I am surprised I thought it was fixed. I have not had a problem all morning. I managed to get on at about 1am and played for an hour without any login issues. I have also been able to get on no problem even after a few crashes without a wait time. Either traffic is picking up again or things are being ironed out slowly over time.
I'm really pleasantly surprised at just how realistic that RR Trent 700 sounds, especially noticeable during climb. Amazing attention to detail for a default aircraft.
Thanks for the intro into 2024, appreciate it. A lot of stuff within the Simulator to resolve it seems - And as for streaming - well, that definitely is an issue as I suspected it would be
Appreciate the honest feedback and efforts to even get into new sim! Will be trying it out this weekend for the first time but it looks like I’ll be using 2020 for some time yet
Flying over London in a 172, SO SLOW, using recommended settings and was advised my 1gig broadband isn't fast enough. The fantastic textures and buildings were huge blurred coloured blocks then OK then a blurred mess. As someone else said, Give Me A Big Download Anyday. Hopefully it'll get better, IT NEEDS TO !. My local airport Aberdeen is arguably worse than in 2020 !
I managed to load in fully with the C17 and the A400M and from what I could tell, the degree of detail and functionality is a HUGE improvement over 2020, let alone graphics which look incredible, a night and day difference over 2020. But they still need to work out the server issues.
maybe it’s my internet but i was very underwhelmed with the graphics. what did you think was better? i agree that the trees are a huge improvement. the cities and default airports are still awful though.
@@goalski134 the general lighting, reflections, textures seemed very well improved. But yeah we cant get a proper benchmark until servers work properly
Interesting video as always. Did I see a glider on the stand at Edinburgh? Clearly it is better to wait for things to settle down, but I’m already worried about internet speeds. The UK is not well blessed with good internet speeds.
Lots of over the top rants going on, plenty of toys thrown out of prams. Wait and see, there are signs that 2024 could end up being fantastic and the shambles will be forgotten, not unlike 2020, which was far from ideal. People are so impatient these days, I started in MSFS in the late 80's and came back with 2020. People saw a huge difference from what came before, that won't be the case with 2024 but I get the feeling it will be a success.
10:20 Actually as I understand it the check location is correct. You should check for the “SEAT BELTS” item on the ECAM rather than the switch position as the switch may be broken. At least that’s what I’d heard!
Thanks for the video. Confirms that I won't be switching from a real simulator (XP12) to a streaming xbox game anytime soon :) I don't understand why everyone's jumping on this bandwagon.
After yesterday fiasco😂, I went to bed early, woke up at 5am, played 6 straight hours with no issues. Having fun with the career mode and the EFB is actually veeery decent!
Thanks for the great video, unfortunately I cannot seem to load into a flight in 2024 haha. Did you notice any difference in the physics or just the way the plane handles?
have been behind my pc since 5 pm last night and fortunately had the opportunity to play a bit early this morning, before it become too busy again. Assuming that MS will fix the too limited streaming bandwidth, there are pro's and cons to this sim compared to the matured MSFS2020: Pros: - framerate seems to be quite decent on me 5800X3D/3080 pc - i like the potential of the new career mode, photo mode - landscape seems to look nicer, seasons included, weather and traffic for the last 24 included so finally we can fly as well in daytime everywhere in the world and still experience realistic weather and traffic - nice airplanes, would really like to try out the A330, the A400 and the C17 and a few general aviation planes too cons: - seems to be not finished. apart from the streaming issues: AI traffic doesnt have the right paint schemes, even if you turn it off there is still AI traffic - not possible to download stuff to the local pc for now, hope this will be an option in the future - ATC still no improvements in msfs2020 I had all these addons like FSHud, FSLTL, etc which I want again in MSFS2024 but it seems that the way the simulator interacts with these tools is changed so it might take a long time again until I get in MSFS2024 the experience that I had in MSFS2020 in terms of realistic airliner flying with decent ATC and decent AI traffic. Honestly a bit more disappointed by this than by the streaming speed, assuming that the team will fix that issue in a couple of days anyway...
