Lexus reliability is legendary. But for those who drive cars like the X5 it doesn't really matter. They are either going to lease this, or drive it for 5-6 years, trade it in and get a new one. And most of the European luxury cars are going to be great in that time period, while offering more modern tech and a more exciting engine/transmission with better handling. It all depends on what you want or need.

Than hope you wont be dissapointed ,my sister has bmw 330 saloon 2021,interior creaks aftwr 20k miles ,materials are not so good...but most cars are made cheap today. Thats why I bought lexus NX, because of the quality ,better than x3 ,and other cars in this class. And reliability, premium reliability you can get only from lexus.
In addition to Lexus's lower price and superior reliability, I would add an overall lower cost of ownership, which is much much higher with the BMW - as they tend to be expensive to maintain.
Bought my 2018 rx450h with 35000 miles on it three years ago. Current mileage is 76000. Apart from regular servicing it's cost me 15 quid for a replacement wiper arm (ebay). Not sure a bmw would be so cheap to maintain over 41000 miles 🤔
I've owned both and I would not buy another X5, but I would buy another RX 350. Unfortunatly ICE vehicles are going the way of the Dodo bird and we may be forced to go EV. Maybe by the time I have to get a new car in a few years, EV's will have sorted out all the issues.
You must look at the category. Are people who are buying these SUV’s towing or going off road, no. Are you trying to drive like you are on a Grand Prix race track, no. You are probably going to work every day, driving on long weekends or vacations with your family. All of this is personal preference but for me spending that much money, comfort and reliability reigns supreme. With that said I prefer Lexus, not mad at anyone for having a different opinion.

The X5 is a winner for you if you want a BMW and the Lexus is a winner if you want a Lexus. How can you even compare these two. At this price point the overal feel counts more; I would expect both of them to be good :)
The X5 has a smashing exterior And a smashed down interior RX doesn't seem as premium or appealing in exterior but definitely the more welcoming interior layout However, no denying the fact that the material and build quality is leagues ahead in the X5
These are just such different vehicles in almost every Imaginable way. If you think they are comparable, save yourself a bit of coin, enjoy the better reliability, and buy the Lexus - because you won’t know what you are missing.

To sum it up. If you want a point A to B premium SUV with reliability get the Lexus. I you have a soul and enjoy driving and you want a LUXURY SUV the get the BMW. Lexus is not on the same level with BMW when it comes to luxury. Lexus after all is just a Toyota with a dress on. So many people crying because Lexus lost. In Hong Kong China , Mercedes for the ambulances and Land Rover Defender for police cruiser , working class people most of them are driving Japanese car and billionaires driving European , in American most man driving a BMW and most women driving a Lexus .
It seems one important point has been missed here. If you wanted to test these two cars in some 15 years from now again, BMW will probably be dead already while Lexus would still be running without any major issues. Not that majority of buyers care much but still.

My grandmother & her canasta group love the Beamer 💯
WHAT A SURPRISE🤔
The Lexus 🎉100% all day everyday and twice on Sunday!
- Looks
- Reliability
-Gas mileage
-And resale value...
There is no comparison and I don't work nor sell these things. Its just the facts Jack
Any questions? 😊🤔🧐😎
That base engine in X5 is B58, the one that makes the X3 M40i one of the fastest BMW SUVs.
I bought the RX for the smaller size, better mileage, and less cost.. I liked the X5, it had more features etc.. but I just dont need all that. I felt the BMW was more upscale, but the RX was good enough for me. Im not disappointed, I enjoy it, and have had it for 7 months now.
Proof that reviews/comparison like this cannot be relied on. Its a disconnect from reality. Bmw wins by huge points but more people buys lexus.
More people buy BYD over tesla, yet the tesla is the electric car
Who gave you the sales figures? In this class, X5 is the no1 selling worldwide behind is GLE. RX about 1/3 as much as X5.
@fenglin6095 dude the world don't give a $hit for that unreliable bmw.
people buy lexus because they trust the brand but bmw is much better when new.
@@kristians2704 bmw is ugly.
BMW all the way! My mom has a Lexus which is good for her because less “babysitting” as for maintenance but when it comes to drive and quality of materials… BMW! Thanks for the great content.
