i did. i dropped the pan again, and disconnected and reconnected all the electronic connections, making sure they were all connected properly. then i turned the key on and selected reverse, neutral, and drive. i slid the shiftlever over and was able to upshift the transmission manually from 1st to 2nd. At that point i was reasonably sure that i had corrected my issue. i put the pan back on, filled the transmission back up with atf, and testdrove the car. It shifted perfectly. Praise the LORD!
Hi Hiram, first time I'm writing a comment on your videos. Just want to thank you for all the things you have done on educating people with your knowledge on the automotive industry. You are really confident on what you do an I can feel the passion you have for what you do. Thanks again!!!
you are really perfect one ,,,very well you explain every things ,,,thanks Hiram ...I have all your clips and watched them so many times ,,,,,I have to say your explanation is like some jewelry for me ,,,,,you are perfect
that is much much better .............only problem, when is warmed (after 10 minutes driving)the 2nd gear is bumping , most of the time for downshifting 3rd to 2nd ,otherwise that is ok and that is quite better after repairing valve body as you explained on your clip. thanks a lot and apologize for my bad English.
Thanks for the video! How did you cap the solenoids after assembly? I see the caps in the kit, do they just press fit on or did you use any sealer or thread locker? Thanks!
Just wanted to thank you for a great video. Most comprehensive one yet. BTW, this is the same transmission as the Mini Cooper and Clubman R55 and R56. I'll be doing this exact thing very soon as mine is shift hunting from 3-4 gears and shifting hard. Lifetime fluid MY A$$!
Great Video , you pointed the solenoids backwards at the end, also N282 not N228, N88 & N89 were pointed backwards too. whats the difference in shifting after this kit is done if there were no shift issues to start with? Thank You for sharing your knowledge .
Just so you know, WD-40 is a solvent, not a lubricant. In other words- don’t use WD-40 on your valve body unless you clean it all off before reinstalling it on the transmission.
thanks Hiram, great video. i would have liked to see you install the vb on the trans housing though. i'm changing out a vb on my 03 TT this afternoon and i was curious about the 2 springs and shock absorber piston. i will be installing it in the car and i was hoping for any tips you might have. Thanks, tom
I have a 2005 beetle with the 09G trans. It use to shift hard when warm while driving. From a stop when warm when shifting from Park to Drive it would shift very hard also. Would the trans-go shift repair kit help. Your videos are great! You should have a tech-line!
It would be great to see how you put the valve body in. Is it very difficult? I am thinking about changing out the valve body in my daughters 2005 2.5 Jetta.
Hello Hiram, I realize your busy and I hate to bother you. If you can tell your audience the torque specs for the valve body bolts we would appreciate it. Alldata says 8 - 11Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°) . ATSG manual says 8-11 Nm . read online 20)Ft.LBS. what do you recommend?
hi when do you know when you have to do a valve body transgo shift kit install. I do all the work my self but not the valve body I just did my atf and runs good I do my tune up every year thank you for the help
Hi all, my beetle with this gearbox has difficulty changing gear when its hot but perfect when cold is this a solenoid problem ... do they need servicing like on the video.. love the videos what great knowledge ...
Thanks for the good videos Hiram Gutierrez. i have i vw golf plus fsi 2005 it has rough change of gears when it warms up epecially 2nd and 3rd and when going down gears....when you put it into drive and reverse it really shakes ...last month was driving for a long distance the PRNDS light came on, i packed the car for a few minutes then when i started again the light had gone..changed the ATF but the problem persists...could the valve body have issues? please reply
Currently have my valve body removed, and was ready to replace it with the valve body I ordered but USPS broke it some how 😑😑 so now I'm not trying to wait another 5 weeks to get another for 350$ and easy wondering how much a rebuild would be or would I be better off waiting for ever for a new one? Apreciate it
Very good presentation. My 09G problem (2007 Rabbit 2.5L 6 speed auto) is a loud clunk and can feel a jerking, when up and downshifting between 1-2, only happens when transmission hot after driving about 20-30 mi. Higher gears seem to be fine. I am guessing that it is a sticky solenoid valve but not sure which one or if a combination of solenoids. Any suggestions would be greet.
Hi Haram great video just wondering how different is the 2003 V^ Touareg transmission from the one in your video.? others are showing the vcalve body removed from the touareg without removing the transmission. Transgo say the same. i have the commonly reported problem of 5th down to 4th bad clunk which it seems are caused by the valve body. What do you think. Cheers mike from Aus
Hi Hiram, i got my valve body installed and your videos were a great help. Unfortunately, now i have a P0798 pressure control solenoid DTC. i installed a valve body i bought from a company in North Carolina called Revmax. my installation went well but i'm not sure what i did wrong. The transmission will let me select park and reverse, but when i put in drive, the transmission selects 5th gear.Any suggestions you might have would be b greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless! tom
Question why dint you just open it up upgrade the bushings . second youre just checking for ohms how about pressure test ? Is it holding its pressure ?
Did you ever solve the P0798 code, if yes how did you manage this? I also have a 03 TT with hard shifting problems, thinking of replacing the VB. But now I am not sure I want to do this bacause of the P0798 code you mention.
What if my reading on all the solenoids are 10 Ohms? All meaning all of the solenoids including the last two as well. Just for the record this is a 04 Beetle 2.0 4cyl. 6 speed automatic transmission.
Hiram, Im just about to take the valve body out of my sons 2007 Rabbit to do the Transgo job.. Are they any tips and tricks and precautions for removing the electrical connectors...I dont want to break them Many Thanks
WOW! This is so clear and well done. I learned a lot and am now considering trying the valve body replacement/rebuild before I try a new transmission. My big worry is damaging the electrical connections and causing more problems. QUESTION - how did you get the new caps mated the solenoids? Did it involve a press?
Hello! Thank's for video. I own VW Jetta 2005, 2.5l. And i have hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear, and it's doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold. So, will this kit help me? I can not take apart all the transmission, but i can do this kit with my valve body. Thank you!

