Every time I watch, and watch again, your cooking it reminds me of my Mother-in-law. (She passed away in November of 2021) Things she couldn’t teach me and some she did. Makes me feel happy and sad all at the same time. Thank You for your recipes.
Hi Aimee - sorry it's very tedious to make but this is one of my favorites among your collection of very yummy desserts. Thank you for sharing with us your many talents. Yay! It's almost done looking so yummy!
I wondered the same thing, everything about her cooking and results are perfect. I think the ones with the thumb s are McDonald's and junck foods eater
I didnt thumb down, its a great video, but yes I have better ideas. Dont confuse these things, they are seperate. Though, if I were to thumb down it would be for using cups as measurement, thats a crappy measurement and prone to errors.
Thank you so much for sharing! I love how you're explaining things along the way too. I'm horrible at baking but after watching your videos I think I may have a chance.
What a great channel, so glad I came across it when I searched for "homemade rice noodles." And I grew up eating steamed layer cake, always packaged on a small styrofoam plate and wrapped in clingfilm. :) I will do this eventually. Thanks!
Lol, that's why the Chinese who sell this, use square or rectangular molds. You could drape a muslin cloth or brand new cotton baby napkin over the steamer before covering to avoid the condemnation from affecting the texture. The use of clingwrap around the knife is a smart one.
I learned that u had added the Arrow Root flour to the green and yellow layer mixing . I watched many videos Vietnamese about this cake and nobody used this Arrow Root flour
My husband and I made this yesterday before I saw your video! I cut it too quickly before it was cool enough coz we wanted to try it but then put in fridge for next day. Thanks for the recipe! Can you tell me what brand and size of steamer you are using please? My steamer isn't big enough for a 9 inch square or round pan. I ended up using some small disposable aluminum rectangular pan but it was also hard to fit in my current steamer. I had to keep adjusting to level the liquids.
I'm excited to try this! My Thailand visit was canceled due to the pandemic and one of the things I was really looking forward to trying was the layered cake. Thanks for sharing this!
Yeah, that actually makes a lot. I have 3 kids and it still takes us 4 days to finish it. You can just make 1/2 the recipe and use a loaf pan. I've done it before. I never made the mung bean flavor, though. I just make one batter, divide in half, put pandan extract in one bowl and vanilla extract in the second bowl with yellow food coloring.
I have made the cake and it turned out the green and yellow still hard bc I used only tapioca and rice flour but I followed directions from 2 utubers and my cake doesn’t look and taste good yet . Still learning about this cake and Experiment
Do you think I can replace the arrowroot starch with potato flakes? I don't have and other starch on hand right know. Read online for what can i use to replace arrowroot starch and it say that potato flakes is a good replacement for arrowroot starch but kinda nervous to use it as a replacement.
I'm not sure if that will work. I haven't tried it personally but I would give it a shot and see how it turns out. Maybe half the recipe to try it out. It may not firm up the cake as much.
@@CHerCreations Hi again, my cakes (I tested it with half a recipe and in smaller bowls) turned out weirdly tougher? I don't know what exactly I did wrong, but it might've been something when I did the actual steaming

Hi what is Arrowroot flour ?
What can i replace it with . Thank you
Thank you for this video!
If I use arrowroot’s on the prepackaged mix would it work or arrowroot is only used to make the mix forum scratch?
I think you can try with the prepackaged mix. It might work.
@@CHerCreations can you advise on how much to add for the prepackaged with the arrowroot?
Can we using mung bean flour
Yay!
Can you use mung bean flour instead of the mung beans?
I like to use mung beans since it gives it the flavor and texture. I'm not so sure about the flour though.
What is the purpose of using arrow roots for this recipe?
Stability
I recommend using floss to cut
Looks cool but no idea what it tastes like!
What if we can’t find Pandan leaf? Is there substitute for that?
i’m guessing u can just use more pandan extract + water. u won’t get the exact same flavour from using the pandan leaf though
Do you think I can replace the arrowroot starch with potato flakes? I don't have and other starch on hand right know. Read online for what can i use to replace arrowroot starch and it say that potato flakes is a good replacement for arrowroot starch but kinda nervous to use it as a replacement.

@@CHerCreations Thankyou for the reply back.
You can just replace it with more tapioca flour or regular plain flour. It will be just fine. I never used arrowroot flour and it peels just fine.
@@3pumpkins170 do you add the same amount of arrowroot flour for the replacement?
DFV02 Yes, I would use the same amount. Hope you have the time to make the dessert!
Great job! What could I use to replace the pandan water? I
You can buy pandan extract from the Asian grocery store.
Do you chill it in the fridge?
Yes before cutting. Serve it room temp is fine too
💚💚💚
Thanks to your Mom for the knife tip!💕💕
I don't think I'm going to make pandan water, can I just use the 1 cup of water and pandan paste/extract?
Yes
@@CHerCreations Hi again, my cakes (I tested it with half a recipe and in smaller bowls) turned out weirdly tougher? I don't know what exactly I did wrong, but it might've been something when I did the actual steaming
@@bosco8251 how long did it take you to steam?
@@CHerCreations Well I did like 4-7.
Does it matter what brand of arrow root starch? I only have the asian kind?? Lol thank you.
No it doesn’t matter
Also does it matter which tapioca starch..i only have the green budda brand..lol
It doesn’t matter what brand you use. And I would double the batch for the tin pan
Ok how much does this recipe make will that make at least 1 half foil tray..lol..thank you so much! 😊❤👍
So smarts miv Ntxhais
👍😍😍😍😍😍👍
Do you use regular rice flour or sweet (glutinous) rice flour?
Regular rice flour
If you like a stronger pandan flavour, why don't you just use more leaves for the pandan water instead of commercial extract?
How long will this pandan last, and can it be refrigerated?

What brand of coconut milk did you use?