I finally got in this morning for q quick play. There was a bunch of stuff with controls not working and other things where I can't tell if it's broken, unintuitive or I'm just doing it wrong. I'm not worried too much: that stuff will be fixed or I will learn. I'm a little worried about the DX12 performance for VR. But I will see after my PC upgrade...
you can increase the rolling cache. when i heard it was going to be texture on demand streaming or whatever its called, i changed my primary drive for a 4tb nvme. fresh install of windows etc all in prep. msfs2020 is on my other 2tb drive with all my old add ons and side software. i plan on downloading the scenery for the areas i fly in. UK and europe mainly and set a 2.5TB cache size, this should help with the scenery. if you can do this with the aircraft too, il defintly do that, otherwise just waiting for FBW/Fenix updates, where you will have the aircraft locally installed
Thanks for sharing your review. Will you be making a tutorial on how te configure the Thrustmaster Throttle Quandrant and joystick as you did for FS2020 a few years ago? Thanks in advance.
The new sim does look absolutely incredible on all the videos I've seen of it so far, yhis one included. I agree that at least there should be some sort of option to download the aircraft, considering that's where we will spend most of our time! I'm 50/50 on whether to spalsh out and buy it now or wait for the sim to mature a little bit before I do?
from what i can see, the aircraft are cached locally , so as you use them it should become less of an issue , also the day 1 bump will subside, and MS will be able to meet demand in respect to servers
Wasn’t a majority of the new features in MSFS 2024 from the community? Asobo essentially hired a lot previous 2020 third party developers to help build this new sim
There are so many things that are unfinished/not working properly. Like missing textures, settings that do nothing, buttons that do nothing, things you should be able to interact with but you can't,... Server issues are one thing but this is terribly unfinished. And why can't we download cockpit textures? it's ridiculous that textures are terrible if their servers are bad.
100% We should have the option to selectively download certain aircraft as we see fit and only stream the ones we may only fly only once or twice. I don't like the idea of getting a blurry cockpit if our internet isn't working on all cylinders.
Wow, you must be lucky; you actually managed to get to the main menu! I'm beyond annoyed now, 24 hours, a re install and several attempts, all hanging at 97% loading after an hour apeice.
Today i have managed to play with it into career mode. Certainly graphics i see menus etc are all better than 2020. Though a lot of glitches here and there. Some annoying freezes sometimes but that’s it for me till now of course and with the C172. Didn’t check anything else till now. Also certainly the flight model at least of this plane to me seems for sure different. Maybe a little bit more difficult but i believe more realistic too. At least from the experience i have from a real airplane C152 but a lot of years before.
It's, quite literally, a stuttering start, but I've seen enough, when I have been able to log in, to know that this really is moving the game forward very significantly indeed. Excited. This unfortunate initial phase will soon be history and forgotten.
Hi great video, but I wonder how did you get the free look in the cockpit avaiable like in 2020. I only can get it on but than it works always and you can't really set up the dials and knobs because of the moving mouse
People should have the option to download everything and not play from the cloud if they don’t want to. I don’t think the whole built from the cloud is a flop but there should be an option to prevent high wait times
This is a glitch in the way it recorded, I will make sure it doesn’t happen again. Apologies! It’s because (strangely enough) the frame rate was a bit too high!
