PUBLIC DOMAIN IMAGES for Print on Demand - Animals, Plants and Nature! High Quality & Free!

When designing for Redbubble, Teepublic or any print on demand site (Etsy, Merch by Amazon, etc.) a "quick win" is to grab high-quality, free and legal public domain images for your designs. Museums and archive websites often contain a huge number of these free designs. They can be a bit tricky to navigate.

Just a quick note. The dingo poster is not in good taste. The lady who said that a dingo took her baby was not lying. They found the babies remains a couple of years ago and it was dingoes.

I discovered your channel just a few months ago, and have been following you ever since. I am working my way backwards to view all of your videos. You make them so easy to follow and understand! I just watched the Bio Diversity Library and loved it! Great content for incorporating photo ideas into my POD business. I am not very techy and I do not use Photoshop, AI, etc. My question is...are there alternatives for removing the background in the images, and altering the photos by adding text using CANVA, PLACEIT or other tools like that? Nice! This print on demand business am I right by saying you don't need a heat press or buy the actual garments, all you have to do is send in your designs wherever you get them from. So it's a big money saving operation.

Yes exactly - you can sign up to Redbubble, upload a picture that you design, and then set the design on 70+ products (clothing, coffee mugs) and then if you sell a product, you get a commission. That’s it - you don’t actually do anything inventory-wise.

Thanks for the info again. At 5:48 you said you removed the background and stuck an old vintage peice of paper behind it to make it uniform and then added wording to it. How did you remove the background and keep just the image of the Dingo? What photoshop do you use and do you have a video how to do this? I have PhotoscapeX Pro but don't know how to do that particular task, separating an image just itself from it's background. I can crop an image like square or circular and paste it onto a new background , but it still retains some of the original background if you know what I mean. But how do you remove the background and keep the exact, defined image? Can you provide info on this? How to remove the background but just keep the precise image? Thank you so much!

I find it weird to see Flickr in this list as their terms of service forbids using materials this way.

They have a standard disclaimer on every Flickr album. They are just saying to check with the copyright holder. But there is no copyright holder. The museum is stating that it is public domain. Hope that helps,

Hey there - no everything is public domain on this site (so it's already free). Some museums offer a paid option for a super high-resolution scan - another option is to just upscale the image in Photoshop, Inkscape or free option: ua-cam.com/video/3b_r04ODafM/v-deo.html

I went over to BHL and I ended up getting into the birds and butterflies, great stuff, when I downloaded one of the birds to Gimp , when I was making the picture transparent I could not erase the top and bottom of the picture has words written across the picture, I went to Lunapic and no matter what the words keep reappearing after I saved it, so I just cropped it in Lunapic cutting off the top and bottom where the words are, I double-checked and I'm allowed to use it, strange indeed

Great question - the answer is no you do not have to edit the photo. You can do whatever you want with the picture (including nothing). If you are adding text, you are creating an original design - sounds like a great idea for flashcards!
