I've been trying to share this show for months on Facebook, I've tried to tell my friends, co-workers and family but I'm terrible about retelling and going on tangents. I shared your explanation! It's perfect, its everything I wanted to share and couldn't say!
What I love about Rosie is that majority of middle-class/educated millennials would discard her in real life as a possible friend, knowing her political preferences (although don't get me wrong, at some point mainstream opinion was that Trump or Brexit would never happen and yet here we are). BUT she is such a loveable character, she's entrepreneurial, outgoing, resilient, funny and charming, she lives her life with no compromises. I love how the writers humble us and teach us with her character that we should always reach ahead of political opinions to see humans, not only Labour / Trump / PiS / whatever supporters.
I think the incongruity of the anarchist characters is intentional and very realistic. People in real life actually function like that. And most importantly, it shows how even “good” characters can help bring about despots. And the fact that in the end they change their mind is supposed to be inspiring.
I found it very realistic for that reason. This story spans over years and years :) Just think back how did you think 10 years ago. I certainly could bring several examples from my life when I did a 180 on my views. In fact I did my 180s on similar situations.
Also, the "bananas are gone" comment b/c currently the type of banana we eat is under attack from a tree infection that will one day infect and kill them all. What the show forgets is...that exact same thing has already happened once, I think like 70yrs ago. I believe the last banana that is now gone was sweeter and tastier than the one we currently prefer. However, there are still like 70 different species of banana plants that our food suppliers will choose once our current favorite is fully decimated by Panama disease, which is totally resistant to fungicides
Looking back at the programme from 2024 it quite striking how close the reality is matching the fiction. The time line in the programme may be out, the UK has yet to see a popularist politician emerge, yet it all seems very familiar. Unlike much of Russle T Davis"s ' work this programme can not be found on any free to view streaming services.
It’s literally modern family in the future, I’m scared for my electric bills though, I wish I did have the guts to go outside naked it’ll be another money saving idea. I like the show and I hope I get time to see it in 15 years after 2019
I don't agree with the negative aspects you mentioned at the end. I think you just don't understand the cutting edge of current science enough yet and how close we are to this actually. No grudges, science is hard and there is no clear picture of the future, but as someone who is deeply invested in researching the technologies of the future I think this is the only show that portrayed transhumanism in any acceptably accurate way so far. But it is still a story. It's a thought experiment. Of course it will get some assumptions wrong but it is a very captivating touching story that helps us prepare emotionally to the kind of changes that will face us. Another favorite of mine is Westworld for similar reasons.
First of all, I don't understand why the gay brother had to get on the boat with his boyfriend. Why the hell didn't he just travel back to the UK with his passport and meet his boyfriend after he got there on the boat?
@@jamiemitchell2861 - ok. Musta missed that. But he's not the first person to lose a passport. Pretty sure most people who lose their passports go to their embassy and get a replacement, they don't pay Albanian mobsters for a seat on a raft to sneak back to their country. Not to mention, aren't passports "breath verified" - it would probably be super easy to go to his embassy, breathe in a machine to prove who he is and get on a plane back home. The show is so mediocre. I hate how I can't stop watching each episode in hopes it gets better. Lol
His passport gets stolen, he has a meltdown right after screaming and crying. Viktor tells him to leave, that he can go back to Britain if he explains that his passport was stolen but Daniel tells him that he's not leaving him behind. Hence why he got on the boat with him (fun fact Viktor was the one that was supposed to die during that scene but the actor that plays Daniel convinced RTD to make his character die instead. Much much more impactful that way imo)
What do you figure as a spoiler? I took a lot of care limiting the video to things like the trailers and before the third act of the premiere episode, or brief clips and images that wouldn't give away developments of the series.
You should write the crap that we’re about to experience here in the United States after Trump gets his second term or if he loses either way it’s gonna be an absolute ridiculous show in the fall
Great analysis, you did a great job. You deserve an award, thanks for a better understanding of society.

That's so lovely to hear! Glad you enjoyed!
You may also enjoy the 2023 series "Extrapolations," which has a very similar premise but very different style.

Love the use of Casandra’s theme when talking about Emma Thompson!
Glad you noticed! It seemed fitting!
Michael Kwawu that’s what is was! Knew I recognised it!

😬
Apparently the striking vocals in the soundtrack were done by a Bulgarian women's choir.
Thanks for the review. I've seen the first 3 eps on HBO and I'll watch the rest.
A show noone should miss.
What is the image from at 3:42
That's from the fifth episode of the show!
Who Cares? Thanks! I recognised it but I couldn’t remember where it was from
It's fucking men in black international

I think Nigel Farage is aiming to be that guy, if not this election then the next one.
@Wrenn180 if you mean the politician in the programme, let's hope so as they ended up in prison🤣
What does it mean if I like watching content about other content about society .
🤔It's a good question, now we're wondering what does it mean if we like making content about other content about society?
Everyone should watch it!
seems relevant today
its the best thing i have ever seen (and i have seen A LOT)
Nice Torchwood soundtrack! ;)

Lmao you think transhumanism is good
🤡🤡🤡🤡
I hope there is a season 2 love this show.
It would destroy the ending an spin off is for the best
So, I guess this is what COVID saved us all from...
Or are we just heading that way
It’s what’s setting the stage
Jreg got me here from the word transhumanism

Grant Trent his passport got stolen

oh corona
Nice video, but it actually has spoilers from the show...

It spoils a lot less than than RTD's own interviews and comments...!

Political maverick it’s a shit portrayal of Katie Hopkins.
The moral of this series is.....
The Woke will inherit the earth.
Invest in a pop-filter mate
Its a fascinating, entertaining show
But its also very pro left/progressive and somewhat disturbingly paranoid.
You only THINK you’re paranoid.
She sounds like Trump I like her
She is. She gets richer while the people who vote for her get poorer
@@user-mb9nm7bq5e Liz Truss wore the same dress as Vivienne Rook.
boring and simplistic tv show
Not really 👀