Hi, I have 2005 jetta and done the shift kit install following this video bc of transmission issues that I have. This kit helped but I am still getting hard shifting when the car has been running for thirty minutes or more. My next steps are to reset the transmission control module and with some researh I have gotten to think that it could be the transmission temp sensor. Any comments or suggestion would greatly help. Thanks for your videos
I have this valve body that some one removed the solenoids there are six all have black connectors and one gray connector how do I know where to put them in corectly im lost only one of them look different at the top please help
Hi if its a valve body solinoid issue i have, would it register a fault code. Mine will reverse but when in drive you have to rev it hard then it goes slow like its stuck in a high gear. I fitted a new k1 clutch just in case.
Great video! I bought my daughter an '03 beetle with 09G that shifts very hard when it warms up, but OK when cold. 125K miles. Two questions: (1) would a valve body rebuild fix the hard when warm shifting? (2) Can valve body be removed with tranny in car? Thanks!
i recently rebuilt the 09g transmission, the reverse clutch pack was destroyed ant the front pump was bad. completly rebuilt transmission. installed reman valve body and the transmission engages reverse hard and when it shifts mainly 2nd to 3rd it revs up and then goes in gear. and sometimes on all other gears real rough hard supshift and down shift. please help. o I used global transmission fluid, im flushing it out and seems to still do the same thing.
Hi Hiram I have a 02 jetta automatic 2.0 it shifts hard goin into 2nd, all other gears are good. Should I do a oil drain n fill before anything else it only has 124000 miles on it, im thinking its low on fluid? Thank you
Hello Hiram, I really enjoy all your videos and helpful hints on rebuilding the 09g valve body. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S. I purchased the TransGo shift kit from our local transmission parts store,in Kansas city, MO. Ive been an auto technician for 31 years. Mainly Engine performance. I have a problem, with my valve body.I'm sure it would be pretty remedial for you. Unfortunately, not for me... I'm scared of it now. my question to you is are you familiar, of any reputable "09g" person I can ask for help. I will ship the valve body if necessary. thank you