BMW X5 for myself!
The X5 is available as a hybrid also, so you should have compared apples with apples.....
Many Many thanks. Very fruitful. All the best.
Lexus rules Japan the best ! Toyota ! ❤
In addition to Lexus's lower price and superior reliability, I would add an overall lower cost of ownership, which is much much higher with the BMW - as they tend to be expensive to maintain.
Which one holds its value? And which one is more reliable? BMW strides for driving performance where Lexus not so much. Not comparable.
This is easy, the X5 is just a beauty!!
Guys don't buy an suv looking for performance, just buy a proper sports car and leave the suv in the garage for your better half.
Definitely the X5 the interior of the Lexus is pretty basic.
great video. awesome approach of two great suvs.
Wish Bmw offered the Bowers and Wilkins audio on the x5 like they used to. Only offered on the X7 😢
BMW with B&W sound system.😂😂😂
If you are going over 36,000 miles, my choice would be the RX.
🤦🏽♂️
Bought my 2018 rx450h with 35000 miles on it three years ago. Current mileage is 76000. Apart from regular servicing it's cost me 15 quid for a replacement wiper arm (ebay). Not sure a bmw would be so cheap to maintain over 41000 miles 🤔
Thanks, I’ve been looking at both as well as a few others.
I've owned both and I would not buy another X5, but I would buy another RX 350. Unfortunatly ICE vehicles are going the way of the Dodo bird and we may be forced to go EV. Maybe by the time I have to get a new car in a few years, EV's will have sorted out all the issues.
Same. I would buy another Lexus RX 350
Thanks for this.
As fast as the companies are back peddling on electric, I expect hybrids will be dominant.
Same here. I gave up X5, and got my rx350L, no more headache
Lexus is the winner for reliable and easy to maintain
You must look at the category. Are people who are buying these SUV’s towing or going off road, no. Are you trying to drive like you are on a Grand Prix race track, no. You are probably going to work every day, driving on long weekends or vacations with your family. All of this is personal preference but for me spending that much money, comfort and reliability reigns supreme. With that said I prefer Lexus, not mad at anyone for having a different opinion.
You didn’t talk about reliability, the RX will last the longest and have the least problems
Haha! Nonsense!
@@AgonxOCdo some research first
@@tanjl-rx3qf “research” haha! You know the only car I ever owned that needed a new transmission was an RX. And it only had 66K miles. So much for reliability.
X5 all the way
I have the current X5, it's amazing. I don't consider the RX a viable competitor. My sister has the RX and it's got a nice ride and is pretty quiet but the overall feel is a lesser vehicle.
Bmw has really brought its game because all bmws are new reliable
Heart says BMW, sense Lexus.
The X5 is miles better but I still would go with Lexus as I know it wont break down.🤣
Reliability, Looks, fuel economy = Lexus
The X5 is a winner for you if you want a BMW and the Lexus is a winner if you want a Lexus. How can you even compare these two. At this price point the overal feel counts more; I would expect both of them to be good :)
Lexus without question!
LEXUS ONLY! 😀
X5 All day. I cant even stand to look at that RX, not to mention the great fuel economy and power on the BMW X5. It’s also faster, and more luxurious.
after 5 years its falling down… you have to have money to maintain it…
The X5 has a smashing exterior
And a smashed down interior
RX doesn't seem as premium or appealing in exterior but definitely the more welcoming interior layout
However, no denying the fact that the material and build quality is leagues ahead in the X5
Rather the opposite.
I had an X5 as a rental… I dream about it constantly. Probably will need to go certified used.
These are just such different vehicles in almost every Imaginable way. If you think they are comparable, save yourself a bit of coin, enjoy the better reliability, and buy the Lexus - because you won’t know what you are missing.
I wouldn't call BMW. A Luxury SUV. It's more Premium than Luxury. BMW are more geared towards Sport. Luxury you cruise. BMW you Drive.
說真的,BMW很多問題,買過了X6m ,才知道的事,被表面給騙了,買車只看表面功夫,會很慘
Lexus hands down ! More reliable!
I’ll take the BMW X5 all day long
Those tire changes are prolly fast on the x5 since you cant rotate those huge tires in the back with the fronts. And expensive.