Aside from the cloud/streaming issues, I also have run into various bugs within the game that greatly hinder the experience. I've had multiple graphical bugs like planes floating around in the sky over parking spaces, cars driving up through the ground, and other annoying things like that, but more frustratingly, I've had a few issues with settings like keybinds actually working or changing on their own. Trying to map my yoke/throttle and calibrate them along with my rudder pedals has been a nightmare. My mouse inversion settings keep resetting as well. The MOST frustrating thing I dealt with was being unable to exit the aircraft! Shift C is the keybind and it just wouldnt work. Trying to click the door handle wouldn't work either. I couldn't find any clickable option in the menu to do this so I essentially could not perform pre flight (remove chocks and pitot tube cover, etc.) so I literally couldn't do a cold/dark start. Its kind of tradition for me to always start out my first flight in MSFS with a cold and dark start of a C172. Performance is also still less than ideal. Yes, its decent, but we are still "limited by main thread" and that has been a huge issue since 2020! They still haven't fixed that, which does not allow your GPU (if you have a really good one) to run at its full capability, leading to less FPS than possible. I have a 14900k and 4090. I should not be CPU bottlenecked in ANY way. I can't believe their multithreading optimization is still bad. All that being said, I don't believe any of this can't be fixed over time, but the game was clearly undercooked and could have used another couple months at least to iron out more issues. The launch with the servers is an absolute travesty and tbh, I find there is ZERO excuse for a company as large as Microsoft to not invest in enough servers/bandwidth to handle the demand. They did a stress/load test with 200,000 people but that was nowhere near enough. I'm sure close to 1M people were trying to download/play this game at some point on launch day and for them to say "it was way more popular than we expected" when this is their longest running flagship title is frankly, absurd. They need to get their shit together, Asobo needs to push a BIG patch to fix multiple issues that I mentioned and some that I didn't, and honestly, I feel like some form of compensation in the form of additional content or marketplace credit should be given due to the issues that we all have and are experiencing as well as the fact that this game will likely remain in this state for at least a couple months. It seems like they have quite a bit to iron out and Asobo has been far from quick to act and address issues in the past, so I feel like that hasn't changed much. Anyway, I can't wait for the game to improve since, at its core, I can see that many improvements have been made and this has potential to be the best flight sim of all time. I just really am getting exhausted with these massive AAA developers/publishers pushing out broken and unfinished games while pushing for presales and after release acting like they had no idea that it would not be perfect at launch. Thanks for the vid and sorry for the novel, but I guess I just had a lot to get off my chest.
200 usd for a game i cant play with planes that arent even available in the menus. There is absolutely no excuse for the state of the game currently. Now i know i made the choice to buy the full upgrade but even if i didn't releasing broken expensive games seems to just be how it is these days. Good luck
each time you load the sim more planes start showing i got all my planes now even the ones i bought on msfs 2024 shame i cant fly the damn things just stops at loading in the flight nearly 24 hrs trying and still not got a flight that is very very sad for a huge company
@@loynsmodelsi flew in the sim already last night first try, the pitch is terrible and the camera too, hopefully was just a streaming issue or a bug because im staying in the 2020 if that’s not the case
Dude you caved in and now you pay the price. Anyway. You can still ask for a refund. Steam is aware of the problem and it doesn't matter the 2 hours anymore
Do you know whether you have to unlock the Jet Airliners with career before you can fly them, because there are none listed when you select free flight? No A320s in sight. It took me 16 hrs before I could get into the sim as well. Great looking game though.
Same I bought it and waited for 6hrs to load in then the game crashed I re-loaded it and did the 747 fighter fighting thing and when I sprayed it engine smoke came out
the Scenery from my experience is working, but i get the same issues (not earlier, but now) with blurry panels. A lot of the time now the plane does'nt even load, and it's just a pilot sitting 50ft off the runway :)
Hello @320simpilot. Im thinking of going back to flight simulator after a long break from FSX. How’s the stability on the sim so far? Any random crashes from server issues or bugs? I recently updated my PC to meet at least the recommended spec
i've had 1 Crash in around 4hours. The main problem is taking a long time to load into flights , which is a streaming issue due to it being hammered at the moment
you can change the locally stored cache size , on my machine it's defaulted to 16GB. I wonder , if planes are kept in the cache as well, would make sense. If for a rolling cache, it rolls scenery out, but keeps planes you have used in it.