Hola Hiram una pregunta tengo el codigo 17117 3rd gear incorrect ratio, de acuerdo a tu experiencia, crees que sea un problema mecanico overhaul necesario? o sera problema con valvebody. Mi tansmision es de un vw Passat '01 4 motion 5HP19. hi hiram . do you know what is the operating temperature of these 09g units . mine from an 03 audi tt is running around 100 C which seems really high to me . the distrubution pipe inside the atf cooler was broken so i removed it. just did the transgo kit on it but i didnt drill out the big spacer plate , just cleaned the bushings and drilled the small holes. i am now getting harsh shifts and huge flares on higher gears .the new transgo kit has 3 small drill bits and it seems the kit you are installing comes only with 2 drill bits . what are your thoughts
hi Hiram i have a question about a honda civic B4RA ,it has no reverse, what cut it be a possible cause .Iit,works perfectly in Drive but i can make work it in reverse.
thanks again ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,why you are enlarging those holes?why are you changing only one of those valves (ATSG says that you have to change 3 valves)? by the way I have done today exactly as you said so tomorrow I am going to test that (that is 09K trans. for VW transporter )how can I get more explanation about that job. you are perfect one ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thanks
Hi, I just my valvue body fixed i have no hard when running shiftting, but now i have delay hard shiting form N to D and D to N. Do you have and idea what is happening? Thks in advance
+Bornthor I can give you an update on my 09G valve body repair using the TransGo kit. After installing one of the TransGo kits and clearing the shift adapts the transmission shifted great. But it was never able to learn to shift without a bump between N and D the first thing after starting the car. I found that the K1 clutch pressure was low, at idle around 19 psi, much too low. Possible N92 Solenoid problem? Some days the transmission had no delay bump. As days got colder in the fall the N-D bump reoccurred each day until the transmission was warm. I did the adapts clear again along with this: Move shifter to R, wait 3 seconds then mover back to N and wait 3 seconds. Do this 10 times. Then move shifter from N to D, wait 3 seconds, move shifter back to N wait 3 seconds. Do this 10 times. This didn't help. I have no idea what went wrong with the rebuild of the solenoids with the TransGo kit. Next I installed a set of new small can solenoids I got from eBay seller vwpartfl. They completely eliminate the N to D delay bump and all shifts are great! I should add I have used TransGo shift kits on other types of transmissions with good results.
Hello from México!! I like your video!! I have a question? You have a kit of reparation for valve solenoid 090 for tiptronic transmison jetta sport 2013? Or you have a solenoid valve, and you can send the valve or the kit for reparation to México? Thanks!!!
Hi can you please tell me how many transmission fluid take (Quartz) to fill a empty 09g transmission from my 2003 Audi tt. I had to buy a used one from junk yard and they empty fluids.
after those solenoids heat up, the resistance usually raises high pulling less current and not able to do their jobs... that's why you get hard shifts on those when the trans heats up.. I just prefer to buy new solenoids, possible entire valve body if within the budget.. I have one coming up I have to do... blahhhh
i did. i dropped the pan again, and disconnected and reconnected all the electronic connections, making sure they were all connected properly. then i turned the key on and selected reverse, neutral, and drive. i slid the shiftlever over and was able to upshift the transmission manually from 1st to 2nd. Hi, Hiram, amazing videos. Can I ask what the torque is on the 09G Valve Body TransGo Shift Kit Intall
Is this the best bet when trying to fix a jerky/harsh shifting transmission or should i shell out the extra cash to just buy a new set of solenoids?
It would be great to see how you put the valve body in. Is it very difficult? I am thinking about changing out the valve body in my daughters 2005 2.5 Jetta.
Wow. You clearly have done this before!
Great video. I am going to try doing this. Here goes nothing.
gr8 video is the valve body on this video the same as the one used on a 2003 vw beetle 2.0L
Thank you very much , Mr.Hiram
I fix my valve.

how do you put end caps on solenoid, and where can i order that?
im taking this as a project for the next few days ! wish me good luck lol
What you need to install new solenoids? You need special equipment to insert the coils with the unit?
FYI I saw "90" on his torque wrench at 23:29. That will be 90 inch pounds or 10.2nm, which isn't that tight.

what affect does transgo kit have on the shifting of the transmission is firm or shortyer gear shit over lap. Thanh PS great video
Thanks for the video !! it help me a lot
Hiram, why were you enlarging some of the holes? Is that what the shift kit you purchased called for? Thanks, good video.
Why the holes in the strip drill?

Thank you!
can you please post the valve body torque settings please. great video
8Nm + 90degree
Hiriam why did you enlarge the port on the valve body gasket? I did a similar job on this same unit, but did not perform that procedure.
Hi Hiram. Great videos
I have the 6F21WA out of a 2006 mini cooper. The car drives for about 10 minutes and then acts like its in neutral. I don't mind diving into this, i just wonder if it could be VB or software computer issues? It does seem to have a wind to it and throwing code p0734
any help would be awesome
спасибо.очень хорошее видео. Thanks.

