      My dad many years ago had Allstate,(Sears and Roebuck)this was many decades before the internet and you either paid your bill at a Sears retail store or you mailed it in.
      Dad had just made his premium payment for the year and about 3-4 months later,he gets his check back with a letter about not wanting his business anymore,dad NEVER had a claim with Allstate the 20+years he was with them.(Sears is where America shops...REALLY??)
      Good thing my dad never had an accident because most likely he'd have to sue them.
      I have Progressive,so far,this is the cheapest insurance that I can find,I'm always checking rates of the competition,but so far,Progressive is the cheapest.(Flo must be buying generic💄⬅lipstick these days HAHA!!)

      I'm with USAA and they have something called a subscribers savings account. they basically put a portion of their profits into an account that I get if I ever cancel my insurance with them. I've been with them for 30 years and it is up around $5,000 and every year I get a dividend last one was around $200.

The first major drop was when they gave me this device to plug into my car to measure my driving patterns..... After they got the device back and checked it, I received a significant reduction since I do not drive much. Now my van is 17 years old and the rates keep dropping "a little" every year..... not a lot... but a little.... ;-)

I had the car for 2 weeks when I was driving through tobyhanna pa in a snow storm lost control of the car and hit a snow mound knocked off the oil filter which froze the engine. Progressive insurance said it was a manufacturing problem and Chrysler said it was an insurance problem. I got stuck putting an engine in the car with my expenses. Cases in point! 2011- changed to Utica Ins Co, rate $700 or $800 annually. 2 years later they wanted $1000-$1100, jumped ship with Travelers for $850 & 2 years later they wanted $1150. Jumped ship with them in 2016 for $850 with Safeco. 2 years later they wanted $1150 and they are a Liberty Mutual Co. However the quote to replace them from Liberty Mutual was around $800-$850 but Progressive quoted $720. Went with Progressive! Here we go 'round the Mulberry bush. I can do it every year if I have to! They're all a bunch of whores!

      That’s true for most vehicles. My RX-8 I got for less than $3500, spent $1000 on new tires (that’s with a discount, I need those tires for pulling G’s in the corners), but within 3 years my insurance will be more than that (also probably even my gasoline bills, which at single digit MPG, is not like that’s cheap...). My prior car was a super easy to work on and reliable Mercedes 300d (legendary W123 classy, also could change oil in a suite and tie without getting dirty, excellent car for normal people and mechanics both!), but the yearly rate was more than what it cost...
      The absurd insurance price (no change regardless of car) was so high, I decided to buy more exotic expensive cars since what’s $1000 tires and a $3000 blown engine every few years compared to the known scalping of $1.2k per year? I wasn’t going to drive some $400 to $500 car and pay the $1000+ yearly insurance for! It means that over the ownership, the fun track cars really don’t cost you that much more since insurance costs more than even drag cars that do wheelies! (It’s $8-10k for drag cars with preinstalled wheelie bars, extra for the parachutes).

    I am 51 and haven't had a car insurance claim since I was 22 years old (minor accident $400 or so). Anyways, it seems to me that all insurance companies start out giving you a low rate, and leave it low for a few years, then start raising it every year until after 7 or 8 years, your rate is almost double what it started at. I think they count on a certain amount of people not wanting to bother switching again and just staying, albeit the higher rate. Seems abnormal and non-competitive to some degree. I hate all insurance.

Their insurance company charges quite a bit but only pays out $15000-$25000 for an accident that results in $100000's of damages. So people need to get underinsured policies, too.

      Payment is always: loss-deductible subject to limitations. If your loss wasn't near 80% of the car's value, then they should have paid minus the deductible. I'd need to see your car's KBB value and the invoice to repair to know for sure, but if they truly paid much less than they should have, you can report them to tmyour states insurance commission (or whatever it's called for you) and you'd have a bad faith claim in court which can cost them much, MUCH more than of they'd paid in the first place. You have he right to hire your own adjuster, but bear in mind, they charge a percentage of the claim. (Tx no more than 10%, as example)

