And the Genesis is a RWD architecture with a longitudinally mounted engine. I'd much rather tune this engine than anything in the Lexus since those are transverse mount engines and I'm not convinced those much smaller transmissions can take the torque of a tune. I may be wrong of course, but generally I believe that (FWD transmissions) is generally the case.
Let’s get real, no one will be tuning either of these boats. The ICE in the RX500h only drives the front wheel, the rear is powered exclusively via electric motor mounted in the rear differential.
Whatever the conclusion, the two cars cannot be compared in terms of weight class. Was it sponsored by Lexus? Don't distort. And why are they trying to hide the length of the Lexus from the screen? It's cowardly.
Nice comparison. Later in the video you said it was the 3.5t version, but not what trim. If it was the Prestige trim I would have been interested in sound level with active noise cancelleation ON. Also the ride with the look-ahead active dampers set to Comfort. I'm looking at the 2.5t Prestige which also has those features. Not a 'car guy' that finds drive train power/performance a big deal.

Not sure why you need software to prove the Lexus is a softer ride. Just look at the wheels! GV80 with 22 inch wheels and therefore very little sidebar is always going to be a harsher ride over road imperfections.
Definitely tire and wheels there, but you'll notice other people who test drove them found the GV80 much softer. When I test drove a fully loaded one, I found it nice and soft, but not as soft as a G90. It's not rough by any means, it's what you'd expect out of a luxury car.

Essentially you buy reliability and functionality definitely RX is no street racer, does everything well flies under the radar and when you want to sell it, great resale value. I have to assume dealer network is better than Genesis. Genesis GV80/ big car, big presence, for a name plate that has only been around 4 years, sure you ae buying a car that has a unique exterior design. seems well appointed to exude luxury, interior spaciousness and most important keeping the 6cyl engine option available for customers. I am not sure if the GV80 has reliability, questionable dealer network or great resale value. I currently own a 2011 MDX with 6cyl 300HP, SH-AWD and seating for 7. My MDX was a unique contender with the ugly beak, as everyone called it. But honestly, at the time the MDX while it was the ugly duck, it deliver performance even when fuel efficiency was not there.
The GV80 doesnt compete with the RX... it competes with the LX...genesis just sells at a much lower price...and they do it as a marketing tool for more sales and brand loyalty...lexus was doing the same thing genesis is doing now but 25-30years ago...they have their spot in the luxury segment..they arnt going anywhere and are still used as a benchmark by other luxury manufacturers wheather they admit it or not.

I have a Lexus rx 500h f sport. It is a lot quicker than the 350 f sport. The only way this comparison would be fair is if this gv80 was compared to the Lexus 500h. The genesis is nice looking vehicle but this comparison seems to be rigged from the start for Genesis. The genesis is also way more expensive than the Lexus that it was compared to.
I think maybe Caddy is the worst luxury Suv maker, Lexus is second worst, cheap build all around, the car chassis of Janpanese car nowdays are all about cutting budgets, had a RX350h, the damn front left suspension broke twice in 3 months, nah, for quality and drivers car I don't recommend Lexus at all. I also have experiences driven Mecedes, Cadillac, Toyota, Honda, Chevy. Think the Japanese cars are the worst for spirit drivers, they are cheap for a reason. Most of Lexus sold to those middle age women have no ideas about cars in general, they are slowing down and jamming every drive way..........🙃
The Genesis is on A WHOLE different playing field than the Lexus, and it is a shame because Lexus has enough resources to make an SUV as good if not better than the GV80. I enjoy your content but I see no point in this unless someone at Lexus begged for a skewed comparison? From the Asians, only the CX90 can match up to the GV80. MDX Type S doesn't count as it is an American built product but definitely a worthy competitor.
Come on, man, you choose a v6 hyundai genesis to compare to Lexus 4, and the 4 obviously outperformed in terms of ride, isolation, and entertainment, yet you choose the Hyundai? That the same reason you also chose an iPhone with that big ugly cut-out? Smart luxury car shoppers don't just buy for style but also the experience and cred. Bringing your so-called luxury car to a Hyundai dealership for maintenance is in no way, shape, or form considered luxury. The genesis has an old throw-back Buick vide, which is attractive but will age faster. And is it me, or does the back seats in the GV look like a coffin?? The Lexus has a much lighter, current, and sporty demeaner that will appeal to more younger buyers. Throw in cred and possibly better reliability, and that's a winning combination for future retail value when you go to sell it.
I believe that gv80 has brought about advancements in materials engineering and design engineering. Genesis' expensive aluminum arms and suspension, which have excellent vibration control and absorption capabilities comparable to those of Mercedes-Benz and BMW, are also made of aluminum. It looks like no expense was spared in the use of materials. The BMW design engineering data and philosophy of Biermann, a former BMW chief engineer who oversaw the m project, were reflected, and most of the design took some of the driving and riding comfort advantages of the Mercedes-Benz BMW. At the same time, it feels like it has a bit of a Land Rover feel somewhere between a German car and a British car. When I actually drove it, it felt like a good combination of the sensibilities of German cars, Japanese cars, British cars, and American cars. To put it negatively, it was disappointing that Hyundai Motor Company did not have an extreme identity. Personally, I wish they would no longer use shift dials and ugly handle designs.