hi i just wanted to know can you clean the solenoids with carb cleaner or just the drill bit
H Hiram, excellent explanation & Material, how much torque do you apply on the bolts on the final assembly?, thanks
These valve bodies are known for wearing out the internal bores, so this kit which addresses the solenoids, won't help much there.
What problems this shift kit prevents or fix i would like to know Thanks
Great video! I bought my daughter an '03 beetle with 09G that shifts very hard when it warms up, but OK when cold. 125K miles. Two questions: (1) would a valve body rebuild fix the hard when warm shifting? (2) Can valve body be removed with tranny in car? Thanks!
Yes you can remove VB from beneath car. You have good access after removing trans fluid pan.
i recently rebuilt the 09g transmission, the reverse clutch pack was destroyed ant the front pump was bad. completly rebuilt transmission. installed reman valve body and the transmission engages reverse hard and when it shifts mainly 2nd to 3rd it revs up and then goes in gear. and sometimes on all other gears real rough hard supshift and down shift. please help. o I used global transmission fluid, im flushing it out and seems to still do the same thing.
Hi Hiram I have a 02 jetta automatic 2.0 it shifts hard goin into 2nd, all other gears are good.

Hello Hiram, I really enjoy all your videos and helpful hints on rebuilding the 09g valve body. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S. Hello Hiram, your explanation is so helpful. Bro I really need your help. My friend's dad is a mechanic working with 09G transmission for years, the point is that he knows how to clean the solenoids and make the change and repair the valve body using the TransGo pieces. Alonso Mendoza when this happens the solenoid needs to be adjusted in increments of 1.5 turns. The mechanic will have to gradually adjust to fine tune the shift point.
I lost a piece in the valve body called the lube limit valve. Where can I buy this part?
Did this improve performance or make any difference at all?
Is brake cleaner the best for getting the parts clean??
Ok I have a mk5 jetta 2.5l non dsg... I have the g195 output speed sensor and I know I have to take out the tranny pan and it's somewhere in the valve body... my issue is I removed all bolts and it hasn't popped off
what do you do if your valvebody has the small can solenoids?
What problem were you having that lead you to rebuilding the Valve Body?
I have a 2006 Beetle that I am working on now. After it warms up, about 10 miles, it has a shudder/harsh shift into 3rd gear.
+Nigel Loller I replaced the entire valve body (with a remanufactured unit) and it took care of the issue.
I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne, will this work same way for my valve body?
grasias por el video hiram me ayudo mucho.
Wouldn't it be better to check the resistance solenoids outside of the valve body?
Thanks buddy, I dare to buy used VWs....now.
thank you for this video . i dont understand why do you make enlargment of the bores ???
and if I cleaned them as shown it help? diagnosis but shows nothing

What are the torque values for the 09g valve body. I saw one person say 8nm + 90 degrees. Is this correct.
Please do u have repair procedure for cvt JF011E that scan tool says fluid pressure low.its a Nissan Altima 2007.

Hi, It's verry good job Any thinks for you
hi hiram . do you know what is the operating temperature of these 09g units . mine from an 03 audi tt is running around 100 C which seems really high to me . the distrubution pipe inside the atf cooler was broken so i removed it. just did the transgo kit on it but i didnt drill out the big spacer plate , just cleaned the bushings and drilled the small holes.
i am now getting harsh shifts and huge flares on higher gears .the new transgo kit has 3 small drill bits and it seems the kit you are installing comes only with 2 drill bits . what are your thoughts
Gigi Kent ever resolve this issue?
hi Hiram i have a question about a honda civic B4RA ,it has no reverse, what cut it be a possible cause .Iit,works perfectly in Drive but i can make work it in reverse.
thanks again ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,why you are enlarging those holes?why are you changing only one of those valves (ATSG says that you have to change 3 valves)?
by the way I have done today exactly as you said so tomorrow I am going to test that (that is 09K trans. for VW transporter )how can I get more explanation about that job.
you are perfect one ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thanks

+Juan Ceballos How is your car doing now? Its been 6 months or so. I'm having the same problem. Did you reset your adaptive shift?
Thanks!!!
hey hiram i would like to know how much it cost total to repair that VW valve body?? please
Hi can you please tell me how many transmission fluid take (Quartz) to fill a empty 09g transmission from my 2003 Audi tt. I had to buy a used one from junk yard and they empty fluids.
I believe it is 7and half quarts. Torque converter included. Hope this helps.
Nothing like Sunbelt Valve bodies videos. Sorry folks.
after those solenoids heat up, the resistance usually raises high pulling less current and not able to do their jobs... that's why you get hard shifts on those when the trans heats up.. I just prefer to buy new solenoids, possible entire valve body if within the budget.. I have one coming up I have to do... blahhhh
