Hi Dave I would just like to say you are the most honest guy in the world same as me, sometimes people will crush our personalities but keep going sir! I’m a new subscriber
Had for a couple of years and they work well. Just don’t forget to remove them before you take off. They look like the tires and a last minute walk around may miss them.
We just got a set of those a short time ago for our coach. We need to always remember to install ours prior to airing down and leveling as it makes it too hard to get our arms in to install them. Otherwise we love them and yes they do look great.
Rick, Good Tip! I would have to agree with that seeing you need to be able to reach over the top of the tire and when you drop the coach, it could make it harder to put into place. (Not just for these covers, but for any that slip over.)
Hi...See followers...I was not kidding that we buy things. :) (Sometimes at a discount mind you, but not usually and surely not in this case.) Glad you liked the video. We have some great followers so maybe that will lead to some new sales. Now, about that windshield cover. :)
Well this came at the right time for us, we get our new Michelin tires on Thursday! Tires are not cheap so will take a look at the tire covers, thanks.
Ever take off with those covers still on? My GF made custom fit Sunbrella covers for my RV and boat trailer tires. They cover the sidewalls as well as the threads. We used the top of the line Sunbrella material that is guaranteed for ten years. The covers were made from an old boat cover that was over twenty years old and still looked great. Yes, I replaced that boat cover for a brand new Sunbrella item.
Welcome back Dave, haven't seen you for a while. Those tire covers were awesome have never seen them before. Will definitely keep those in mind. PS: you look great, you look like you've lost some weight.
Thanks for noticing the weight. I am also pleased with myself in that regard. And yes, it has been some time. More to come soon though, so thanks for still subscribing. (As you know, we don't post to post just to make an income.)

Just replaced my Michelin tires right at 6 years old due to cracks, I cover them 95% of the time with "white" covers, black covers can be 20 degrees hotter than white and heat is another factor. We stop usually for 7 to 14 days and once a year for 30 days. Interestingly the outside of the tires had cracks the inside sidewalls did not. ...safe travels.
Insult my white tire covers all you want but I've known since we got our rv 3 years ago to cover our tires and why. Also to not use any kind of petroleum distilliats on the tires. I use 303 protectant to not only make them look better but protect them from uv. Yours look really nice. Might have to upgrade to a set of those but I want to wait a little while and see if you forget they're even there and drive off with them still on. Lol. P.S. David you look like you've lost some weight, way to go.(no pun intended). Safe and fun travels you two!
LOL...I thought the same thing on driving off!!! I made a note that I put in the cabinet where there slide out switches are to remind me to remove them!!!! :) I was not insulting your covers...I just find then ugly for us seeing we have a dark coach and the white covers would just be totally out of place. :) You are correct in not using any petroleum based products on the tires. In fact, that will void the warranty if you have an issue any they test for it. I also used 303 on them...but I guess not often enough. And yes, lost weight! Thanks for noticing and I am very happy with myself in that regard!
Hey dave does this mean u have to replace all your tires due to the cracks? If by any chance you do replace them please make a video on it and the procedure to replace all your tires plus typical cost of full tire replacement
I have the Magnashade windshield cover. I really like the owner..cool guy and love my front shade. I will not however, spend that much money to save less than 5 minutes putting on tire covers. You still have to put them on before you dump your air and you still have to reach around the tire and get the top of your forearms all full of dirt and grease. As I think about retirement, I am rethinking how much I spent and what the real return on the investment is.
Yup, understood. Seeing we have a dark looking coach, the white slip on covers would just really look out of place to us. (but thats us.) You know how David likes to keep the coach. :)

Haha your never going to this one down. I like the looks of them, but I've heard that the advantage of white is that it keeps the tires cooler as well.
Gary - tires are designed to withstand heat. It’s the Sun’s UV rays that destroy them. Standard black covers protect better because they surround the entire outside tires. After three years using Adco’s black covers my tires look brand new.
Hi Ya... It is hand on a case by case basis. If I was to say they replaced them, that goes not mean they would say that to someone else. But in any case, they would be prorated like most warranties.
I would never put black on black, especially in hot weather. It's like put your hand on a black car in Az when it's 115 degrees, then put your hand on a white car. Almost impossible to touch black car. What do you think the black shades are doing to the tires. I worked in tires many years, have seen many dried out tires. As for Armour All, as someone stated, keep theep it off yor tires. 303 is the best for for tires, slide seals, window, everything on an RV. If your sitting for long periods of time, use it maby monthly, if you are moving all the time, every six months.
