Thanks! I’m definitely going to try this. I’m not so much concerned about the cold, but the heat (I’m in TN). The attic access is on the ceiling of my linen closet & the air conditioned house right next to the uninsulated attic hatch causes so much humidity in the closet that the inner walls are always dripping with water & getting moldy.
Thanks for this! I have an attic door in my room and it's is always the coldest room in the house because of the lack of insulation. Will have to try this soon.
@@korndawggy1801 Regardless of the wind, insulation won't be effective if it isn't held tightly against whatever surface it's supposed to be insulating. If there's any air gaps between the insulation and the plywood, the insulation's effectiveness will be significantly compromised. To make matters worse, the plywood and/or foam board likely won't be perfectly flat to begin with. Adhesive is most definitely the way to go for securing foam insulation to plywood.
Can some one please address the settling effect of cellulose please? I had 10 plus inches of cellulose blown in several years ago. Went up recently to install security cams. All of that cellulose has sank to the rafter tops. As in it's ALL GONE. Cellulose is a waste of money. It settles over time. Like you just tossed all that cash out the window. At least pink panther fiberglass stays put.
Thanks boss just found where a huge part of the cooling issue is coming from and this is a simple solution

Thanks Doug. Easy to listen to and valuable information!

Thanks Doug, just what I needed..
Hey thanks for the tip! I love insulation projects...
Good video, thanks for the tip!
Double sided duct tape has a minimum hold temperature of 30°F. I recommend using an adhesive in cold locations.
Exactlt what I noticed
Well, unless it's really windy in your attic, it's probably not gonna go anywhere.

Recommended adhesives?
Simple solution...
But I would lower the access panel to almost flush to home ceiling. Also I believe fire vode requires 5/8" drywall.
Awesome! Just saved me a lot of time and money.
2 yrs later did it save u money
how much money did u save?!?!
Are you rich yet?
I used styrofoam adhesive instead of duct tape. The tape bothers me 1) because I don't think it will last very long, and 2) duct tape is flammable.
So is all the wood in your attic.
The tape will become dry and brittle in the heat

Great idea but I worry that uncovered foam board is code.
The foam board says it needs some type of protection from combustion. Any suggestions?
There are MANY types of foam...if one does not suit keep looking! Search for fireproof foam board?
Dancing
Don't cook or smoke crack in your attic
