Yup, some are like men too, boast a big capacity but often underpowered, can be very thirsty and have a very poor range...often dressed out in shell suit colours and when things go bad they hide in the garage 👍😇
A modern version of the 1940s Indian4. I ride a 600cc sportbike on Saturdays, and a 600cc cruiser on Sundays. It is nice to go from feet back to feet forward. If the battery fails for 1, I ride the other one until I get around to buying a new one and installing it. The main problems with the Rocket 3 are the cost to buy, the faster wear for the back tire from the weight and torque, and the insurance costs. To me, one side of the engine looks a lot better.
Top of the morning to you Andy! Just home from work here in Oregon. Don't have the dream job you do. Love your channel and all the great information on bikes, gear, touring, maintenance, etc. I do tell everyone I know about you and what you have to offer. Thank you! Cheers!

Well it took me ages to even have any (because I thought the same!!) but I got so many requests for it kind of felt I should - so it definitely meets a need...
I think it's supply and demand. If no-one wants them, he won't sell any. I can't see the problem tbh. I don't understand why people buy stuff with the name of any major fashion brand on for three times the price of a normal item, but there you go......
@@andysatch9150 ... exactly... people are happy to pay to be billboards for all sorts of brands. At least wearing TMF gear is like advertising membership to an exclusive motorcycle-centric club.

I'm glad you mentioned the sensitive eyes part at the end. I have the same issue and wear sunnies all year round. I often get weird looks although that's maybe just me and my current Covid hairdo, aka birds nest. Thanks again for the video.
You're right when you say you're going to catch some flack for the open face helmet. I've personally seen the result of an open face helmet and a slide along the floor. I've also experienced an accident where I landed on my face. I'd much rather the scratched up helmet than the missing lower jaw. But it's up to you if you want to look cool ;) I'd love to feel the torque of that machine, looks like it'd pull your shoulders out
After😷do try northumberland even when bike busy day most roads including coast road are quiet and of course lower Scottish border almost deserted. ...best of health from dave
I see the same comments about this being expensive.. have you people shopped Harley or Indian lately???? This is hardly expensive... its in the range.. especially for as much bike as it is
Thoroughly enjoy your channel since this lockdown i'm currently on my 2 week summer holiday from work! and as a consequence i'm climbing the walls as all the plans I had off riding my bikes too different places over this fortnight have been shot down, so ive been watching your vids off the west coast off Scotland , wales , and the fantastic artic circle ride which has been appeasing my itchy throttle hand for a while. As a matter off interest I ride a Triumph Thunderbird Commander and a Kawasaki 1700 voyager and i've bought a 2018 Enfield 500 from the Bike Den in Watford which you've featured on your vids that's due too be delivered once this lockdown has ended. so thanks for the vids they're keeping me sane ! ride safe!
Yes I think it’s defo something I should look into when we get back to riding again - just for those slow lazy rides taking in the scenery on my Triumph or Royal Enfield....
@@andysatch9150 Having went face-first into a car roof when he shot out in front of me, I agree. If I wasn't wearing a full-face helmet I would have been in serious trouble. As it was, burst lip, and bent forks.
Another very good long term review. When ive been serious about buying new, Triumph do let you have the model over the weekend or overnight at least, still does not compare to the time you get though so thanks. The only thing i would say though is a lot of us only have one bike, I myself have the 'old' Rocket3 and make it do what I want for the circumstances. Panniers for touring, backrest for the missus, single seat for posing. Small tank bag for commuting, as you said you would if you bought the new one.
Good to hear that you can make it into a do it all bike Clive, as you say, if you really love it you can make any bike be an all rounder...thanks for watching!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Great stuff. Meanwhile, I have been giving plenty of thought to your situation regarding going out to do a review. Assuming your main income is derived from 'Missenden Flyer' I honestly feel you have every right to continue exactly 'as you were' so to speak. It's not as though you can work from home is it?
Well I have thought of that angle too - this is effectively my "job" now in that I do it full time and rely on the income but i think I would come in for so much flack if i did I daren't go there unless lock-down rules are loosened a little...luckily I have enough content "in the can" and planned that doesn't require me to ride that I can keep posting two videos a week until at least September, so no immediate issue (by then it may be more socially acceptable to ride a bike...) In the meantime I've heard bikes being thrashed down the local bypass all day!!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer As you know I am a train driver. I am on the understanding (through internal information) that the railways are being asked by the government to implement a considerable increase in the number of trains running from May the 18th, so perhaps some 'loosening' in the pipeline. Alternatively, if it does drag on, you could A)Seek guidance from the local police, and B) Assuming that goes well, put it to a poll of your viewers via a 'live chat' with the inclusion of the positive police advice. As for the bikes tearing around? Yes, I have noticed them too on my way from Warwickshire to Derbyshire each shift. Speed limits seem to have been removed it appears too (not that my NC750 can take advantage lol).... Just an afterthought....if it does continue for a considerable time, how about something along the lines of the 'Bodmin Bikers' and doing reviews that way?
