For future reference: A lot of people would want to make sure that forcing the engine to turn will not do additional damage. But since you're pulling it to turn the engine you should do it in the highest transmission gear which should be like putting it in the lowest gear because power is going from the wheels to the engine instead of vice versa.
My brother and I did the same on our 20 acres , we had big garden's with Mom , and Dad helped us bring home an Allis Chalmer's we paid for ourselves, and we had a good strong tractor. Sewed oats with a 1916 wood wheeled Van Brunt Grain drill , and the Allis Chalmers tractor. Loved that orange tractor so much ♥💪🏻🇺🇸👍🏻
Something you could use is a bore scope. Feed it into each cylinder will show you what you're up against. Being hydro locked can bend rods popping the clutch. Get yourself a wood or plastic mallet to tap the valves is also a good move. Being a smart kid you'll learn a lot along with picking up ideas. Good video.
Great to see a kid not be afraid to get dirty and have interest in learning something useful , and not be afraid to put his phone down. Having said that, I hope you got paid to take that thing off the guy's hands and not the other way around!
I wouldn't be trying to pull off a stuck engine. You could end up bending the push rods which is usually the weakest point with stuck valves. Cheers from eastern TN
They fill up the garage! I take the Oliver 70 row crop and JD H to tractor pulls. The JD B and 8N have been in parades. The Farmall M was my entry in the Chevron Tractor Restoration Competition. I hope to see how it pulls this summer. It is fun to drive them up the street occasionally. I would love to get a farm to put them to use!
It was most certainly running when parked. The broken main cap from lack of oil, sucking through the oil pump, which seized the engine is why it was parked 😢
@@thesmallenginekid thanks but the problem is that i have a Chinese tractor (lovol 254) and I can't find anywhere a repair manual just owners manual. Thanks anyway I'm gonna just search more
Yikes! That engine is pretty rough! I wouldn't be surprised if it has water sitting in it for quite some time! Problem is that even if you can clean up the crank it will likely be out of round which is not good. If you have a set of Mics you can check that though and also check to see whether or not it's within spec or not too. Out of curiosity, since you were going over the GW, do you also live on Long Island? Also just subbed btw. I'm a fellow young engine enthusiast and like seeing other people around my age getting into it! :)
Pretty poor shape. Before considering a replacement block I'd check out the trans/running gear. It may be just scrap iron and maybe a part or two. It likely would not have worked but when trying to pull the tractor to turn over an engine, always use high gear. In this case you should have put it in 6th gear when trying to break the engine free.
Wow i feel for you son that's great you're in to this stuff and you're dad teaching that's awesome quality time sometimes you eat the bear sometimes he eats you am gonna subscribe it's good to see young man into something besides video games and being woke god bless you
Growing up we had a 1940 row crop 70. We logged with it. Its torque made its low horsepower very usable. I believe around 39hp.

Continental engines were used in a lot of machines. Shouldn’t be too hard to find parts.
Wow. Beautiful tractor!
So it's been 2 years later, what happened ?
I have a new used motor to put in it. But it needs work to the axle shafts/housing so pretty much just been sitting.
@thesmallenginekid ...thank you for the update!
We had a Cockshut Standard 70. Exactly the same tractor with red and yellow as the colors instead of green and white.

It seems a lot of things that I get home I wonder why I paid for them!
Oh dang. Shocker. Just discovered your channel. Nice stuff
Dam that tractor is my age 82. good luck fixing that tractor.
Hello! What kind of red produtc do you put inside the cylinder chamber to remove the rust? Tks.
50/50 acetone/atf Some people say soda works well!
Love the video and I’m telling you man keep up with this stuff it’s gonna take you a long way
Unique tires👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅✅✅✅✅

You can pour Mystery Oil down the plug holes. I don't know what's in it, it's a mystery.
Какие вы молодцы ребята !Это адский труд.👍👍👍
hows it going
What do you do with the restorations??

Hope some kind soul will come up with a replacement engine for you Great VIDEO

Great video, thanks for doing the long form video for UA-cam, better than tiktok but doesn't get the view's unfortunately.
Where do you find all the repair and parts manuals?
The guy who I bought the tractor from had it. you can get them on eBay or from a place called 'Jensales' they sell reproduction manuals.

Are y’all still working on it or did y’all scrap it
Different engine for starters they made a lot of Oliver 70's you should find one pretty easy.

Nice! Let's Groove 🤩
Too bad about old oli She looks strong when you first started❤
What ever happened to the Oliver? I just found this site
This one is still in parts. I need to find the spacer that goes between the axle seal and axle.
so it goes or what how the cramk

Not many people realize this, but you are correct!!
Need a brake hone for it
What is the matter w/people. Give it the least resistance, place it in 5th or 6th gear.
