In this clip, Damion Hall gave his take on R. Kelly seemingly biting Aaron Hall's visual style and sound. Damion said he believes Aaron missed an opportunity to align himself with R. Kelly early on and use his young energy to further extend his career. He also recounted being told by label executives that he'd never be as big a star as Aaron. All the while, Damion's debut album was outperforming his brother's project released at the same time.

Everyone around that time was doing the new jack swing style. R.kelly was able to evolve and stay current when ever music changed.
Because R changed the music climate.
I agree. But thats because Kelly is musically gifted (savant syndrome). Based on the stats, Kelly is also 1 of only 5 Black artists of the top 55 artists of all time in music sales history.

Most confusing video ever. Good song though..
R.Kelly did originally take Aaron's style and swag until he came into his own. The same way Avant copied R.Kelly years later
Then came Trey Songs who copied R Kelly too
I think the genius in Kelly was that at that point Bobby was the sht and he dethroned him without anybody noticing

There is no anymosity between Aaron Hall, Charlie Wilson, & R.Kelly. They respect each other's influence and style. Collectively they are truly talented. R.Kelly is a musical genius the way he incorporates their styles vocally and musically. Much respect to them all.
Imagine an R. Kelly and Aaron Hall collaboration album
That type of collaboration doesn't make any sense. They are in the same music category and they sound similar. Neither of their fanbase would increase. Britney Spears and R. Kelly would make better sense. They used to be label mates and her fans are loyal. Plus Kellz already wrote a hit record for her back in 2004.

R. Kelly AND Aaron Hall switched to the shaved look because of Michael Jordan, who happened to become friends with Kelz around '93.

They ALL stole their vocal style from Stevie Wonder... Even they daddy Charlie Wilson sounds like Stevie
Charlie and his lineage have a heavier timbre to their voices and they don't bend notes quite as well as Stevie...The closest Stevie Wonder clones are Jay Kay of Jamiroquai and Glenn Lewis. They have the vocal timbre, the range and the phrasings... Glenn Lewis, especially.

All R Kelly did was shave his head. 12 play sounds nothing like anything Aaron hall put out
There are most definitely a few songs on 12 Play that sounds like a Guy record. However, before that R. Kelly was with MGM and then Public Amouncement and even then he sounded a lot like Aaron, vocally style, riffs and content
My thoughts exactly
Crazy they couldn’t see the value I having both Aaron & Dameon. I was OBSESSED with Satisfy!!! Still okay it to death!🎶🎶🔥🔥🔥
R.Kelly didn't take Aaron's style to me at all. He came out with his own thang, the man could just sing and he put out more music. He worked harder and made sure he stayed relevant. Guy stopped making music after that they had that mega hit Let's Chill and R. Kelly kept going and putting up hits.

R kelly n Aaron Hall were both vocalist on "U Will Know" off Jason Lyric Soundtrack they sound very similar.
For people to keep saying Kelly stole Aaron's or Stevie's sound that's impossible, you can't steal the way your voice sounds either your a tenor or your not, one thing Kelly didn't steal was his songwriting skills if Aaron had any he would have stayed relevant
R kelly got a vision as a artist and expanded as a songwriter and producer singer and performer,Aaron Hall is talented however didn't have the drive as Kellz and he didn't expand as a solo artist, both got game off Charlie Wilson, however R Kelly is the last most dominant Artist in R&B and got his own lane musically speaking
I think the industry kinda pushed R Kelly that way but they are 2 seperate talents. Pretty much after that album R went a completely different way and kept growing.
