The Most Important BJJ Lesson of My Life - The 32 Principles with Rener Gracie

- I visited the one-and-only Rener Gracie a couple weeks ago at Gracie University in Torrance, California, and I can honestly say that this was the single most important lesson of my life, and if you watch the entire thing, you will see why.
I've been doing BJJ for nearly 20 years, and I've learned thousands of specific techniques for specific situations, but I always felt BJJ was way more complicated than it needed to be. As a black belt who has competed at the highest level, I always felt that there were a set of core principles that make everything work in jiu-jitsu, but I never knew exactly what they were, until now.
In their new course, The 32 Principles of Jiu-Jitsu, Rener and Ryron Gracie have created a roadmap that allows anyone to learn the 32 "micro principles" that are the foundation of all the techniques in BJJ. Like me, I believe that most black belts rely on these principles every day without knowing exactly what they are. Once you learn all 32, you will be able to "see through the fluff" in BJJ and understand the art for what it really is: a relatively small number of simple, timeless concepts and core principles that enable us to overcome obstacles and achieve victory with maximum efficiency.
One of the best parts about this course is that Ryron and Rener are so fun to watch. They have a unique way of explaining BJJ so that literally anyone can understand. The combination of unmatched synergy along with the natural brotherly banter between the two makes it so entertaining to watch, and when you’ve got over 17 hours of content to learn from this can make a huge difference.
Whether you’re a white belt student, a black belt instructor, or anyone in between, this is the most universally impactful course we’ve ever seen produced for BJJ, and we can't wait to share it with you.
For the first time ever, The 32 Principles of Jiu-Jitsu will be available for sale on BJJ Fanatics. But unlike other courses that are permanently listed on our website, The 32 Principles will only be available for FOUR DAYS starting on February 23. Set your calendar so you don't miss the one-time sale on BJJ Fanatics! - Розваги
Jokes aside. This was a huge honor for Rener.
This comment needs to be pinned.
Rener, please can you get a skin fade! Ooooos

Until I see Rener and Ryron compete against top competition I'm going to believe they're just living off their last name.
Imagine everyone would be so open minded like Bernardo. Considering his credentials it would be easy for him arrogantly think he knows it all and has nothing to gain from anyone in BJJ. Instead he's like a kid in a toy store. We need more of that mindset
100% man
Bernardo is my jiu jitsu hero.
Bro, he's selling a product. He does it in a really nice way but that's what he is doing: making money selling bjj courses, he's not doing it because he's good hearted.
I think Rener "Salesman" Gracie is exposing this pretty blatantly in this video.
@@PaoloCaglioLMT Being good hearted and enthusiastic is the best way to sell a (good) product. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
Bernardo is going to be the David Attenborough of BJJ.
Rener is an excellent salesperson, and I mean that as a big compliment.
He could sell sand to an arab
Or sand to Anakin Skywalker
@@kevinolega1 😂
Rener has so much energy, monopolizes discussions
He'd talk the ear off an elephant.
at some point you just have to ask if pharmaceuticals are involved, or whether they should be if they are not
So many haters taking about rener or Bernardo “selling.” Well ya…they’ve spent a lifetime becoming absolute subject matter experts in the art of BJJ….why shouldn’t they sell their experience? You expect an electrician or lawyer to just give all their time away for free? How about “wow, thanks for taking the time to format an excellent instructional format so that I can advance my knowledge faster than I would have been able to 15 years ago.”
Definitely, he’s the best marketing guy for bjj. Awesome energy.
To be fair, he’s fucking good too. It’s not like he’s just a marketing guy. Dude is definitely skilled
Renergy… 😐
He could sell anti-semitism
Rener is the Tony Robins of Jiu Jitsu
Glad Bernardo was able to watch this video.
GU student here just taking a jab at my teacher. Great video. Happy to see the collaboration.
Rener can literally sell anything I almost bought a damn hoodie because of him once LOL
I actually bought that damn Alavanca hoodie
I got the hoodie…it’s a game changer
He’s a unique combination of a natural teacher and communicator who knows his subject inside and out and is genuinely passionate about it as well as passionate about sharing it. It has a profound effect when that combination occurs regardless of the subject.
