This has been astonishing, a deft touch to pull the near future off & fantastically topical. It has been filled with highs and lows. I just cannot praise RTDavies enough. I wasn't fussed about Dr Who but my oh my if this, now this is my cup of tea. Season 2!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I'd like a season 2, I don't think it will happen. I think Years and Years is just a one off drama. It's not one of those shows that NEED a season 2, it was good enough without one. As much as I'd love a season 2, i don't think they'd be able to pull it off as well without Russell Tovey's character Daniel present, as he was thought to have been one of the main guys. Still, such an amazing show, I'd recommend this show to the universe and back!

Being from Jamaica, Celeste gave me 100% life and 200% more: "...yu mek a sad mistake" and "tek yu rawse out yah" most iconic lines of the tv show. Also wished Tovey's character n his lover didn't go on that stupid boat :'(

Just started watching this. OMG it is amazing. There's so much to chew on it's not funny. It is more than just what would the UK be like if you had a Trump like populist leader. It also shows how much of the choices we've made such as being passive with our finances and family/community breakdown and the rampant self-absorption. There is so much food for thought here it's not funny. Hands down some of the best tv and storytelling I have ever seen in ages. Hats off to the Beeb for producing this!

I think is they do a second season it should be that instead of following a family in the U.K., we follow one in the U.S., and see how the things we've been hearing about from the British News actually look to those in the U.S.
They did some filming of this on Altcar whilst I was doing my SCIC in feb; made us yomp round the camp because they blocked the shortcut

I really enjoyed this series, sure it seemed at start was going to be all pc with the very diverse characters as if to tick all boxes, but due to the clever writing i found it enjoyable and not nearly as focused on each chars difference as i expected it to be but rather about the world around them and how it affects them as a whole.

Love Emma and Russel and the creator is an awesome story teller. Trailer doesn’t really give much away though, does it? Still, will definitely be adding this one to the watch list. In between episodes of Gay and Loathing in Bris Vegas.

I think the problem with RTD is that he's basically a domestic drama writer who bolts stuff on to try and make it Sci-Fi (Doctor Who) or in this case dystopian elements that are better handled by shows like Black Mirror.

first things first... great music, great acting..BUT the show is full of BBC - PC bullshit, a liberal middle class family that makes really stupid decisions , every diverse person catered for and forced into one show, a Trump bashing extravaganza, and Anti-Brexit tone that's quite sickening.. And half funded by the TV licence payer who have no choice, At least the Americans choose to pay for HBO ..
It would be interesting if they set it in the year 2050 where the muslim population is estimated to rise from 6% to 17% of the UK and London will have a white minority. Somehow I doubt the BBC will touch these topics with a barge pole. Except to say it's all great and "diversity is our strength!" Would be interesting TV though. Though I hope the "trans human" thing is taking the mickey and not actually serious!
Terrible series, it has a stupid and boring argument, anti-values are promoted, what it does show is the hypocrisy and incoherence of the middle class.
To be fair. Apart from all the PC nonsense. The ending was quite good of episode 1. [spoiler] Until they got to the gay sex.

So far we've only had gay men sex and gay men robot sex. I'm glad you're enjoying watching the gay sex though. Only straight sex was shown was the straight "porn" and apparently that's disgusting but showing gay sex is fine.
