Hi Susan, thank you for the information about the Library of Congress. Sometimes I feel as if I live beneath a rock. This is one of those times. Thank you for the clear explanations about copyright images versus free ones. This is a dream come true. Without you, I’d have been in the dark forever. Thanks again! 👍💞👏👏👏😘
Hi Susan, thank you again for introducing the world of free images to us. I've been watching all your free images videos today and gain so much knowledge 😊
I am trying to make Christmas ornaments and I am having trouble finding vintage Christmas book covers/images. I am so glad that you made these videos, every crafter/artist should view them. I don't normally make paper crafts, so I haven't heard of too many people using images, from online, until recently. Many people are downloading images from Google and Pinterest, for the holiday crafts and ornaments, and I don't want to do that. I guess it is okay, if they are just using them as personal use, but I am trying to start a business. This is fantastic information, but I am still having trouble finding those Christmas book covers that are public domain/free to use. 😵
I download the tiffs to a folder and once collected what I need, transfer the folder to an external hard drive. Once that is done I clear them from my PC. External hard drives are so cheap these days there is no need to clog up your PC.
Susan thank you for these series of information. I made a first visit to that Library of Congress website and it is amazing. Only it will take much time.
Oh my goodness! I just found you through Roxy Creations. I just saw some Susan B Anthony pictures that I have originals of! Cool! I’m a way distant relative but very proud of this fact!♥️. Thanks!
Hi there Susan .... thank you so much for providing this information .... so just to clarify .... as long as I stay within the Public Domain "free to use and reuse" area .... there will be no copyright issues? ... on each individual photo that I've looked at ... I've scrolled down and clicked on "rights and access" and if this message appears ... "Rights Advisory: No known restrictions on publication" ... this indicates it's completely safe to use or do I still need to expand my searches on whether it is copyrighted or not?
Thank you so much for this, it is a great ride and the information is priceless. Have a wonderful weekend and can't wait for the next in the series...this truly does open up another world in the scrapbooking world to me for sure.
😊 hello Miss Susan Thank you so much for showing and sharing these sites. But I was wondering I'm having difficulties on doing this on my Android phone and was wondering if you had information on how to explore especially flickr The Commons on a mobile phone at the time you were only showing it on computer. Ty
I’m sorry it’s been a few years since I’ve been doing the digital work and I don’t use my phone for searching. Wish I could be of more help to you as with a lot of things it’s trial and error you could try looking for those search terms on UA-cam and maybe somebody else has done a video on it
Hi Susan, New Subbie here! I'm so glad I found you. I have been thinking about making some digital kits or just looking for images that I can use in my journals. Thank you so much for this information. I'm off to watch more!
So cool.... When you looked at children book covers.... Wow there it was the Wizard of Oz.... Off to hunt for that now. Do you know of any UK based ones.... I'm in the UK. Flickr is worldwide anyway but I was just wondering! Thanks so much for sharing Susan xx
I’m not familiar with much that goes into a Boho journal, but I would just type anything that you’re looking for or look at some videos of other Boho journals and see what images pop up and type those things into the search. I’m sorry I can’t be more help.
thank you Susan! I'm not sure if I'm using the right option but, when I tap "go" to download the image, it takes me to another google page and I'm not able to download it.
Thank you for making this video. You are very generous with your knowledge. I notice when I go through the Library of Congress website that a lot of collections and images say they are only available at the Library of Congress. Am I misunderstanding that? It seems odd to make so many images available for digital download but only when you are in a specific physical location. Anyway, thanks again for the great work.
Is it possible to use on Etsy, illustrations from storybooks for children on Library of congress, which are in the public domain? Do I need to do a reverse search for this?
This series has been so helpful! Do you have a video on US copyright laws as you understand them. Hard to find someone who can explain it in simpler language. Thank you to these videos.
Hi Susan, hope you are still answering questions on this page. I am wondering if, when I download a photo, does the information download with it, especially those that need credit to be given? Or do we need to write this information down before leaving the page? Thanks for all your generosity in sharing about this subject!
Thank you Susan! I have a question: I am making youtube videos about famous actors and actresses from the past. I am using pictures found in google, but I know it is not the proper way. I recently got into trouble with one of my videos. Fortunately, it got solved, but I want to prevent any further problems, but there's just impossible to find royalty-free pictures from these people. Even the more famous ones like Marilyn Monroe or Clark Gable are hard to find. Licensing from Getty is just too expensive since I need around 80 pictures for one video. I was thinking to contact libraries, but I'm not sure if they care about these kinds of things. What do you recommend?
@@SusanTaylorBrown Thank you so much for your reply! Unfortunately, this site is also very limited with pictures. I read that WikiMEDIA commons is a good source, but I'm not sure how much can I trust that?! What do you think? Or any other idea?
They say "free to use" but from what I gather we must still do the work to make sure that somewhere it is not copyrighted, is that correct? Thank you Susan!
this is very useful information for my new channel. thanks when i click some of them it tells me that in order to get access to it I need to download it from another place. whats the point in having on there lol, i dont get that