I think if we bump that cache up to say 50GB, once you been in the planes, they should be in the cache and hopefully it makes them persistant locally, only flushing them if the plane is updated Loading up a plane i had used earlier , the A400, the Plane loaded in fine, no blurry panels. Loading in a plane i had'nt used the Beluga, it did'nt load properly So i don't think it should'nt be a big problem going forward, as they up capacity for the data loads and you use the aircraft, they should remain effectively local for reference after 2hrs, (heathrow, London, New York(JFK , Manhatten) Ibiza, NL, essex, kent, corsica) my data usage is 1.3 GB That's using around 6 planes and going over 2 very large high detail cities So we are looking at maybe 500MB per hour on average as i suspect the majority will be duplicate models, textures, i.e fields, trees, water, that should again be permanently cached and not flying over large cities for the whole btw i work in cloud computing This was all at High detail, so i don't think the data requirements will be an issue , it's just they have'nt provisioned enough capability for launch day
the total install size for 2024 is only 12gb (yes that's not a mistake) considering 2020 with the world updates, no addons was north of 200GB, i think it's worth passing those savings onto the cache. As it was using 'expensive' NVME, it always hurt using that much of that storage For the last 10 hrs i can reliably get into the game, the career mode seems the most problamactic , not loading in properly , so i need to restart to get into the flight. It does however work So the question is does it work for those who have'nt brought it yet , yes. Some loading can be slow , but again that's on MS side, as they provision capacity and handle the loads better, load times are much improved in general from 2020, well they will be, based on the beta which did'nt have these issues with the amount of users. The performance antidotally seems generally the same or better than 2020 i am running on High, 4070 super, 32gb , NVME, I5-12400f and getting 60FPS
Having to stream it is a no go for me. Shitty Australian internet just doesn’t cut it and 2020 was hard enough to enjoy when the photogrammetry didn’t load right! Hoping they improve it over the next year
While the current state of the sim with the bugs like poor textures, missing planes in the menus, and crashes to desktop, etc... are bad, I feel they will be ironed out over the coming weeks/ months so not really of bother to me. The bits I'm personally disappointed in are things that have just been made that way, Things like: The replay tool. It was crud in 2020 and then just seemed to cut and pasted into 2024. Default airports: If there isn't an add-on scenery mod, I don't bother flying there because they are a massive immersion killer (not asking for them to all be of the great hand crafted ones, just to a standard of something like xplane) this cuts the number of destinations right down. Little things like the traffic lights in the streets, how bright are the red lights. The live traffic: This was hyped up like it was gonna be a game changer in 2020, and now I'm sure most people have it turned to off. They are all over the place and still look the same as the 2020 vision. Road traffic: Not a biggy, but still a shame that it looks like a game of Rocket League has broken out with cars all over the place. They move in a jerkie motion, and there isn't really much traffic anyway. I haven't seen a train yet. I haven't seen a tower view, too. And the fly-by view doesn't seem to be like the fsx/ X plane style most of us wished for and enjoy. The glideslope not matching the PAPIs (I haven't tried it yet and most sims default aircrafts that I have tried are never the dream flight dynamics) but by what I have heard, the flight dynamics have been improved but not to the level they seem to of been Hyped up to. Default ATC: wasn't expecting Beyond atc standards but, would of been nice to have something a little better from what I have seen. I still think they have a good base for the sim, and I'm sure it will get better. I hope they can improve it to the standards most people were hoping. They have the resources, hopefully they can shape it into something spectacular.
I don't understand why on earth the airplane textures would be streamed instead of fully stored locally. I tend to believe that low texture resolution in the cabin is a different bug not related to that. If the game is really 100% streamed on demand like that, Microsoft was just crazy to believe this would work flawlessly on release.
effectively once you use them , they are local, i.e they go into the cache. hopefully planes don't get rolled out as that cache is used. The default size is 16gb and my data usage is around 500/600mb per hour for normal flying so as you use the different airplanes, they should effectively remain on your local storage
@@davidrenton That makes sense... I think they should add some rules to the loading system. I mean at least the aircraft should be fully loaded before allowing the player taking control of it. I'd rather wait a little longer the first time I chose an aircraft than risking playing with it all broken...
@@rabellogp that would make sense, as at the moment i'm just a guy floating above the runway :) It's fine for Aircraft i used earlier, when i suspect there was less users trying to connect. i doubt the Aircraft are that large in terms of file size and they should once in the cache stay there even when it rolls over hopefully
It's bad. Really bad. I mean, people moaned about Cyberpunk 2077 but at least you could play it at launch (albeit with many bugs). With MSFS 2024, I've spent hours watching the loading screen, more hours trying get past the 'Customise Identity' window and now when I can actually get into the sim, all the aircraft are missing bar one (which won't render in the preview window), hardly any airports are present so I can't spawn in anywhere and if I try and click Fly Now, I just get a crash to desktop. Shocking launch from a company with the standing of Microsoft, I am shocked they have dropped the ball so hard with this.
