. It has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It was covered by insurance as mine isn’t just for aesthetics. It will allow me to get around better and reach more things. External fixators aren’t just for giving you more height but can be used to correct limb deformities as well.
There are risks to it of course as there is to everything but there are published studies showing that most cases for dwarfism have been successful without major complications like nerve damage, paralysis, etc. I had the same thought as him thinking “why did I do this” but as I’m 3 months into it and done lengthening, I’m glad I have done it.
I don't think anybody is judging an appropriate, life-enhancing surgery that isn't cosmetic. I hope your recovery is going well and that this improves your life tremendously. However, the man in the video literally paid out the ass and gave himself a handicap due to insecurity, & that's just sad. Therapy would have done him better in the long run...
"I mean, ya he hits me and yells at me, doesnt take me out on dates, all of his friends suck, he has no personality, and my parents hate him, but cmon! He's 6 feet tall 😍"
As a 62 year old woman I have arthritis in both knees and need to have operations to put it right. This man thinks he is in pain now but as he gets older the pain will be chronic. Please do not do this to yourself. 💙
My friend had to do this surgery as a pre-teen, but the doctors needed to do it since she had Polio as a baby. (Born in South East Asia and adopted to europe) Even after the surgery she's 4'9 as an adult... The polio really messed her leg up, she can dislocate her hip by turning in bed, and she walks using crutches.
As a shorty, I admit, I do treat tall guys differently. Short guys, I look at them as potential partners. Tall guys, I yell at them to stop blocking the fking stage/screen when I'm at a concert or movie. 😊
I used to work in a call center and my trainer was in medical text books because he was one of the first people to have this type of medical procedure done to him. It wasn't for aesthetic reasons, though, it was because one of his legs was significantly shorter than the other, so they lengthened the shorter one so that they were even to prevent other problems from developing in his hips, back, etc over time.
A friend of mine expressed intent for a surgery like this, i just brought him to a doctor and made sure they explain it so extensively that he doesn't contemplate it ahead and it worked. P.S: he's 5'3 now i think and he's doing quite well.
My dad is an orthopedic surgeon and I’m 4’11. I also asked him to do this surgery on me or give me growth hormones and he basically laughed at me 😂 I was 13. The struggle is real for short people sometimes, especially men.
I had to get a similar operation because my legs were a different length and it was causing scoliosis and horrible back pain. It was a super painful operation and I had to relearn how to walk. Couldn't imagine doing that to BOTH of your legs OUT OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL. Jeez
I am trying out PT and Orthotics on my feet to try to avoid surgeries. I will never let anyone operate on my feet unless it's necessary. I can't imagine voluntarily messing with your legs or feet
I’m a 5’7 guy and for some reason when I got bulkier from hitting the gym I was hit with the same rhetoric and I’m like NO i hit the gym mainly because most girls like men who’re in shape and muscular. Yet when an already tall guy bulks up, they don’t get the same reaction. I looked into this height process about 12 years ago and said hell naw, I did wear shoe lifts to get to 5’9 and that got me a few girls I probably would’ve never stood a chance with but I always felt off about it even though my older brother said that women wear push up bras why cant you wear push up shoes? DAMN
I am genderqueer (transmasc) and have moderate height dysphoria. I considered this surgery for a little while once upon a time. I only wanted about 2-4 inches. Engaging with healthy masculinity and the queer community helped me realize that it's okay to just wear heels.
Spider webs, man. Spider webs. Ten people walk in front of you and you'll catch it right in the face. I'm not 6'11", but I'm tall enough (6'4") to get it.

There has been tons of research on the effect of height on men. More likely to get hired, to get promoted, to get a pay raise, to have people like you, to be foubd attractive, so on and so on. The only disadvantage is if you are so tall you constantly have to duck or develop medical issues from it. I am 5'10" and I found out from personal experience height matters as a man. I decided to buy some boots one day. They are about 1.5 inches thick on the heel so I was while wearing them roughly 6' tall. The way people treated me was so significantly different that I only wear boots now.
The rest of his body matches his original height, yet his legs don't anymore. You quite literally get shorter as you age as well, in some cases by a good few inches. He spent over 100k to put himself through a slow, long-term pain as he grows older while his body changes. All just for people to somewhat notice him, and not even noticing him for his height specifically, but rather what he did to be that tall. He didn't even go for something that'd make him stand-out like 7"+, because there are guys still taller than him, naturally as well.
@@PrinceIsot Thank you I appreciate it because it comes from a line of really monstrous men and I'm truly blessed the name will die with me and I got to turn it into a good one ☺
I really don’t see the big deal with this surgery-sure it’s drastic and looks scary, but if it gives him confidence and improves his quality of life this much, then why shouldn’t he? It’s not like the doctors are cavemen, it looks like they know what they’re doing. I believe him when he says people treat him differently, you don’t notice things like that until you make a big change like this. And I don’t think he’s desperate for validation, I think he just made a very personal and deliberate choice for himself to be happier that a lot of people won’t understand. You have to choose yourself.