Quick question, around the 3:06 marker it looked like you were doing four finger braking. Is that just your style or does it need that to slow it down? I only use one or two but I have a sports bike so am genuinely curious. Cheers for the vid 👍🏻
Chris H I’m a two-fingered braker too and had no probs with the rocket. Similar braking setup to their other bikes like the tiger 900, street triple RS, so obviously doesn’t feel as sharp as those with all the extra weight. But they’re still good brakes
Nice to see there’s some of us about! Apparently most people use 4 but using two, you tend to ‘feel’ the brakes rather than grab ‘em. I keep two fingers on the clutch as well but that goes back to my air-cooled, two-stroke, road-racing days. 👍
Love the bike and the gear but open face helmets just make me shudder with the thought of an accident... I know it's personal choice and I would never advocate forcing people to wear anything above the legal requirements but even in a mild diesel related roundabout spill as my wife had the helmet still took a fair battering to the visor
Everybody will have an opinion on this, and this is only mine but; I had an accident years ago, car pulled out and I went over the back of it. If I’d had an open faced helmet the bottom half of my face wouldn’t look quite so good. Just something to think about is all..
Nice summary and interesting vlog. I enjoy vlogs! Totally agree about our congested roads down here. Early morning weekends are great though and you must try the roads around the villages north west of Aylesbury. Cuddington, Chearsley, Brill, Ashenden etc. Nice scenery and roads.
The rocket is a lovely, impractical one trick poney. Definitely couldn't have it as my only bike but for a 50 mile blast to Matlock Bath on a sunny day, I can see its appeal. I had to wrestle the TV remote from Carol's hand as she attempted to switch you off when you did the mid cut merchandise break!
Great vid again TMF , agree with all you have said, loving my TFC Rocket, the quick shifter is like butter even with only 380 miles still on the clock. As regards open face lids, check out the new Shoei's with built in flip down visor. Once again, thanks for the vids, hopefully you have a few more in the can before it all kicked off. Keep safe.
Hi ya always great videos and always a pleasure to watch them. Been watching your reviews for so long that it was you that got me back into biking. Thanks and stay safe.
"Nothing about this bike is difficult..." Affording one is quite difficult., for most of us.. not that I would want one, I'd much rather have a diavel (not the X) Also... there are plenty of retro full faced helmets out there made by reputable brands including Shoei (the glamster)
I am on the fence on selling my Bonnieville T120 which I love on a Rocket 3Gt, for more 2 up riding, really not sure if I should for some reason I feel the Rocket 3gt will be a bike you might get sick of after a while. I have had cruisers in the past which I miss, but saying again I do love the smoothness of the T120 but sometimes it does feel a bit small, any advice
Compared to the Speed Twin, the Rocket has got an extra 65% bhp, around 100% more torque, but then it also has an extra 50% mass. I guess the Rocket's quicker, I'm interested by what margin ?
Hi, Northumberland is beautiful, great roads, friendly people and amazing coastline. But keep it quiet, don’t tell everyone 👍🏻 kettle will be on if you head up this way 👍🏻
Captain Average absolutely I just like the Idea of a lower lighter more compact machine still some triple torque and possibly using existing cylinder head barrels cams injection from the new 900 tiger and an inline transmission with shaft drive ...
There are a lot of good back roads around Staffordshire, if you know where to go eg the B 5405 Stafoord to Sighford then back along the A 5013 to Stafford or Norton Canes to Milford along the A 460 the A51 and the A 513 then up into Brocton Village and Cannock Chase.
The Diavel and the Rocket 3 are more muscle bike than cruiser. Harley Davidson, Indian motorcycles are real cruisers. Would like to see you test ride these machines, they may yet surprise you. Cheers keep up the good work.
Great end video for your time with the big Triumph! At some point after "you know what" I will get myself a test ride on one of these beasties, will it give me the same grin factor as my stage 2 Harley Fat Bob 114? Yes quicker but what about the grin...??? My other concern for the Triumph is that build/finish you pointed out in the last vid, for me when one spends a huge sum on a "toy" it needs to stay looking good and feel super premium. Cheers... FT

Always enjoy your running commentary TMF, whilst cruising many roads I’ve never seen, past some fabulous urban & rural locations. On another note, managed to take my GS out twice yesterday. It certainly reminded me of why I love riding the beast. Thanks again. 👍🏍😷🇦🇺
Totally agree with you about dressing for the situation. If I,m on an ADV bike then I want to look rugged and adventurous. If I,m on my retro bike then I want to look like the rockers in Quadrophinia .