I go with the white Covercraft snap ring covers because they reflect light and keep the tires from solar heating. The black covers absorb heat and some of that heat transfers to the tires. I'm not quite so shallow that looks are that important. But I guess for some people, looks are more important. I call those people, insecure.
I wonder about us northerners, I have michelin tires but my rig sits in the winter months when the sun is way down in the southern sky would UV rays be a problem in that case? Not really asking you, just throwing it out there, does anyone know the answer?
I would have to think UV light is like any light in regards to reaching something. So if it can touch something, it can can also be destructive. As with such things, the more of it the worst it surely could be.
Thanks Dave for being human ; ) These unique covers may have me sold as well as previously, I did not like shielding the wheel and the inner workings along with the tire. Someone else inquired below but it bears repeating; I realize that silicone based tire sprays for 'shine' are not good for unprotected tire protection (while in motion) but what about advanced protection agents like 303 Aerospace? TY : )
I've never seen a Michelin tire that does NOT dry rot before the warranty is up. You are lucky they did anything, normally they won't do anything and refer you to the dealer who will refer you back to Michelin. btw- Re: tire covers - white or light colors reflect while the dark colors absorb the heat.
David, did you pay for the tire covers or did Magna shade give them to you at a discount or for free? I wonder if 303 aerospace protectant would negate having to use the covers. Even with the paraffin issue.
@@DavidBott Do you think even with the tire covers there will still be cracks over time? The Paraffin will still not be circulating. The tire covers still may not be enough.
David you haven't announced if your having OOB 2020? I hope your still going to host it. If your not going to host will you be just hanging out at Quartzsite for a informal get together. I will be the first one to say I'll come.
It doesn't. It blocks UV light that makes for the issues. When the tires are used, the paraffin keeps the tires softer thus help to keep it from cracking.
@@DavidBott most people don't know that you can buy plastic inserts that bolt directly to the rim underneath the tire and will stop you from ever being stranded from a flat tire for only $40 to $60 per wheel
And if you keep Armor All on your tires once you do it enough it will soak into the Rubber and you won't have the ultraviolet bleaching issues like other RV owners
Lol!!! You will never live it down now. Lol!!! Good to see you posting again. Did he give you any idea how long you could park without needing tire covers? Even when we are not using it I try to drive it every two weeks just to keep the chassis batteries charged and fluids circulated. Should I still be using tire covers?
It is the UV that causes the tire to crack. The paraffin is not moved throughout the tire keeping it soft so the UV can weaken it when it is just sitting being exposed for a long period.
I can understand covering your tires when parking in the sun for weeks or more at a time, but I don’t understand the need to cover them when parking for a few days at a time. I guess every hour is a small percent of the tires life. When I store my coach, it is a few feet from the coach next to it, so the tires really never get much sunlight. I guess I need to understand how much indirect UV light it gets.
I'm actually shocked at how many people don't know about the plastic run-flat inserts that bolt directly to the rim underneath the tire and will stop you from ever having a flat tire ever again for only $40 per wheel
Ok, how long was it before you forgot to remove the tire covers and started driving off with them still attached (do you have a note on your steering wheel)?
David Bott - that’s over $60+ dollars each !!! You must have more money than sense , no offense but if it were me ,you could of hired someone to do the same thing for 1/6 what you paid Oh Well !😢💵
Hey Mr David,we are new subscribers to your channel. We are looking to become novice rver's soon (not full time) just curious what was the outcome with Michelin rep with sidewall crack. Hopefully when we can get off the ground with our first,,we could possibly meet up with our dog and two kids, thanks for taking the time to read my email
I love my Magna shade tire covers But - they are very difficult to fold up I’ve had mine 2 months and every time I have to fold it takes me 45 to 60 minutes to fold up
Cross your arms in and fold like a figure 8. Done! :) (Well, you will get it. I should tell them to make a video. Oh heck, Brenda should make a video for them as she does it better than I.)
@@trike-hauler I am sorry to say I am not sure what to say here. They are a great looking solution for tire protection and while I have "issues" with folding them up...I suck at it....Brenda can do it without issue. :)
Hello, I've been in 60 mile an hour winds with them on the coach with no issue whatsoever. They didn't move one bit. Hope this helps. We still like them still use them and would still recommend them. If you order them tell him I said hi. :-)
As Russell mentioned, Andrew helps me along that line as he details our coach at least once a year. Other than that, I wash it and rinse it with Di water so I don't need to dry it as that can also make for more "spider web" type marks. So after it has been detailed, we use a ceramic spray to keep it like you see it. For the most part, now all I need to do is rinse the coach with Di water to get the dust off of it. Unless we drive it in rain, or if we are in a very dusty area and it rains dirt, I usually don't need to use a lambswool pad on it with soap. Just wet, foam cannon it, and rince with Di water for spotless drying.