I bet he's anti-Semitic
The 32 Principles has pushed the teaching and learning of Jiu-Jitsu to the next level.
2 of the most charming people in martial arts in one frame.
Classic start - great to see you both together. Thanks for the knowledge.
Love the long youtube videos, and this duo is legendary🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Omg I'm so happy right now,the intro made me smile
Reners Danaher impression is just priceless. Haha
Rickson said that Rorion was the best teacher, that explain the level of teaching of Ryron and Rener. The goats in term of teaching.
Facts
The crossover we've been waiting for.
its an honor for me to receive information from such legends for free. its accessible. easy to understand. high value lessons. the greatest athletes in the grappling realm. thank you bernardo. i wish i had a better coach back in my day who set such an example. you are a man to look up to and take inspiration from.
I've always loved teaching the basics/foundation of jiu jitsu. I even use my own principles to make it easier for beginners to learn. Connection/disconnection/blocking is the main one. I can't wait to learn the other principles.
This is what i was searching for. Now i understand the idea of the sence for the 32 principles. Thank you very much.
Love these guys! Your the best guys! Keep on keeping on
Wow Rener!! You’ve gotten even smarter. It’s beautiful the way you talk about Jiu Jitsu
Rener is one of the best coaches!
I could listen to Rener teach any subject.
Dude is all kinds of elocuent
same!
Great stuff, I am not a BJJ practioner yet, but when learning anything I like to know why I am doing something ILO memorizing moves.
Awesome! I'll finally have the microadjustments I need to tap black belts!
Bernardo needs a drink after this one
LMAO!!😄
excellent stuff!
Great video. Funny seeing Rener fixing Bernado's belt at 17:30
hahaha Im glad I wasn´t the only one who notice.
HUGE honor for us.
Great Video!
Rener is an amazing salesman and teacher. He just elevated BJJ above the English language haha!
Good detail.
This is so much interesting, you don't need a lot of strengh at all
This is awesome.
Amazing video as usual - Both icons and AMAZING instructors. Excited for the series to be on Fanatics!
2 of my favorites.
this dudes' energy is insane
Wish I didn't have to wait until Feb 23! Is the discount the same as what is on Gracie University now?
So cool seeing these 2 incredible teachers together going into the principles of the art. Although, I need to say Rener did not let Bernardo talk too much. Anyhow, great lesson guys, And minute 14:40 had me laughing LOL .
Wish I was 10 percent as happy and energetic as Rener. Depression sucks
Maybe you could practice the principals when you roll? I really find principal study is super enjoyable and rewarding. All the best to you! :)
Try jiujitsu?
Try microdosing LSD every other day for a while
Awesome !!!! I never ever did imagine.that there was a so inteligent sciense as gracie jiu jitsu.and its all metodology created by our Grand Master Helio Gracie and genuinely led by Ryron and Rener Gracie.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
19:30 Principle 33 - Crazy Eyes!
I’m trying to purchase this through BJJ fanatics but having issues , is this not available yet?
Rener is very charismatic no doubt about it.
Nice video. It would be awesome to see a version in Portuguese! ;-)
agree
“Hey if I explain this same technique with less details it seems easier”
Who else wants a rolling reflection series with Bernardo narrating his sessions against his guests?
Yes yes yes 🙌
Oh man ....did this really happen? Getting my Popcorn Ready!! 😁
Stay Awesome
Amazing
love you guys, great to see partnership
Rener, you are an amazing person and funny
The mind boggles at the sheer number of times this guy has said ‘JooJitso’ in his lifetime.. 😂 ❤️
Hey now I'm a Fanatics Fan. Woot!
Best bjj video. Thanks
Bernardo looking at Rener like hey bro let me get a bump of that lol
he's say I am a multiple time world champion and Im listening to this gaga.
Awesome
16 minutes in and I’m exhausted from his energy. 😂
Bernardo wave dont stop!!!!!!!!
If you permit me, 33th , strength. Saulo ribeiro in his JJU , stressed it. Last digit effort necessary to finish some subs .
The marvel like crossover I never knew I needed 🤣
.The back wooden wall id throwing me off in the middle how its setup
Metaverse is working a lot this month
Man we need a dvd set for jiu jitsu fans !! 🤤💔
Let’s include talking too much into the 32 principles..
