The Most Important BJJ Lesson of My Life - The 32 Principles with Rener Gracie

  • I visited the one-and-only Rener Gracie a couple weeks ago at Gracie University in Torrance, California, and I can honestly say that this was the single most important lesson of my life, and if you watch the entire thing, you will see why.
    I've been doing BJJ for nearly 20 years, and I've learned thousands of specific techniques for specific situations, but I always felt BJJ was way more complicated than it needed to be. As a black belt who has competed at the highest level, I always felt that there were a set of core principles that make everything work in jiu-jitsu, but I never knew exactly what they were, until now.
    In their new course, The 32 Principles of Jiu-Jitsu, Rener and Ryron Gracie have created a roadmap that allows anyone to learn the 32 "micro principles" that are the foundation of all the techniques in BJJ. Like me, I believe that most black belts rely on these principles every day without knowing exactly what they are. Once you learn all 32, you will be able to "see through the fluff" in BJJ and understand the art for what it really is: a relatively small number of simple, timeless concepts and core principles that enable us to overcome obstacles and achieve victory with maximum efficiency.
    One of the best parts about this course is that Ryron and Rener are so fun to watch. They have a unique way of explaining BJJ so that literally anyone can understand. The combination of unmatched synergy along with the natural brotherly banter between the two makes it so entertaining to watch, and when you’ve got over 17 hours of content to learn from this can make a huge difference.
    Whether you’re a white belt student, a black belt instructor, or anyone in between, this is the most universally impactful course we’ve ever seen produced for BJJ, and we can't wait to share it with you.
    For the first time ever, The 32 Principles of Jiu-Jitsu will be available for sale on BJJ Fanatics. But unlike other courses that are permanently listed on our website, The 32 Principles will only be available for FOUR DAYS starting on February 23. Set your calendar so you don't miss the one-time sale on BJJ Fanatics!

    Imagine everyone would be so open minded like Bernardo. Considering his credentials it would be easy for him arrogantly think he knows it all and has nothing to gain from anyone in BJJ. Instead he's like a kid in a toy store. We need more of that mindset

      Bro, he's selling a product. He does it in a really nice way but that's what he is doing: making money selling bjj courses, he's not doing it because he's good hearted.
      I think Rener "Salesman" Gracie is exposing this pretty blatantly in this video.

    So many haters taking about rener or Bernardo “selling.” Well ya…they’ve spent a lifetime becoming absolute subject matter experts in the art of BJJ….why shouldn’t they sell their experience? You expect an electrician or lawyer to just give all their time away for free? How about “wow, thanks for taking the time to format an excellent instructional format so that I can advance my knowledge faster than I would have been able to 15 years ago.”

      t-city and any GU stuff are both firmly from within the Gracie jiu-jitsu ecosphere… B Faria, on the other hand, as well as being an IBJJF world champ himself, now makes his living by hooking up with the very best from sport BJJ (Gordon Ryan etc etc), which is a world the Gracie Academy has kept its distance from. Not doubting Rener’s credentials for a second, just saying it’s a surprising (and cool) collaboration.

    Hate to be the boomer here, but I'm not buying it. Rener is omitting multiple steps in principle bases approach, which student B would have to do and memorize anyway. It seems like both students have to know all 20 steps, but student B has a deeper understanding.

    • @vladlaptoiu9
      @vladlaptoiu9 2 роки тому

      Not a boomer my man. I totally agree, I love they way Rener teaches, he's such a natural at this but shit's just not that way for most people. Knowing the principles doesn't make for fewer steps, it's just the way you refer to those steps that's different and, yes, will ultimately be better over time. But this is over a longer period, thinking of these principles and applying them to the steps. I don't see this being "revolutionary" to your journey at white belt for example.