Arai Concept-X and Shoei Glamster are new full face retro styled lids for 2020. Might be worth a look for retro styling but still full face protection.
Not a cruiser guy either, only cruiser ridden was the standard Diavel for an hours test ride which I enjoyed. As you say hats off for Triumph for making the Rocket. My Triumph street triple arrived Tuesday so desperate to ride her but will have to wait lol. Cheers TMF
I started watching this with the subtitles on while going through my subscription area. The subtitles claim you started off by saying "morning kids it's Mr fry here" tickled me a little ^^. Always good to see one of your videos on my subscription list.
I would like to suggest when this Covid-19 is out of the way that you could perhaps try a Harley Fat Bob for size, it's a performance cruiser in purely Harley terms. I my self have a Street Bob and have been surprised how good it is engine and chassis wise the M8 engine is a real peach. Just a thought?
Thanks for posting. In terms of looks, I can't make up my mind about it. Maybe an instance where pics don't do it justice. Will have to wait and see it in person.
Nice vlog .It looks like quite a pleasant part of the country that you were riding in . Good on Triumph for producing a bike like the Rocket . Who knows ,you may become a Triumph ambassador in the future with the Rocket your gift from them !
Hey TMF, i enjoyed the vlog/s as always. i am on the verge of getting one of these beauties. what can you say about the heat, exhaust or engine, during stops or urban traffic? i am in a place where summers, the only time id be using this bike, are a constant 40degC. id appreciate your comments on this.
Hey TMF! Did you try the Indian Scout? Friends of mine who love cruisers can't stop raving about it. Give it a go. Even Benelli have made a Diavel lookalike using the Leoncino engine which is great value for money. Try them both now you're Rocket-free?
I would love to buy a cruiser but there is so much more choice out there. I just don't know what I want anymore. Because I like the idea of going off road and being adventurous, at the same time I want that super sport feel
TMF, really love your vids, but I think you should be encouraging folks to buy gear from their local bricks and mortar bike shop, not some faceless website who doesn't give a toss about you or your custom. Support your local bike shop folks, or you won't have one in a few years..
It's a difficult one...in my experience local shops rarely carry stock levels or a range, but sometimes provide good service. I've found Sportsbikeshop to provide excellent friendly service without fail. I tend to try and buy local where possible but it takes an effort!
@@simonstokes2672 Indeed! Motolegends will even go below the advertised price which they have done for me on a number of occasions (not local for me unfortunately - I have to visit my daughter as an excuse). The internet retailers normally allow the right to return as well.
Very cool. Can’t help thinking it’s going to be one of those “very good” bikes that not many people buy. Sometimes things seem more than the sum of their parts, I test rode a Harley Low Rider S (the old one), it was expensive, low tech, agricultural, no lights, no brakes, ran out of puff at 5000 rpm, but made me come over all “Sons of Anarchy” and left me grinning like an idiot. Did I buy it ?..... Nope. Too limited.. Too expensive and I think the old school charm might wear thin.
Thanks for another great video to help pass another day of inactivity. Beautiful day here and I am longing to get out on my bike for a few hours. Unfortunately it's not going to happen for a while but at least I have got a shopping trip to do, to so I'll get about 15 miles round trip on it to the local supermarket. Unfortunately that'll be my only ride this week! As far as the bike is concerned, in think if I was in the market for a cruiser, it would be a Speedmaster and £8k in my pocket rather than this. On the subject of open helmets, I use a Shoei J cruise, which is comfortable, quiet and I highly recommend it.
Just watched your three Rocket videos back to back, again ! Lol Test rode the Gt today, I got the first Rocket new in 2004 then another in about 2014 , but, this new engine is so strong ! Big thanks to Total Triumph in Wellington near Taunton. Had a talk and decided that the R would be better for me with the GT handlebars and the quick shifter. Also had a ride on the GT Tiger Pro which is also very nice so will have a think to decide 🧐 Gra and Sandy, North Devon, ps, still some of the best biking roads !, but don’t tell everyone
another good Vid That's exactly what I did to my TFC = rear back rest - Heated grips - front screen - connectivity unit = but still trying to work that out Did you get a chance to watch my Video with the my rocket TFC in the 20 to 50k corners Say I was doing around 45+in the 20k corners and 110+ in the 50k corners and she handled well Not sure if LOWER TYRE PRESSURE'S with the weight of the bike would help handling??? any idea's / anyone i'm not used to heavier bike mainly ridden sports bike where lower tyre pressure helps talk soon
it seems like you prefer this to the diavel you wrode. it would be interesting to see if your opinion would change if the diavel had midset pegs and the rocket was the gt version with forward pegs. love watching your videos tmf.
TMF. Traded in my 22 speed twin for the Rocket 3gt. Now i do miss the twin. But goddamn there is nothing like this bike out there. A gentle beast that is pure joy to ride.