I don't quite understand the reasoning here. If the lack of movement in distributing parafin throughout the tire is what causes cracking, how do covers fix the issue? Seems to me, even if tires aren't exposed to UV, they will still crack if left sitting idle for long periods of time. That's according to Michelin, not me. If it makes you feel better, cover them up. I think it's much better to jack up your vehicle/trailer when in storage and air down to 50% of running pressure. I understand you can't do this with a bus, but I have a feeling the cost of new tires every 7 years isn't a problem for you.
UV on the rubber that is not softened by the paraffin causes it to "age" and thus crack. It is not so much the heat as it is the actual UV light. (Like a sunburn is not caused by heat, but the UV) Per my face to face chat with Michelin and an inspector, once you start moving again, the paraffin again gets to move and soften the compound. I would rather put new tire money into buying a new coach then to buy new tires. Not sure about your comment of money. Do you own a house? We don't. This is our home. Just like a home owner, the cost in this case is nothing more than our monthly mortgage. The home we sold in 2013 was appraised at $300K. The price of our coach was $330K. So more or less we have the same monthly payment. (Just no longer have to pay $12K a year in property taxes from Upstate NY!!!) If we were to by another coach at some point, as long as the payment is around the same, we are just fine with that. I would much rather do that every 7 years than to put that money into tires. :)
True. :) I said they were not cheap based on how "cheep" the other type is that covers everything and are usually just white. These are actually very well made and look good too.
Covering the tires doesn't help only using them will or suspending them like collectors do, they never let cars sit on the tires for extended periods of time they put them on jack stands or drive them at least once a week and use a protectant
Dale Carlson when vehicles sit the tires will flat spot. If they sit uncovered they will flat spot and begin to crack due to degradation because of UV rays. It takes about 15 minutes of driving to work out the flat spots the cracks only get worse! Keeping the wheels off the ground only stops the flat spot.
@@larryreno8293 I think I meant collector cars which sit inside away from UV rays off the ground so they don't flat spot or start to crack. The message was driving not sitting is the only solution to stop cracking. I just changed the tires on my jeep they have been on there 10 years they where just starting to crack between the treads not on the side wall no special care ever given to them other than driving all the time.
Am in complete agreement with your opinion of white wheel covers - ugly. However, I’ve used Adco’s BLACK wheel covers for several years and don’t mind the look. They blend well with my coaches paint scheme, protect both the wheels and tires, and they don’t coast an arm & a leg. They also install quick and fit snug using their bunge cord system. Am using Magna Shade’s awesome front/side window screen shades. Wouldn’t be without them and can vouch for their quality, albeit at a price. In this case, no thanks.
I have been told it's not true and by the next person it is true. My covers are paid for, don't weigh anything, and take 5 min to put on. Tire guy says to put them on. I'm putting them on. Keep the videos going
There's another thing you have to admit David: What happened to the rest of you?? Your looking Great!! What are you doing? Pumping Iron?? RUNNING to the Store?? :-) Those are Pretty Darn'd Cool!! But what about a wind storm David? Will those things go flying into the Frisbee Goal?
Thanks for noticing. I have to say I am pleased with myself also. :) In regards to the wind...They are held in place with bungies so I really don't see them going anywhere.
Same answer...It is hand on a case by case basis. If I was to say yes, that goes not mean they would say that to someone else. But in any case, they would be prorated.
Anyone knows this ...... tires need to be used and protected, RV should be drive every 3-4 weeks for a min of an hour to warm them up and prevent flat spots. Not only should you put the covers on them , but use tire protection 303 on both inside and outside sidewalls .
Richard Wolfe 10000000% incorrect ! I dare you to call Michelin, continental,Toto Commerical time 800 and ask them . FMCA meeting Michelin and continental BOTH did presentations and explained why the tires need to be used and heated up.
