42 minutes, cool so i need 3 hours set aside to digest this stellar material! we hang on your every word. thank you so much for these quick tutorial releases.
I’ll admit seeing you leave the airbus family of aircraft was sad but boy have we lucked out now that you can teach us how to operate this aircraft! You’re the best virtual instructor by far. Thanks for all the effort you put into these!
Ok I have to admit that thing with inboard aileron on take-off, blew my mind. Thank you for talking about that and wow, impressed by the level of simulation, well done PMDG.
It’s something I learned about on the 787 and then found out it’s on the 777. I was excited to see it simulated so well! And luckily it worked in replay too! Thanks for watching as always!
I just bought the 737-800 and i love how detailed it is in optics and functionality. I was used to FBW A320 and it is great but PMDGs 737 and now this awesome 777 are far ahead. I like your tutorials very much. It is just a teaching lesson in flying for me as realistic as possible thanks!! 🎉
Love your videos. They have helped me so much with the 777. I am always struggling to vector myself properly once the Star ends when there is no sensible route to the runway. Please could you do a video with how to vector yourself properly when wanting to approach an ILS and runway?
Have you tried adding a transition or a via ? In some cases the end waypoint of the star will be a part of a transition , which takes you directly onto the ILS course
You can choose the flight levels you want for the wind data request. When in the LEGS page ready to load the wind data, just click on the right (on any waypoint), then type whatever flight levels you want on the left side (you can choose up to 4 flight levels). After that, just load the wind data.
Awesome tutorial as always!!! very informative and enjoyable to watch. Quick question i might have missed it if you went over it but is there a particular procedure if doing a polar ops (crossing north pole).
Thank you so much! When you go far enough North you would change the HDG REF (below the Captains Screens) to TRUE. There are a lot of other procedures but you end up flying in 'Grid' navigation which is a bit difficult to explain here. I may discuss it in future! I hope this helps a bit.
A fascinating and very informative video - not sure if it is because it's all new to an Airbus simmer but many things just feel unnecessarily complicated in the Boeing in comparison. Even the parking brake requires two actions instead of one. But on the flip side I did spot one or two features that would be handy in the bus.
Why would entering your arrival STAR & Runway mess up your sequencing if you do this before departure? If the waypoints in the FMC are in the correct order where is the possibility of it going wrong? Also doesn’t entering the STAR make a DISCONTINUITY in the FMC which kind of separates those Waypoints away from the main route? Hope that makes sense 😂
your tutorials are amazing. i have several hundred hours in the pmdg 738, so i thought, being boeing, it might be quite similar. well, i was wrong! 😂 a lot of learning ahead for me it seems!
I saw it on another tutorial that the STAR and Arrival Runway are to be entered per the flight plan, so that the fuel predictions can be vetted (for the majority) of the flight. Goes directly against what you just said there. Hmm... :)
When you rotate the heading knob it points to a new direction. On the old stream gauge aircraft that was a small "bug" on the circumference of the instrument showing the "bugged" heading. Look at the MSFS Cessna 172 (not the G1000 version) to see "bugs" on the directional gyro. Basically they are reminders you can set. The 742 had speed bugs you set to remind you about flap speeds.
How on earth does one assign a joystick button to (for example) opening the speed window on the MCP? (IRL, pushing the speed knob) Same applies for the ALT knob, track/hdg select etc. Things like TOGA and A/P disconnect etc are MSFS standard commands, but I've tried all others in MSFS for those functions, and nothing worked. I don't have anything like FSUIPC (and don't want it). Are those controls bind-able at all? Didn't the older PMDG modules for FSX use to have a separate control bindings app?
Thank you so much for another really absorbing video. May I make a request? The way you are controlling your cockpit views is incredible. Any chance of a quick video setting out how you're doing that? Thanks.😊😊😊
Thanks again for the tutorial! Moving to real life, it has been suggested to me that the cockpit is the worst place to be in the plane with regards to humidity, i.e. it has the driest air. Is the difference noticeable, and does it cause nasal and/or sinus problems?
When I need to set the trim, with the engine running, I move the levers up and down to reach the exact value. But I’ve seen in videos that you don’t touch the trim wheel, but something else to adjust the indication. What do you do? Thank you.”
A very enjoyable and informative video. Thank you. And now I would appreciate a video on how to tolerate the remaining 5 1/2 hours of boredom sitting in front of my screen en route to New York.😂
Turn on: auto time compression, auto step climb, pause at top of descent. Drop your graphics a bit and you should be able to do 8x or even 16x time compression.
For some reason, during climb the aircraft will get stuck at FL240. The T/C then will keep getting pushed back on the radar and I miss each waypoints altitude. I am not sure why it wont reach cruise. I followed along just as you showed and use to fly this plane in the P3D/FSX days :)
@320SimPilot What do those of us with hardware throttles do with them once TOGA has been set? Do we leave them at 55% the whole flight or firewall them after TOGA is set or …?
Whenever I seem to engage VNAV, I get an FMC warning stating, "PERF/VNAV UNAVAILABLE". I'm not sure whether this is an FMC error or a glitch. If someone could explain it that would be great.
@@coochieman7887 I insert my departure and arrival through the dep/arr page then fill in all of my route waypoints until my arrival. I do this in the 737 and the VNAV works fine. Whether it's a different approach in the 777, I don't know.
@@320SimPilot Yep, I do everything that is required and still get the message. My VNAV page on the FMC does detect all of the altitude constraints from a SID or STAR, however not sure why it won't follow them for itself. Now, I have to manually change speed or altitude depending on the constraints manually through the page as a guide to allow the flight to still go smoothly.
I’m having trouble with climbing to 31,000 cannot even exceed Mach 0.80. I did a rather short flight from YSSY to NZAA I was light not much fuel. Any tips?
I follow the tutorial but when cruising the aircraft struggles to reach the cruise and starts to lose speed even in managed climb an example the fmc is wanting to climb to 31,000 the aircraft reaches 28,000 and the engines are running at 100%
@@jfavignano that makes no sense to me though. If the heading bug is centred and ATC asks for a heading change then you would have to set the bug to the heading they asked for, in that instance it makes no difference wether the bug is centred or not, you would have to move it anyway. I aren’t trying to be a smart ass, I genuinely don’t understand the reasoning, it takes no time at all to set any number in the heading window.
Great tutorial, one bit of constructive criticism, try moving the mic away from your mouth a bit, there's a lot of "puffing" in to the mic when you speak.
Your tutorials have been my go to! Learning to fly this airplane properly has been such an enjoyable experience.
That is fantastic to hear, thank you so much for stopping by and for commenting Jeff!

hi thanks for the tutorial, can you show how you carry out different failures, eg. eng out, hydraulics, cabin decompression
Your tutorial are perfect. I just have a question. When I get cruise altitude, the airspeed keeps dropping. The cruise altitude is what shows by FMC.
Great video, thanks!
You are welcome, thank you so much for everything!

how can we set nose dn nose up stab setting pelease
Does the step climb calculation and recommendation account for differing winds at the higher cruise altitude or is it just based off aircraft weight?
use simbriefs step climb recommendations
Why must you keep updating the heading bug?
That's Boeing baby! A good airline pilot always centers the hdg bug so that you aren't caught off guard when ATC asks for a turn.

Hi Captain just a question is it ok to set IAS to 240 or 250 knots in the FMC from TOD all the way down for a slow mellow descent?
If there is a step climb, will vnav automatically change the flight level for you?

do you have to set up a chrono before take off ? :)