Aim for outside of curve, look where you wanna go, countersteer it until you're on your line, lean it, open up throttle! My cobras are worn down, and my footpegs soon need replacing, but this isnt a motorcycle you should manhandle., It carves it's weight through very well. Even on very tight passes, it's a joy to ride, and I could almost bet, I'd beat times with the Rocket as compared to my old Speed Triple (2001) and the 2021 R1 that I've sold to have the Rocket 3 R! Whenever I dont commute to work, I'm picking the Rocket over the old speed triple. And even when commuting to work on not so busy roads.. I'm taking the Rocket. Lane-filtering is difficult with it, because it's kinda wide, and long, and heavy, and I dont wanna bang side-mirrors with it. But it's doable. Once it's moving, sometimes I forget I'm on a 320kg motorcycle, and just assume it's a bicycle. It's such a unique motorcycle in so many ways, if you have the opportunity to test-ride one, I promise you that you will never forget it, and it'll keep nagging on you until you actually buy and OWN one! In this time and age, this is a motorcycle that most likely, will never be built again. I'm gonna die with my 2001 Speed Triple, and I will die with my 2021 Rocket 3 R!
I was lucky enough to have the Rocket 3 R for the afternoon a couple of weeks before the lockdown, what a great bike, IMO Triumph have got it just right with the slightly sporty stance, the last time I rode a cruiser was last summer when my pal lent me his new H-D Fatboy, to me it felt like an implement of torture with its feet forward position, meaning your spine soaks up every bump and pothole, the polar opposite of the Rocket which I found really comfortable and forgiving, Nice one Triumph!
TMF. Just noticed In the MCN this weeks edition, bikes for sale, is a street triple R in bucks. Looks like yours, wouldn't of thought they'd be too many in bucks with the same, black with gold wheels? Stay safe 👍.
A fair summary, strikes me as a bike to hire for a long weekend trip. Not one to own unless you really do have cash to spare. Rear facing camera seems pretty dark throughout, maybe an aperture tweak next time? Keep up the quality Andy, stay safe!
I love my Raider and there is only a handful of bikes that I would consider an "upgrade" that I actually like the look of, and have been looking at this bike. That price tag though is too high for me at the moment.
PS Stop apologising for what you are wearing / not wearing. Wear what you want, Ride what you want and sod everyone else's opinion, if your smiling when your riding your doing it right. Keep up the good work.
Didn't like this bike at first but must confess its growing on me, having said that I fully agree that at 20k is far too much especially when you consider the potential depreciation on these, but 12k is definitely more realistic.
Another quality watch. Not into cruisers myself but the two you have tried gave a good insight, which make do you fancy riding next Harley?Keep up the good work👍
Love your videos - been watching for awhile. Not so keen on the merchandise push mid-video. Feels like you’re moving away from where you started. Please keep it about the bikes and the biking!
I know you cover all road types, but how about a TMF test route? With all road types. Then every bike would be put through a very like for like test. And divecomparable fuel figures. MCN have their route. BIKE used to do the 440 (mile) route. Available luggage weight would be useful too as this is a very real figure for a lot of us. Happy travels
Agree with you. It's a 20k toy that just lacks those sweet touches. Seen one in the flesh at a dealer and all they talk about was the TFT screen and controls. Needs a clock design console, and also the front yokes are very roughly cast. For a bike of this cost, its needs to be finished much better.
Fair enough - I personally think the finishes are fine, just a little concern about how they will stand the test of time given the marks on this bike already (but I don't suppose this one is lovingly looked after by press riders and the like!)....
Loved all the videos on the triumph rocket . As a Harley Davison rider this is the only bike that I think has really impressed me the rocket three but I’d like to test ride the GT version I think this would suit me better . When this crazy situation is over I hope to get down to a triumph dealer .
MotoGeo is another channel I follow. I first met Jamie at the British MotoGP in the early 90's where he was riding as privateer on a 250 2t finishing just off the podium with Max Biaggi on the top step.
Firstly, it IS a cool bike ! "The glaring gap in my collection". So when is it going to be added to the collection ? I know you said you don't have the cash. I wonder what odds the bookies will give me on "TMF gets a Rocket 3 before the end of 2021" :-D
you like cruisers, but you've never tried a Harley. You should try and arrange some test rides after the lockdown, im sure the fans would love to hear your thoughs on them also, if you're looking for a new open face helmet; the new Bell Broozer is a Full face helmet with a fully rated removable chin bar so can be a full face when its cold. Maybe check that out to finish your retro kit?
I'm not convinced it's a cruiser. The rocket and the diaval are kind of in their own class. Muscle bike? You've speced the bike up in your head, that my friend is the start of the slippery slope to ownership! Great video once again. Stay safe.