Richard Wolfe oh the ignorance in your statements is unreal. You obviously haven’t done any research. Just like Dave didn’t think Sunlight didn’t do any damage, next videos from him will be either a blowout or getting all tires replaced . Rubber dries out if not used . Exactly like on a car that is stored too long , what happens ? Tires dry rot from not being used . Stop sitting on your brain and actually read technical document s
2:45 "They're not cheap". Nothing Dave Bott buys or uses is cheap. Him and my brother who has a $1.5 M Prevost Conversion should get together and compare their hi-tech accouterments. But big, expensive RV's you may as well spend the $$ for the best. I hardly ever see tire covers on cheap tag trailers........
@@DavidBott Please forgive me if I sounded disparaging, It was not my intention. I notice that you, like my brother, will do extensive research and usually obtain the best and highest quality of the support systems needed for this lifestyle. Cost is usually a secondary consideration. I admire that quality very much. Too many in our society think that high quality products are a rip-off when one can get the "same" thing for half the cost. The hidden problem there is....you buy it twice, if not more. This goes to everything from tire protectors, to sewer hoses, solar controllers, tires,....everything.
Your other reply came in via e-mail, so I wanted to reply. No worries, I just happened to mention it as people for some reason think we have a $1M coach and we surely do not. Though it is a very, very nice coach. :) You are right however, somethings that you pay for are worth it and thus is worth paying more for. This product is well made and I was very pleased with the construction when then arrived. And yes, you surely can buy products 1/2 the price sometimes, but you also run the chance at it being a knock-off. Then again, some RV products have inflated values for NO REASON other than they put the word RV on the box thus to just sell something to someone that just does not know better. I really hate that!!!!
Was there a shift in the time continuum, Dave wrong impossible!!! Hey Dave, have you lost a few pounds or has Brenda putting the whip to you for her honey do list. If so, keep it up Brenda. 🤣

David, don't understand how the covers solve the problem if the tire still isn't rolling down the road which helps distribute the paraffin?
It is the UV that causes the tire to crack. The paraffin is not moved throughout the tire keeping it soft so the UV can weaken it when it is just sitting being exposed for a long period.
David Bott. Thanks
Pretty cool
I'm actually shocked at how many people don't know about the plastic run-flat inserts that bolt directly to the rim underneath the tire and will stop you from ever having a flat tire ever again for only $40 per wheel
Good video and yeah Brenda
Thanks Debbie.
Are you still using the magnashades?
Pretty cool!
Ok, how long was it before you forgot to remove the tire covers and started driving off with them still attached (do you have a note on your steering wheel)?
What was the dollar damage on all 6 tires what was the overall total cost to you for the covers!
Hi...For my needs...Mine were $362.00 total with shipping for all six. (Size varies the price of course.)
So now that you've had them for a year, how are they holding up and what are your thoughts on them?
Hi...Yes, we still use them and I would still purchase them. They still look new!
Always learning. :) Those are very nice. Thanks to you 2.
Your welcome.
I love my Magna shade tire covers
But - they are very difficult to fold up
I’ve had mine 2 months and every time I have to fold it takes me 45 to 60 minutes to fold up
Cross your arms in and fold like a figure 8. Done! :) (Well, you will get it. I should tell them to make a video. Oh heck, Brenda should make a video for them as she does it better than I.)
David Bott
I do the fold figure 8 but for some reason doesn’t work most of the time
Magna has a video - I’ve watched it 6 dozen times
David Bott
Maybe if you make a video showing how you do it will be better
Hope you are able to do a video
@@trike-hauler I am sorry to say I am not sure what to say here. They are a great looking solution for tire protection and while I have "issues" with folding them up...I suck at it....Brenda can do it without issue. :)
How to they hold up on windy conditions?
Hello, I've been in 60 mile an hour winds with them on the coach with no issue whatsoever. They didn't move one bit. Hope this helps. We still like them still use them and would still recommend them. If you order them tell him I said hi. :-)
On a side note. How do you keep the outside of your rig so damn clean and shiny?
I know fellow UA-camr Andrew Steele does their coach when they’re on the West Coast.
@@DavidBott that makes sense. You sure have quite an impressive well maintained rig all around. My wife and I love your energy as well.
$350.00 for a set is a lot cheaper than having to buy new tires great find nice to see you making some videos again
You don't have to drive it you only have to push it forward so that the tire rotates 180 degrees
Richard Wolfe Doing that usually gives you octagons for tires. Driving it gets the tires up to operating temp and the flat spots work themselves out.
@@larryreno8293 I own 17 cars and have bought and sold hundreds over the years don't try to tell me about how tires are
Is that RV bigger than your house?
It was our house for 9 years that we lived full time on the road. We sold everything in 2013 and just bought a home again looking to setting down.