I will probably be less than 6 months. Thinking the weekend before Christmas to install the thing so I can get all my settings in on Christmas day when I have some time off.
One issue for me is my VKB Gladiator flight stick doesnt work on MS2024 for some reason, it detects the device but doesnt seem to detect its movements.
I'm so glad that I didn't rush and buy this simulator. I plan to fly into 2020 for at least another year. I don’t see any point in switching to 2024. The developer has gone crazy demanding more than $200 for this buggy piece of code.
some 28h after downloading and some 16h recorded in steam it was 4am UTC before I got past the queue, only then to be confronted by the new method of queueing of waiting for any form of data for a flight, after going to bed at 11am UTC and then getting up at 5pm UTC and trying again I have achieved exactly 0seconds of flight. and its not as if I am trying to start a flight in a complex place, I have tried remote parts of Africa and even small atoll in the pacific. head need to roll swiftly and very publicly.
"You think people should have known", REALLY?, That's ridiculous. Millions of people who know zero about computers and networks just want to load and play. This is a 100% Microsoft issue. People paid the money and the product was not properly delivered. I can still understand if it's an unknown company, but it's MICROSOFT for crying out loud 😂
I am flying MSFS2020 with GSX, Onair manager and flying on Vatsim in a stable environment. RTX4060Super and I57500F. MSFS2024 doesnt seem to be worth the expense right now. But nice nevertheless.
They better offer a future option to keep the files local. Clearly, streaming everything is shit under high demand. My hope is that PMDG and other 3rd party devs show what performance should be the standard.
Cities Skylines 2, KSP2, and now FS2024. We as customers accept that these huge companies are delivering completely unfinished, unplayable games for full price, we swallow up all the marketing material, and afterwards we always think "How could this happen??" while the publishers and developers sit with the bags of money we gave them, and pinky promise to fix the "unexpected" issues. I feel indie developers are the only ones who actually do game releases properly nowadays, because at least they have something to prove. Derail Valley (a train sim) launched a huge update recently that rewrote the entire game and added huge amounts of contents and realism. And guess what? It worked from day 1.
I really don't understand why someone would pre-order an unfinished game instead of trying it on Xbox Gamepass on launch day when it is avaliable like it is with MSFS24 or just wait for some reviews. Is money people save by pre-ordering really more than the money they are wasting
They claimed that they overhauled the replay system. Did not know that overhauling meant just putting the same mediocre replay system into the sim. They need to take some lessons from Xplane and find a way to implement their system into MSFS 2024. I also shouldnt have to entirely reconfigure the aircraft.
is that the Microsoft Store version or the Steam version? because i'm pretty sure Steam lets you put it wherever you like. or it had better! *frowny face*
Once you get in.. its great but.. the only streaming thing.. so many can not do this. I hope this changes.. I would never have bought it if its only cloud gaming. I understand for XBOX that again.. how many can just stream all that.

I would hope that we can eventually download the aircraft locally and just stream the world cuz streaming both is a mistake in my opinion
I agree. If we could get the aircraft it might help relieve some stress on the servers too
Most if not all third party aircraft will be locally based i am sure.
I'm surprised this video came out so quickly, I've only just finished binding buttons lol. As always thanks for the videos
New Video Title: "I waited 12 hours to load in a plane | MSFS 2024 Review" Or "Achievement Unlocked - Get Passed 97%"
A great video but it has convinced me to hold off on 2024 for a while longer, and keep running 2020
Confirms that I won't be switching from a real simulator (XP12) to a streaming xbox game anytime soon :)
I don't understand why everyone's jumping on this bandwagon.
After yesterday fiasco😂, I went to bed early, woke up at 5am, played 6 straight hours with no issues. Having fun with the career mode and the EFB is actually veeery decent!
Was very happy the Saab comes with a REX livery as one of the default liveries.