Hi Missenden, I posted a reply about 20 minutes ago, but there was a comment about UK lockdowns, so maybe I was guilty of UA-cam wrongthought. We'll see what comes through the filters.
I can see the comment in reply to my pinned one. I choose not to ride so as not to risk an "off" and cause paramedics more work....may not be the case forever if restrictions get eased in the future.
Hi again. Just to add some local perspective. I live 10 minutes away from a very large regional teaqching hospital. This hospital currently has zero coronavirus patients. There have been no new infections in my distrtict for a week. There have been a grand total of 48 cases in my district (which covers many hundred square miles). These are either recovered cases, or recovering cases, none of whom require hospitalisation. So, today I went for a ride. I don't think I was infringing on anyone's social distance, and I was not exposing myself to any risk above that normally associated with riding a motorbike. In fact, there is less traffic than normal.
** PLEASE NOTE: This was filmed before the current outbreak **

If the battery fails for 1, I ride the other one until I get around to buying a new one and installing it. The main problems with the Rocket 3 are the cost to buy, the faster wear for the back tire from the weight and torque, and the insurance costs. To me, one side of the engine looks a lot better.
Top of the morning to you Andy! Just home from work here in Oregon. Don't have the dream job you do. Love your channel and all the great information on bikes, gear, touring, maintenance, etc. I do tell everyone I know about you and what you have to offer.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow thanks Michael, I bet you’re popular!!! 😆
i really enjoy your bike review videos, but i don't get the merchandising thing..... obviously you push it's sale cos it makes you money, but why anyone would buy something with tmf on it beats me, but maybe i'm the strange one
Is it a cruiser or a muscle bike. I have the earlier one and to me its a cruiser. The new one to me is more a muscle bike. Am i wrong. ?
No - I think either description fits either bike.....
There’s no science to liking bikes: true that hated my Tuono, love my CB1000R, hated my R1M and love my S1000RR. Yet I’ve read journalism saying I’m mad!
It sounds like you are a Honda guy. Honda blends comfort and sport very well.
I'm glad you mentioned the sensitive eyes part at the end. I have the same issue and wear sunnies all year round. I often get weird looks although that's maybe just me and my current Covid hairdo, aka birds nest. Thanks again for the video.
Cheers Colin - it's amazing how people get so upset by it isn't it!
You're right when you say you're going to catch some flack for the open face helmet. I've personally seen the result of an open face helmet and a slide along the floor. I've also experienced an accident where I landed on my face. I'd much rather the scratched up helmet than the missing lower jaw. But it's up to you if you want to look cool ;)
I'd love to feel the torque of that machine, looks like it'd pull your shoulders out
After😷do try northumberland even when bike busy day most roads including coast road are quiet and of course lower Scottish border almost deserted. ...best of health from dave
Yes I'd love to go back - did you see my videos on the Honda CRF on Holy Island?
TheMissendenFlyer Another recommendation for Northumberland, living just off the A68 I’m spoilt.
love the roads round Kielder area
I see the same comments about this being expensive.. have you people shopped Harley or Indian lately???? This is hardly expensive... its in the range.. especially for as much bike as it is
Very true....
Another great video, appreciate the added camera (and impressive how steady the footage is from it)
Love the videos, just bought a used Rocket GT after watching them. Did you find you can hear the rear drive or do I need to take it back.
Hmm, maybe get that checked…
Thoroughly enjoy your channel since this lockdown i'm currently on my 2 week summer holiday from work! and as a consequence i'm climbing the walls as all the plans I had off riding my bikes too different places over this fortnight have been shot down, so ive been watching your vids off the west coast off Scotland , wales , and the fantastic artic circle ride which has been appeasing my itchy throttle hand for a while. As a matter off interest I ride a Triumph Thunderbird Commander and a Kawasaki 1700 voyager and i've bought a 2018 Enfield 500 from the Bike Den in Watford which you've featured on your vids that's due too be delivered once this lockdown has ended. so thanks for the vids they're keeping me sane ! ride safe!
Cheers A, and congratulations on the new bike, do say hello to Steve from me when you pick her up!
I bought myself a Shoei open face helmet a couple of years ago now, as I ride a Honda CB1100. I love it.
Yes I think it’s defo something I should look into when we get back to riding again - just for those slow lazy rides taking in the scenery on my Triumph or Royal Enfield....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Difficult to mount cameras on open face lids
@@andysatch9150 Having went face-first into a car roof when he shot out in front of me, I agree. If I wasn't wearing a full-face helmet I would have been in serious trouble. As it was, burst lip, and bent forks.
@@BigBadJock Well yes, you have to decide whether you have a bottom on your helmet, or no lower jaw. Which makes you look cooler..........?
Any chance of a live-stream any time soon? Need something to keep our spirits up...
Yeah I'm thinking about maybe doing one soon(ish).....I'll let you know...