That's quite a feat for any car company especially in today's competitive market, and why all these imitations have now popped up. Maybe in 10-15 more years the Hyundai genesis might have proven its right to be taken seriously by real luxury car buyers instead of side-bench fans who have never even sat in one and will never own one. sam are you able to do comparison on lexus rx 350h vs any good hybrid suv in the market as of now ?
Sure
Genesis is the new Lexus
Meanwhile Lexus is the next Infiniti which means they’re on the verge of going out of business
But you didn't change the sound mode in the Genesis you can pick Audience, Stage or Referance
Doesnt change the audio quality - more so how the sound is heard from a position.
@SamCarLegion the quality of more crisp in Audience mode. I have a GV80
@@anthonybugge5220 i didn’t find that- i know the modes
It's cowardly.
so this Lexus is on 21" wheels? they look a bit smaller. it also could explain the smoother ride and lower cabin noise in the lexus
500h is 21in. Onky the lower end model has 19in
the genesis is way better than the lexus!
Ask a mechanic.
In what way?
Of course the genny
Either one is best
Said no one ever
Genesis is the best. Lexus is the worst. Dare I saw Lexus is now worse than Infiniti. Ouch
@@biggest_hater_yt the RX is just a gussied up Camry on stilts
Nice comparison. Later in the video you said it was the 3.5t version, but not what trim. If it was the Prestige trim I would have been interested in sound level with active noise cancelleation ON. Also the ride with the look-ahead active dampers set to Comfort. I'm looking at the 2.5t Prestige which also has those features. Not a 'car guy' that finds drive train power/performance a big deal.
Top trim
The RX screen design looks like it came out of a Toyota. the GV rotary gear selector has to go. since the Gv has a slightly stiffer ride, does it make up for it in terms of handling?
the screen is great, huge, and high resolution, backup camera is awesome... what I dont like after having a mercedes E class is the backup camera gets dirty in winter a lot, where the merc had a flip out camera that was always clean.. One thing I am noticing a lot now. Overall the car is exceptionally nice to drive.. One of the best cars I have ever owned. I have the RX500h.
About the electronic door handles, just like Tesla, I don't know whether these car manufacturers have considered how rescuers open the doors from outside while battery is dead/cut and even car is on fire🔥... Please don't make more Apollo 1 disasters.
any thoughts on the BMW X5 base versys hybrid versions? would like to see a similar review using the German countetr parts.
Had an X5. Worst POS unreliable headache I’ve ever had. Its steering is too heavy and sluggish. It’s only made for the American market for a reason. If you like throwing away your money, then go ahead and buy one.
@@JohnLee-db9zt just because your’s was unreliable doesn’t mean all of them are, espacially the new ones
I found this review rather unusual. Why would you do an audio test before a test drive? Why would you wait nearly 25 minutes into the review before driving either car?
GV80
I"ll take genesis
Not sure why you need software to prove the Lexus is a softer ride. Just look at the wheels! GV80 with 22 inch wheels and therefore very little sidebar is always going to be a harsher ride over road imperfections.
Definitely tire and wheels there, but you'll notice other people who test drove them found the GV80 much softer. When I test drove a fully loaded one, I found it nice and soft, but not as soft as a G90. It's not rough by any means, it's what you'd expect out of a luxury car.
1in wheel difference miles apart in readings. No not really. 19in lexus models are suprisingly as smooth as their 21in. Things are always subjective until you use a tool. He done a good job on that tool
Is RX a rebadged RAV4?
Is your mom a rebadged RAV4?😂
LOL, my wife has a 2020 current gen rav 4.... there is ZERO comparison.. the RX is larger, a LOT more power, and your comment is actually insulting lol... I hate my wifes RAV 4.. It feels like junk after driving and owning a 2023 RX500h.
Only if this is a "rebadged" hyundai..
Yes the RX is a fancy rav4. Although it’s also a fancy Camry on stilts
The gv80 is not a fancy Hyundai Tuscon or sonata. It rides on its own exclusive RWD platform. It has the characteristics of a real luxury car whereas the RX has characteristics of just being a fancy Camry or rav4
@@twfinc6855 Almost all popular Lexus are rebadged Toyotas with luxury finishes and better NVH, but the underlying chassis and drivetrain are essentially the same. This is no industry secret. I’ve owned a 2020 Lexus ES350 F Sport. Despite its fancy name, sporty pretense, and high price, it’s nothing but a FWD Camry with better interior and unnecessary harsh ride over uneven roads. It was sluggish, underpowered, and handled like a boat just like a Camry. It was totaled by another driver, and I was relieved my insurance covered the loss. And I was glad I was rid of it. But it was a good lesson that taught me not to buy a rebadged Toyotas. The fact that you feel insulted pretty sums up your gullibility and ignorance of how Lexus/Toyota operates. But I do agree with you on one thing. The RAV4 drives like cheap junk. 😉
I own both cars, I must say, the genesis amenities is wayyyyy more luxurious. Also, for the price, I feel the RX is an upscale Toyota.
GV80 forever ❤
Wish genisis was more reliable
Rwd front wheel drive no comparison
Yet the Gv80 is boring to drive and the RX 500h with rear steer and torque vectoring awd is a much sportier and fun drive
$90K? I just recently bought a 2023 VW Tiguan for $29K and I thought that was expensive.
but its a f vw...
2024 tiguan starts in canada at 37k. The R line goes for 50k. And sorry the tiguan is cheaper for a reason.
That 4 banger in the Lexus is so unrefined. Noisy and coarse. No thanks
It’s faster with substantially better mpg
For me i find GV 80 more luxurious and way ahead in this comparison….as a new generation were I’m belong after 4-5 years I upgraded and change my car….old people always says look for reliability…do you think other car don’t have?…they have even warranty’s way far compared to this old brand…i know they are way ahead in the market for years….
You sound SO smart! No it's not about old or young. By the way, it's silly young people who become old, if they're lucky! Guess which you are?!
BTW, if taking a 'luxury' car to a low budget Hyundai dealership is "way ahead for you, and "luxurious", you obviously don't understand what you're even talking about.
"A new generation" that cant even afford these cars. What a laugh haha