Good lord Rener talks🤣🤣
When will this be on the website?
Feb 23. For 4 days only.
@@GracieBreakdown that's great, thankyou! 🤙🏻
You might want to tone down the salesman hype
I think he's just naturally passionate and enthusiastic about what he teaches and talks about.
He and Edgy Bravo should do a podcast..who would dominate the conversation
They used to do breakdowns for UFC together. It was pretty cool.
@@AbsoluteADCC I only remember the twister breakdown after the Korean zombie got it on Garcia
I wish I had his energy ⚡️💥😵💫
Finally
Please permit me: 34th principle: conditioning, conditioning and conditioning
If you have no more fuel even the most effective principle might not be optimal.
Bernardo you Invite the best king of BJJ
Damn I didn’t know it was Christmas😳
That part right there.....the teacher does not teach the student how to fish. That hit hard.
For a moment I thought I was on 2x....Rener is so energetic it looks like he drank 2L of coffee
If they could bottle whatever gives Rener that energy lol….
It’s called renergy
How can 2 such powerful beings exist in the same place at the same time?
haha that's funny :)
I'm ready to buy some Amway products
😂😂😂🤣🤣
the purpose of the pivot is Rener took away Benardo's center of gravity 25:41
27:22 - Pendulum Sweep
29:50 you don't something if it doesn't exist , that's for everything in life
This must be what it felt like for humans to first discover how to create fire.🤯🤯
the biggest ear beating i have every witnessed
Never thought I’d see Rener sitting next to a real BJJ athlete…
(Of course Rener is legit, but you know what I mean…)
t-city?
Evandro (head of the GST program) was a world champion in the white belt events, I think. GU has its share of people who do sport, even though it's not our main focus.
t-city and any GU stuff are both firmly from within the Gracie jiu-jitsu ecosphere… B Faria, on the other hand, as well as being an IBJJF world champ himself, now makes his living by hooking up with the very best from sport BJJ (Gordon Ryan etc etc), which is a world the Gracie Academy has kept its distance from. Not doubting Rener’s credentials for a second, just saying it’s a surprising (and cool) collaboration.
And Ryron trivially drew against Galvao. You can find footage of them both competing, although it is def. Not their focus
I didn’t like how when Ryron drew against Galvao it was a victory for GJJ, but when Schaub shut down Cyborg he was considered a dick (ok he is a dick as a comedian, but it was an impressive display of anti-jj; Cyborg was incapable of imposing his game).
If I were to do jiu-jitsu I'd get the course. I just don't know if I have the energy and flexibility.
OSS!
where is the roll video :D
Rener loves the sound of his own voice, lets noone else talk lol
How does Rener have such good body language?
Bro!
Hate to be the boomer here, but I'm not buying it. Rener is omitting multiple steps in principle bases approach, which student B would have to do and memorize anyway. It seems like both students have to know all 20 steps, but student B has a deeper understanding.
Not a boomer my man. I totally agree, I love they way Rener teaches, he's such a natural at this but shit's just not that way for most people. Knowing the principles doesn't make for fewer steps, it's just the way you refer to those steps that's different and, yes, will ultimately be better over time. But this is over a longer period, thinking of these principles and applying them to the steps. I don't see this being "revolutionary" to your journey at white belt for example.
He started on age 14 that's motivational I thought Im late
14 y.o. is a fantastic age to start and be a pro in any activity.
Rener started training at age 3, taught by Helio himself.
He started teaching at age 13/14.
basically this whole video is ALL Bruce Lee, be shapeless like water, different variations, with body manipulation , to every single BJJ technique
dude rener you have to let bernardo speak.
Rener is on all the caffeine
Nope. I run solely on Renergy.
@@GracieBreakdown 🤣🤙
I know Hener is a master and a wonderful teacher, but let Bernardo talk a little bit!
These guys got me into Jiu-jitsu but can I throw away my John Danaher DVDs after watching the 32 principles?
Only if you’re able to stream them. JD + 32 principles = alchemist BJJ!
Danaher has the best mechanics for finishing + conceptual frameworks to get to the finish. I’m willing to bet combining the two would be very smart
Nice tan Rener :)
Cost Rica. :)
I think I bought a car from Rener. 😂
