What you need is a supportive studio, who picks someone who is talented and a hard worker, but also has individuals who care about the property and know when to get involved. This is the case with both Star Wars and Marvel.

I think one lesson we should take away from this is that the prevailing studio attitude of "audiences don't like _____" is pure bullshit. Audiences, for the most part, like a good movie. Action, comedy, emotional, whatever. If it's well-written and directed, people will enjoy it. Look at something like Game of Thrones. The early seasons were filled with small scenes between two parties discussing minute details like where to send troops, forming alliances and whatnot. It got into the nitty gritty of all the choices that characters would have to combat with. As a pitch, it sounds pretty boring. It's easy for the audience to get confused or bored and just tune out. But it was well-written, directed and acted. Whereas Season 8 just feels like a shell of the show's former self. All that attention to detail is thrown out and instead we just get the action beats without any of the political intrigue that the series gave us. Game of Thrones took the manta of "audiences don't like _____" and said "We'll write this shit so incredibly well and engaging that audiences will like it!" and look at how successful it became.

That and the fact that if they had saved DoFP for the third film, wouldn't that mean Vaughn would've stayed for the whole trilogy? There's no guarantee it would have turned out as good as it did, especially with how Kingsman 2 turned out. Vaughn has yet to prove that he can handle sequels properly so, in a way, I'm glad he didn't direct it. Dark Phoenix is actually a pretty fun movie. The villian is weak for sure (no depth at all. But how do you compete with Thanos who got his OWN movie). I believe it was the trailers portraying the movie as an all action movie that caused it to bomb....that and they had to reshoot the entire 3rd act of the movie because of Captain Marvel (if you seen DP you'll know why)
Are X-Men Origins Wolverine and The Last Stand still canon with the amount of retcons to the first and how so much of the second was rewritten by Days of Future Past?
No, there aren’t. There’s only one that got split in two, which was First Class that, if ignoring Days of Future Past, follows the old canon, from X-Men to The Wolverine. All the others are from the Days of Future Past timeline, which was the new canon, from DoFP to Logan (yes, Logan is part of the main timeline).
Hm, You seem to suggest that Apocalypse was Vaughn's idea, too. From what I read, he was only saying that it would have been better to have _any_ movie that spent more time with the younger X-Men would have been better to place before Days of Future Past.

Days of Future Past is straight up the best, I’m glad we were able to get that gem.
Would’ve probs made more sense to do apocalypse first but then you’d have to juggle even more characters
Edit: to add to this, I don't think it was ever confirmed Apocalypse was intended to be the second film originally so it sounds like goat boy got his facts twisted. Hell, Apocalypse should have never been a villain for this universe in the first place.
If they had waited a bit longer before doing days of future past, I would have cared about the younger versions of the characters
Cuz despite how great First Class was I still felt like I need to get to know the younger versions of the characters better cuz I wasn’t that attached to them as I was with the versions we already knew
I wish they would do a Magneto film keeping Fassbender on. His casting was perfect and he's one of the best parts of the entire franchise.
Some say Dark Phoenix should have been a failed X-men movie
I think what we learned from these movies is that the mutant gene was really the friends we made along the way
Idk why but I obeyed my order of hitting the like button as soon as you told me to.
wtf
Johnny Perozo me too 🤷♂️
I wish I understood why calls to action like that are actually effective
That scene with Wolverine stroking the picture of Mason. Pure. Gold.
Creative control is a movie corporations worst fear even though it has been somewhat proven to bring them the most money 😬
I'm hoping the MCU will do Onslaught. Would be the perfect way to have people see Mutants as a threat and want them dead
The director of xmen origins came to my school to give the class a talk on making movies. He just complained about fox for an hour, and by the end, it was clear about 30 people directed the film
Gavin Hood?
Yup, I went to the Brit school, the school like Tom Holland and Adele went to, so we often had famous people popping in
you're the best Mr. 'James' Sunday... feels like too since long you have dropped a solo editorial. i shall call this Solo
As sad as it was with some x-men movies not doing well, there were master pieces of superhero films; in X-Men 1,2 Days of future past, and Logan. Those movies are better than half of Marvel’s best movies.
I disagree. The best X-Men movies are as good as a middling MCU movie.
The MCU have solider films, those X-Men films are good but Marvel have done better movies that actually have relatively consistent continuity
I like the X-men movies, X2 is probably my favorite, but god damn the MCU gave us The Winter Soldier which is one my all time favorite movies ever
Maybe FC, DoFP and Logan.
1:12 "I will never play another comic book hero ever again."
Jon Bernthal and Tom Hardy would both be amazing Wolverines
Commander1SUV
After Venom, I have my doubts about Tom Hardy now.
@@radrno7 Tom Hardy is an amazing actor, it's the venom movie that's kinda bad, Tom Hardy's acting was pretty decent one of the best bit of the movie imo, go watch peaky blinders or mad Max or another movie with Tom Hardy in and you'll see he's AMAZING
I genuinely look forward to yur videos Mr Sunday! Great work again as usual
Lol love how my mate dropping some beers went viral and shows up in the video 😂😂
4:00 is he back on Trank?
It always makes my day when you upload james
I liked both versions of the Daredevil movie. I can't stand the playa hating backlash that project(s) received.
That's because Ben Affleck suck that's Daredevil but he was a good Matt Murdock
Congrats on 1 million bro.
Are X-Men Origins Wolverine and The Last Stand still canon with the amount of retcons to the first and how so much of the second was rewritten by Days of Future Past?
Days of Future Past created it's own timeline in which the "original trilogy" and at least the first two Wolverine movies are erased.
There are three X-Men timelines now, choose the one you like.
There are 3 separate X-Men timelines I think.
10:25 Is it just me or was the Skrulls being good in the MCU a shock to anyone else?
Liked the video because I didn't wanna start my day feeling like a big old phony.
Congrats on getting 1 million subscribers, guys!
I love the Ben Affleck daredevil movie the show is better but I still love the Ben Affleck daredevil movie
spider-man Same, I love how corny it is with some actual good ideas in it
a crossover between my two favorite podcasts, fatman on batman and weekly planet, whaaaaaat? lol
Is New Mutants still happening?
Hm, You seem to suggest that Apocalypse was Vaughn's idea, too. From what I read, he was only saying that it would have been better to have _any_ movie that spent more time with the younger X-Men would have been better to place before Days of Future Past.
He plays fast and loose with the facts in favor of the entertainment value of the vids, unfortunately.