So go back to complaining about having to go back to work and maybe then, you could THINK that your gen are the ones buying anything. It's the older folks with generally more cash who are carrying the market. Get it right.
Thing is the Lexus looks sportier and the Genesis for over 50 year old buyers in my opinion. Also, Lexus has pedigree and has proven it's luxury & reliability over the years. Lexus wins easily for me
Genesis !
Also, you are comparing RX 2.4L 4 cylinder 275 HP engine to Gv 80 3.5TT 375hp engine on the noise level and vibration. Not a fair comparison..
F Sport is a waste of money. I had ES350 F Sport which had the harshest ride over rough roads.

gv80 all the way
Genesis is the real winner in all aspect!…
We don't want Toyota or Hyundai.
We are comparing to buy a more luxurious car.
Anyone can see that the Genesis seems to be a more expensive car than the Lexus.
Of course, Lexus, which has a long history, is more trustworthy.
But the 7-year warranty takes all your worries away.
Lexus 2024 RX 350, hate 4Cyl engine, unless you get top models, the 2nd row seating has no luxury feel.
@SamCarLegion. any time Sam.
I love the V6, I own and RX 350 2016, and the new 2.5 4 cyl I do not thnk would do it for me. That car size needs a V6
I don't know..Lexus just looks cheap
I Hope lexus will get us a coupe version of the rx. But it seems they dont follow the trend..
And thank God for that lol
hmm no…the RX500h does not have 22-in wheels
Lexus is ugly. Do not compare with Genesis.
And, Genesis has better clarity in classical music.

It would sound better to you than the actual person listening? You with your tinny tiny cheap cellphone??
Toyota has been cheating for 35 years. Wow, that:'s a long time.😢

Genesis gv80 🔥🔥🔥
Genesis beat Lexus
Hyundai beat Toyota
Kia beat Honda
Also Honda beats Toyota. Actually literally any brand beats toyota lexus
Keep day dreaming

Most of Lexus sold to those middle age women have no ideas about cars in general, they are slowing down and jamming every drive way..........🙃
Mark Levinson is not an Audi system
The Lexus screams Toyota while the Genesis makes you forget Hyundai even exists. Genesis is my pick.
I would take the rx over the gv any day …. But not in this color the white and the grey suit it better in my opinion
Interesting that Lexicon is a brand under Harman…. Just like Mark Levinson.
Lexicon seems like it should be in a Lexus 😂.
The back of Lexus Rx looks ugly.
The Genesis will depreciate like a rock compared to the Lexus...

I think Lexus paid him to talk about Lexus 😂
2.5 mil
OMG!!! Lexus? No!!
Personally, I wish they would no longer use shift dials and ugly handle designs.
hyundai vs toyota i think the answer is obvious
why you always compare the wrong spec of lexus vehicles to or brands, should've compared the genesis with the RX 350 premium luxury
90k for a genesis? its a great vehicle but if i have 90k to spend on a vehicle it would be an audi q8 or a merc eqe. Majority of the people who have 90k won't even spend it on a premium Hyundai

Just FYI due to numerous misinformation. This car was called the Hyundai Genesis when it was first introduced. It is a Hyundai vehicle which is serviced by Hyundai workers in Hyundai dealerships. That in itself may not matter to some but no true luxury car buyer wants to hang inside a low budget dealership with their expensive vehicle...unless you want to show off to other Hyundai folks...they seem to be the only ones impressed.
Luxury is proof of time, longevity, quality and reliability. The RX has been at the top of its game for over 20 years and still manages to remain there.
