i’ve watched like 20 videos where they tell you how to cut, but they never tell you how to delete those cuts. you‘re the only one who teaches that, thank you!!
thanks. It tooks me 10 minutes to realize, if the object, you want to cut off, is smaller than the original, you wont see the difference, because it is hidden inside :D
Jesus christ this should win a fucking grammy & become the new standard. How you SHOWN the steps AGAIN to make it clear about the new faces.. fucking bravo. Normally you have to rewind and fuck it all up. Thanks man.
I guess this is due to duplicate vertices. However, it may not be as well because beveling is tricky - and sometimes it causes very weird issues that are difficult to fix. Even I have experienced this sometimes.
nothing happens in method one for me (edit so I was accidentally putting a hole in the wrong mesh so I didn't see but the mesh that's getting cut needs the boolean)
I was trying to model a glock 19 but i did not know how to cut and watched other videos and one said i should use the carving tool add-on and i tried using it but it was trash and i almost lost hope but then i saw your video and tried every step and now i already created m4a1 after the glock 19, thank you 😁👍
Thanks for the quick but informative tutorial, I wanted to cut a cylinder object in half but didn't know how but after watching this video I now know. Thanks!
thanks man, 1st option is the best and fastest. sometimes after boolean modifier the model with lots of polygons might look edgy, edge split modifier fixes that. So I often use it in pair.
@@5MinutesBlender and you know what? I'm doing a project which helps me graduate from college. I almost done with the 3D object. Wish I could write your channel on my paper
@@5MinutesBlender many of your videos I've watched. Love the way you explain. I got the point and improved it. Btw, I already have design skill on illustrator, this also helped me to understand and apply
Thanks for your tutorial. Yesterday i was making some gear and only knew the boolean cut out. That took way to long xD. The tutorial was good explained :D thanks
Yes, if you can import the stl file into Blender, rest of the process is the same. The import may not always work for all models, because it is a cross-platform issue - but mostly it works for simple models.
bro look this is ur latest vid if u are reading this please give me a heart so in know u read this, I just wanna say that ur tutorial is the best and easy and u show us with many diffrent exsample and I just wanna say thanks and countinue being the persone u are, love
when I was trying to make a chess rook, I put a cuboid in the rook and cutted it, but now it has a hollow cut and I could see its inside as it was hollow. how can I fix that?
You can add a face to the open end of the rook. Select the rook, go to the Edit mode, switch over to the vertex selection mode if not already selected. Now deselect everything and select the vertices that are at the boundary of the open face. Then go to the Vertex menu and select "New Edge/Face from Vertices" - it will add a face to your rook to make it closed.
@@5MinutesBlender thanks! I was just trying to make the blocks on the top of the rook and I found a way to make it; I go to face select and select the parts that will be indented and just pull them own. thanks anyway ill do this method on other builds but prob not this one.
but in method 2 when u open the scale panel, the size is the same as before u separated it, and the cursor is still in the middle of the cylinder before you cut it
I'd say this is expected behavior. 1) When you cut out the lower third, the height of the remaining section becomes shorter. But that is its absolute height. The "Scale" factor still remains as before, it does not signify the actual height. You can resolve this by going to Object menu -> Apply -> Scale. 2) You have correctly noticed that the origin point of the remaining part still lies at the center of the cylinder before the cut. Even for the cut-out part, the origin is not really at the correct place. You said the "cursor" is at the center. Actually the 3D cursor is not the issue, you can move it anywhere. The issue is with the "origin point" of the objects. You can fix it by selecting the object, then go to Object menu -> Set Origin -> Origin to Geometry. You need to be in the Object mode to make these changes. Hope that helps! If any more queries, or if this does not solve the issue, please feel free to let me know. Thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial. The boolean destroyed my poor laptop- and didn't work! i think it was because the object i was cutting out of had subdivison surface on?
Yes, probably the subdivision had too many levels. If you just want to test the water with such high-poly object, you can switch over to the Fast option which works little faster instead of the Exact option. But do that before you select the cutter object because Blender by default uses the Exact option. So change that first and then select the cutter object (i.e. the target). Even the Fast option may not work if your machine has very limited capability, but you can try it once.
May I know what you mean by a new layer? Which part of the video are you referring to? If you can give us a timestamp, we'll understand it better and we can suggest you better. As such the techniques discussed here are applicable for 3.4.1 as well.
Subdivision modifiers are added in order to create additional geometry for an object without affecting its shape and size. It is very helpful in making a surface smooth (among many other use cases).
How do you use the first method with a duplicate of your first object, so you cut out the exact shape of your object leaving only a thin brim of your object?
Hi, I did not get the question. Do you want to use the same object and its duplicate as the source and the cutter? That will remove everything from the first object leaving nothing I guess, just a void. But I did not understand why you will do that, or what you are trying to create 🤔

this worked out great. just one slight problem. hair particles are where they shouldnt be. just kinda floating where the object used to exist