X5 all day long! Test drove both and the X5 wins at every level. Of course the wildcard is reliability which the Lexus will likely prevail based on history.
Lease: x5
buy for long term: Lexus
@@troytruong8246 Nah, Lexus is boring and slow and the BMW is now 2nd in reliability...Better off with the fun one
@@pete64041 Bmw is 2nd in reliability based on what? Based on consumer reports and JD Power? Obviously, you did not get the memo. Lol. They are journalists and being paid by these companies. You are so naive and gullible. Life is more complex than you think. We only see the tip of the iceberg.
@pete64041 you never even drive the rx to day it slow.
Very Good video Champ
To sum it up. If you want a point A to B premium SUV with reliability get the Lexus. I you have a soul and enjoy driving and you want a LUXURY SUV the get the BMW. Lexus is not on the same level with BMW when it comes to luxury. Lexus after all is just a Toyota with a dress on. So many people crying because Lexus lost. Remember Lexus makes some of the most reliable vehicles out there, but not the best vehicles. I probably makes more sense to compare Lexus to Infiniti, Genesis, or Volvo. Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are on another level in terms of technology and luxury
The bmws speakers sounds better to me in my opinion
Lexus, the best!!!
In Hong Kong China , Mercedes for the ambulances and Land Rover Defender for police cruiser , working class people most of them are driving Japanese car and billionaires driving European , in American most man driving a BMW and most women driving a Lexus .
Great analogy
It seems one important point has been missed here. If you wanted to test these two cars in some 15 years from now again, BMW will probably be dead already while Lexus would still be running without any major issues. Not that majority of buyers care much but still.
The RX is my winner with everything... especially the exterior design language ❤
Price being about the same...ill take the exciting BMW over the boring RX. The RX if you are grandma...
The BMW if your looking for prestige, road presence and performance. Just looking at both cars, it looks like I spent a ton more money on that BMW.
Id take the x5 because it’s a real luxury car
The RX isn’t a luxury car. It’s just a reskinned Camry that’s raised up and tbh looks worse
@@naveenthemachinex5 isn’t a real luxury car its cheap and has faux leather seats…
Go buy one then… vote with your dollar
@@jackz4149 but it’s s real luxury car in far richer materials, better tech and comfort, luxury, RWD architecture, performance, handling etc
@@naveenthemachine are u gonna buy one? Since u like it so much? I liked GLS450 a lot so I bought one
Tow ratings great for bmw. Those that own bmw love em
Any toyota/lexus is better than this x5...😅but if someone would buy me I would say differently 😂 "never buy bmw" ,thats said to me my friend who worked at bmw dealer. Only lexus or mazda. He worked there too. The number of complains at bmw comparing to mazda and lexus was staggering. But if someone just buy me one ,no problem ,I could drive the x5,x4 ,x99😅 and other of 1000 models of bmw...
BMW all the way baby 👨🏻❤️🔥👍🏼
I value technology and innovation the most when purchasing a vehicle so if i had to pick between these two the beamer gets my money.
You also value real luxury car attributes all of which an x5 has
Have fun with your maintenance costs
@@joegar47 if you can’t afford the maintenance costs you can’t afford any luxury car. Plain and simple
@naveenthemachine that doesn't mean you should be complacent wasting extra money, sometimes double, other brands for all the same features you can get elsewhere.
@@joegar47 bmw has the brand prestige and it shows in design powertrains handling tech luxury etc. compare a bmw to Lexus or lesser brands and bmw always wins. Brands like Hyundai Kia are closer to bmw in comparisons. After all hyundai kia hired engineers and designers from bmw Mercedes audi Bentley etc. fun fact Albert Biermann was responsible for tuning the chassis in the latest Hyundai Kia products and before he was tuning the chassis for bmw M
You just won’t find that in a Lexus anymore. So if you want the luxury of reliability buy a corolla or Camry instead.
BMW sucks your cash.. I’ll go for Lexus
Modern day BMWs are very reliable. Especially with B58s. Also owner takes important role. Proper maintenances will make your car more reliable. Only reason Toyo/Lex is notorious for reliability is because their cars have been same since 2000.
lexus, less service costs and more reliable
