This one is up there for sure, also a variation of flicker strike could have been there aswell its iconic, even if flicker is in poe 2 aswell it probably wont be yhe same.
I was going to comment on the golden days of self curse headhunter where you become as big as the screen and the Occultist version survived for so long.
The build that i loved the most was old BV/Vaal Pact Berserker. The 100% leech from old Berserker with old Vaal Pact and the 50 blades out felt so good.
Kipps first Discharge build was the most legendary moments in PoE's history. It was so broken that GGG had to permantly change how a keystone passive functions due to being an unkillable screen blaster.
Very good video. If i had to poinnt out a missing one, it would be the Mjolner/Voll's Devotion/Kingsguard Discharge. Before the BIG trigger nerf (and simultaneous Mjolner nerf), Mjolner was the most expensive unique item in the game, even above HH if it was a good roll (the cast on hit was %). Immortal and crazy damage, its peak was when ascendancies entered the game and Jugg was the way to go with this build.
Akane's mana miner was absolutely insane, I guess it could fall under "indigon builds" but I think it was quite unique and distinct from any other indigon build, way more dmg and survivability than anything else at the time. Edit: also dont know if it'd be considered legendary but ED/Cont had a good run under Ziz's reign
rory's "this character is very capable of playing high level content, I wanted to demonstrate it in a rare version of a level 61 map" low life ignite proliferation fireball witch (build of the week S01E05) is pretty iconic too. mostly because it is a snapshot in time, it's what was a clever use of game mechanics build at the time, and also showcases what was considered high level play.
immortal delver during delve league with perma gluttony of elements, originally a build that used negative resistance to always outheal any phys damage taken with lightning coil, before eventually becoming a 1 hp 6 es build to be immune to chaos and played by Dan that died to Congealed Blood from Bloodlines - basically the only thing that could have killed him and it happened because we all collectively as a community forgot it existed with a phys degen. A build with 1 HP and 6 ES in hardcore reaching 1500+ depth, should explain itself I personally played this build on Pathfinder in HC as well to past 600 depth before making a mistake by letting Gluttony of Elements drop in the middle of the path, instantly dying since I had over -110% resistance and 2k life so basically anything that hit me was going to kill me
Wow, this is by far the best list of iconic builds in poe i have seen! I was playing poe sporadically since early beta, but the vaal molten shell build made me absolutely fall in love with the game back then, thank you for the dose of nostalgia. Also, bakedchicken return when?
Enki’s Arc Witch feels like a legendary build to me, not necessarily because of how OP it was but because of how many people it got into the game because of how detailed it was for new players. Everyone I know who plays, including myself, started with that build.
Small correction for the aura/herald stacker build: They stacking purposeful harbinger and endbringer, heraldry was only used if you couldn't get enough reservation, empys build as an example had zero heraldry notables.
Man, I still remember Breach league and that poison storm berserker build that was basically immortal unless you were one shot. That old berserker leech was so broken
No poet's pen zerphi's (possible indigon) build? It was broken AF. People used VD for bossing and arc + lightning warp for instant mapping. 1 button build whole screen coverage, instant regen, ridiculous damage. RIP instant zerphi flask and dual-wielding poet's pen. Imo was stronger than prime aurastacker.
Cool video! Self poison was another good one. I'm sure someone has mentioned it by now. Oh! and cast on death discharge. That one was pretty crazy. Aura stacker in Delirium was my first blaster build, I think. It was neat to see some of the older ones. I'm glad you included them.
Kripp made like 60% of the top build back then, many got nerfed, his poison bear and ground slam perma stunner all gone really quick, I remember nugi has a signature build but I just can't remember which skill
