Thank you! As a long-time SketchUp user, Blender has been way less intuitive to get started with, and I've watched probably 20 videos trying to figure out how to cut a window hole in a room! This is great.
That knife tool is exactly what I've been needing to finish some projects! Too many tutorials cover inorganic sculpting only so I think that knife trick will be exactly what I need.
Excellent video. I tried the boolean cut method, using a collection for a complex cut but a) when I render the cuts are not applied. So both the original object and the cuts are rendered instead of the final cut object and b) when exporting to an OBJ to use the cut object, again the boolean cut is not applied. It is as if the modifiers are not applied. Any ideas?
Very clear video and well presented. Please can you explain how I can use a cylinder as a Boolean to create a hole in a box, but get rid of the mesh inside the box while keeping the mesh outside the box. This is for a dust shroud for my bandsaw with a tube at an angle to attach a hose to. Many thanks
I am trying to cut the visor off a helmet. Boolean isn't working so far (made a thicker copy of the visor, then boolean difference but not succesful.) anyway to cut the star clean through to the other side of the square?
In case you are wondering how to apply the Boolean, like I was after watching this video- There is a tiny down arrow next to a camera icon on the Boolean modifier itself. Simply click that, and press apply to save the change!
But how do I cut a prefab model I downloaded then imported into blender. I cut it but it doesn't split. I separate the mesh but then can't join meshes back together.
it's my 2nd day of blender so here's my dumb way: once you Apply the mods the holes are permanent, but the cylinders remain. If you delete the cylinders they wont be kept solid when exporting to fbx. (i hope someone quickly corrects me)
In the scene collection, next to the Boolean collection with the objects used to cut through the mesh, there are three icons. Untick the ''Exclude from View Layer.'' You will see that the wire boolean objects disappear. If you export this to Unity, for example (fbx), the object will have the holes as wanted. Hope it helps, that's what I did and it worked for me.

❤Thank you very much sharing your knowledge, every learning point is clear and each one worth dollars.

Thank you so much. Clear good and understandable. I am new to blender and this one is gold! I hope that there are many more to videos to come!
Thank you for teaching boolean you saved me!

Hi Nice video thank you -- bTW what mouse and keyboard show app do you use ?
absolutely fabulous thank you so much
thank you so much. a life saver
You missed the main part how to apply it because its totally useless without!!!

Thanks for this.
i cant find the modifiers tab

Thanks ;)
Keeps saying modifier is disabled
did you figure out how to fix this
how tf do i export this :(((( im almost crying, im stuck with it exporting it (as .obj) with the "holes-objects", as solid ones

next: try to make perfect star shaped polygon. It is a beginner shape and you should know how to make one. ua-cam.com/video/Ie204suJG_g/v-deo.html
