I just turned Forty a few weeks ago and have been training to get to marathon distance and just successfully completed it yesterday in some daily trainers, time to get me some marathon shoes. Thank you so much Fordy for all the awesome content throughout my journey, keep up the good work, much luv from Minnesota 🤟🏻
My pro 3’s literally got delivered from Sportsshoes 10 mins ago. Bought them for that marathon distance. Got Manchester and Windermere in the next 10/12 weeks. Going to get some Alphaflys for the 10k distance! Great video Fordy
@@patsyohara5870I've run 3 different 10Ks wearing the Vaporfly (blisters after 7K), the Saucony Enporphin Pro 2 and Plus, getting exactly the same time. I do believe the Alphafly (because of the airpods) give a bit of advantage. Anyway, I'm going to try them at the next 10K race.
Love the pro 3, what I really like about them is they keep your legs fresh, I can go out do a long run with some hard efforts and the next day my legs don't feel ruined, amazing shoe! 👌
Man you can’t be more right with the toe box issue coach! Whenever I take them it never fails to give me blister despite doing all the necessary precaution.
Great video Chris, I just don't get on with the Adios Pro3 due to toe rub and feel so would always go AF3. Did a 1.34.07 half and a 69.23 10 mile race in the AF3 recently and felt strong and even stronger in the 2nd half of the races. You're right in what you're saying to go with the shoe that works for you and, for me, the AF3 is the best race shoe since Nike first introduced the Vaporfly Next% all those years ago now. For 5k & 10k I would probably use the Hoka Rocket X2 but it would be close between them, anything over 10k is definitely the AF3 though!
I won’t use anything but the Alphafly v1’s for my marathons. I run similar times to you Fordy (3:39 marathon) and I 100% believe this shoe is for any speed of runner. I love them.
Other than the heel lockdown issue and the instability at tip off due to the big cut out in the forefoot, the adios pro true is a great shoe. I see that the adios pro 4 finally resolved these two enormous flaws. Looking forward to it.
I recently got some alphafly 3s and was really worried about arch issues as I have wide feet/flatter arches. I've gone up a half size in them and honestly had 0 issues with the arches after running 20km in them. I actually ordered a true to size aswell and could feel the pressure around the arch even just trying them on... Ive gone up a half size a few times in other running shoes and usually does the trick for issues with toebox (or arches in this case) etc. loving them so far!
Thanks for the comparison video. I am training for my first Marathon in mid-April. I have been experimenting with race day shoes on my Saturday long runs. So far I have run in the Adios Pro 3 (11.5 miles) and the Alphafly 1 (12.9 miles). My next long run will be in the Endorphin Pro 3 (in which I have my Half Marathon PB) followed by a long run in the Vaporfly 2. I do not have Alphafly 2 or 3.
@@FordyRunsinteresting! I think I'll stick with my Adidas Pro 3 for Brighton & London marathons in April and then wait to hear more once folks have spent more time running in the Pro 4s
VF 3 or AF 3 for me. Just ran 3:08:22 at the end of December. I think Nike > Adidas Pro 3. AAP 3 great for workouts though. Can't beat the pricing rn on them.
I was one of the "lucky" ones to get the Alphafly 3s. Did a couple of 3-5 mile runs in them. Thought they'd be fine. Did a half marathon in them, I got the biggest blister on my toe I've ever had by mile 8. Blood was visible one the outside of the shoe... That said, it was 2nd fastest half marathon I've ran.
@@FordyRuns sure, but it felt like I was stepping on a sharp rock for 5 miles. I think I still have a week and half to return them if I want, but I feel like I'm trying to talk myself into keeping them. I'll try different socks and anti blister stuff this weekend.
If Adidas can fix that heel lockdown, I would definitely try the Adios Pro 4, but until they do it's AF for all races. I think the simplest fix would be for them to connect the inner heel collar padding so it helps keep the heel from lifting, but not thick enough that it causes the achillies problem people...well.....problems.
Hi mate i running manchester going for sub 3 i run all my runs in saucony speed 3 was going to run the mara in them aswel. But am tempted by the addidas pro 3. Hard question to anwser but would the paces feel easier in the pro like. Cheers
I've not got on too well with the Pro 3, these have given me arch issues. When I stick an insole in, I then have rubbing on the top of my toes! Really wanted it to work but just not as nice as the Endo Pro 3. Not run in my pair of Alphafly 3's as yet and also have a pair of Prime X Strung to try out. Gonna be interesting to see which makes it as my mara shoe for Berlin and Valencia.
The Adidas pro 3 is the best all around running shoe for me .. best value, price is awesome right now, goes for me at any pace .. far better than a lot of the carbon racing out there
Hi Chris, how do you recommend lacing up the pro 3's. I always do the runner knot but the laces are short and put pressure on the top of my foot. Ive tried other laces and they dont seem to change much
Great comparison, Fordy! I have the Pro 3. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me as it brings my plantar fasciitis out . No pain then running 8-10K in it and my pf is back stronger than ever. I was thinking to sell it (size 8 in all black colour way) since I've only worn it 3 times and put 25 km in it but decided to keep it and give it a chance or two. Many claims that the shoe needs to break in. I hope that's the case and my feet will eventually get used to working with the shoe because I love the lightstrike foam. So far the best long run/racing shoe is the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 for me. It is comfortable and I can't even feel the plate under my feet. Should I sell the Adizero Pro 3 or keep it and perhaps do shorter distances more often (speed workouts) to break in? Any thoughts? Cheers!
I had blister issues when I bought my AP3 and was very concerned about the shoes. I played around with the lacing and finally figured out the best way to tie them. By the time I got to 50 miles the shoes were working great. I retired those AP3s at about 340 miles. I just got my third pair in the mail and I'm very happy with them. I've worn the AP3 for a marathon a few weeks ago and they work great. BTW: I had a pair of Alphafly 1s but only got about 175 miles on them before the upper started to rip in multiple places.
I have had blister issue as well only on my right foot around the arch area. Now it's much better. I just literally took the Pro 3 for a short interval: 2K warm up, 3x1K 4:45/km with 4 minute rest in between. It still feels harsh on my calves and somewhat unstable on uneven pathways. But hey, I'm much faster in the Pro 3 than in any other shoe so far. 4:45/km is my record pace to date. I've started doing intervals lately as I'm preparing for my first half marathon coming up on 10th of March. @@brighton4593
I was wowed by the pro V2 until I raced a 1/2..it flamed out at 8-9mi..so I didn't learn my lesson and got the pro V3 so I could re-learn my lesson..no more Adidas shoes..but they do work for some people..
Same. I can rip some great workouts in them, but running much beyond 10K just wrecks my feet. It's weird considering how much I love the Prime X for long runs. Even the Takumi Sen seem more comfortable than the Pros.
Ad pro 3 is rigid and i can feel the hard impact on easy and interval sessions. shoe laces are little bit short too. Unlike nike high stack versions are more cushion in my experience. How could people say pro 3 is better? You people are lying

I recently ordered the AP3 for my first half marathon in May. I prefer the drop on the AP3 and I like my Boston 12s.

Can you explain the arch issue in the Alpha flies for me please? Does it have to do with higher arches or low arches?
It is high and rubs