Assuming that MS will fix the too limited streaming bandwidth, there are pro's and cons to this sim compared to the matured MSFS2020:
Pros:
- framerate seems to be quite decent on me 5800X3D/3080 pc
- i like the potential of the new career mode, photo mode
- landscape seems to look nicer, seasons included, weather and traffic for the last 24 included so finally we can fly as well in daytime everywhere in the world and still experience realistic weather and traffic
- nice airplanes, would really like to try out the A330, the A400 and the C17 and a few general aviation planes too
cons:
- seems to be not finished. apart from the streaming issues: AI traffic doesnt have the right paint schemes, even if you turn it off there is still AI traffic
- not possible to download stuff to the local pc for now, hope this will be an option in the future
- ATC still no improvements
in msfs2020 I had all these addons like FSHud, FSLTL, etc which I want again in MSFS2024 but it seems that the way the simulator interacts with these tools is changed so it might take a long time again until I get in MSFS2024 the experience that I had in MSFS2020 in terms of realistic airliner flying with decent ATC and decent AI traffic. Honestly a bit more disappointed by this than by the streaming speed, assuming that the team will fix that issue in a couple of days anyway...
I was flying FS2020 earlier, I’m holding off on buying 2024 for a while, and I noticed ground tiles were taking a very long time to load fully.
Great vid as always!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the video, very nice. My big issue is I have had to remap my Velocity One yoke which is a pain.
you can increase the rolling cache. when i heard it was going to be texture on demand streaming or whatever its called, i changed my primary drive for a 4tb nvme. fresh install of windows etc all in prep. msfs2020 is on my other 2tb drive with all my old add ons and side software. i plan on downloading the scenery for the areas i fly in.
Amazing A330 for a default aircraft.
Waiting for the Asobo 737 MAX review. Thanks 😊
Regarding the recorder. Yes it is from the community. They even had the dev at flight sim expo on the panel if I’m not mistaken
@@Michael-zf1ko 100% my toughts i hope that we can eventually install planes locally in the SSD
Wow, you must be lucky; you actually managed to get to the main menu!
I'm beyond annoyed now, 24 hours, a re install and several attempts, all hanging at 97% loading after an hour apeice.
I hope we will be able to download planes and sceneries later on.
At least from the experience i have from a real airplane C152 but a lot of years before.
does the good old Pyreegue EGPH work with MSFS2024? i haven't upgraded yet and i'm very unclear about what payware carries over and what doesn't.
Hey, I saw that the new flight simulator has a built-in flight planner, something like simbrief, do you plan on making a guide on how to use it?
Should be given an option to download more data to your local drive.
People should have the option to download everything and not play from the cloud if they don’t want to. I don’t think the whole built from the cloud is a flop but there should be an option to prevent high wait times
Hmm, the video is quite jittery. Is this only on my computer?
No dont worry it is doing it on my pc to
This is a glitch in the way it recorded, I will make sure it doesn’t happen again.
It will be fine in a few months, this is why I never purchase games on release. Plus, I am still perfectly fine with the Fenix products in fs 2020
Still the same at the moment
Dude you caved in and now you pay the price. Anyway. You can still ask for a refund. Steam is aware of the problem and it doesn't matter the 2 hours anymore
Do you know whether you have to unlock the Jet Airliners with career before you can fly them, because there are none listed when you select free flight? No A320s in sight.
It took me 16 hrs before I could get into the sim as well. Great looking game though.
Missing planes is due to server cache overload. It'll be fixed in time as the demand stabilises. Try restarting the sim, if you dare.
Still can’t get in myself but good to see some content!
Same
I bought it and waited for 6hrs to load in then the game crashed
I re-loaded it and did the 747 fighter fighting thing and when I sprayed it engine smoke came out
the Scenery from my experience is working, but i get the same issues (not earlier, but now) with blurry panels. A lot of the time now the plane does'nt even load, and it's just a pilot sitting 50ft off the runway :)
It would be nice if we could download the planes locally so the textures aren't missing.
Hello @320simpilot. Im thinking of going back to flight simulator after a long break from FSX. How’s the stability on the sim so far? Any random crashes from server issues or bugs? I recently updated my PC to meet at least the recommended spec
i've had 1 Crash in around 4hours. The main problem is taking a long time to load into flights , which is a streaming issue due to it being hammered at the moment
surprised you even got in, or did you have to cut out a lot of waiting screens?
