That carb cleaner has become an essential noise maker of happiness, every tractor's carb gets a swim. Then they work well. I should get one.
It definitely was worth the money. The ultrasonic thing is a miracle.
Looking like its going swimmingly so far lol. Just found my grandpa's old combine that he sold 10 years ago. 1974 Gleaner F. Guess I'll be seeing if that ole 292 Chevy will run here in a week or two.
Can't wait to see this lean mean green manalishi turning wheels and bringing in the harvest, thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
The tractors from back in the 30s and 40s had elegance to them.
They were definitely very concerned about styling back then
My 70 has a bracket and bowl setup like that. I had always thought it was original.
Cool! I have to look, but I don’t think either one of the other ones have that on anymore
Enjoyed the video, father ross..😉😉
🤣🤣🤣
For the love of God, will someone please buy this man a gallon of PB Blaster? Can I get a witness please?
🤣🤣🤣
But it would just be more PB blaster to run over or lose
Makes no sense, he won’t have it handy when he needs it anyway. 😂
Ross, the poor little carburetor is a big bunch of sadness 😔 thanks Michael
It definitely put up a fight🤣
Those little Zenith's like that are pretty good carbs. No accelerator pump!
I agree! No accelerator pump is always a win!
I wouldn’t worry about how others complain about the way you do things after all it’s your machine you could even paint the damn thing orange if you want it doesn’t matter! Once a guy had me replace the seals in a front wheel drive planetary and wanted to tell how to do it each step of the way finally I told that he could do the work or take the tractor back home I’m over it! He finally backed off and let me work! Some people’s kids!!!!!!
Ross, I believe that that tag on the engine was part of a up grade kit installed on the tractor back in the day. I know that it is a Continental motor made for Oliver, I've never seen them in anything but a 70. Is that a 5 gear motor? I have a HP 70 that uses the 5 gear, used it for years till the motor got real bad. Exhaust manifolds are usually in bad shape. I do love the smooth running 6, but it was a bit under powered. Mine was always hard steering, but I ran it for years on a 4 row pipe frame cultivator. I really need to rebuild mine and get it useable again, I miss it!
Ross I'm trying to figure out what tractor I've got did they make a 77
Yes they did make a 77
Yes they did
Would there be more sadness if you just dip it as a complete carb?
It would be about the same but I always think if you took it apart first maybe the fluid would get more places without air pockets? That might just be me dreaming.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
They are a pain on the MOO clamps
🤣🤣🤣
rusty video lol
Lots of rust 🤣
Watching Ross the Oliver Man is tough on my wallet. Now I need an ultrasonic cleaner AND a jump pack. Good thing I didn't buy the $500 ear muffs!
All of those would be great purchases! Plus if you had bought the earmuffs, think of how much easier it would be to go to all those yodeling competitions that Abby competes in.
@@rosstheoliverman the wife was saying keep bidding. Then they added a third digit to the price and she wasn't so supportive. 😂
I'll have take a look at my Hart Parr 70 because the sediment bowl is mounted in the same location.
Yeah, this is the location they were, but I don’t think my other one has that little bracket on it
Nice video Ross. Anything you do with these old Olivers is a treat for me. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Keith!
Rust, rust and more rust! Geeez!
Thanks for watching John!
Rust equals much sadness Ross but you can beat it
Thanks Stephen!
Sweet bud expect she be secess few part s love care
Thanks Alex!
Ross, a couple of things. I have a 70 and the sediment bowl is in the same place as yours.
A question. You went to an auction sometime after this video, and you said that you bought the White from there last year. Is this an annual sale, or multiple times a year? Where is this auction and what is its name? Thanks in advance.
I saw those clamps and thought that is going to be sadness. GARBAGE. That great big adjustable hammer came out I thought he must’ve lost the red pliers, then they appeared. 😂😂😂. Happy Easter.
The red pliers have risen just as I said they would! 🤣
Use an old speedometer or tachometer cable to run through lines etc. to make them work. They were always a required tool when you were looking for or removing obstructions in fuel or hydraulic lines. Run a 4' or so piece of that flexible cable thru a couple of feet of steel pipe, attach an electric drill to the end of the cable, insert the cable and tube into the tank while holding onto the tube and start the drill. The 2' exposed end of that cable will beat around in the tank and remove a lot of crap that can be washed out. Or plug the outlet, fill the tank with water and then cut a flap big enough to get your hand and arm in through the top of the tank so you can sand it clean. Then with the tank again full of water braze the flap back in place. The water keeps old gas fumes from having explosive quantities. Weatherhead sockets are great for those elbow line fittings.
Running those carbs through the bead blaster before cleaning gives you a head start. You youngsters having an Ultra-Sonic cleaner makes us that had the life-killing carb cleaner in the 5-gallon bucket that would have a hole eaten through the bottom and result in a loss of concrete floor surface. You ruined the suspense by posting that short of it running.
I know, I should’ve waited, but I was too excited 🤣
best cheap tool i bought for working on old tractors is them 99 cent magnet bowls from harbor fart
I probably have two dozen of those things and they’re always full 🤣
@@rosstheolivermanas long as you put the non magnetic stuff at the bottom then put the magnetic stuff over it they keep parts pretty well
Nice video Ross.
Thanks Larry!
Good video
Thanks!
Ross I will never understand why you buy the most beat to shit stuff but I probably would to if I had the extra money lol 😂
You can't even get a decent lawnmower for 500 bucks....
@@burrridgefarms no I’m a farmer who has a tractor addiction that’s why he m broke
$500 is a win. You can part it out and make your money back.
@@rosstheoliverman that’s it wow stuff like that round here sells for like a grand
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Good morning Ross! Once at an auction I got one of those package deals where I got a bunch of other stuff I didn't want. But I'm not smart enough to leave behind, because why would you do that? But one of the things was a nice clean little gas tank off of something in about a gal size. It has turned out to be a good thing to have in a situation like yours. I put some hose, a little ball valve, and an assortment of brass fittings with it. Now to try to start something, I just hook it up to the carb and bypass all of the sadness of rusty tanks, lines, and sediment bowls for a test. NICE! 😊. I'm wondering, would EvapoRust work in those cleaners instead of the magical powdet and water for a rusty carb like yours? Maybe since its Easter, it would help you with a second resurrection! That carb looks like it has had everything done to it but hanging it from a cross!! 😂😂 Have a great day Ross! I miss seeing Buddy around all the time, he must have a busy schedule of his own! 😊😊
When I worked at the shop, they had a little gallon can that they had braised a fitting in that we would use for stuff like that. I need to make one for myself that would be super handy to do things like this.
Just noticed that tractor is a six cylinder. Not as big as my 66 but has a six cylinder. Yes normally when you start a new tractor project I am afraid sadness abounds at every turn. Hopefully it will start and run without much trouble thusly redeeming itself.
Thanks!!
Happy Easter Ross . When in doubt , Red Pliers . Great video Ross , see ya tomorrow .
🤣 thanks Mark !
I liked it! See ya tomorrow! Oh yeah, happy Easter Ross!
Thanks! Happy Easter!
A 70 is one model that has never been in our family.
My family never had one either
@rosstheoliverman my grandpa started out with a 60, and when he wanted a bigger horse, he wanted live pto and hydraulics so he got a 66.
Sand blast it
I have a blast cabinet I guess I should probably break that out one of these times 🤣