Alternatively, if it does drag on, you could
A)Seek guidance from the local police, and
B) Assuming that goes well, put it to a poll of your viewers via a 'live chat' with the inclusion of the positive police advice.
Are the handle bars closer than on the Bobber?
Thanks for this series on the new R3, it seems to be an awesome machine. I personally wouldn’t class it as a cruiser more a muscle bike.
Yes a few have said the same Marc...
No four finger braking defo isn’t necessary, the brakes are amazing - just by chance you saw me going that, I sometimes do....I’m fairly inconsistent!
Nice to see there’s some of us about! Apparently most people use 4 but using two, you tend to ‘feel’ the brakes rather than grab ‘em. I keep two fingers on the clutch as well but that goes back to my air-cooled, two-stroke, road-racing days. 👍
Steve Inskip , I always do the same again racing two strokes lol,
Love the bike and the gear but open face helmets just make me shudder with the thought of an accident... I know it's personal choice and I would never advocate forcing people to wear anything above the legal requirements but even in a mild diesel related roundabout spill as my wife had the helmet still took a fair battering to the visor
Yes I very much understand the risks....hence my comment on this type of comment!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks for your comment on my comment on that type of comment that you commented on in the video :)
Nice comment!
Just so you know, when I get on a cruiser once in a while, under the visor of my Arai I am scowling...
Just wondering if you've ridden the GT and how you felt it compared to the R?
No I haven't but I hope to at some point for that comparison...
Bro ...what is the post purchase maintenance cost and servicing cost of rocket 3 r ..
Quite courageous on your end Andy with the front camera without any tethering.
Yes I was living on the edge there!
Everybody will have an opinion on this, and this is only mine but; I had an accident years ago, car pulled out and I went over the back of it. If I’d had an open faced helmet the bottom half of my face wouldn’t look quite so good. Just something to think about is all..
Yes I’m well aware of the risks hence my comment about getting this type of comment! Thanks for watching....
Yes I have ridden those - the trouble is me and getting up early don’t necessarily go together Steve....
I’m a bit like that myself. I have to force myself to get out of bed, but it’s well worth it when I do. Best part of the day.
Lol one trick pony?
Rode one?
@@R3RLEE Not yet
Great vid again TMF , agree with all you have said, loving my TFC Rocket, the quick shifter is like butter even with only 380 miles still on the clock. As regards open face lids, check out the new Shoei's with built in flip down visor. Once again, thanks for the vids, hopefully you have a few more in the can before it all kicked off. Keep safe.
Oh yes lots more to come - stay tuned!
Maybe put your advert at the beginning or the end...in the middle is just annoying!
Are you talking about the Oxford kit advert or the TMF website advert?
Hi ya always great videos and always a pleasure to watch them. Been watching your reviews for so long that it was you that got me back into biking. Thanks and stay safe.
Brilliant - I love it when I hear things like that - cheers Skip!
"Nothing about this bike is difficult..."
Affording one is quite difficult., for most of us.. not that I would want one, I'd much rather have a diavel (not the X)
Also... there are plenty of retro full faced helmets out there made by reputable brands including Shoei (the glamster)
True! on both counts...(hate those full face retro lids though)....
Well said, me to the diavel all day!!
Have both!
Compared to the Speed Twin, the Rocket has got an extra 65% bhp, around 100% more torque, but then it also has an extra 50% mass. I guess the Rocket's quicker, I'm interested by what margin ?
No idea, it feels super ballistic in comparison (and the Speed Twin is no slouch!)....
Hi are you still doing a column in MCN I keep looking for it but cannot find? Don’t like the Triumph tractor.
Nope - got fired in the New Year along with the other "Vlog Off" crew....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Oh dear that's a shame however its their loss,

Hi, Northumberland is beautiful, great roads, friendly people and amazing coastline. But keep it quiet, don’t tell everyone 👍🏻 kettle will be on if you head up this way 👍🏻
Cheers Paul - any hobnobs in offer???
TheMissendenFlyer I will make sure I have some in I promise 👍🏻👍🏻
Id like to see a smaller one..900cc?
Probably impinge on Bobber and Speedmaster sales?
Captain Average absolutely I just like the Idea of a lower lighter more compact machine still some triple torque and possibly using existing cylinder head barrels cams injection from the new 900 tiger and an inline transmission with shaft drive ...
There are a lot of good back roads around Staffordshire, if you know where to go eg the B 5405 Stafoord to Sighford then back along the A 5013 to Stafford or Norton Canes to Milford along the A 460 the A51 and the A 513 then up into Brocton Village and Cannock Chase.
Thanks for the sharing the video... any plans for GT ride and it’s comparison to the R...will be nice to see your version🥂
The Diavel and the Rocket 3 are more muscle bike than cruiser. Harley Davidson, Indian motorcycles are real cruisers. Would like to see you test ride these machines, they may yet surprise you. Cheers keep up the good work.