I spent over 15 hours trying to get one flight!
Blimey. That’s dedication!! Thank you.
@@320SimPilot yh i heard it was especially rough for UK simmers.
you can change the locally stored cache size , on my machine it's defaulted to 16GB.
I wonder , if planes are kept in the cache as well, would make sense. If for a rolling cache, it rolls scenery out, but keeps planes you have used in it.
I think if we bump that cache up to say 50GB, once you been in the planes, they should be in the cache and hopefully it makes them persistant locally, only flushing them if the plane is updated
Loading up a plane i had used earlier , the A400, the Plane loaded in fine, no blurry panels. Loading in a plane i had'nt used the Beluga, it did'nt load properly
So i don't think it should'nt be a big problem going forward, as they up capacity for the data loads and you use the aircraft, they should remain effectively local
for reference after 2hrs, (heathrow, London, New York(JFK , Manhatten) Ibiza, NL, essex, kent, corsica) my data usage is 1.3 GB
That's using around 6 planes and going over 2 very large high detail cities
So we are looking at maybe 500MB per hour on average as i suspect the majority will be duplicate models, textures, i.e fields, trees, water, that should again be permanently cached and not flying over large cities for the whole
btw i work in cloud computing
This was all at High detail, so i don't think the data requirements will be an issue , it's just they have'nt provisioned enough capability for launch day
the total install size for 2024 is only 12gb (yes that's not a mistake) considering 2020 with the world updates, no addons was north of 200GB, i think it's worth passing those savings onto the cache.
As it was using 'expensive' NVME, it always hurt using that much of that storage
For the last 10 hrs i can reliably get into the game, the career mode seems the most problamactic , not loading in properly , so i need to restart to get into the flight. It does however work
So the question is does it work for those who have'nt brought it yet , yes. Some loading can be slow , but again that's on MS side, as they provision capacity and handle the loads better, load times are much improved in general from 2020, well they will be, based on the beta which did'nt have these issues with the amount of users.
The performance antidotally seems generally the same or better than 2020
i am running on High, 4070 super, 32gb , NVME, I5-12400f and getting 60FPS
there should be an achievement for getting past 97% loading screen lol
I got to the main menu. That's it.
Same here.
Good that I decided to stay on 2020 for now
Having to stream it is a no go for me. Shitty Australian internet just doesn’t cut it and 2020 was hard enough to enjoy when the photogrammetry didn’t load right! Hoping they improve it over the next year
Hopefully this version of their flight sim doesn't turn out to be another MSFS 2000
I think it can be stable and playable in next 2 years :))
Such a shame this was released. Did a lot of damage im afraid.
Can you kindly show us how you did your bindings??
While the current state of the sim with the bugs like poor textures, missing planes in the menus, and crashes to desktop, etc... are bad, I feel they will be ironed out over the coming weeks/ months so not really of bother to me.
The bits I'm personally disappointed in are things that have just been made that way, Things like:
The replay tool.
The glideslope not matching the PAPIs
(I haven't tried it yet and most sims default aircrafts that I have tried are never the dream flight dynamics) but by what I have heard, the flight dynamics have been improved but not to the level they seem to of been Hyped up to.
I think weather radar has been fixed for this year 🥳
Ah textures from 2001. Very nice Microsoft.
Congrats on getting it to load 😂
I don't understand why on earth the airplane textures would be streamed instead of fully stored locally. I tend to believe that low texture resolution in the cabin is a different bug not related to that. If the game is really 100% streamed on demand like that, Microsoft was just crazy to believe this would work flawlessly on release.
effectively once you use them , they are local, i.e they go into the cache. hopefully planes don't get rolled out as that cache is used. The default size is 16gb and my data usage is around 500/600mb per hour for normal flying
so as you use the different airplanes, they should effectively remain on your local storage
@@davidrenton That makes sense... I think they should add some rules to the loading system. I mean at least the aircraft should be fully loaded before allowing the player taking control of it. I'd rather wait a little longer the first time I chose an aircraft than risking playing with it all broken...
