What I got from this video: EVERYONE on set had some beef with Tobey Miguire. (Not sure why.) R.I.P. Willem Defoe's balls. (YOU KNOW HOW MUCH HE SACRIFICED?!) & J.K. Simmons is best man. (Honestly I knew this one already.)
I read an article on a geek website, that was about Tobey Miguire's behavior during filming on Spider-Man 1. He was demanding and mean to the extras and production assistants, and cast too(as you stated EVERYONE) It's too bad he's a jerk when playing emotionally vulnerable man boys.
I just rewatched this in anticipation for No Way Home, and it still holds up very well in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed it as not just a Spiderman movie.. but a movie in general.
I saw this in theatres when I was 5 and this movie was my first introduction to Spider-man (who from that point became my favourite superhero and got me OBSESSED with him) so it will always hold a special place in my heart and is still one of my favourite movies to this day. Clearly this movie is dated in regards to quite a few things nowadays such as cgi and costumes but overall I still think this movie holds up 17 years later. It even does some things better than superhero movies nowadays, one of those being action. In this movie you can clearly see Peter Parker struggle physically in fights, get injured, and the action scenes are just so tense in this film and the sequel (as Stuckmann said when he reviewed it, ‘you can feel the sweat’). Whereas in Homecoming (which I really like) the action is basically just cgi and not as tense. As you legends mentioned, this film is a very pure comic to film adaptation and to me is a great origin story for this character. There is so much I love about this movie, the cast, the emotional journey Peter takes, the action, and just Spider-man in general. This was a warm welcome to the character for me and even though Tom Holland nails it nowadays, Tobey Maguire and his performance helped shape me into the person I am today. I fucking love this movie!! 🤟🏼🕸
Daniel Son I actually loved Spider-verse. Prior to seeing it I wasn’t that interested in Miles Morales as a character (I’m a Peter Parker purist lol). But at the end of it I really liked Miles and glad he got the spotlight. But yeah I loved it, probably one of my fave Spider-man films. Great story, characters and animation was insane. Was worried it wouldn’t work but they smashed it.
@@alphawolf1183 Yeah I felt the same. But I knew it would be good as soon as I heard Phil Lord and Chris Miller were working on it. And after I saw the first trailer I figured it would be impossible for this too be bad.
Glad the Raimi films are getting some positive support :) They're well-made and generally show off a more comic-accurate version of Spidey than the MCU version
If we're talking about outrageous background characters I can't wait for you guys to talk about the woman that loses her freaking mind during the award ceremony in 3.
Nah in the comics he didn’t really have friends in high school, that panel you showed was wrong. Flash bullied him, Liz kind of pitied him and he didn’t meet Harry, Gwen and MJ until college and wasn’t friends with Flash until college
Rami's trilogy is so inaccurate to the comics. People think they know Spider-Man because they obtained their knowledge from this trilogy. Lmfao. The Amazing Spider-Man is more accurate to the source material.
@@noobbotgaming2173 "Inaccurate to the source material" is just a throwaway phrase dumb people use to shit on any older version of a comic book property because they want to validate their love of the new one. Hopefully we'll eventually get to the point where these characters are like James Bond and nerds will be able to have their own favourite without shitting on other's.
ReportThemAll In some cases yes. But in spirit it is still the closest to Steve Ditkos original vision. It got the character mostly right, his suit is still the best looking to this day and it mostly nails the supporting cast - which are as important as Spider-Man himself. Just because you have the webshooters and the quips (which isn’t that big of a deal if you read the original run, he says some insults to distracts his enemies and even himself but not trying to be a stand-up comedian like Garfield) doesn’t mean it will be accurate - just look at the MCU, it’s a horrible depiction of Spider-Man. His age is correct and he made his webshooters... but that’s it. In terms of characterization it’s way off (has friends, faces no real trouble, no reprocussions, no stakes, gets help all the time, too much tech) and his supporting cast is not even close to accurate. Hot May? Nerd Flash? Tony Stark Step-Dad? Jesus. Raimis movies are not perfect, but they are still the best live-action Spidey flicks.
It may be a better adaption, but is a less comicbook movie than the original trilogy. And that's not necessarily a good or bad thing, it's just a different approach.
ReportThemAll yeah but atleast rami made a competent movie amazing was just awful because the director was awful and the writing was just as bad. Rami Spider-Man was a good movie and was enjoyable to watch even Spider-Man 3

R.I.P. Willem Defoe's balls. (YOU KNOW HOW MUCH HE SACRIFICED?!)

This movie is a caravan of gold you fools
I'm curious how do you feel about Into The Spiderverse? If you saw it
Daniel Son I actually loved Spider-verse.
Straight facts
Love the Raimi films with all my heart, but the Tom Jolland movies honestly feel much more true to the character
the goblin bomb turning all those people into skeletons is one of my favorite movie moments of all time, it’s so funny every time

ReportThemAll and amazing was just shit though
Amazing Spiderman sucked. Tell me how he was even remotely relatable.
"This movie is one of the purest translations of comicbook to movie"
I always said this about these movies, for good or ill (mostly good).
You might want to read spider-man ultimate.
It isn't. The Amazing Spider-Man is more comic accurate. People are far too nostalgic.
It may be a better adaption, but is a less comicbook movie than the original trilogy. And that's not necessarily a good or bad thing, it's just a different approach.
ReportThemAll yeah but atleast rami made a competent movie amazing was just awful because the director was awful and the writing was just as bad. Rami Spider-Man was a good movie and was enjoyable to watch even Spider-Man 3
12:33 I swear James' version of the responsibility speech cracks me up so much every time
17:10 as a wrestling fan, well that's just wrong. This movie came out in 2002, was filmed even prior to that and at that time Wrestling was at his peak of popularity. I mean Wrestlemania 17 was in 2001, the best ever and main evented by the Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
Yeah exactly, wrestling was super popular at the time sfbhsdb

@@raidenstark315 first of all, i didn't mentioned Tom Holland, and even Tobey looked like a teen too in some scenes, and in the movie he was at the last year of school, unlike Tom he is at his first year in high school in Homecoming, and he is in far from home at second year of high school, and for Tobey he is looking fine for a graduated student in the first one, then in the 2nd and 3rd he is looking fine like someone is at his early to mid 20s.

Covering Willem Dafoe’s face in this is just as bad as covering Ryan Reynolds mouth in Xmen origins.
Willem Dafoe has literally the best face. 😂😂
But he's the Green Goblin. They couldn't not give him a mask.
Byron Senior see your point. But I guarantee that Willem Dafoe only needed makeup. No mask necessary.
He already has a goblin face, like if you need to do a mask you could just make a thin mask that conforms more to his face. But having him wear a motorcycle helmet essentially is just baffling.
Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and Jameson were spot on casting choices and I’m convinced they can never be repeated