I’d love a go on them!
looking forward cheers
Great end video for your time with the big Triumph! At some point after "you know what" I will get myself a test ride on one of these beasties, will it give me the same grin factor as my stage 2 Harley Fat Bob 114? Yes quicker but what about the grin...??? My other concern for the Triumph is that build/finish you pointed out in the last vid, for me when one spends a huge sum on a "toy" it needs to stay looking good and feel super premium. Cheers... FT
I won't mention "Harley test ride" hehe shhhhhh.
Yes I’ve defo got to get that Harley ride as soon as I’m able!
Dark glasses AND dark visor as well flyer! on a rather cloudy, dull day by the look of it, ha! Surely the eyes aren't that old and sensitive to the not much light out today, haha! Each to their own I guess matey and you know how much shade you need! Be safe Flyer.
Did you watch to the very end??
@@TheMissendenFlyer I know matey, I know you have sensitive eyes, didn't know they were that sensitive! for what looked, a dull day all day, as I said though you know how much shade you need for yourself fine. Will the keen Policeman that stops you for the dark visor (illegal) & sunglasses on the murky day agree..? Not trying to have a go Flyer, but be careful matey. Good luck with everything, I do like your channel and all your vids and what you do, sharing your views and your experiences, they're great and useful.
TMF! hope your all well, not related at all to video (which was a great obviously) but do you intend on loaning a KTM 390 Adventure as and when life returns back to normal? thinking about getting one hence the comment.
Regards
Yes I'd love a crack on one - I loved the 390 Duke and light weight adventure bikes are a favourite of mine, so if KTM will lend me one, I'd love a go!
What is it with the Rocket that makes you call it a cruiser? For me it's more a naked bike, streetfighter if you like. But a cruiser? Not really!
You may be right - I quite like “muscle bike” too...
Always enjoy your running commentary TMF, whilst cruising many roads I’ve never seen, past some fabulous urban & rural locations. On another note, managed to take my GS out twice yesterday. A morning run to the doctor for my annual fluvax shot, then again in the afternoon for my wife. The long way, of course, without being silly about it. It certainly reminded me of why I love riding the beast. Thanks again. 👍🏍😷🇦🇺
Always my pleasure Russell - good to hear from you...
Can you do a review of Rocket 3 GT and compare it to the Rocket 3R?
Would love too if I manage to get a go on the GT at some point.....
That blue van with the tinted side window, looked like a camera car. I hope you were under the speed limit...
I hate these retro full face lids - I’ll leave them to the Instagram moto-girls and London hipster brigade....
Not a cruiser guy either, only cruiser ridden was the standard Diavel for an hours test ride which I enjoyed. As you say hats off for Triumph for making the Rocket. My Triumph street triple arrived Tuesday so desperate to ride her but will have to wait lol. Cheers TMF
Congratulations Dave - it’ll definitely be worth the wait!
I started watching this with the subtitles on while going through my subscription area. The subtitles claim you started off by saying "morning kids it's Mr fry here" tickled me a little ^^. Always good to see one of your videos on my subscription list.
Very kind of you to say so - thanks Nathan!
Great bike, bit of a struggle to hand it back.
Very much so....
Seems rather shaky the cameras on this particular video, is the bike overly stiffly sprung?
Probably my nerves!
Would love to Clive - thanks for the recommendation
Hi Andy....glad you enjoyed it bud! Thought from the title you’d sent MrsF back to her mum! 😱😉 Stay safe!
As if!!!
Somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen!!
I didn’t notice the heat being an issue - but then it was the tail end of winter when I rode this. I imagine most Bikes are uncomfortable at 40degC!!
Hey TMF! Did you try the Indian Scout? Friends of mine who love cruisers can't stop raving about it. Give it a go. Even Benelli have made a Diavel lookalike using the Leoncino engine which is great value for money. Try them both now you're Rocket-free?
If only I could! Covid-19 has stopped my riding for the foreseeable future :0(
I would love to buy a cruiser but there is so much more choice out there. I just don't know what I want anymore. Because I like the idea of going off road and being adventurous, at the same time I want that super sport feel
I had the same dilemma as you did. The Ducati Multistrada was the answer for me!
It is a gorgeous bike.
Agreed!
Equaliser most will price match, you just need to ask......👍
@@simonstokes2672 Indeed! Motolegends will even go below the advertised price which they have done for me on a number of occasions (not local for me unfortunately - I have to visit my daughter as an excuse). The internet retailers normally allow the right to return as well.
I would like one too and agree that it would never be my only bike. The price, however, is the primary obstacle.
Yes I suspect that's the case for most of us - make it £10K and I'm suddenly much more interested!
Too expensive and I think the old school charm might wear thin.