@@rabellogp that would make sense, as at the moment i'm just a guy floating above the runway :)
It's fine for Aircraft i used earlier, when i suspect there was less users trying to connect.
i doubt the Aircraft are that large in terms of file size and they should once in the cache stay there even when it rolls over hopefully
It's bad.
Asobo and Microsoft should change this policy of everything on the cloud. ANd the only way is all teh content creators to ask about that
What graphics resolution are you playing at ?
There should be some script for us to download what we want ahead of time and stream from our infrastructure, instead of their server ;-)
I've not even been able to have 1 quick flight
The tablet has LIDO charts :)
Another bad good idea from them. Can’t they revert to a non streaming system? I have a slow connection, but a big hard drive.
Im waiting six months cant be doing with all the drama
I will probably be less than 6 months. Thinking the weekend before Christmas to install the thing so I can get all my settings in on Christmas day when I have some time off.
One issue for me is my VKB Gladiator flight stick doesnt work on MS2024 for some reason, it detects the device but doesnt seem to detect its movements.
I'm so glad that I didn't rush and buy this simulator. I plan to fly into 2020 for at least another year. I don’t see any point in switching to 2024. The developer has gone crazy demanding more than $200 for this buggy piece of code.
Yeah I have a feeling I’ll be in 2020 for at least another year or two. Staying away from 2024 at the moment
some 28h after downloading and some 16h recorded in steam it was 4am UTC before I got past the queue, only then to be confronted by the new method of queueing of waiting for any form of data for a flight, after going to bed at 11am UTC and then getting up at 5pm UTC and trying again I have achieved exactly 0seconds of flight.
and its not as if I am trying to start a flight in a complex place, I have tried remote parts of Africa and even small atoll in the pacific.
head need to roll swiftly and very publicly.
Are you impressed? I'm not 🤦♂️
The right wing has more flex than the left wing, that needs to be fixed
"You think people should have known", REALLY?, That's ridiculous. Millions of people who know zero about computers and networks just want to load and play. This is a 100% Microsoft issue. People paid the money and the product was not properly delivered. I can still understand if it's an unknown company, but it's MICROSOFT for crying out loud 😂
How does this compare to X-Plane 12?
Does the beluga have two registration numbers?
Looking at the flight model, ground handling physics etc, I will stick with XP12
I am flying MSFS2020 with GSX, Onair manager and flying on Vatsim in a stable environment. RTX4060Super and I57500F. MSFS2024 doesnt seem to be worth the expense right now. But nice nevertheless.
The little updates they added couldve simply been an update to fs2020. All the new one does is force you in an online only game.
I do like the new jetways.
Wow! you havent sold it to me, not much difference and lots of glitches. i'll wait. Although im not surprised.
If it wasnt for Inibuilds, this launched would of been a complete failure.
They claimed that they overhauled the replay system. Did not know that overhauling meant just putting the same mediocre replay system into the sim. They need to take some lessons from Xplane and find a way to implement their system into MSFS 2024. I also shouldnt have to entirely reconfigure the aircraft.
Live stream soon 🎉
Back to 2020 guys see ya there 😂
why they made a sim but they didn't make a way to chose the installations location just why
Oh..that problem is still there then. I'm sure MSFS Addons Linker will sort that out soon enough!
@@mdhazeldine i already delete it already im waiting for them to add this so i can install it in another drive i had a new 2tb ssd just for it
is that the Microsoft Store version or the Steam version? because i'm pretty sure Steam lets you put it wherever you like. or it had better! *frowny face*
@@BernardLangham steam you can chose where to put launcher but the launcher chose auto you cant put where to install
I certainly will NOT pre-order the next version of MSFS (2028?). Ill lwave it a few months after release - if at all 😢
Once you get in.. its great but.. the only streaming thing.. so many can not do this. I hope this changes.. I would never have bought it if its only cloud gaming. I understand for XBOX that again.. how many can just stream all that.
The RR engines sound is not very realistic, especially "spooling up" sound in external view.
i see if i set texture to ultra, texture broken, set to high