    I worked as an investigator for many years. Most of my clients were insurance companies. I have worked cases where the injured claimant could have easily settled to only have his medical bills paid. What happened? "Someone" at the insurance company decided to spend over $50,000 "defending" the claim even after I told them that my undercover investigation found the claimant would be happy if only his doctor bill was paid. My investigation bill was over $43,000 on this assignment and they tried to not pay my bill. Later, I discovered a kick back scheme between a claims examiner and a "friend" on a different claim and they decided to pay me my money but refused to hire me after that. I did not tell them what they wanted to hear. IMHO most insurance investigators are in the same murky swamp. Tell the insurance company ALL information that they do not want to hear and goodbye. I do not know of any insurance company for life, home or auto insurance that I trust. When in doubt, seek a public adjuster (former insurance claims adjusters) or a GOOD trial attorney ( no ambulance chasers) and they may know a way to keep them honest.

    Allstate increased every year just because the amount of claims in my region changed. I told them the state insurance dept had no proof of this (there's one that represents the state government in every state). Reasons to raise rates has no government oversight whatsoever. There will always be a better insurance company that will change this with competition.

    Good video Scotty. My AAA auto insurance went up because people in L.A. were getting into accidents and tickets. My wife and I have not had a ticket or wreck in last 40 years or more. Your right Scotty, its truly legal robbery! SAD!
    Oh, almost forget. During a big, big, storm hail and some really big winds here in Norther California. My roof leaked and caused interior damage, this is so stupid, they paid to fix the interior ceiling, which was least amount to pay, but wouldn't fix the roof. The storm caused the roof to leak. LOL or Not!

    Years ago I got a notice in the mail that Allstate was cancelling my coverage. I asked why, my agent at first, wouldn't even talk to me. I went directly to Allstate, and they said I was involved in a vehicular homicide. Turns out I had my car in the shop for engine repairs at the time they said I had the so called accident. When I showed proof the car couldn't have been involved, they took a week to then inform me that my social security number was mixed up with with someone else's . I went back to the agent, who was too ashamed to look me in the eye, and told me I was reinstated. No apology. I promptly told him where he could stick his insurance.

    When AARP recommends the Hartford run away they will Jack up your rates as soon as they can

    • @bishop9598
      @bishop9598 3 роки тому

      Hmmm, I have Hartford and have been with them for 4 years. Their premium rate has gone down every year. I am now paying $640 per year for full coverage. Should they raise it at any point, I will instruct my agent to "shop" it. Of course, I have an impeccable driving history (no tickets, claims, or accidents for well over 30 years), and that no doubt influences the rate.

    • @bishop9598
      @bishop9598 2 роки тому

      @@ar1701 Never have been one. I switched to them 5 years ago when I found that my 6 month rate dropped from $835 (Nationwide) to $384. Yep less than half.
      As far as what Den S said (that they will jack up rates after they get you signed on), I have found just the opposite. My rate has actually gone down as I am paying $365 for 6 month coverage now.
      May depend on your driving habits tho'. No tickets or accidents, or claims for over 30 years here. That rate is for Central Florida, although, I switched when I resided on South Florida's Gold Coast. It a comprehensive policy, that includes No-fault, collision, OEM replacement, road-side assistance, and all the bells and whistles I've always had.

      IF you can get a policy in the first place - I've been an AARP member since I was first eligible AND even worked a little over 3 years at a one time The Hartford subsidiary connected with AARP AND been claim free for over 10 years but they declined to give me a homeowners' quote. I suspect but can't prove that they redlined me since I live in Philly - and I really should drop my AARP membership like a bad habit.

    You were talking about Ins. for cars or trucks. I have a story. I drove a School Bus for 21 years, during that time I tried to get different Insurance for my car, I called "Progressive" they told me I had to take a class of 10 hours for safe driving or they wouldn't insure me? I tried to explain to them as a school bus driver we have to have 10 hours of classroom every year just to keep our cert. They wouldn't except the classroom for school busing, said I had to go to the school they wanted me to go to. I didn't go with them.

I've been a good customer of 21st Century Insurance for over 20 years and they've been pretty good to me and have consistently had very competitive rates for auto insurance. On the other hand, my former health insurance company, Aetna, was one of the worst companies that I've ever had the displeasure to deal with.
