@@AdventureColorado Do you happen to recall what its called exactly and size please, am not good with this hehee and trying as you said"the least expensive way as Windham guys selling a hand guard for over 150 ++ , to mount a vertical grip in-front, thanks again,
Big thanks for this video. My LGS told me there was no way to mount anything to the plastic rail, but with all those holes along the bottom I knew there had to be a way. Looks great cant wait to try it myself.
Thanks for the useful info. Just got the rail and grip in a combo pack for dirt cheap. I need the extra support when aiming cause I got nerve damage in my lower back. This grip helps out a lot.
just a tip for you AR owners on a budget (or who just don't feel like buying the delta ring tool): a 12" crescent with rubber grips on the handles works just as well. if the rubber is too short, use a little rubber tape.
Good idea if I made the video it would be rated "R" for profanity lol the M16A2 in the corps used to pop on and off so easy but we did clean them constanly
I wish I saw this before I ordered and installed my quad rail. I was shocked at how heavy it was... Noticed how thick it was and wished I could remove the weight of the rails I wasn't using.
Thank you this was very simple, informative, and helpful. Obviously, an easy process, at least, once you've seen this video. My Delta ring is pretty stubborn and I don't have weak hands, but for this, I think I'll be fine.
I would add a small drop of Loctite blue just to keep them from backing out. I prefer the look of the OEM handguards on my retro rifle. I have another AR that I have Magpul furniture on it. I like the idea of adding a grip to handguards
I believe it's a cheap, old BSA scope on that rifle. It really wasn't a great scope, I don't know what the model is, but I would definitely recommend something else.
This kind of rail would work, but I would consider a free float handguard. It would provide a more rigid mount for the 308 platform. The 308s tend to be heavier rifles and heavier recoil.
Thank you for making this. Very insightful. I think it's funny that I literally went to every single gu͏n store in my town and not one of them carried this type of rail. So the rail added to the factory handguard and the grip are not Yankee Hill Products, they were CAA, which aren't available anymore. I put it under the heat shield to protect the parts, but I wouldn't be too concerned about them melting unless you are using a really high firing rate.
@@AdventureColorado Thanks for the update. The cheapest rail I can find to fit the stock hand guard is $30. So, I went ahead and got the Magpul hand-guard and front grip since it eliminates the need to attach a rail. Together they were only about $52.
I bought some M-LOK rails to try this on my M&P 15 rifle. The holes in the rail did not line up with the holes in the standard handguard. What rail type/system are you using that they line up?
I just purchased the sport S & W AR-15, it doesn't have heat shields in the barrel. I found this out when I was adding the rail. Isn't there supposed to be a heat shield? It is a brand new gun.