I'm 5'6" and, when I was dating in the 90s, I didn't care how tall/short a guy was. I dated a guy for just over a month who was 2 inches shorter than me. I ended it not because I had a problem with his height but because HE had a problem with it. He blamed EVERYTHING on him being short. It was exhausting trying to keep his ego soothed. "I don't care how tall you are. When you can say the same thing about yourself, give me a call."
in their defense, no matter how confident they are, they WILL face "haha short" jokes daily. even the guy in this video had his gf make fun of him. meanwhile, those 2 up above are also doing the same. It is VERY INCREDIBLY difficult to truly stand above such an issue, when society as a whole is constantly attacking you for it. plus, its a fact that height is the NUMBER ONE search factor for a partner on dating apps. its *literally* the most important attribute to the average woman on dating apps.

I’m 6’1 or 6’2. I had a friend years ago who was about 5’6. He was convinced that people treated him differently than tall guys but he was very popular and charismatic. He never seemed to have a problem with girls. I think the insecurity is worse than being short itself.
A lotta people making fun of him but what that one commenter said: It's true though. Prettier / handsome people are treated far better than what we as a society label "ugly" people. Easier to: get a job, earn favours, get into a relationship, treated nicely just a little bit more. They're also considered by others, judged less, and can get away with a lot more Your own self-confidence is a separate matter that *absolutely* increases your likability, don't get me wrong. But handsome or beautiful people are higher in the social ark, than self-assured ones. Which is beyond sad.
@@Anna.T.Yeah, women are ‘adorable’ at 4’11” and ‘sexy’ at 6’. Y’all have other difficulties in life to deal with, but a woman’s height generally isn’t in play, as far as attracting people.
As a guy who's 5'0, I wouldn't want to go through all that pain and money just to be slightly taller. Look, I get it. Being short has a social drawback in a few aspects. A large example many use are women preffering taller guys. One one hand, yeah, you encounter those people, but overall, my height has never really a point of contention outside of my own insecurities. It's all in the mind and the person. My grandson had this surgery but we knew that he would need it since birth. He was born with one leg shorter than the other and the discrepancy increased every year until his legs were a little over 2" different in length and he had to wear an ever-higher lift in his shoe over time. When he was 14 years old the doctors agreed that it was time for the surgery on his right leg. It was absolutely brutal and the pain was off the charts for him. The leg had to be "re-broken" every day for a month. He had a different mechanism than the one featured in this video. My grandson's was in his ankle and it was internal. It's still there to this day and he is almost 27 years old now. There were also surgeries for the ligaments, etc. and then rehab. The surgeries were successful but my grandson still has doubts that he should have done it because the whole affair took 2 years and, again, the pain was extreme throughout. On the other hand, he is grateful not to have to wear a lift for the rest of his life and realizes that he would have struggled in many areas of life had he not done it. What I don't understand about this video is how the doctors were able to add 7" to each calf bone. You would think his legs would look completely disproportionate if he was 5'5" before the surgeries, but in the pics at 8:41 his legs look like he was born that way. It's real had scratcher.
Ilizarov's surgery is quite risky to do. It can jam ur joints if physiotherapy isn't proprer which is most painful part. Don't influence urself from stupid suggestions and insecurities.
@jamiephilip79 Truth. I wish I could be shorter for a few reasons. Can fit in airplane seats more comfortably, naturally a bit lighter in weight, can fit in smaller spaces, be better balanced. For my hobbies like horseback riding and flying small rental planes, I'd think being shorter would be an advantage for me. XD
Height is actually a type of privilege in a way. Not just reaching things, but even things like cars seats and seatbelts are designed for adult males around the 6' mark. This actually causes an increased danger to those shorter, primarily women. A lot of seating is designed for taller people as well so shorter people are left unable to rest their feet flat on the ground which makes it more uncomfortable.
The dumb question hung about this is that only one part of your leg gets longer, so the other half is shorter. It looks super dumb when they walk. It’s not in proportion
I think the smiles from strangers is more likely to be from his confidence rather than his height. If you walk around confidently, not shying away from random eye contact and smile when you it happens, most people will react to that and smile back. lol just posted this and then unpaused and Ken said “I wonder if people smile at him because he’s smiling more”. Haha I agree!

The rest of his body matches his original height, yet his legs don't anymore. You quite literally get shorter as you age as well, in some cases by a good few inches.