Nice!
This guy drinks his fair share of coffee every day 🤭
I like those there cool👍👍👍
I have been told it's not true and by the next person it is true. My covers are paid for, don't weigh anything, and take 5 min to put on. Tire guy says to put them on. I'm putting them on.
Keep the videos going
File under, "Old dog, new tricks."
This dude is wealthy with that sick ass huge RV! Batshit probably cost twice as much as my 🏡
Not bad dude
I am in shock that YOU were wrong
I know right! :)
Yep, paraffin is a type of wax.
There's another thing you have to admit David: What happened to the rest of you?? Your looking Great!! What are you doing? Pumping Iron?? RUNNING to the Store?? :-)
Those are Pretty Darn'd Cool!!
But what about a wind storm David? Will those things go flying into the Frisbee Goal?
Thanks for noticing. I have to say I am pleased with myself also. :) In regards to the wind...They are held in place with bungies so I really don't see them going anywhere.
I covered my trailer tires and I felt they cracked up faster...🤨
Same question. Is Michelin going to replace your tires?
Same answer...It is hand on a case by case basis. If I was to say yes, that goes not mean they would say that to someone else. But in any case, they would be prorated.
Anyone knows this ...... tires need to be used and protected, RV should be drive every 3-4 weeks for a min of an hour to warm them up and prevent flat spots. Not only should you put the covers on them , but use tire protection 303 on both inside and outside sidewalls .
All you got to do is pull it forward and rotate the tires 180 degrees you don't have to actually drive it
Richard Wolfe 10000000% incorrect ! I dare you to call Michelin, continental,Toto Commerical time 800 and ask them . FMCA meeting Michelin and continental BOTH did presentations and explained why the tires need to be used and heated up.
@@ryanp135 yeah I dare you to call Totally biased companies that are profit based and take their opinion like it's fact
@@ryanp135 are you really that dumb?
Richard Wolfe oh the ignorance in your statements is unreal. You obviously haven’t done any research. Just like Dave didn’t think Sunlight didn’t do any damage, next videos from him will be either a blowout or getting all tires replaced . Rubber dries out if not used . Exactly like on a car that is stored too long , what happens ? Tires dry rot from not being used . Stop sitting on your brain and actually read technical document s
Much nicer I agree
👋😊
2:45 "They're not cheap". Nothing Dave Bott buys or uses is cheap. Him and my brother who has a $1.5 M Prevost Conversion should get together and compare their hi-tech accouterments. But big, expensive RV's you may as well spend the $$ for the best. I hardly ever see tire covers on cheap tag trailers........
Hey...Our Tiffin coach was only around $350K.... Just wanted to mention that as people for some reason think it is much more. :)
I’d forget and drive off with them still on😢👨🏼🔧
Yeah, I bet it'd be REAL easy to drive off with those things on. I would prefer the color red. You'd never miss RED tire covers!!
Was there a shift in the time continuum, Dave wrong impossible!!!
Hey Dave, have you lost a few pounds or has Brenda putting the whip to you for her honey do list.
If so, keep it up Brenda. 🤣
I just lost weight...thanks for noticing. If you go back in history in the videos, I have to say, I am amazed myself. I will also say I am loving it as I can do much more and I am, and now need to be, more active. (You will find out why soon!)
Praying for good health and many more miles
Michelin should honor their warranty those tire are dangerous
As long as you don't forget to take them off, would be a shame to waste that money,
Noooo protect the chrome too..very pointless
if you can afford a million dollar rv. and your worried about tires? but then i burn out tires before they could fade out. and i own a 2001 paid for decades back rv.
just today new shoes for it. under 7 bills. and they are not china bombs.
Tire covers are BS, i have a 2022 Wolfpack 25pack12 38ft toy hauler, i just blew 3 tires on a 2hr trip. F. Y. Forest river. Just buy decent made in USA 10ply tires. How many parked cars do you see with Tire covers. A real tire even in the sun will last for many years. My brother has 20yr old classic cars. Many with original tires. Just buy decent tires
Did I see a dog 🐕😃 kids 😃 🙏🏻
Are you talking about the wolf carving by the door? (But....Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) :)
The beautiful German Shepherd 👍🏻
It’s a secret 🤭 my lips are sealed 🤐
If you can afford a giant rv like that you can afford to buy some tires when they wear out.
Hey dave does this mean u have to replace all your tires due to the cracks? If by any chance you do replace them please make a video on it and the procedure to replace all your tires plus typical cost of full tire replacement