I remember one of the earlier leagues when I began playing consistently (around Breach league), HotshotGG was playing Kitava's Feast flicker strike in Hardcore. I think he hit like 94/95 before dying due to a concoction of reasons. One I think was running out of mana, which he was working on at the time. Still I hadn't really watched too many builds until then, and it was impressive enough to get me to grind poe like I hadn't before. It didn't help that I enjoy breaches a lot, they're convenient and usually not a hindrance to run.
This is a great topic for a video. My fav was reave with shaper +%phys added as ele statsticking. Going way back cybils paw RF incinerate was dumb fun too.
So many builds deserved to be here. But you've got a great selection. Flicker and RF come to mind as all time favourites for all sorts of players as well. But in the end, most "popular" builds could be mentioned one way or another. Focusing on the "weirder" builds, like wormblaster, like arakaalis fang and the likes, seems more appropriate to me as well : )
Bladefall Miner with scaling Temp Chains effect is an all timer for me. Bosses moved at like 1% speed, or sometimes just not at all. Oh! And aura stacking golems back in Heist. It was way too much tankiness and damage on not a whole lot of budget.
Ones that aren’t on here that are some of my favorites of all time: Self curse shackles, Poets pen volatile dead, double dipping ED Contagion, and for the solo delvers…..HOWA Molten Strike
I've been playing this every league for few leagues now but only as HoT in Crest of Desire autobomber, it's easily the comfiest build I've played and with addition of svaalin and thus 90/90 block it got insanely tanky. Save your wrists, play autobombers!
@ThatsMrGat I mean, flicker is within PoE though. Unless you count similar-ish spells and whatnot. But if that's the case, then half the builds fit the bill
@@novotd443 if you're an experienced poe player there's nothing remarkable about Basic-Attack-But-It-Moves-You-Around. it's cool and something that people should try and is definitely remarkable compared to other ARPGs, but within the sole context of poe, and please wrap your head around that before replying, i can't think of an "interesting" one other than red trail shenanigans which are horribly suboptimal builds and never meta among top players unlike most else shown here.
Speaking of legendary builds - definitely missing Kripp's Discharge build, that literally put this game on a radar for many arpg fans :D Other than than - awesome nostalgia trip!
Mjölnir, CoC Discharge, attribute stackers, charge stackers, CoD bosskiller, old Cyclone, self-curse Headhunter, herald autobomber, Hexblast? You have to put all of them into top 10!
I still remember the tri bv back in the day, you have a fast stacking bv then just tap the main damage bv and your damage bv will take all the stacks it was great fun
Nice video, two builds I’m thinking of that were iconic were cyclone (legion era when its aoe was absurd) and some version of discharge before it was changed.
What, no mention of CoC builds? People made builds so powerful, they had to nerf the skill, crit, power charge generation, etc. multiple times throughout the years. I remember a time when CoC didn't have a cooldown.
Cast on stun voltaxic burst (yes I’m one of the few who’s use this, much like blade vortex) and shock nova (just to apply shock). Blood magic, 2.2k+ regeneration and 1.1/2.2k life reserved(petrified blood mandatory), no es(es is stun threshold), 16k armor and 20k .7s ward (works great). I only die when immortal call is down, ward is down, I didn’t block, I’m taking huge dots/casting my 5 skills all at once(near my ~10 casts per ability per second limit) and/or I’m just straight up taking more damage than I can take and get one shot (likely because my ward is down).
My best build ever was a strength stacking KB wander in Affliction. Insta-clearing entire screens on enemies was incredible. Hoping there are some wand attack builds in PoE2.
most iconic build to me is lowlife spectral throw from the first few leagues. imo its the first build that things started going out of control in poe. with instant leech from vinktar, that thing was tanky with the best clear/dmg and speed in the entire game.