... and as TMF mentioned later in the video... like the Diavel, its a one trick pony.
astrobusa yep. I don’t think if you use your bike year round it’ll fit the bill. I wish I had 20k for a toy.. but sadly I haven’t
Cheers Gareth I’ll check those out.....and I’m very envious of your shopping trip! I’ve not ridden a bike since March 20th 🙁
Just watched your three Rocket videos back to back, again ! Lol
Test rode the Gt today, I got the first Rocket new in 2004 then another in about 2014 , but, this new engine is so strong !
Big thanks to Total Triumph in Wellington near Taunton.
Had a talk and decided that the R would be better for me with the GT handlebars and the quick shifter.
Also had a ride on the GT Tiger Pro which is also very nice so will have a think to decide 🧐
Gra and Sandy, North Devon, ps, still some of the best biking roads !, but don’t tell everyone

The most beautiful bike I’ve seen and will be my next bike as I sold my fatbob 114 a while ago
Nice one!
it seems like you prefer this to the diavel you wrode. it would be interesting to see if your opinion would change if the diavel had midset pegs and the rocket was the gt version with forward pegs. love watching your videos tmf.
Indeed!
TMF. Traded in my 22 speed twin for the Rocket 3gt. Now i do miss the twin. But goddamn there is nothing like this bike out there. A gentle beast that is pure joy to ride.
Cool!
Yes I completely agree on the comfort stakes....mid set pegs definitely work better for me...
Nice to hear you like riding in the Peak District Andy :) I live in the Crooked Spire town of Chesterfield just on the edge here in Derbyshire :)
TMF. Just noticed In the MCN this weeks edition, bikes for sale, is a street triple R in bucks. Looks like yours, wouldn't of thought they'd be too many in bucks with the same, black with gold wheels?
Stay safe 👍.
Certainly not mine!
A fair summary, strikes me as a bike to hire for a long weekend trip. Not one to own unless you really do have cash to spare. Rear facing camera seems pretty dark throughout, maybe an aperture tweak next time? Keep up the quality Andy, stay safe!
Cheers Mick!
Not into cruisers myself but the two you have tried gave a good insight, which make do you fancy riding next Harley?Keep up the good work👍
Biggest problem with Rocket is the posted speed limit and that a mere one second of time doesn’t matter.
Geez if you did drop it, you'd almost have to call AA to help get it up again.
Very true!
There is a video on UA-cam where a small womam picks up a big harley. You just need the right technique
Retro full face by Premier looks good and is a sharp 4 star helmet.... Love mine.
Hmmm....
Love your videos - been watching for awhile. Not so keen on the merchandise push mid-video. Feels like you’re moving away from where you started. Please keep it about the bikes and the biking!
Excellent video, thank you. Makes me more want to get out on my bikes but alas not yet. Stay safe.

My favorite bike 😍😍❤️❤️, God please bless with this great bike,

Can you do a review of your various helmets ? You can do this under lockdown from the man cave. I’m interested as I’m looking for a new helmet myself.
I have reviewed most of them individually Simon....
Good idea!
Nice one - take your wallet!
MotoGeo is another channel I follow. I first met Jamie at the British MotoGP in the early 90's where he was riding as privateer on a 250 2t finishing just off the podium with Max Biaggi on the top step.
Nice one....
You should try and arrange some test rides after the lockdown, im sure the fans would love to hear your thoughs on them
also, if you're looking for a new open face helmet; the new Bell Broozer is a Full face helmet with a fully rated removable chin bar so can be a full face when its cold. Maybe check that out to finish your retro kit?
Yes I’m definitely going to do that if I can find a friendly local Harley dealer - so far Ive not been able to get any to talk to me!
@@TheMissendenFlyer weird, it seems the American dealers are always super keen to throw motovloggers on their test bikes? Maybe one day....
I'm not convinced it's a cruiser. The rocket and the diaval are kind of in their own class. Muscle bike? You've speced the bike up in your head, that my friend is the start of the slippery slope to ownership! Great video once again. Stay safe.
Yes you may be right, muscle bike sounds better too I think....
Hi Missenden,
I posted a reply about 20 minutes ago, but there was a comment about UK lockdowns, so maybe I was guilty of UA-cam wrongthought.

I can see the comment in reply to my pinned one. I choose not to ride so as not to risk an "off" and cause paramedics more work....may not be the case forever if restrictions get eased in the future.
So sad that even a motorcycle riding channel is censored by UA-cam (Google) because one comment touches upon public health. We are all being screwed.
@@TheMissendenFlyer I hate "offs", and I choose to ride conservatively so that medical personnel are not inconvenienced by my injuries.
It’s not always just down to our actions though is it (although I accept in the case of Motorcycle accidents it mainly is...)
Great reviews Andy, I need to get a go on one now as soon as this lockdown is done 😎😇