General's Cry Blade Flurry pre nerf was my fav of all time, may not be legendary but it sure was good. That and Carrion golem. Arc was the first build I ever played and then strength stacking Zombies, man to think there was a time that zombies were good lol.

Aura stacker is the best cuz you could get it going with fairly cheap budget, and could scale it a lot investing all your currency into it with very good incremental gains in defense and damage.

Mathil's fakener and ele buzzsaw, Zizaran's poison firestorm (and all the consuming dark conversion poison builds), palstron's explosive arrow totem, Lance's hexblast mines and lowlife RF (minmaxing part of it), Ghazzy for everything minion, pohx and his fire dots, and there is a guy called ruetoo who made so many. I would have at least thrown Righteous Fire a bone as the quintessential shit build. An icon of how builds can be brute forced into viability through sheer man hours and investment. That and as a testament to just how awful of a build players will play just to avoid clicking a button. A huge source of inspiration.
Ground Slam - Call of Steel is honestly my favorite build of all time. Big setup for a chunky hit, turn your back, put your sunglasses on, press the button, and everything shreds into pieces. Cool guys don't look at explosions. Was so satisfying to one shot even Drox.

Crazy to think they were all made by captain lance
OmegaLul
I think the matrix is broken then since these builds aren't running Coruscating and Balbala.
I would pin this if I could
CuteDog_ copied all of them :(
LMAO
You missed the legendary self curser with shackles of the wretched, solstice vigil and kaoms roots.
yeah tbh this should've been on my list, I had like 30 builds written down so hard to choose just 10
yes this takes #1 legendary spot in softcore no doubt
This one is up there for sure, also a variation of flicker strike could have been there aswell its iconic, even if flicker is in poe 2 aswell it probably wont be yhe same.
I was going to comment on the golden days of self curse headhunter where you become as big as the screen and the Occultist version survived for so long.
Oldschool Discharge with Voll's Protector
Kripparrian has some videos on it
without that build, there's no top 10 LOL
"fakener" build, at its inception "mjolner" builds were so expensive voll's version was created by mathil as a "fake mjolner"
I came to say this I feel like that build was the precursor to all of PoE's blaster builds
Shadow coc discharge volls.
Was so broken that they were forced to forever change the keystone Vaal Pact.
Pre nerf Winter Orb was the GOAT. I miss that build
Not sure if this was the GOAT but I also wondered if it would make it to the list.
@@demystakeit is the goat. Also ed contagion
Whole screen Cyclone in Legion has to be one of the most played builds of all time, like 30% of the player base was doing it
The build that i loved the most was old BV/Vaal Pact Berserker. The 100% leech from old Berserker with old Vaal Pact and the 50 blades out felt so good.
Some more that come to mind for me: Scold’s Breath CWDT, Indigon Poet VD with Zerphi’s, Poison Bladefall/Ice Trapper, Cospri Ice Nova, Glacial Cascade Miner, Fire Explode BV, Vaal RF ignite, Legion Cyclone Slayer, Self Curse HH, Pre-nerf Winter Orb, Mjolner Discharge, CoC Discharge, Poet’s Pen Arc Warp, Tri-herald BV, EQ Jugg
who's league starting menstrual blast in poe2?
me
There's even a whole ascendency for it!
The theorycrafting says that the build's only good 1 week out of every 4 though
no flicker strike on the list? thats crazy. Love to see the old iconic builds tho, nostalgia kicks in.
Adding a simple clip of someone doing Delve and flickering into darkness would have been so good.

I'd love to see this become a series, just reminiscing over past builds and such
discharge mjolner build is the most memorable for me
trueeeeeee
Damn rainbow nuke mjolner was the build for a while
nothing quite like it
love it. what comes to my mind as another old but gold build type was self curse temp chains with HH for knee POV
Akane's mana miner was absolutely insane, I guess it could fall under "indigon builds" but I think it was quite unique and distinct from any other indigon build, way more dmg and survivability than anything else at the time.

Two builds that should be in this list are blender and spork. Both builds were most likely best build you could play back then.
After I was discharged from the military and returned to Poe, there was 5 herald. So, I still can't forget 5 herald aurastacker
This is a great video. Would love pt2
I always admired people coming up with these builds. Good job.
Hello :D ! You miss the legendary Sunder build for leveling every melee character with 1 scepter for good atk speed and damage boost ! Nostalgy
that was almost put in
vaal molten shell being in here gave me insane nostalgia, amazing list
great video, the vms nostalgia hit different
There was more to ele buzzsaw for me, snapshotting auras and crown of eyes worked with more spelldamage from pain attunement
Man, I still remember Breach league and that poison storm berserker build that was basically immortal unless you were one shot. That old berserker leech was so broken
When I think of Scold's Bridle, I think of Pathfinder Cast on Last Breath. RIP Zerphi's flask, you were too OP for this corrupted world.
Remember during perandus league when #2 snd 3 were combined in one build with the voltaxic rift?
The dmg was outrageous.
No poet's pen zerphi's (possible indigon) build? It was broken AF. People used VD for bossing and arc + lightning warp for instant mapping. 1 button build whole screen coverage, instant regen, ridiculous damage.

OG Mjolner and Shatterchuck both deserve to be mentioned, and you have to talk about the original meta build: flameblast ignite.
Played a HoA Mjölner Guardian build which slapped hard in Delve League. Played the League the most thanks to that nasty build.
I really enjoyed this, thanks for putting it together.
one build that I loved was triple herald elementalist with inpulsa

That shit is downright iconic and an absolute must have to play
there are legendary builds in the context of all videogames, like flicker.

General's Cry Blade Flurry pre nerf was my fav of all time, may not be legendary but it sure was good. That and Carrion golem. Arc was the first build I ever played and then strength stacking Zombies, man to think there was a time that zombies were good lol.
i hoped you'd also showcase screen-sized cyclones and recent OP beast being "anything trickster"
I almost put legion cyclone
Self Chill, Self Poison, Herald Stacker. My favorites.
Any build that make cleaning maps much faster - even from modern perspective it would be considerend decent speed...

"Menstrual Blast"

Well now you MUST make a sequel since you didn't include self curse headhunter, the number 1 all time meme build xD
My favorite was the broken explody totem builds from crucible that one shotted all ubers while being really tanky!
Real ones know Jddogg created VMS in 1.3, also rainbownuke and shatterchuck are my shoutouts for legendary builds
Fakener or CoC Discharge when all we had was the volls chest and amulet along with a vagan dagger. Before they had to add a cooldown to discharge lol.
The one that's weird is RaizQT, he was such a great build maker and a mellow dude, for whatever reason decide to act bitter later in his stream cursing and yelling all the time, just weird.

Mjolner / Fakener. CWC poison animate weapon. RF incinerate. EK arctic armour mana stacker. Batman wander. Reverse knockback MFer. Bino's poison bear trap. HH Cyclone legion farmer. ED contagion Spellslinger. Herald autobomber
